My friends and I came in to make our own lipsticks. The space is beautiful, it's bright and welcoming. The technicians are very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. You got to do everything from start to finish, pick your colour, the finish, scent, any engraving and the case colour. It was cool to try shades you like that you think will suit you but after trying it... you realize it doesn't. They are very patient as it does take quite some time to mix all of the different pigments together. Overall, I recommend this experience. Extraordinarily expensive. I found the menu of prices to be very misleading. In small unbold writing with no heading they list the first lipstick price. Then in big bold headings they have the pricing for the second lipstick you will buy should you want a second one. I thought those were the prices I would be paying because I didn't even notice the words at the top. I thought I was getting a lip gloss for $35 and ended up paying $65. I'd rather go to the department store and get a designer lipstick for that price. I also thought we would be involved in making lipstick, like a fun activity for a group. I stopped in at the Lip Lab for a bachelorette party- are you an Ariana fan or a Raquel. I think I was mildly looking forward to seeing a big cut out cardboard of Ariana Madix--to um take a selfie. Was quite disappointed. The location was previously another company. From the website and the marketing- I was looking forward to a spacious location and since we were having a bachelorette party was looking forward to a side beauty room and real special custom consultations. At this Queens Street location, there is no party room. It's just a long counter with some purse hangers. When you walk in, you're greater with a sitting area and front desk person. Then you're handed a menu which is every product they formulate and different shades- finish etc. in the creation area food is not allowed perhaps hygiene reasons. While you customize your product you can choose the case colour, an engraving , a scent and actually the cases are magnetic. I was mildly looking forward to seeing pigment added to a base but really it was premixed lipstick swatched and blended. There are some visual estimation. Then you can try the lipstick and adjust accordingly. Know that if you try a number of shades your lips may feel like it's going to fall off and so they do have a lip mask to help with the irritation. After you finish making your choice, they do what it, mold it. The casing is not actually engraved it's just a vinyl lettering. And then your lipstick is placed into a box that would be ready for pick up in a few hours. If you decide using the washroom, know it's a narrow walk and a narrow stall. Not accessible, no elevator. The ladies blending the lip colours are wonderful- but I was shocked they didn't get commission for their sales - they often would inform on products and help customers choose. I chose a matte finish which was the longest lasting. But I didn't find the lipstick all that long lasting, there are drugstore products that are 16 hr all day wear and I just hate having to touch up frequently or be caught with half the lip colour gone. I liked the lip mask but later noticed it contained palm oil- which I'm not a fan because it's not a sustainable product. The overall experience/ you get a lipstick, you pay for someone to spend the time to customers blend it- but the lipstick is not an all day wear it's just a regular lipstick. The location in Toronto has terrible customer service! I had made an initial booking for a Bachelorette party months in advance but was unsure of final numbers, so when we were a month out I needed to change this. I emailed three times, left two voicemails and spoke to two separate people on the phone that said they would get back to me. This went on for three weeks. I just received an email TWO DAYS BEFORE the bachelorette party stating that they can change the reservation but that each girl could need to spend $100 or more to hold the reservation. I would also need to respond in 24 hours. After they did not respond for three weeks!! Needless to say we have cancelled our entire booking as they are very unprofessional and rude at this location. Had a wonderful experience. As a woman of color it can be challenging to find the right shade. Lip Lab is the solution. You can mix the perfect shade and name your own shade. It's fun, innovative and educational. I booked a session for my mom's birthday and she enjoyed herself. It was way better than I expected. Amal was a great host. She asked questions and understood our concerns about shades being too light for our complexion. She gave us great tips and mixed colors that were spot on. Today, 2 friends and I went to Lib Lab to create our personalized lipsticks. Alan our technician was astute at explaining the choices of shade and finishes. He was patient and truly personable. He re-mixed pigments until we all got the perfectly colored lipstick desired. Alan also explained the benefits of lip liner and primer. Brooke, the manager, did the final steps of molding the lipstick into a tube of our choice. The tube was also graced with your chosen personalized lipstick name. What a fun experience! Best of all, we have all-natural lipsticks! Last November 2023 was my first time at Lib Lab, and I continue to wear that lipstick (called "hot diggity"). It holds its' color and is moisturizing. And I still get compliments on the shade. Today's choice was a little brighter and I named it "Thistle Dew". Yes, wearing lipstick is special! read more

