Have been frequenting this establishment since it was Lisa's House of Hot Dogs and it has a quality menu for reasonable prices. Although the location has not moved the interior is cleaner and nicely presented. The good- hot dogs are above average (on par with Casper's/Kasper's) as are the street tacos. I'm a big fan of their salads, especially the nacho salad. Potato salad is to die for. ***Let me make it clear that although they have burritos on the menu they are substandard; better to go up the street to Taqueria or the place next to McDonalds*** The bad- limited hrs, no bathroom and the older Latin guy is very silent (although very efficient); I just feel awkward standing there sometimes. However, it seems he's really nice to the high school kids who hangout there so that's a positive. Overall, I enjoy this eatery as the food and nostalgia make me feel just right. read more

I wanted to really love this place... I love to support small/local businesses and I also love hot dogs! The service was good, very friendly & food made right in front of you. I tried the house dog for the sake of it, & also because at $5 it was the second cheapest thing on the menu (street tacos for ~$3.50). The hot dogs are long but quite thin... a little thicker than the width of my thumb. The house dog comes with mustard, onions, relish, & tomatoes. I've never heard of tomatoes on a hot dog before, but to each his own! They are cut in wedges, not diced like I would've expected... I decided to pass but got everything else. Totally my fault but I was surprised when my hot dog didn't have ketchup, I feel like that's just a given with your typical hot dog. But they didn't write on the menu... I just overlooked that. There's no condiments out or station to dress your own dog, so I just lived without. The hot dog was gone quickly, since it was really so small with few toppings. I love relish but there was so little, it was barely noticeable :(. My boyfriend got the special which is the house dog with a drink & side (dad's potato salad or mom's coleslaw) he went with the potato salad, which was good! Not amazing but still yummy. Overall, I don't think I'll be back. Our total came out to $15, I guess with tax + fee for using a credit/debit card, & it was definitely not a $15 meal... definitely overpriced in my opinion. read more

