The kitchen creates dishes that impress while servers create moments that impress. The dishes were good and service too. This spot has geographic advantage and good vibes. All restaurant crew members were warm and personable. I'm excited to bring friends here next. read more

I'm giving this restaurant a 3 star for service and not for food. For the food I give it a 5 star. As a first time customer walking in without reservation, spur of the moment thing was the biggest mistake I ever did that night. Unfortunately the welcome party (waiters/workers) present Saturday 5:30 pm 01/28/2023 with an empty restaurant, were not so welcoming at all. Even though the restaurant was empty we still got the table next to the bar with the countertop overhanging the table which would of made it very uncomfortable to eat and enjoy your dinner. I insisted to be moved to a different table and told the waiter "if he has ever sat there?" and told him "that's not an appropriate place to sit a paying customer". He just looked at me and said "no I've never sat there." He then sat us down at another table but was not happy that he had to. Soon after one of the older waiters was stating to the rest of the waiter/workers behind the Bar "well what do they expect with no reservations they should be happy for what they get." I personally wanted to leave then and there but my party insisted to stay, obviously they didn't hear the waiter remarks about us. I've never felt so bad in a restaurant the way I did in this Lisbon restaurant. The way I was treated by the workers in charge that night was uncalled for and very unprofessional in every way possible. Customer relations should be a requirement for these waiters/workers. I understand that I should have had a reservation especially on a Saturday but I didn't. Again this was my first time there, and we wanted to try Portuguese food for the first time. They knew this was the case cause I did state it when we first walked in, hence the reason for not having a reservation. My only advice for anybody who decides to come to this restaurant, please do a reservation before walking in. Without a reservation you will not be treated as a paying citizen. You will be talked about in front of your face and you will be seated in the table of l, shame on you for not having a reservation. I do recommend the food because it was good but unfortunately I really do not want to ever go back there again. Good luck for those last minute spur of the moment folks like me. P.S. pictures attached will show that the restaurant was empty from 5:30-7:30pm read more

Food is terrific. Try the baked clams, shrimp and Paella. The Sangria is great. Service is professional and friendly

I must say that this place is outstanding from the service to the food. we had celebrated my wife's 60th birthday, the owner Jack had given us one of the most wonderful experiences. If you decide to have a special occasion without a doubt, I recommend this place. read more

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and the service was impeccable. The food is always incredible, no matter what we order. The portions are large. Michael at the piano was great! It made for such a fun night! I highly recommend this place! We have been dining at Lisbon Cafe-Mineola for years and have always had a wonderful meal. Food and drink are excellent as is the service and ambience. The perfect place to go if you want a place where you can actually have a conversation without yelling across the table. The waiters and maître de could not be nicer. We cannot wait to return. They also have round tables that can accommodate 8/10 people comfortably. read more

Good food, nice atmosphere, clean place, wonderful service and will go back. Love this restaurant.

I was very disappointed with cod fish. Their was no flavor what so ever. I brought 2 friends and their food was bland as well.

We have dined at this restaurant on a number of occasions under different names. All of our experiences have been excellent, including the food and service. We very much look forward to our next dinner at the Lisbon Café. read more

We have been visiting Hearts of Portugal for years as a tradition meeting place with friends. We were not aware that Lisbon Café had acquired the restaurant until we arrived. I am personally big fan of Lisbon Café's Jericho, and Carle Place locations, however, this location was a comparably a disappointment for several reasons. First, our service was below par, not very attentive and our dinners were not complete when they first arrived. It had taken quite awhile before they provided us the sides for the Shrimp in Green sauce. Also, I had just dined at their Jericho location and ordered the Grilled Seafood Combo, which I also ordered here as well. I was again dissatisfied. We believe our waiter knew about our disappointment, but we never were visited by a floor manager. We would have been simply fine if they just acknowledge our dissatisfaction in our dining experience. My review is not to deter anyone from dining at this restaurant. And I undoubtedly I understand how challenging it may be operating a successful restaurant in these difficult times. read more

First time coming and I have nothing more to say than everything delicious! Portuguese style seafood paella I recommend it, the service 10/10 and the place looks really cozy, we will definitely return. read more

I haven't had much exposure to Portuguese food, but decided to give this spot a try. My group made reservations for 4 people on a Friday night around 6pm, and to be honest, it wasn't necessary. The place was pretty empty when we arrived. Maybe it's just because we were eating a little earlier than most. The service was alright; they didn't really check up on us that often and felt like we had to constantly find our waiter. To start, we got a pitcher of sangria, which was definitely worth the price. We didn't think it was strong enough, so our waiter was nice enough to make the pitcher stronger at no extra charge. A basket of bread and chips came right away too. The bread was pretty standard and the chips were pretty delicious. They were thick cut and seasoned nicely. For apps, we got the hot antipasto, grilled calamari, Chourico a Portuguesa (flamed Portuguese pork sausage). Hot antipasto is basically a giant sampler of their seafood appetizers and they were all fresh and flavorful. I would pass on the sausage; it's an interesting concept and cool to see it on fire, but it was completely overcooked. Charred on the outside and it was kind of dry on the inside. For the entrees, we shared a branzino and paella. The entrees came with salad, rice, and a plate of veggies. The branzino tasted fine - nothing special. The paella was a little watery, but it came with lots of seafood. General consensus: 3 stars for service, 4 stars for the food. read more