Since I was just a walk in I expected a bit of a wait and it wasnt nearly as long as I expected it to be. Then my technician got started and walked me through the process. It was fun finding a color and I am happy with what I got, I will say its not as long lasting as she sold it to be but it is buildable and when i layer it with one of my longer lasting colors its great! I took my friend here to celebrate her birthday. We walked in and right away there was confusion as to what needs to be done next. Everyone behind the counter was busy with clients and the 2 ladies who weren't didn't even bother to look at us and it's a small space so I'm sure they saw us. I eventually walked up to one of them and said we had a reservation. She asked me to sign into a book on a table by the window and wait. And so we did, we waited till another group with an appointment for 30 mins after us walked in and a lady checked them in on the computer. I immediately went up to her and told her our appointment was earlier but the other lady didn't check us in on the computer and only made us sign the book. That eventually got the ball rolling and we finally got seated. Virmila (not sure if I've spelt it right) our colour specialist completely changed our experience. She was extremely attentive and walked us through the process and we ended up having a great time. It would be a great experience from start to finish if they can improve the check in process. 4 month update: the lipstick has lost its colour and is no longer the shade we both made. read more

I love this place! I took a friend here for her birthday as a surprise and we were not disappointed. An appointment should be booked as spaces do tend to get filled up. Although when you walk in, it doesn't look busy... the sitting there and going through the experiences of making your customized lip colour, it makes sense as to why they limit the spaces. Tucked on Queen Street and Euclid, there is minimal parking... There's some street parking but good luck. You walk in and immediately friendly associates greet you to welcome you into their lab. The vibrant colours of reds, pinks and purples fill the room. It was clean, spacious and comfortable. We went for a 2 colour bespoke appointment - customized 2 lip colours per person. Our Guru, Jen, was an absolute sweetheart. She explained the process really well and was very patient in helping us find the right colours of our desires. She was honest with opinion and helped us greatly when we were slightly indecisive. You have an option to purchase wine while you liplab and offered water upon arrival. The bespoke package although slightly pricey, gives you a wonderful experience on creating colours you wouldn't find anywhere else and a lip mask set as well to take home. They also engrave the caps too!! The team was a joy to talk to - fun, energetic and very approachable. It's an experience. That is all I'm going to say. I had such a great time here! I walked in on a whim because I'm only in Toronto for a couple days, and there weren't any appointments available. Luckily (for me), someone didn't show so I was able to go through with the bespoke lip experience. From what I was told, a lot of people cancel during the day, so even though there aren't always immediate online booking opportunities, you'd likely be able to go to an appointment on the same day that you're interested. I got a coral and a warm burnt reddish orange shade. They were so nice to go through with many revisions of the colours I had in mind, and made 3 different shades for me to pick from. I believe I spent around an hour just making shades. I got the mango citrus scent (which smells like an orange creamsicle in the tube), and the violet scent. I'm super excited to use them! The bespoke lipstick experience also comes with a lip care set. From personal experience, the lip masks lasts forever, and works amazingly well. It was also really interesting to hear about their makeup school experience, as I'm somewhat of a makeup fanatic. I would definitely go again! It's probably a good thing I'm not from Toronto, because I'd probably make more trips... yikes. Poor wallet. But if I'm ever in another city that offers this, I'll definitely go. read more

Holy lipstick nirvana ! Popped in here to replace my Bite lip balm because it's a favourite that I'm never without. I left that lip color at home. I guess I'll just have to come back This time I came to Toronto. While I didn't make my own lip color this time, it was still super fun and the service is great! I also think the pricing is pretty worth it. Personally, I think it's worth it to make your own special color more so than choosing a premade lip color, because you get to really blend different colors and find one that's uniquely you. My best friend has a deep obsession with make-up (but I mean...common what girl doesn't?!?)! For her bachelorette party the girls and I thought it'd be a great experience to bring her here to make her own. Typically when I walk by this store, it's always so busy with so many people here. If you want to create your own lip stick, you need to make an appointment. The most challenging thing was making this appointment. We called several times and even emailed. We never heard back from the emails and it took a lot of calls until someone picked up. Luckily we were able to book an appointment because it was a great experience. During the process you do an exfoliation of the lips followed by a balm. They'll get you to determine the type of lip stick you want (matte, gloss, satin, etc) and the type of look you're going for (every day, etc). They recommended us the color that they thought best suited you but you get the chance to try different ones with the colors provided. You get to pick a scent and watch the whole process happen. The to be had the best memorable time ever! We're so glad we got to do this with her. The price to make your own is on the pricey side but it's worth it for a special occasion. read more

