Marina Park is a popular area for locals and tourists of all ages. This is 10.5 acre park. It has water, boats, kayaking, walkways, beach area, picnics, dog walking, eateries, community center for rentals and activities sign ups, basketball courts and much more!!! Even though it was crowded, it was still fun to get your steps in, people watching, simply beauty of the water and boats!!! Our next trip, it would be nice to bring a nice take out lunch to enjoy and then get our steps in!! There's parking here. We had to park a couple of blocks away. All is paid parking. You can pay online!!

This parking! A really big slide, things for big kids and small kids, a beach, and a restaurant nearby. We ended up getting takeout from the restaurant and eating it on the beach, then exploring the playground with our toddlers. Love it, I would always recommend visiting this area when coming to Newport Beach with little kids.

Great little spot for all ages. No waves so great for paddle boarding but boat traffic so little to no waves. Over all a good spot to come enjoy the sun

There is no better park in the OC. It has a beach, in has a playground, it has a park, a restaurant, a par course, and to cap it all off it has a freaking Lighthouse! What more are you going to ask for? I breezed in on Sunday morning. I found comfortable chairs by the Lighthouse Cafe. I read my book, I would have smoked a ciggy if I had one. It was a spectacular morning, it is just a block from 15th St. All you have to do is show up with the family and make some memories. Come on you know you want to!

    Happiest Customers!!

I have been to many marinas on both west coast and east coast. This place is by far the beat and most professionally run marinas that I have had the pleasure of experiencing. And it is not just the marina itself. The Newport Beach Harbor Department is simply the BEST! They are always so accommodating and incredibly helpful. We have been coming here for several years now and can't praise them enough. PLEASE, please, come check this amazing destination out!! You will mot be disappointed.

Marina Park in Newport Beach, CA, is a summer kid's dream for playtime. As a parent, I most appreciate this park because it is clean, safe, and well-maintained. Kids will love the idea of their own temporary lighthouse with a slide. At the bottom of the slide, poured rubber surfacing will catch your child. Lot and street parking is a close walk away. The lots charge is $2.80 per hour or $28.15 per day for automobiles. This area can get congested, but the times I've been here with my most recent visit being in February 2022 I have went home more refreshed and relaxed. Clean restrooms and picnic tables are nearby. The area is nice. The bay view is pleasing. The waters are calm. The boats. The sun. The beach. I love it all - and all year long.

My kids love this park, it has a light house and at the top a slide down to the playground area and a few feet to the right is the beach and ocean water with no waves and tons of toddlers, mamas/nanny's and kids. Tons of mom meet ups and play dates. Little cafe close by and great views to take pictures of your kids! Love this place wish I lived closer I'd come here more often!

Do NOT pay by cash to park here. The machine will keep your $6.25, saying you still owe $0.20... Paying by credit card or G Pay should work.

tl,dr: Nice place for a swim! Just beware the parking kiosk. Likes: + No waves! And clean ocean water. Excellent for practicing open water swim for beginners. + There is a safety line to divide the swimming area from the boat area. + The parking kiosk also takes G Pay. Neat! + Plenty of free room to host a picnic or party. + And free public workout equipment! + And it seems you can rent kayaks or SUP by the Lighthouse Cafe. Non-likes: - The parking kiosk cheats your $$!! My parking was supposed to cost $6.20. After I put in $6 cash and a quarter, it said I owed 20 cents left. What?! Then the machine just blipped back to the start menu. Without granting my parking. WHAT?! So we had to pay another $6.20 by credit card. The machine doesn't give you enough time to think on how to resolve that 20 cent debt deceit, then keeps your money! - Towards lunchtime, I paid another $6.20 parking, this time via G Pay, planning to have lunch at the Lighthouse Café. Then we changed our mind about lunch, but couldn't get a refund on that $6.20 spent on G Pay... They should offer refunds within a reasonable grace period. In total, that machine "took" $12.40 from us. - The immediate restroom there lacks paper towels. Gotta walk for a few min if you wanna use the nice restroom. Neutral: . The inner parking along W Bay Ave is ok as long as you arrive early. Or else you have to park along W Balboa Blvd.

Loved it here. Great place to bring your kids. There's a playground and then behind it is a baby beach. We even got a water show from the lifeguards.

Great park for families. Perfect place to launch your kayak or paddleboard. Water is calm. You do need to be careful of boats. There is significant boat traffic and some are pretty big. I parked for an hour and it cost me $3.50. Plenty of beach to relax. It is a good place for little kids to experience the ocean without all the big waves. Come out and enjoy the outside!

