Part Shoppers and part Sephora, this is a makeup junkies dream come true. Located in the Shops of Don Mills it's an extremely clean and well laid out space. Not cramped aisles like other stores. Major plus on having enough staff around that you can easily get assistance when needed. You can try products out and get mini makeovers They carry more high end products like YSL, Bobbi Brown and Chanel and some midrange ones like Cargo. Plus they have a few brands you won't find in Sephora like a brand from Iceland, Darphin etc. By chance I picked up one of those magnifying mirrors (18x magnification) and scared myself shitless! Do i really look like that up close?! Ughh...i thought I plucked my eyebrows pretty decently. Well oh my..not even close to a decent job! I ran all the way to the counter to pay for my mew best friend. I remember they used to have a brow bar where you could get your brows done but I don't recall seeing it this time. They also have a perfume bar here so start spraying! You can collect and redeem optimum points so save up and splurge here! read more

I came to Murale yesterday as I was in the area. My dad wanted to pop in Murale to see what latest cosmetics there were. The face cream I use can ONLY be purchased at Holts and since I purchase mine from Yorkdale, the location is a bit far from my home. If only Murale carried my cream... Having said that, Murale for me carries nothing out of the ordinary (Chanel, Nars, Clarins, etc...). Because I have been using my cream for many years, any new products would just fly by me. Murale does carry a lot of new brands I don't see anywhere else so if you are into trying new products, Murale would not be a bad stop. Later in the night, I went on their website and checked out all the products they carry - that is a good start to see if the store carries your particular brand. The ONE thing I love, of course, is the fact that you can redeem your Optimum points, and because some of the products here range $200-$300, it would be great to save up all your points and splurge here. Not sure if it would be a good idea, but Murale does a lot of makeup sessions, and I have always wanted to try the Chanel seminar. This is a place I wouldn't come out of my way, but it is nice to drop in when in the area. The sales associates are always keen to help and super smiley. *Note: the 2 images I downloaded from Google Images just to show examples of the exterior and interior store.* read more

Geez, there needs to be another location for this place, because this is way too far for me to drive. Came here because my mom had bought some stuff and was given some free gift cards to spend. It definitely competes with Sephora, and offers less in some respect, but more in others. They sell some luxury brands like Bobbi Brown, YSL, Chanel - things you'd only find in a Holts AND you get Optimum points for your purchases. If you like the regular Shoppers Brands, you may not find a lot here either (like Quo, Maybelline, Cover Girl) - but they do carry some L'Oreal Products. What they do have here is more mid range. Smashbox, Benefit, Gosh, Biothem, Caudlite etc. The staff are really friendly here and offer lots of suggestions from a wide range of items. You can book also Make Up application and Eyebrow waxing ($25) read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. Murale sounded so promising. A Canadian version of Sephora that is an offshoot of Shoppers Drug Mart where you can use your Optimum points. Sounds great - right?! Mais non. I love me some Sephora. It is the mecca, the holy grail of makeup products. As a girl that believes variety truly is the spice of life, I was hoping that Murale would offer great selection and variety too. Uhm, no. A lot of the products at Murale, you can get at Shoppers (although for Shoppers Quo products - all Murale sells are the brushes - WTF?!). Really, do you need to showcase L'Oreal? Nothing wrong with L'Oreal, but come on...where is the variety...the stuff that makes you go, "Wow! Must try!" There was also this super duper annoying sales lady that really could have been out of a Seinfeld episode. She kept trying to get us to try Guerlain products. Not in a traditional sales way, but in a way that was desperate and sad. Christine C, her daughter Megan and I all at one point got cornered by this lady and even though we each said no multiple times, she stared us down and kept trying to offer more services. Mole. WTF?! I did try out a cream on my hands (wish I could remember the name of it) and my lovely co-shopper Christine C said it smelled like pee. That is right people, if you are looking for a piss poor version of Sephora and want to smell like pee - look no further. I will continue to be a loyal Sephora and Shoppers customer. However, unless more variety is brought into Murale, I will be using my optimum points for body wash and cream at Shoppers. read more

My first time in the store at Shops on Don Mills - it's a well light space and looks like an extended version of the beauty section of the Shoppers. I was hoping to find a larger selection of green brands and a broader range but limited selection of green brands they had, most of them were very very expensive and not well known brands in my opinion to warrant the ultra premium price tag. They do have a private cabin for facials and it is quite nice with relaxing spa music. The facial I had was 30 mins and was not terrible but not very good (though they have all the things they need there including nice relaxing spa music, hot towels and a private bathroom). It would have been a nice treat to experience the brand but I wasn't told till afterwards there was a min $100 purchase of that specific brand until after. It would have definitely been nice to know before hand and I certainly wouldn't have gotten a so/so facial (I would have preferred to pay for the facial outright) instead of being forced to purchase $100 of that specific brand which after the facial, I wasn't terribly impressed with. So much for a brand introduction! Not a bad place, but much better options out there - love the The Detox Market which has a huge selection of really unique and great quality green brands so would highly recommend this as an alternative. read more

