Service was good, very friendly and kind servers…read more Garlic knots were reheated and not warmed all the way through, tepid inside and needed more color on the dough. Salads were good, the jalapeno ranch is tasty. Pizza was floppy and undercooked. "Roasted" onions on the pizza were only partially cooked and still tasted raw - not what we expected. Sausage and pepperoni were tasty but the pepperoni cups needed more time in the oven. The edges of the dough were cooked through but barely. Disappointed, coal fired pizza should be crispy with a touch of char. This pizza was already sliced and needed another 3-5 minutes in a hot oven.

Where do I even begin? Our server even called this place a dumpster fire! The only positives I can…read moresay is that the food is good but the service is horrendous. MANY patrons were MAD. We waited for over an hour to be seated (when the gal at the front said we'd be seated right away) then we waited for 2 hours for our food and when we get it, it's missing several ingredients...because they're out. Oh and the best part is when all the cooks left the kitchen and sat in a circle in the dining room for 15 or so minutes. The owner was also there...sitting at the bar with a drink. Why wasn't he helping bus tables, cook, GO TO THE STORE TO GET INGREDIENTS THEY RAN OUT OF??? This was during their busiest rush. What in the world???? Excuse was made that it's St. Joe's prom and all their employees are at the prom. Unreal! 1 star because food is decent but we will not return.

I need to tell you about Polito's Italian Restaurant at 401 N. Hickory Rd. in South Bend, because I…read morecan't keep this vodka sauce to myself. First of all, it's family owned, and their kitchen is one of the cleanest I've ever seen. Their salad bar has so many choices that if you can't find something you like, I don't know what to tell you. They make their own croutons, too. I saw them come out of the oven today, and I briefly considered standing there until someone handed me a tray. But the rigatoni with vodka sauce is the reason I'm writing this. I would eat that sauce by the gallon. I've gone in just to buy some so I can use it at home. I even told the guy that if they ever go out of business, I'm buying the recipe. I'm not trying to sell it--I just need it, because whatever I make at home isn't even in the same ZIP code. Their pizza is amazing, and somehow even the sauce on that is good. They have affordable daily specials that actually fill you up, plus beer and wine. There's a front room and a back room with plenty of seating, so bring your family for a get-together. Hell, bring your friends too. They've got room for all of you. I'm adding pictures of the menu and salad bar so you can see what I'm talking about. Please go give this local, family owned place some love. We can't keep saying we want places like this around and then only eat at chains. I really don't think you'll be disappointed. And if you go on a bad date, don't blame the food. At some point, you've got to consider the personality.

I've learned they use Grande brand cheese which is top of the line fresh soft mozzarella. Perfect for pizzas and reheats next day great. They have a great variety of options for toppings and predesigned pizzas. We just found this place a week ago, and have been 3 times! Addicting, plus they are quick to cook, and even a text when your pizza goes into the oven! Fun and helps with pickup orders.

I had a hand tossed pepperoni extreme which was full of oil, a thin crust bacon and mushroom with less oil, their Buffalo wings with ranch and their famous breadsticks with cheese sauce. The pepperoni extreme pizza had far too much oil for my taste, but the flavors were very much on point. There was some spice along with cheese that didn't quite want to stay on the pizza when I went to separate my slices. The thin crust bacon and sausage pizza had less oil and a wonderful crust with the same cheese situation as the other pizza. I imagine either pizza would be great for a party with alcohol. That's not to say it wasn't delicious because it was, but when it comes to pizza I have to be a hundred percent honest. The wings were less crispy than I prefer, but with a flavorful explosion. The meat also falls off the bone easily which is a plus for sensitive teeth situations. I must say flavor is the one thing these people are doing right over here. I just hope your stomach is young enough to handle it. Next I had their famous bread sticks with cold cheese sauce. The cheese was nothing to brag about, but the breadstick had that brick oven flavor that many people enjoy. I'm not sure if it was a combination of oils, but once I started eating my first breadstick, my stomach began to rebel, as if to say I had done something seriously wrong. I would like to see what else this place has to offer and a very much suggest visiting this establishment, but I must also add that there are other options for those of you with a sensitive stomach.
