Today was my first time getting a haircut at Cool Cuts, and it was a great experience. At first, I was a bit hesitant, but I'm glad I gave it a try. The shop is clean and conveniently located across the street from a Shell gas station. There were two hairdressers when I arrived--a man and a woman. I have tried this place a few times, even before they were still located across the street. their cuts for men starts at $15 which is reasonable. to be honest, I have never been satisfied with this place. not a very skilled barbershop in my opinion. I am not even picky when it comes to haircuts. their haircuts are done usually pretty quickly and if there are people waiting, they would rush thru even faster, which happened to me in my last visit. I usually tip 25% and this place was no exception, but I am ready to write this place off completely especially after my latest visit and won't be coming back. We didn't have an appointment. My 4-year-old son had a haircut with Darren, I believe. He was fast and knew what he was doing. The boy looks slick now ($15). My daughter had a haircut with a woman; she was hoping for more style and layers, maybe some hair thinning, but it was a straightforward, almost single-length cut ($25). This place is the worst salon I've ever been to. I have long hair and I just asked for a super simple straight across cut. The lady couldn't even cut a simple straight line. She kept having to cut shorter and shorter and it still wasn't even straight, she messed up my hair. I am never coming back and I definitely DO NOT recommend. It was so bad that she made it layers without even asking me. It was so bad that another worker in the back was saying something in Chinese about my hair. I wish I could give negative stars. Came on a Sunday afternoon, looking for a place who would take walk-ins. The place is always packed, but the turnaround time is impressively fast. They're known for men's and boys' haircuts, and since all the hairstylists are men, most of the clientele is male. I believe it's also relatively cheap. I brought my 5 and 6 year old girls here for a quick trim and wash. I wouldn't recommend the wash, but the trim was incredibly quick and efficient. Overall, it's a great spot for parents looking for a fast, no-appointment-needed haircut. Highly recommended for quick cuts on the go. I've gone to their other location, Pro Cut, so I wanted to check out this salon as well. I walked in before closing and had little to no wait. The salon was spacious and clean. Duke was my hairstylist, and he did a great job. Women's haircut is only $20. I asked for 3 inches off, long layers, and curtain bangs. I showed him a reference photo and he understood what I wanted, with a bit of help from my boyfriend translating. Duke took his time and was thorough. I'm happy with the results! This can't be real. Don't advertise kids haircuts if you can't handle kids. I arrive and there is a man smoking a cigarette on the outside and the smell lingers inside. I guess that's okay? Turns out he is in the middle of cutting another gentleman's hair!! He went out for a smoke break in the middle of the cut?!? Anywho. We sign in and the man who is going to cut my son's hair signals us to go to his chair. This is my sons first haircut, my son is not complaint to sit in the chair stating "he wants to go home" That's fine, I try and coerce him otherwise... The man who is supposed to cut his hair is LAUGHING. HE IS LAUGHING AT MY SON HAVING A HARD TIME! We try for about 10 minutes and the man does absolutely nothing but LAUGH. Been here a couple of times since it's close to my house. Prices have gone up but it's just like any other haircut places. I usually just do haircut only when I come. Previously I thought this place was quick cheap place with a decent haircut. I think they had 3-4 people working at the time so wait times wasn't too bad. Though there has always been a wait when I get here, it's usually not too long of a wait. Recently I came here and got a haircut from someone I haven't seen before. Then again before this, I haven't been here in a while. Waited for a bit again but wasn't too bad. Manageable wait for me. My usual haircut is a 1 on the sides and a trim on top. Well, I thought it went smoothly. The thing about a haircut is that some barbers would comb your hair afterwards to see if they are missing anything. Some would even do a free wash to again, make sure the hair is good. Wasn't any from this so I wasn't able to tell my hair was kind of messed up until after I started styling my hair the next day. Ended up having to trim some areas he missed. Hit or miss with this place but like the time before this, it'll probably be a while since I come back. read more