Cool lighthouse with restrooms and nearby outdoor shower
    Kay A.

This is a really cool playground right by the ocean. There's a small strip of sand to hang out. The lighthouse is really cool and where the restrooms are. There are a few picnic tables to hang out. The play structures have a rubber surface but a lot of sand. Luckily an outdoor shower is nearby right by the sidewalk and grass - it makes it easy to rinse off. There's also exercise equipment nearby. I believe a few stations must be scattered along the sidewalk. I can't give this place 5 stars because parking is just terrible! I spent probably 15-20 min looking and my kids were already giving up and saying to go home! Lol

Love taking our kids here since there's a playground right off the beach with calm water. They also love sliding down from the lighthouse.

Ask the Community - Marina Park

    Do they allow dogs?

Haven’t lived there in 6 years after city kicked 55 families out to put in a park

Is it easy to find parking and if so how much is it?

Yes, bloody expensive. $2.10 per hour. Car park right next to park, or street parking.

    Is parking free after 6pm?

    Yes

Do you need to get a permit to have a birthday party here if you aren't interested in reserving any tables? We have a big family and don't want to get in trouble for not having a permit.

Did you need to reserve or did your family just gathered at the park?

The weather was perfect the entire time we were there. It was really nice to get away from the heat. The beach and the water was clean. The waves were a bit high which was perfect for boogie boarding for the kids and some of us adults. (I am totally sore from boogie boarding and maybe broke something... but totally worth jt!) There was a bit of traffic around the beach area when we first arrived in the morning (9 am). Some streets were small so you have to be extra careful driving because pedestrians darted into the street whenever they wanted to... We were able to find parking in the parking lot and we got charged around 32 for the entire day. 6 hours was the max before having to add more money to our parking pass but easily done by using our phone, just remember your car license plate number and zone number. The area was very nice and got front row on the sand. We had 16 people in our group, we all got to have our space. But as people started coming they started crowing around so it was tent to tent next to each other around noon. So make sure you get there early if you want a nice view. There was a bathroom close by with washing stations and even swings and playground for the kids to enjoy. We were able to take a short walk (5-7 minutes toward the fun zone and ferry area). We left our stuff on the beach for a few hours and it everything was still there when we returned. We just love Newport and wish we weren't four hours away but we do not mind the drive. It truly is relaxing when we get there. We spent about 12 hours on the beach and enjoyed every moment. Can't wait to go back!

I feel a little bit bad not giving this beautiful park five stars, but I'll make my reasons clear…read morebelow. Still, compared to most parks of this size in the US, this is probably a five-star park. And yet. Wow. I just can't believe Newport Beach had the foresight and wisdom to allow this little plot of prime real estate to be a wonderful park for the entire community to use rather than some multimillionaire's hillside estate. When I came and took my photos, I only explored the southern side of the park, which is separated from the northern side by a steeper part of the hill and some shrubbery. It's easy enough to get from one side of the park to the other, but from the bottom, where I started, I couldn't tell there was another half of the park. Most of the southern side is on a hillside that steepens as you walk away from Carnation Avenue. In addition to small grass areas, there are a playground, some picnic tables, and only a few shade trees. Those trees are important, though, because when the weather is beautiful and there's not a cloud in the sky like when I came in August, you probably don't want to be totally exposed. I had walked here from where I parked about three-quarters-of-a-mile away. When I drove back, I noticed on my GPS that the park continued, so I turned left onto 1st Avenue, and who knew? Begonia Park is actually named after Begonia Avenue, which is its northern/western border. This northern part of the park comprises a much larger, flatter grassy area. However, the only trees up here are at the very eastern corner of the park, so again, if you're picnicking on the grass up here, bring something to shade yourself with. At the westernmost corner of the walkable part of the upper park, there are two benches that face the ocean. There was a man sitting at one, so I didn't get out of my car to try the benches, but I could tell that they have a lovely ocean view. These benches are definitely five stars. My quibbles with Begonia Park may be minor, but if the City of Newport Beach fixed them, I'd gladly re-review and bring this rating up to five stars. The first problem is a big one. Despite Bayside Drive being a fairly busy street and despite the fact that two separate concrete walkways go right up to Carnation Avenue right across from Begonia Park's own concrete path to the playground, there are no marked crosswalks at or near the corner of Bayside & Carnation. This just feels like feckless indifference on the part of city planners. In addition to crosswalks, there should be those blinking yellow lights that flash when people are in the crosswalks. The top half of the park has a lovely view, and I like all the open space, but there should be more shade trees and especially benches all around the edges of the park, not just right where the best view is.