It was rather pricy for two lipsticks and I would have liked to learn more about what colours matches my skin tone more. None the less, it was fun choosing my own colours and trying different shades. I've been a fan of BITE products for well over four years now. The lipsticks are some of my favourite for intense pigment as well as they wear well. Especially hydrating with a matte finish. I was super stoked to learn that Toronto would be getting a lip lab. Shopping at Sephora was never a super calming experience to get my BITE fix. I finally came with a few friends for the experience. Our lipstick guru, Bradlee, explained the process & what's included. He was super nice and informative and really listened to what we all were after. I even had a specific colour I was after. I had brought in an old discontinued BITE lipstick that I wanted to try & replicate. We finally got it on the third try and it was an even better colour for me. He had a great knowledge for colours & suitability for different skin tones. Plus he didn't make me feel bad for wanting to try again. We each made our first shade then we all did our second shade. We were all mesmerized by the artistry & craft behind the perfect lipstick. This is a beauty haven & a treasure to have in the city. Even though the custom package is a bit pricy, you get the approximate value of all the products plus the experience is totally worth it. You get two custom shade lipsticks which you can also choose your scents and get them monogrammed with your own lipstick names. Plus a lip scrub, lip masque & a lip brush. Note: Don't be intimidated if you want to go in, but only see guys working at the counter. They were quite helpful! A much enjoyable shopping experience than Sephora - especially the busy Sephoras! I was looking into buying a Bite lipstick (Amuse Bouche) and I found it extremely difficult to make a decision at Sephora. I did try on a couple of the colours at the store, but there were just too many people, loud, distractions, crazy line-up, all deterrents for me to spend my money there. So, since I was headed downtown, I purposely paid a visit to Bite Beauty Lip Lab in order to finalise my sale! It was a much calmer, more open area to do my shopping. I was able to try the shades I wanted on, remove them in between, sit at a padded stool at the counter, in lovely lighting. Unlike Sephora, I didn't have to struggle for a sales person's attention, wonder if I was gonna get a cold sore as a result of trying on even a sanitised lipstick, or shout over loud club music. Other than the better atmosphere, another reason you'd probably make a special trip out here is if you wanted to customise your very own colour of lipstick! Yes, even if you wanted something out of the ordinary like Gray (which one of the male salespeople eventually put on) to a specific shade of Red, you can make it here. However, it won't come cheap! I believe it was like $150 and you get 1-2 lipsticks with a lip treatment as part of the package. Again, don't quote me on that one, but it did sound sort of expensive. Since the lipsticks are $30 a pop, I wished that there was some kind of other incentive for making a purchase at the actual flagship store. Maybe a mini lipstick sample or a chapstick or some kinda product that hasn't been released would be a nice touch since they create all the products on-site! read more

What an awesome idea for a bachelorette activity! The ultimate activity for a girly girl! My sister is a makeup artist and this was the perfect activity for her and her crew. The location was so clean and the staff were friendly. When we first arrived I was worried because it was so busy but when it was our turn the chairs emptied out and we had no problem getting our time in. We were never pushed to finish. The environment was relaxing. In fact, I liked my first shade but they were nice and offered to let me try more. In the end I tried 3 all of which I loved but I chose the last one. If it weren't for her being so kind, I would've settled on the first one. All of my friends loved their shades and it was such a success. The lipstick was so fun to curate and watch being made. The packaging was really cute, they put it in a nice box for you. I've done custom perfume before but this experience superseded that. I would definitely go back! Highly recommend! Honestly...this is any beauty lovers dream. You're surrounded by other beauty lovers, can make a custom lipstick...AND peruse BITE's entire collection while you're there. I walked right past the lip lab when I first went to try it and had to consult Google Maps because I was so confused about where it was. That may have been my unfamiliarity with the area, but hopefully the signage is more prominent in the future. Walking in you are greeted by a wall full of lipsticks and lip care. It's a dream wall. So beautiful! They've also got a cabinet full of pigments right in front of the door that I wanted to rummage through. And then you get to the bar where they offer you a cookie (yum) and you start talking lipsticks - pigments, finishes, scents - and they start mixing for you. In the back you can witness workers making the pigments through a glass wall - it looks a bit like a zoo, and I felt a bit uncomfortable watching them, to be honest. But it was too cool to look away! The only thing is, I would probably go once. To make your own lipstick, it's quite expensive. To get a refill based on the shade that you like, it is also the same price as when do the "experiment/create your own". It is over $100 to mix and match colours if you already have a pre-set colours that you like to mix. I'm already a fan of Bite Beauty and own some of their products. I like the quality and was excited to find out I didn't need an appointment to show up and make lipsticks! I was in town on vacation with my husband who agreed to come with me. I wasn't sure what to expect aside from spending more money than usual for lipstick. First off, I was taken care of right away by Erica. The beauty lab just started serving wine, so my husband and I were able to have a drink while I picked out lipstick colors. I wasn't sure what to expect, especially since I had a very vague idea what I wanted. Erica was very patient, thoughtful, and asked food questions to help me narrow my choices. She also talked to my husband so it wasn't awkward or boring for him. I wanted a color I don't already have. She gave me the option between three finishes: Matte, Sheer, and Amuse Bouche. I tried a variety of shades of pink and purple. I wanted a bright Amuse Bouche and a dark cherry color with shimmer. I ended up with a berry Amuse Bouche and a glittery sheer gold so I can use it to transform all the other lipsticks I already had. I am super excited because I ended up with better choices than I intended. Erica explained the process, let me pick natural oils to flavor the lipstick, melted the pigment, poured it into a mold, and set it on a cold plate so it would set. It was so interesting! Erica went above and beyond. We had to run to dinner before she finished our lipsticks so we had to come back to pick it up. When I looked in the bag, I noticed Erica left us a nice note wishing us a nice vacation! I highly recommend this experience to makeup lovers. read more

