I've taken my kids here a couple of times and usually have a good experience but unfortunately this last time it wasn't. The lady that cut my daughter's hair was very rough with her. I don't know her name but she has red hair and is maybe in her 50s. I asked her if she could put something in my kids hair so it didn't pull as much and she seemed bothered by it. Didn't really have any patience with my kid, they're kids they're going to move a little and not stay completely still. And overall the haircut looks bad. One side is longer than the other and there's a lot of random pieces sticking out. Sad to say but I probably won't be back especially for the price I would expect a little more. read more

Been eyeing this place for a while but my kids hair don't really grow so we never considered a kids barbershop. But since my son had his picture day, we took him here. Love the options of cars for the little ones, but once they start the haircut, the entire car is covered by the cape. Appointment is required and CASH only. If you have kiddoes who likes buying candy and toys, bring extra cash because my second trip to Kids Styles, a boy did well on his haircut and on the way out, threw the biggest tantrum because he wanted to buy something. The ladies that cut my son's hair were all really nice and tried their best even though my son had such a rough experience the second time. Mainly because I had to wake him up from a nap. Been coming here for my son's haircut for the last year and It has been great each time. I've been here for my son's haircut since he was 10 months and he has already 4 haircuts here. I've had different stylist each time since I don't have a preference who cuts it as of now and they all did it very well. They were all patient since my son cried during his haircut. I am so happy that I stumbled across this kids salon for my son. My son was visiting with grandma so I needed to find a salon close to her. Well if you're in the El Monte area or close to it I highly recommend this place for children cuts. My mother said that Patty was very good with my son and that he responded well to her. It is definitely hard taking a toddler to get their hair cut. My boyfriend normally takes him to whichever barber shop has an opening but they charge us an arm and leg for a child's cut also. Here I feel the price was great and the service was excellent. It is cash only so be sure to take that money honey lol but all in all the atmosphere was very kid friendly, the service was wonderful and price was only 22 for his haircut. Ask for Patty and you will not be disappointed. I have posted some before and after pictures of my son. Called this place to ask if they cut and have experience with curly hair. They said yes. I asked if they can do a dry cut they said yes. Long story short my son left this place with a horrible haircut that is going to take a year to grow back. I am very upset, they had zero experience with curly hair or how to even start. We took our 16 month old son to a different place for his first haircut, and he screamed the entire time. This time we thought we'd give Kids Styles a try since they specialize in kids. Sophia cut his hair and she was amazing and so patient! Since my son was too nervous to sit in one of the car chairs by himself, she let me hold him in my lap during the haircut and put on Ms. Rachel and Elmo for him to watch. He cried for the first 5 minutes, but to my surprise, he was completely fine after that! He let Sophia cut his hair without any complaining or protest, and the haircut turned out soooo cute. I LOVE this place! I've never came to something like this before and my son loves it here! We would go to a regular hair salon and it was nice but my son was always stressed and never wanted to go. This place made him love haircuts. He got to watch his favorite show and play in a race car. He loves cars so this was theme park status for him. He's 3 so he had an incredible time. I'm impressed with the effort this place puts into their business for kids. Their clippers are low noise if not silent and each chair has its own tv to personalize the experience for every kid. My son was able at that time, to pick his own car and he did get kind of fussy and want to switch at one point and our stylist was very kind and let him. Thank you Yuri for your patience and understanding when it came to making sure my sons haircut went as smooth as possible every time. If you didn't know, Yuri is the owner, she's great when it comes to giving my boy his haircut. The location is very clean, the kids chairs are awesome and they keep the kids entertained (even though Ryan's toy review is annoying, haha) as they get their haircut. I made an appointment for my son to get his haircut yesterday, the employee confirmed his appointment for 10a today. Get there today and they were not open until 10:15 and then find out his name wasn't on the list. The employee asked if I spoke with a Spanish or English speaker. Told her English to which she responded, "she didn't put your name on the list so I'm not cutting your kids hair". Mind you this is my 4th time being there with my son. My son is 14 months old so I knew how difficult it could be have him being seated in one place for too long. Mari was very fast at cutting my sons hair and did a great job. Very good place for kids, however they have this appointment system that the workers are very strict about. I was a couple mins late to my appointment today and the workers were attending a walk-in even though I had my appointment. Last time I came in without an appointment they refused to take my son because "it's by appointment, the person that had their appointment can come in at any moment and it will put me behind" they were also late. Yet I made my appointment and they accepted a walk-in being 3-4 mins late. If you guys are going to stick with "appointments only" please respect that for your own business.
