3.25 My family loves this place and I keep trying to love…read moreit. I'm a big fan of Mediterranean Food, so I'm not sure why I'm not totally on board. For reference, this is a mainly carryout no frills restaurant. There were, however, a number of people waiting on takeout tonight. The cashier specialist who also assisted with food orders was very nice and responsive. She apologized that prices had risen more than reflected on the online menu.., No surprise! I picked up our carryout order tonight in torrential rains, but that didn't influence my review as I had already been soaked in the crazy weather we've had in the Toledo, Ohio/Bedford MI area in the last couple of days. Upon unpacking everything, we vhad a large hummus, a large gyro sub, and a large chicken shawarma entree with rice and tszaziki sauce on the side. The hummus with extra pita bread was good. Without the pita bread, it was too salty for my taste on its own. I'm super sensitive to salt, so keep that in mind, as you may love it! The gyro sub sandwich was a hit! My mom is thrilled to have delicious leftovers. My chicken shawarma entree' was overall good, though a bit salty for my taste. I realize that I'm more sensitive to salt than most, so I would say this was overall good and much better with the pita bread. Check out pictures below... The prices/value are relatively good at this spot. Somehow, for me, it's not crave-worthy, though others in my family feel that it it! I will say that the prices are relatively a good value in our current economy. Definitely check out Wild Wings and Things for carryout!

Looking for Japanese fried chicken (Karaage) in Downtown Toledo at 11:30 pm? THIS is where you'll find it. And it's good. Japanese fried chicken is a lot like American fried chicken, but the batter is a little different. The dipping sauces are similar to American sauces, but, they are a little different. Different is good. You can get said chicken in the form of wings, chunks, 1/2 a bird, or, in a donburi bowl. The menu also has some American (fries, coleslaw) and Asian (kimchi, edamame) sides. Mochi for dessert? You bet. Drinks? Pop, beer, etc, and sake! Service? The service was very friendly, fast, and accurate. Tommy and Sam run the place when the Main Man is elsewhere. They do a great job overseeing the service and the cooking. The atmosphere is similar to Kengo's other places on the same street. Intimate with bare brick walls. Seating is designed more for quick service and higher throughput. There are a few tables, but most people sit at one of two bars. Great music (Beastie boys and Tupac playing overhead, but not too loud). 4 stars for the food, and one more for being open late! 5 stars!

Only down side was the inebriated woman at the bar who wouldn't stop talking to us, but really nothing could be done about that.

I'd like to preface by saying that this was my first visit to Ohio in years. Given it's my home…read morestate, I was craving my childhood favorite, Rooster's. Rooster's can never do me wrong, so an extra star has been awarded just for nostalgia & food. Coming from Columbus, I'm used to Rooster's being much rowdier, busier, and staff being more energetic and approachable. Maybe it's a hometown preference, but it seems this Northern Ohio location lacks the morale of a Central Ohio restaurant. Although they were timely (probably thanks to their cooks), it seems the wait staff weren't happy to serve until they were serving the check. I visited 2/3 times in my week stay, and from person to person, nothing changed. Maybe I missed the weekend rush, when it's more bustling and full of life, but this Rooster's never had a wait. The wings are a little greasier than I remember. But my west coast friends enjoyed the massive wings, incredible prices, and quality food just as well as I did. Dumpster fries always shared at my table. Long live Rooster's!

We also got a garden salad that was exquisitely presented and even better tasting. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The vibe of this place was corporate America meets small town restaurant but in a tasteful and still welcoming way. We will definitely return

Another obscure spot for the win! Driving downtown I frequently pass this delightful little chicken…read moreshack. Several times I've slowed down, considered pulling in and then just kept driving to Old Orchard. Well today I (we) stopped. The owners were really nice. They warned us there would be a 15 minute wait... fine by us. I'd rather wait for FRESH food than eat food from under a heat lamp any day! Woody's sits at the end of a strip mall in an admittedly not great area of town, but it's good to step outside of your neighborhood (and comfort zone). The food is cheap! For 6.50 we got a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, 3 pieces of dark meat, a drink, and a roll. The potatoes were perfectly whipped into a delicious buttery frenzy and they were smothered with a fantastic peppery gravy. There was a lot of love in the gravy. That gravy alone makes it worth the wait. And then there's the chicken. Frickin' yum! It's crunchy and crispy and well seasoned on the outside with perfectly cooked meat on the inside. When I eat fried chicken I want to hear that "crunch" when I bite into it... and if it doesn't require a napkin to wipe the juices off your face and fingers after that first bite then it's not for me. This is the best comfort food you've never eaten! It's family owned and local. I recommend calling ahead and picking it up at their drive thru window. Bonus... you can get cash for gold right next door while you wait.
