stopped in on a Saturday afternoon well after the lunch rush, but there were still a number of customers there. Standard serve yerself buffet with the usual favorites, but I was overjoyed to find steak slices w/ mushrooms marinated in fish sauce (don't judge me - was good!). Interactions with staff were good & everyone seemed friendly. Vibe is not super fancy - just a good down-to-Earth buffet. Allow me to say that I gave Li's Buffet 4 star rather than 5 because for me, a 5 star experience would require a bit more elegance than family-style self-service. For nearly 11 years we've resided in delightful Gettysburg and have been enjoying Li's for most of that time ever since it was converted from a karate studio to a Chinese restaurant, although the majority has been take out over the last 6-7 years. Tonight i was hungry after a 4 hour drive home and decided upon this reliable dining establishment. I was immediately greeted and seated by a young and affable woman named "Abby" who spoke little English (and I speak zero mandarin!) I arrived at 4pm on a Monday which was the dinner buffet (see photo). There was only one other couple when I was immediately seated, however within 15 minutes there were about a dozen people and a seemingly consistent take-out business. I filled my plate and after enjoying that chose about 8 assorted sushi bites. My beverage was hot tea which was brought to my table within a minute of my arrival. Everything was fresh and tasty. My appetite mostly assuaged, I went back up for some dessert pickings (see photo) I also enjoyed a cup of wonton soup, freshly prepared. (pic attached). The bill for me came to $20.09 plus a tip which I happily included because my pleasant server was so accommodating, smiled a lot, hustled, and evidently tried her best. I brought my own hand sanitizer and really think that they should be available since people touch all sort of nasty things and then touch the utensils at the buffet bar. If a tourist to our historic and charming town, check it out rather than visiting a national burger franchise. If a local as am I, order from here and support a local business, whether dining in or take out you walnt be disappointed. Worst place EVER!!!! All food was hard as a rock. Older looking environment. Only one person spoke English so our complaints went unnoticed. The man tried to bring out fresh stuff, but that was terrible as well. I will not recommend this place to even a cat. read more

Firstly, we'd like to say that the restaurant appeared to be clean and the wait staff very friendly. That's the only positive statement we could make. The food on the buffet looked as though it was out there for hours. What food we took was cool and most of it was overcooked. Eg. the chicken on a stick looked like a combination of burnt leather and charcoal; General Sao's chicken tasteless and drowned, the low main appeared to be more like Ronzoni than traditional lo mein. The hot & sour soup was good as well as the Hershey ice cream. If I had to choose an oriental buffet, I'd travel the 30 miles north to the one in the Linn Buffet in Mechanicsburg. read more

Avoid!! Run!! We ordered delivery from here. Chicken was dry and looked like it had been lying around for hours. Spoke with the Manager who didn't care. Said, "we have a new cook. My husband and I came here for lunch on a day date. The building is very old and probably from the time ofnthe civil war. But as it is a restaurant its needs some major updates inside. The food was ok and not the selection I remember from going to a Chinese buffet as a child. As I took my first steps in Li's humble buffet I noticed an array of happy customers with balloon hats for their birthday smiling ear to ear. The photos Stretching all the way back to 2018. Having happy costumers, as I sat down I was greeted my the main man himself. Li with a smile on his face ready to make everyone's day. He started us off with some of his finest drinks I took his wonderful sprite. After this I was then able to make my way to the main reason we all come here, the buffet. I came with buffet expectations to my surprise, it was phenomenal. Walking in you see plethora of happy customers from all over the world plastered on the wall during my amazing meal one of my adults had a birthday. They gave us free balloons and a back scratcher! After our waiter gave us riddles, we got prices for getting them right . Oh my! I was looking for a restaurant in town during my visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield this past weekend. There was some sort of festival going on in the town square, making it impossible to get to a recommended eatery. Our traffic was being diverted eastward, and my stomach was getting restless. Then I came upon Li's Buffet. Buffet usually means they will be going out of business if they let me in the door. I hope that survive! Everyone in my group agreed that Chinese was good food, so that settled that. I parked and in we went. The owners & workers were all friendly enough. Once seated, we were offers drinks and then it was off to the races to see who could get to the glorious food bars first. I usually hold back, and let everyone else have first crack at the food. The food selection was absolutely amazing! Pork, beef and chicken, in various stages of seasonings and flavors were on hand to greet me. For the vegetarians, there was enough to feed the hungry in your lot. Desserts were in the last food bar. I'm not much of a sweets kinda guy, so I grabbed some delicious Jell-O. They had ice cream off to the side. I was so hungry that I honestly forgot to take pictures. Sorry! But not sorry that I found this place! About $10 per head for food at the time of this writing. Pros- Clean restaurant. Good menu choices. Good buffett choices. Decently priced. Cons- Buffet could be hotter. Servers could be friendlier. We've passed by this place hundreds of times and never eaten here until now. In the door we found the establishment to be spacious, well lit and clean. The door is placed in a odd spot, way down on the side but it's ok because they have plenty of parking there. We found the gentleman who I'm assuming may be the owner to be very friendly and personable but the rest of the staff not so much. The food on the buffet I found to be good but not real hot but warm and it has a good variety but seems more geared towards seafood. They do have sushi which is part of the buffet. My wife ordered The Szechuan Chicken from the menu with was hot, great flavor but needed more sauce. The star of the show here is actually the dessert section, they have everything you want from several flavors of very good ice cream, cakes, puddings and fruit. we have been regular customers for years but recently we have found that the food on the buffet is not kept filled. It seems they only want to refill items every hour on the hour!!! We have also noticed that much of the food is not hot, sometimes not even warm. surprised the health department has not paid them a visit or two. Seems the owner, and others, are more interested in playing with there phones instead of tending to the buffet and the food on it. read more

