This location is near Jungle Jim's, another favorite stop in the area. Nate and I walked in around lunch time on the day after Thanksgiving and the place was almost full. We grabbed a couple of seats at the counter and were greeted right away. Waffle House is known for their hash browns, which you can customize as the following toppings: -smothered: sautéed onions -covered: melted American cheese -chunked: ham -diced: tomatoes -peppered: jalapenos -capped: grilled mushrooms -topped: chili -country: sausage gravy -all the way: everything The menu also includes basic diner staples as well as some lunch items like burgers, sandwiches, and the newer hashbrown bowls. Nate ordered a waffle and some hash browns (smothered, covered, chunked, and capped) and I got the patty melt which also comes with hash browns. The line at Waffle House is fun to watch - they don't print any tickets and all the orders are just shouted out to the cooks who remember everything and cook on the fly. They use a marking system on the plates with different condiments and ingredients to indicate the orders as well. It's super fascinating to me! Our food was done quickly and our server was great - super on top of refills and checked in with us a few times. The patty melt was delicious. It'll be hard to pick between that and breakfast the next time I'm at Waffle House! The patty itself was thicker than I expected and juicy. The Texas toast was perfectly toasted and the hash browns were super crispy. I really liked the waffle too. I'm already looking forward to my next WaHo visit!

A true diner experience!…read more First time in and I'm no stranger to enjoying diners, but this place was as diner as they get! And there's nothing wrong with that, simple, fast, relaxed kind of vibe. Staff welcomes you when you walk in, open seating so you have options at a booth or right up front at the counter where you can watch your food being made. The kitchen is right there in the open so you can sit in on the fun anywhere in the restaurant. Servers are very nice and straight to the point on taking your order. Food comes fast and is pretty basic, no real thrills as in you get what you order, nothing fancy. I enjoyed my classic waffles, simple but fluffy and coffee wasn't half bad. Had that real diner feel that I enjoy when it comes to light laughter from the cooks and staff in the kitchen and the heartily hellos to regulars that come in. It's just that warmness you get, like a neighborly acquaintance vibe you can't find anywhere else.

As an added treat, I gave this place a second shot. Nope,…read morejust as bad. As a special bonus, my waitress was WAY into her phone. I mean when you're in the service business and you are in front of customers: maybe the best way to get a good tip is to stay off your phone and take care of your customers? I am not talking a brief peek or a short message; on her phone non stop. Figured maybe she had outgrown that by now, I guess not. The food was also not cooked to request: burnt hashbrowns and runny eggs. Coffee was good, but even better if your waitress puts the phone down and gets you a refill. Tip for the staff that may be reading this: Yes most tabs are about $15/pp, so you are getting a $2-$3 tip per person. Here is how to maximize it: Check on your customer 2x-3x to make sure they are good, get them refills, offer a water with coffee, offer a to-go coffee if they are finishing up. So when a waitress does a good job and takes care of me: Its not a big deal to leave a $20 on a $15 meal. Now do that across a full shift and you are making decent $.

The pancakes were some of the worst I've had. They tasted like they were made from the cheapest pancake mix available, and the butter was a vegetable oil spread that separated back into oil as soon as it got warm. It completely ruined the meal. On a positive note, our server did a good job and was attentive throughout our visit. What surprised me the most was the pricing. The food was more expensive than Cracker Barrel, yet the quality wasn't even close. I want to support local mom and pop restaurants, but they still have to deliver a product that's worth the price. I hope they make some changes because I'd rather see them improve than close. As it stands today, I can't recommend it and I won't be back.