I came here about a month ago for lunch with a large group of people. The restaurant is recently renovated and came under new ownership/management. I'm not big on seafood at all, but all the dishes I've had absolutely blew me away and the waitstaff were on point. Favorites include: shrimp in garlic sauce, grilled octopus, and grilled calamari. We also got the Portuguese sausage and cod cakes which were fairly good too. For my meal, I ordered the rack of lamb. I was surprised with how juicy and tender it was. I also recommend getting the sangria to go with your meal. Regrettably, I was too hungry to try and take pics of the appetizers. read more

First time today. Everything was so delicious, staff was terrific and very patient with a big group. I had the chicken princesa, so yummy, world order again. They also brought out salad, rice and veggies for the whole table. Had the tres leches cake for dessert, so good. I loved the Lisbon cafe and look forward to my next visit. read more

I visted the Lisbon Cafe and I was not disappointed! The decor was absolutely stunning when me and my friends were sat outdoors. However when it came to our waiter, he wasn't very welcoming and couldn't even look us in the eye? I was pretty confused by that as I've never experienced that before. When we got our food it was amazing! I got the rack of lambs and it had so much flavor and was very delicious. Our waiter never ended up checking on us either which was weird as most restaurants I've been to have done that. My friend recommended eating inside next time as the waiters stationed inside were the best in her experience. read more

Came here for the first time with my wife and my son for his birthday. We came early so the dining room was empty. there were two gentlemen serving us. I think one was a server and one was a bus boy but we couldnt tell because they were dressed alike... One of them was very young and seem inexperienced.. he kept calling my wife "lady". when we arrived we sat down to find home-made potatoe chips on the table which were good and home-made bread which was good as well but would have been better if it were hot. we ordered ceasar salads which were fine and hot antipasto. the hot anitpasto was not even warm nevermind hot. it tasted good but seems like it would have tasted better if it were hot and not room temperature. My wife ordered lemon chicken which she seemed to enjoy and my son ordered paella which he seemed to enjoy. it would have been nice if they had just cracked open the lobster and crab meat and put the meat into the paella instead of making the customer have to crack all the seafood to get to the meat thereby getting all dirty and messy. i had the mariscada which we had catered from this place over christmas time and loved it.. however at the restaurant it was served lukewarm. My wife got rice and vegetables to go along with her lemon chicken which were also lukewarm.. Do the portuguese people not like to eat their food hot? I dont get it! all the food seemed good but was lost on the fact that none of it was served hot.. Also the two servers or the server and the busboy were void of any friendliness, personality or warmth... The food was good but between the food not being hot and the lack of hospitality i wouldnt come back! read more

This was a wonderful update to the old Heart of Portugal. This newly designed restaurant has all the right atmosphere and the food was spot on. The tables are amply spaced and the staff was safe and accommodating. Lots of Choices on the menu and our favorites where the Mussels, shrimp, onion soup and paella, though everything looked good. They do provide your dining experience with chips and olives at the table while a complimentary salad with mixed vegetables were a nice surprise. The sangria was good and they allowed us to order wings from the from more casual bar area. This is a great restaurant and understand that it's from the Lisbon Cafe from Woodbury ownership. Well done!!! read more

My wife and I had dinner at the new Lisbon Cafe at the site of the old Heart of Portugal location on Mineola Ave. I'm usually pretty hard to please in restaurants but this place really wowed me. The dining room is newly renovated and beautifully decorated. The tables are all spaced at least 6 feet apart and the staff is all properly masked. Elizabeth, the owner/manager is a dynamo supervising the waiters while interacting with the patrons. The Portuguese food is delicious and the portions are huge. For appetizers, we had garlic shrimp which was superb, and clams steamed with wine, garlic, and cilantro that was excellent. My wife's entre was a mixed seafood pot of shrimp, calamari, mussels clams, and a half lobster with rice and a light sauce similar to paella that she loved. I had the rack of lamb that had six delicious chops around a bed of mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. Both dishes were huge and, "Oh so good". If you are looking to try something different I suggest you give this place a try. Reservations are a must on the weekend. read more

Absolutely delicious!! So excited that I finally got to try this place. The appetizers were to die for, the servers were so friendly and attentive, & the paella was out of this world. Also the wine selection was awesome- I haven't had a vinho verde that good since I was in Lisbon! Would absolutely recommend stopping in! read more
