This park is legit!! Definitely stop by. Clean bathrooms (especially if you use the ones inside the library -- yes, there's a library ). There's a kids' area inside, and honestly as an adult, it's clutch when it gets too hot outside because you have a nice indoor space to cool off. Outside, there are cool zip-line style swings, play areas for both younger and older kids, and plenty of shaded spots. Major bonus points for no woodchips -- huge win. The library also has fun music exploration activities, which was a pleasant surprise. Plus, there are easy food options nearby, so you don't have to overthink meals. Parking was easy for me, though I can see it getting tricky during busier times. This is a small park located behind the library. If you have kids, this is a great place to take them! The playground is fancy and has a replica of an airplane. There is also a soccer and baseball field here. This is a nice place to walk as well. You can do laps around the small park, and the shopping center is right across the street. read more

Lions Park is located just off the 55 freeway in Costa Mesa. There is plenty of street parking along the exterior of the park. There are baseball fields, soccer fields, a large kids playground, and large grassy areas. There is also a library, aquatic center, and a recreation center. When I was here on the weekend there were tons of people and kids playing on the play structure. If you want a little more peace you can go to the grassy areas near the soccer and baseball fields. read more

I came here to enjoy my food from the Costa Mesa Kitchens since there's no place to eat over there. I sat at a bench since the picnic tables were occupied. They have a really cool play area for the kids with a roller coaster swing. The restrooms however must be nasty. A lady checked each one and didn't use them. I would return here whenever I go to Costa Mesa Kitchens. read more

This is a review not specifically for the play ground itself but the area as a whole. I grew up in Costa Mesa and 'Airplane Park' was a staple to me, of course they've revamped it and given it a very nice face lift which my nieces and nephew now enjoy but the transient problem has gotten out of hand. I used to take nightly walks here, every single night, but changed areas when I noticed just how many there were. I'm typically not someone to complain, they have nowhere to go, I sympathize. They should be able to enjoy the park just like everyone else but when they're constantly taking up the tables as well as leaving their belongings scattered everywhere that's when I start to have an issue. I recently went back and didn't notice as many so perhaps something is being done and they're hopefully being helped rather than just chased to another spot but I love this area. Sometimes parking can be tricky but if you find the lot close to the fire station, you can usually find a spot unless there's an event going on but even then, I've never really had too much trouble. It's also well lit at night which is nice. read more

Its clean, and well spread out. The park has a unique playground with an airplane replica and a few picnic tables to have lunch at. Its located right behind the public library, so you can bring kids in there to check out done books before going home. It has a large grass area with walking or jogging trails and a baseball diamond and soccer field. Theres also on site behind the park the Cities Community Center, Rec Center with indoor basketball courts . The Aquatics Swimming Pool is on site also has swimming lessons and during the summer also has The Teen Center, a place for kids / teens to come for fun activities during the week. Comes in very handy for parents who have to work during the week. Also on the northwest side theres the CM Historical Society location, tours by appointment only. * Check with staff re the activities, dates and times. But the park itself is open from 6am to 10 pm, but soccor field and bathrooms close earlier. Its usually clean fir the most part, restrooms near playground not always clean, but after 930am the library opens and allows you to use thiers, which are much cleaner. You get a few transients occasionally, but not too much by the play area. And finally opening soon is the Mesa Cafe, where youll be able to get coffee and refreshments The park is very secure and they have vigilant security officers that patrol the entire area 24/7. All in all its a great place to take the kids, go on a date, lay on the grass and read a book,play frisbee, baseball or soccer take your pet for a walk because its super pet friendly but dogs must be on a leash. You can even sneak a few nuts to the squirrels there. I do recommend this park to the young and old alike. 9n a scale of 1-10, I score it a 9. read more

My husband found this park somewhere on some forum. We took our kids here over a weekend and it was super fun. It didn't help that there was a carnival event next door on the same day but it was equally entertaining. My kids had a blast. read more