This place is pretty cool and pricey. But for what you get - you do get your money's worth. Bite Beauty has only two lip lab locations, so far, one in New York City and here in Toronto. As always there are different price points, but overall it is still quite exciting to see your very own lipstick being created in front of your eyes. This is a great way to splurge and spend sometime with your girlfriends - what I loved best was the on-site lab. The lab itself is making and supplying all the product that is meant for the lip labs in NYC and in Toronto. Really, if you don't know why making your own lipstick shade is so cool then I really can't convince you. Boo - gross other patrons leaving their coffee cups everywhere and taking endless selfies, thus making all the appointments run late. And there's nowhere to sit while you wait, either, so I had to lean my heavily pregnant self against the wall for 30 minutes while other customers were making the same pouty Boomerangs again and again. Went to the lip lab as a surprise birthday gift to my sister. I recommend making an appointment. Although they accept 'walk-ins' - they are usually booked full. You can give them a call or email them at iplabqueenstreet@bitebeauty.com with your preferred time and date. I believe they are in 30 minute slots for appointments. We were greeted by our lip lab specialist who was super friendly and funny. You get to choose either a single colour for $55 per person or the two shades per person for $80. You get to pick your finish, the flavour and the colour. The lip specialist will mix colours to your liking and let you try the colours before creating your personalized lipstick. You event get a 'lip scrub' before you try on various colours. This is def. a very fun and different experience and I recommend those who like lipstick to give this place a try! read more

Disappointing storefront (non-custom lipstick appointment) experience. I came in to try the multisticks and selected a few for checkout. I stood at the front counter and was ignored for 15 minutes, despite looking extremely out of place and obviously needing help. I got someone's attention when she came near me and she said someone else would help me checkout in a minute. Ten minutes later, I simply put back my selection. That got her attention and she said she'd help me checkout. I'd been ignored for 25 minutes at this point, so I politely said no thank you and left. I honestly left feeling humiliated. It is obvious storefront customer experience has a lot of unmet potential. No mirror if all the stools are taken, just a DIY-looking wall with a selection of their products. No makeup remover to help yourself to like in Sephora. It feels awkward to drop in, and feels intrusive to watch the employees in the back mix products. Perhaps onus is on me for not dropping $60 on an exclusive lipstick shade, or $150 for two custom lipsticks. I'd recommend bringing a friend if you decide to go for an appointment, as the experience is setup to feel akin to a bar except serving customized lipstick. read more

I got the custom bespoke done at Bite and I could not have imagined a better experience! I've never had a custom lipstick made for me, so I wanted something absolutely unique. The technician that worked with me was named Ariel and she was the BEST. All I gave her was the *idea* of what color I was looking for, and on the first try she was able to whip together the perfect color combo. But she let me look at other combinations just in case, and let me experiment. She let me ask as many questions and was very well informed on how everything works and I am REALLY satisfied with my product. The color is amazing and EXACTLY what I looked for. Today I went to the bite beauty lab, and it was such an awesome experience! Erica was the one who helped me, and she did a wonderful job with encouraging me to try colors that would complement the look(s) I wanted. I ended up getting two colors, and they look and smell amazing! Pros: I think it's awesome you get to create your own lipsticks with its own scents, etc. Price for two lipsticks wasn't too bad at all! Cons: Nowhere to sit when waiting to be seen. Did feel a bit rushed during the whole process. Note: Make an appointment! I had arrived at 11, thinking they would be able to see me...and they told me to make an appointment and come back at 1. Honestly, I was impressed. I brought in 17 of my staff (so 18 myself included) in for a staff event and they did an amazing job juggling us all while maintaining a level of professionalism. Customer service was an A+. We had a dinner reservation and couldn't hang out until our lipsticks were all done, and one of the staff brought it to us an hour later! Phenomenal! And to top it off, I didn't realize you get a whole lip kit -- scrub, mask, clear liner. Fantastic. I haven't even worn my new lippies yet, but I'm in love with my colours and I know they'll be used until they're DONE. Thanks to the team at bite today that made our event memorable! read more