Ooooh, I love it here. It is pricey, but that is to be expected given the nature of the business. They have top of the line products and the staff are very helpful and friendly without being pushy. I am much more comfortable here than at Sephora. read more

It feels so clinical. I love make-up, cosmetics, products, but Murale just didn't do it for me. Sure they have a broad selection. From high end to drug store brands, they carry it all, but I just wasn't diggin the vibe. What I love about Sephora is that it bustles and it's fun and there are tons of people there to help you. When I walked into Murale, it was quiet, open, and there was only 1 person there to serve customers. It's just not my style. read more

I have only shopped at Murale twice. First time I was looking for a store which carries the Foreo Luna and that is what lead me to Murale. I called the store and was able to confirm product I want is in stock. The staff was nice enough to suggest putting the product on hold for me. I can pickup the product within a week so I can take advantage of the store upcoming promotion. When picking up the product, staff at the cashier is very friendly and give us a demo on how to use the little machine. The 2nd time I shop at Murale with my sister, I am tremendously impressed with the customer service that I have received. I've been dealing with Dawn-Marie and she is fabulous! She provides a very friendly and warm welcome upon our arrival to the store. While we are looking for a product which doesn't seems to be on the stock shelf, she went above and beyond to search the product for us. She also provided detail recommendations on certain type of skin care products that I wanted to try. With this level of service and the advantage of the earning and redeeming Optimum points, this will ensure I shop here again. read more

I was so excited when this first opened last year. I went a few months after grand opening to get my eye brows waxed from the Benefit Brow Bar (I know, a very delayed review!). The lady who did my eyebrows was extremely focused and made my eyebrows look amazing. Just to throw this in, I have extremely bushy eyebrows. They were extremely knowledgable with the different beauty products and were so excited to help me find a perfect blush match to me. I rather go to Sephora and buy make up there since you can get Sephora Beauty Insider Points. But, at Murale, they have a small number of brands that aren't sold anywhere else! I wanted to check out Pandora's Makeup Box so badly and was happy they sold it here! Will definitely return and maybe pick up some Pandora Makeup Box items this time! read more

I was in a Murale store recently and I found out that they just launched an ecommerce website (www.murale.ca) and you can now purchase most of their products available in-store at their new website. I ordered some items online and got lots of optimum bonus points (for my girlfriend) which is a big advantage to ordering online. The package arrived faster than expected (2 days) and there was what looked to be a hand written note in the package from the person who shipped me the goods! The packaging was very elegant, perfect for handing to my girlfriend as a gift. She was extremely excited. I also got a whole bunch of Free bonus items because of a promotion they were running which was online only - they were mini items, samplers, but still great because I got to choose the ones she wanted. A really amazing In-store experience but also a wonderful Online shopping experience too! read more

Just had my makeup done st Murale for a wedding, I was so happy with results! Bought a few of the items used to give me some of the same look/help for everyday. Chey was fabulous and so helpful. read more

Murale has officially trumped Sephora in my books. As much as I love Sephora - can we talk about the joke of a "reward points" program they offer? Spend $100 (before taxes) and receive a free sample. Really. That's what it is. You select between 3 "deluxe" samples offered at the time, which are usually products that don't excite me in the slightest. As far as Shoppers Drugmart/Murale goes - spend $75 on a "20x the points" day and instantly receive $25 worth of points on your Optimum card, which can be used towards anything in the store. Now that Murale carries many of the same brands as Sephora, it only makes sense for me to shop at Murale. It is closer to my home, not too busy, and I can collect points. Love it! I found the store very spacious and love that there are testers of everything - even drugstore items. The only brand I normally shop at Sephora that I noticed was missing is Tarte. There were some other brands there that were very new to me, like "Mommy Makeup" which I will NEVER buy due to the name alone. Quite possibly my favourite part of Murale is that there is a Benefit Brow Bar (eyebrow shaping and grooming). I have been hearing about these for years and I'm interested in finally trying it out. Also, my skin gets very red after hair removal, so luckily I can shop around Murale with my reddened brow-area and not feel like a total freak. read more