Hell Yay Cool Cuts! Back story.... I used to get a hair cut every two weeks at my local barber shops and pay anywhere form $25-30 not including tip and wait ridiculous hours, sometimes 4-5 hour wait time. Once in awhile I would make an appointment but even with that I was paying more and still playing the waiting game. I've been coming to Cool Cuts for about 2 years now. When I first found this place I was in shocked that haircuts were $8, yes I said it $8. After about a year Cool Cuts raised the price to $10, yes I said it $10. At that price I went from getting a hair cut every two weeks to weekly and the wait time is never more then 30min. If your looking for something fancy or high end this place is not it, this place is a salon style but very in and out type business. I have seen other stylist give females styles and cuts but I'm always in and out with a quick fade. I have never been disappointed with a cut and trust me when I say I'm and very picky with my hair since I always like to feel and look good :) Cool Cuts is located off a hella busy street and only has street parking available. Sometimes when I'm waiting I'll walk over to Super Pets and pick up some dog treats for my pup :) If you do stop by call or Ask for Jing A.k.A Jean, tell her I sent you. This is an old school, no frills type of place. Simple process. Sign in, wait (everyone is super fast), go to the person who finished fastest, and pay cash when you're done. I brought my son here and paid $15 cash! This haircut was way better than the shops meant for kids. I have been going to a hair salon for kids in South Pas but they are not comfortable fading the sides. Cant beat the $15 bucks plus tip is way cheaper than $30 that the kids saloon charges. read more

I'm a simple guy who likes a simple hairstyle, so I ask for a 2" on the sides, and a trim on top. I wasn't able to catch her name, but the barber cut it to perfection. The sides were neat, the top was just how I usually liked it. It wasn't that long of a wait either. You can set an appointment or walk in. I did a walk in and left with my haircut in under 30 minutes (one person ahead of me). The downside to this is that it's pretty pricy. My usual is $10 + tip; here it's $15 + tip. I guess it's worth it if you want to get a little fancy and ask for a fade or something, but if not, you might have more interest looking at a different salon. read more

This review is for the lady with stink face. Last two visits I got her. First time I said I wanted my hair at a certain length (cut to 1 inch long). She's like "wow too short" and proceeds to only cut a little bit of my hair Months later I got her again and said it in different words that I wanted my hair a certain length. She cuts the top like less than 1 cm and focuses on the sides. It's like the top wasnt even cut. When the haircut was over I was super disappointed. She didnt even cut the front of my hair and I had to ask in the end. It was too much at that point to ask for cutting my top even more as I knew what the result would be like. I dont understand her standard of how short hair should be, she should follow what the customer wants and not judge, but cutting off less than 1 cm is ridiculous. read more

Prices have gone up, but are still reasonable. For men, $15 for haircut, $20 for hair+shampoo. They take walk-in but only the female speaks english. Quick, efficient, competent. I think this place is only good for men's haircut. I asked for a trim (1-2 inches), and they cut off almost all my hair. The layering was terrible too. As an adult male with relatively lower amounts of hair compared to my peers, I try to find a simplistic haircut place for myself that doesn't break the bank. This salon, with its large eight dollar signs out front attracted me and so I went in. There's plenty of free street parking out front, so that's always a nice perk. It's right between Rosemead and Temple City Blvd on Live Oak. For $8, don't expect a luxury spa service but expect genuinely nice cosmetologists that know what they're doing and are able to provide you with a nice and clean haircut. My cosmetologist took her time, was very friendly, and made sure I was happy with the haircut I got. Again for $8 and for my minimal haircut style, this place is perfect! Man I have been looking for a place that does fades but for cheap and lo and behold I find a place seven minutes away from my house driving. I have been coming in for half a year now and I like the hair cut I get. I always get a high "naked" fade with a slight trim. Story time: I came to get a haircut during mid October, I remember I told the lady I wanted a slight trim but my sides completely shaven with a high fade. She cut my hair and left my hair flat. To be honest once it is flat, I cannot really bring it back up unless I shower. I also have colored hair so I try to not wash it often. I remember walking out thinking she messed it up but my friends said they like my hair flat instead of a fauxhawk. They said keep it that way from now on. I was happy afterwards. She should've told me that she was gonna do that but anyway it was one miracle I was definitely thankful for. Every-time I come in, I definitely get good customer service, and today the lady cutting my hair gave me really good customer service. Of course she asked what I like, but she also said "this makes you look better" "You should have it shorter here". After she cut my hair, I felt super confident coming out. Been coming here for years, I am a satisfy customer most of the time. Mostly chinese speaking but they'll very accommodating. There are certain hairstylist that are very demanding and the line for them could be very long. They do have a restroom thats very far in the back and the motion detector turns off the light every 10 seconds. Some customers can be very mean and demanding here so I feel bad for some of the guys and ladies that work here that have to deal with them. It's $8 starting for men's haircut and $10 for women. $2 more for shampoo. Women's perm wave $45-$60+ It's a good location but not much parking so street parking is the easiest choice.