Service was good...Food Quality and Selection was very much lacking. The food was dried out as it looked like it had been sitting for awhile. No Crab Rangoon.....I guess crab is too expensive.... I've been a fairly steady customer through the years. I ordered take-out for my New Year's lunch and thought I'd splurge a little and order off the "Chef's Specials" menu. I got the Coral Shrimp--wow! I'm going to repeat that order sometime soon. The shrimp were large and tasty, and the "mixed vegetables" included broccoli, snow peas, carrots, and more. The sauce was dark red, sweet, and tangy. It has an asterisk on the menu, so I probably could have asked for a little more heat. I filled my plate twice and had enough left over for another meal or two. It comes with steamed rice. Please call them and order up some good grub and support a local restaurant. All the food ordered was a disappointment. Orange and sesame chicken were dry and almost nonexistent. Egg rolls were missed from order.

I didn't eat in so I can't comment on the dining experience but the staff I met here were nice as well as the owner. Points for innovative cuisine in the buffet that I've not seen in a Chinese restaurant and you might not expect. The potatoes were really good along with one of my standbys, the sweet & sour chicken. They also have some more American style cuisine for those people who balk at the idea of Chinese food (like my mother and perhaps my sister since the offerings in their region are either nonexistent or extremely subpar compared to places like NYC). The boyfriend and I stopped by one chilly Monday afternoon for a nice hot lunch. From the outside, this place does look like a "stay away" type of eatery. HOWEVER, this ended up being one of our favorite places in town! First off, they have their own parking lot. That's right - no need for quarters! Secondly, as two young adults that just graduated undergrad, we always look for the best deal in terms of what you get for what you spend. The buffet was $15 for two people, with an additional $3.70 for two sodas (Pepsi products!). That's an insane price for all you can eat - especially with all the options they have! My favorite items were the coconut chicken, dumplings, pepper chicken, and the sesame balls. Literal MUST HAVES. The food was hot and tasted fresh. We also came at noon (an hour after opening) so maybe it was because we can early. The dessert table was the highlight of my meal because I am addicted to pastries and their cakes and treats tasted (and looked) like they came from a fancy bakery. I literally had more dessert than I did food because I was so willing to indulge myself. (Calories don't count on vacation?) They also have self serve ice cream and all the flavors are labeled. The service was great as well. We were greeted as soon as we entered and our drinks never ran empty. We even received fortune cookies with our bill. This is definitely a great lunch spot if you're super hungry or if you have kids. There are also containers of apple cider vinegar next to the buffet that were filled with fruit flies. We should've just turned around when we saw that. We've often driven past Li's chuckling at the outside appearance and passing by writing this place off as a "no go" for eats. In a weird twist, we ended up eating lunch here and actually taking back all the negative things we've said- appearance aside, the interior is pretty clean and welcoming. The buffet is well represented and there is a nice variety to the menu. Some of the items didn't seem too appealing, but overall the selection was good. LOVE THIS PLACE. We come to Gettysburg every winter for a few nights and always make sure to hit this place up. Came on Christmas last time and while it was packed, we didn't wait long. It's a small place but it doesn't have that atmosphere of "you're going to be forgotten about." Everything is delicious, small batch, and fresh. Sushi was very good, wish there'd been a little more options but this is a small complaint. The owner even gave my 4 y/o a small toy and wished her a merry Christmas.