The store in Place Ville Marie is lovely. Definitely doesn't have the fun vibe of Sephora, but it is geared to a different type of clientele. Now, should you need to actually reach someone from their general contact number...is another story. You have a 50/50 chance of actually speaking with someone who takes the time to listen and help. In listening, I don't mean a ten minute soliloquy but a quick explanation of what you are looking to get answered. I got transferred four times. Was on the phone for 45 minutes plus. The agents, except for one, were practically comatose and flat. Between Sephora, well.ca and other online beauty shopping sites..I don't see the need to ever have to shop at Murale or Pharmaprix again. read more

I really love this store. It's the only Murale for a long ways, it might be the only one in Southern Ontario...or at least in the GTA. I've been coming here since they opened. I love that you get optimum points shopping here, and they have redemption days as well. Also, this location stocks a bunch of prestige cosmetics brands, including Bobbi Brown, Chanel, etc, as well as some really high end skin care products. My favourite thing are the staff, who are super nice. Faye is awesome, she remembers me from my first visit years ago! Anyways, they also carry hair tools which is exciting. Totally worth the visit. read more

Seriously the worst customer service ever. Management refused to come out of the back room to talk to me over a return that they refused to do. Imagine that! You can only return purchases here and not to Shoppers Drug Mart so it's VERY frustrating to have to drive all the way back here for a return if you have an allergic reaction. this is the only Murale in Toronto. Furthermore, they don't carry full lines of items, often don't have testers, never have gifts anymore, and the store is eerily silent (the staff has indicated they are NOT allowed to talk except to customers or else they'll get fired). Save your time and save your money! Shop Sephora online or get a Prime Amazon account. read more

I always come here for skin care and beauty products. This store has quality items you won't find at Sephora. I never had problems looking for stuff I want. Staff knows different brands well in the store, so if you ask for advice they will tell you which product will suit your skin best. read more

I love this store, and the sales associates go above and beyond to ensure that you find the products you are in search of. They carry high end to mid range cosmetics, you also can purchase bRk water bottles there, they have a huge selection. The Manager Dawn-Marie is so helpful and very knowledgable about the various lines, I trust her recommendations and have found some of my staple skin care products there, I just wished I lived closer. read more

First of all, i always knew that murale existed but didn't have a chance to try it out until now. and unfortunately was quite disappointed. the environment of the store itself was very nice, very clean, and had friendly staff. however, i walked into the store looking for a matte foundation i was immediately approach by a representative asking if i needed help, which i gladly told them. unfortunately she directed me immediately to the bobbi brown associate when i told her i'd like to try different products and brands...she immediately informed me that she works FOR BOBBI BROWN and will not try any different brands on me. unfortunately that's not what i was looking for. i prefer the environment of sephora because none of the associates are sanctioned by the brands, instead they're non-biased and give you their true feelings and thoughts on each of the brands/products. prior to coming into the store, i had taken my time and carefully done my makeup, making sure that it looked fabulous. when she asked me which foundation i used, she was very quick to criticize what i was using and explained that it does not compare to the bobbi brown brand that she clearly worked for. she then continued and removed my makeup and roughly...(very roughly, i felt like she was pulling and tugging on my skin) applied the bobbi brown make up which i have to be honest...looked a lot worse than what i had done myself that morning. i then asked her for a sample of the foundation and she looked at me like..."WTF". i was a little disappointed in her service from there on out. associates at sephora are very willing and very happy to give you as many testers/samples as you possibly need. unfortunately..murale just didn't cut it for me. overall...not the greatest experience for me...unfortunately. i'll stick with the non-biased sales associates at sephora. read more

Went there to find a new foundation, the lines are 'meh' and I expected a lot better lighting. The girl who helped me didn't even try and match it on my skin and seemed like she didn't care to be there at all. I don't need to twist someone's arm to sell me something do I? I ended up going back to MAC. read more

I have been dying to go here, but I waited until I was at the max level of Optimum points to go and splurge on a bunch of free stuff! I went for the first time today. Murale is very clean, bright, and organized. They carry tons of product that you can find at Sephora ( NARS, Benefit, Bobbi Brown ), and some that you can't ( Chanel, Cover Fx, Deborah Lippman ). The pricing is on par with Sephora or any other cosmetics counter, and the selection in each line is quite good. I ended up leaving with $200 worth of 'free' goodies today, after cashing in my Optimum points. I got some great stuff! Will I visit again? Likely, if I am in the area, or when I have enough banked Optimum points to treat myself to something. Murale is much quieter than the bustling craziness that is a typical shopping trip to any Sephora store. Strangely, I now appreciate the ability to blend in with the crowd to try out as much product as possible without feeling like I'm being monitored, even if I do have to maneuver through a group of giggling teenagers to do it. Murale is a great store, but my heart still belongs to Sephora. read more