Such a beautiful park from the music station on the top platform to the roller coaster swing will definitely come back here. Parking was a breeze with spots all around the park. Very well kept and the people very respectful towards parents and kids. 2 person swing was a nice touch for me and little ones to experience at the same time. Very family friendly. Bathrooms were a bit harsh but what can you expect from a public restroom. Will definitely come back. read more

Great park! I loved all the things you can do and is very spacious. They have a cute Naval plane kids can sit in, a sandbox area with an excavator, a big apparatus with a big slide. There is also a big zip line that goes it a big circle and the zip is very hard to bring back up. **Word of Cautious** There are park rangers there that keep track of the homeless/druggies that can be in the area. DO NOT use the bathrooms at the park. Please use the bathrooms at the recreation center or the library which are both next to the park. read more

Our favorite park and it's nice how it's next to a library. My oldest can spend hours here. The zip line is definitely a popular attraction there but it has other fun things too and a sand area for little kids like toddlers. There are yummy restaurants like Toast nearby too. read more

Came here to have a nice picnic with my girls and could smell the trash piled up in the garbage cans and there were zero tables to eat our picnic. I would have been fine with the zero tables and laying out on the grass as we like to do if there wasn't so much loud traffic going by. The equipment its self is nice but a crowded place to play. read more

The zip line swing is awesome however kids run into the path on a regular bases and can get clocked so watch out!

This park is really meant for dare devil kids cause the bigger attraction here the ladder is very gapped out and to even get up to the top is a bit more difficult for smaller kids but a nice overall experience. Huge high slide and the coaster swing is nuts more parks need this at their core play area. Park is easy to get to from the 55 just a block after the end. Lots of parking around the park and clean. Come early as it gets packed fast. read more

City park with lined parking spots around it. It's next door to the library, too. (Please see separate review for it.) There is no fence. Keep an eye on your kids. There is a public restroom. Most of it is the tot turf. There's a grassy area and a contained sand pit. They have riding toys throughout, regular swings and even double swings. They have a cool spinning globe and another merry go round type you sit and spin in. It was pretty busy on the day weekend so probably best to go during off peak times. read more

It's open!!! It's been redone. And it's fantastic. My boys are 6 and 8 and they had an absolute blast here. There is equipment they've never seen before as well as the usual equipment with a twist. There's a long zip line that you sit on a swing. A rope climbing structure that spins! Tandem swings. A 4-person teeter totter. Super high climbing structure. And the old Navy airplane is back! A couple of negatives. Very little shade. The benches for parents aren't covered and they get burning hot!!! The zip line, while super fun, seems like an accident waiting to happen. Kids are running through it and the zip line is fast, so I'm sure some kid is going to get knocked out. Not a ton of stuff for toddlers, but there is a small sand pit. This park is amazing, parking is easy and there is something to do for all ages. The showstopper is of course the zip line swing thingamabopper. There's a line for it and I recommend each kids parent stand by for when it's their kids turn. There are markings on the ground for where the zip line will fly through. I walk talking to a mom who said in the previous week she saw a kid get knocked out when they ventured to close to the kid swinging by. Honest mistake, but this is definitely a park where the parents need to watch their kids. The concrete plane seemed to be a hit with our kids ages 5,6 and 8. This park is currently closed, but holds a special place in my heart. As a Costa Mesa resident growing up everyone referred to it as "Airplane park". The park is located next to the new and awesome Costa Mesa library and community center. The only downside is the ever growing homeless population pre and post Covid. Hopefully, the city re-opens the park in the future. read more

This park is meh. We played kickball here for the season and they don't even have the bathrooms open at night! It's like they want everyone to do their thing illegally. They did a great job remodeling this park! My kids love it. It's their new favorite park. They enjoy the zip-line, catwalk, spinning cube, and playing on the airplane. I'd recommend bringing a beach chair; so adults have a place to sit. There are trees but they aren't near the benches. There are also bathrooms and ample parking. The park gets busy; so it'd be good to visit at off-peak times. read more