Been going here a long time for the price it's good food and a good amount, I personally liked the options on their old menu too (a bit more expensive but used to love their pulled pork sandwiches) but I can still settle with burritos tacos and seasonal soup. Sigh,.....where do I begin...... Let me first say that i have been a patron of this business since I was in High School (at CVHS) over 15 years ago. Damn near every day my friends and I would walk down and hangout and order their giant burritos. And boy were they delicious! Juicy and packed with fillings and HUGE! It's definitely a nostalgic moment and place for me, but a lot has changed. Walking in I noticed the decor has changed. Why? I get updates are needed, but i'm a bit confused. The mural and dedication to her mother is beautiful, definitely ta keeper, but the tables and decor looks all shabby chic tea party thing or something. Personally for a hotdog burrito shop its WAY out of place! And to be even more honest it was very weird and I actually felt uncomfortable. There needs to be more appropriate and inviting hot dog shop decor inside. Like a diner feel. That would bring in more patrons to dine in instead of order to go and leave possibly to never come back. On to the food. The lady who made my burrito was nice, but not very personable. I think she maybe only said 3 things to me: "what can I get you" "is that for here or togo?" and "that will be $10.55". Nice lady, but again i felt uncomfortable talking to her. Not very inviting from what i remember in my younger years. Yes, I know times change, but for the love of God, why did you change the chicken recipe?! I got a burrito with sour cream, rice, cheese and chicken. I'm guessing the burritos aren't giant anymore because mine was not the size of a small child like it used to be. The ingredients were distributed fairly well though it was kind skimpy on the chicken. Now worries though. However after having a couple bites I was really disappointed! Where was that juicy chicken I remember? the soft fluffy rice? The chicken was bland and very dry and the rice tasted like a microwave bag of rice from uncle ben's, and the cheese blend was different,...I'm used to monterey cheese on 99% of burritos that have cheese. I'm in awe,.....and not for good reasons. What happened? This was such a beloved place for me,...a piece of nostalgia. I fell like the life force along with all the flavor has left this place. Absolute HORRIBLE customer service! Went in to get a hot dog which I normally do at least once a week, and the same older guy helps me. Today it was 2 ladies. I was sassed the entire time, even told I was RUDE for asking for extra cheese. Asked for the owner the lady told me 'The owner is my sister sorry honey I can't be fired and laughed'. I decided I wasn't going to be getting anything here and told them I will not be coming back then as I was walking out one of the ladies said 'what a b*tch' as clear as day so I and everyone in the shop can hear. Came here because I saw "Street Taco's" advertised and I LOVE street tacos! It's a cute small establishment that pays homage to the parents of the owner! I ordered two chicken tacos and sampled both of the two sauces they offer. The two tacos came with salsa, onions, cilantro, house sauce, and shredded chicken. Let me tell you.... they were GOOD! Lisa V's has the most amazing Chinese chicken salad! I crave this on a daily! The salad is portioned very big, enough for two (or one VERY hungry), has fresh chicken, mandarin oranges and a wonderful homemade dressing that is to die for. Look, the lady who owns this place is super sweet and seems to genuinely love what she does and I hate to say anything negative about nice people BUT I can honestly say there isn't anything special about this place. I can't say anything bad about it either. All I can tell you is that the food on the menu tastes and looks like stuff I make at home. I suck at cooking, pb&j and boiled hot dogs are my specialty. When I go out I want something that's not made with basic stuff I can whip up at home. It would be cool if she put her own spin on classic dishes. First off, I'm not a big YELP-er. I do find it very useful, I just don't typically do reviews. This being said, I felt motivated to write my first review after I ate at Lisa V's. I think what did it for me was my desire to support the little guy. This was not like going to Baja Fresh and telling everyone just how wonderful my production line burrito was or that my 3 patty McWhopper was such a value. This is a small, family run business who actually took a great deal of pride in serving a good meal at a fair price - using quality ingredients, made right in front of you! Go in there and you can see the pride that went into this place - I was touched. Add to it the fact that the street tacos, were really good- as was my wife's burrito (big enough for 2 people). The quality is what makes the difference. I travel a bit and am forced to eat many a meal on the road. While my meal here was quick, I don't consider Lisa V's to be "fast food". I think that my meal was something that (had I had the time) I would have prepared for myself, family and or friends (assuming that I could make food this good). It's a very quaint place and this adds to the uniqueness - this is not a chain and nor do you feel like you are eating at a chain restaurant. It was good food, prepared by good cooks! In conclusion - if you are someone who: cares about what they eat, feels inclined to support small business, tries not to eat their meals in the form of a bar, questions the sincerity of the highly paid athletes telling you how good a sub sandwich is, trying to cut back on fast food meals, really wonders if the kid behind the counter bothered to wash their hands and is just looking for something good to eat, I would recommend Lisa V's. read more

I drive by this place everyday and finally decided to give it a try. I was craving a hot dog so I ordered the kraut dog. Yum! The bun was pulled out of a warming oven. It was soft, warm and tasted fresh. Nice long hot dog that filled the whole bun so each bite was delicious with all the ingredients included. I enjoyed it so drove by the next day and thought, what the heck? How about a chili dog today? Same warm, soft, fresh bun and tasty dog. Smothered in hot chili with lots of onions. Honestly, there's nothing gourmet about Lisa V's hot dogs. It's just a nice place to grab a quick bite and know that it'll be good and fresh. People seem to like Lisa V's because there's always at least 4-5 customers when I arrive and more come in while I'm eating. I've seen some pretty great looking salads come out of the kitchen and I hear the potato salad is a favorite. I'll be giving that a try soon. Staff is real nice too and very accommodating. Been eating here for eight years now and actually feel it's one of the best places in town to get a basic hot dog. The hot dog is a Casper's type and made the same way (mustard, relish, tomatoes and onions). The bun is steamed as well as the dog. The cheese dog is topped with cold shredded cheese that some may not feel appealing. I love it that way. The chili dog is basic and good in flavor. I feel the chili may be canned though. Still OK by me. I've had the tacos on occasion and find them very likable too. The staff is hushed but polite when spoken to. The dining area is what drops the establishment a rating by a star. The eating area is very rag tag. It's clean but the few tables there are a mixed matched, old and very worn. The chairs take it to a new level of worn and non-matching. Basically the area looks like early garage sale décor. I suggest if you are looking for ambiance, get your order to go. Also most of the time there is only one person there and that can add to the wait time. Still love the dogs though! read more
