Since my wife was not home for dinner, we decided to save her a "slice" to try later. It sitting overnight and being reheated greatly improved the consistency. What usually makes Chicago Style successful is more cheese than you usually have on a hand tossed or tavern style and in some cases a top layer of dough to really make it into a "pie". The taste of the toppings has never been an issue for me (with the exception of the "Lazy River - crawfish ettoufee, beer braised sweet peppers, charred red onion and mozzarella).
