Tewinkle Park is where coed softball memories are made. The park is well maintained and hosts our softball League on Tuesdays. I played in my first softball league team here. We were a bunch of misfits, all gathered for a chance to play this wonderful team sport. When I joined, our fearless leader stated he didn't expect us to be good but he expected that we have fun. How do you say no to that! I learned how to play this game and the nuances of the rules compared to baseball. Above all else, I got to meet so many new people through our games and pick up games. We wanted to venture out and go to a place we could take a walk and also have our little play. I googled around us and this park had rave reviews, so we went ahead and came by. It is soo beautiful, there are ducks, and turtles, a huge playground that had all sorts of areas to venture and play on, big spaces of grassy area, a couple of ponds with waterfalls, everything was clean and well kept. This is a pretty decent park. Lots of people and their families bring pets here. They have some wildlife and nature here. It is almost like a zoo, rather than a park. But I like it here. Set on the corner of Arlington Rd and Newport Blvd near the OC fairgrounds, Tewinkle Park is definitely one of Costa Mesa's many treasured parks. Many say it's like a park out of National Geographic as its beauty is of complete serenity with a huge pond and many water features. There any many disabled access parking spots and ramps. I personally love the many winding sidewalk trails set against the beautiful duck pond complete with ducks, geese & turtles and the rolling grassy knolls. Finn and I love coming here as it's very dog-friendly and there are doggie waste stations equipped with bags here. Finn especially loves the community of squirrels that inhabit the boulders nested behind the hill. There are two restrooms - one behind the park and one between the parking lot & the ch children's playground. I love this park, but I wouldn't visit past dark ad there are no lights especially near the pond. All in all, definitely one of my favorite parks in Costa Mesa. Highly recommended. read more

This is a super fun park for the kids to play! There's a large playground with slides, a sand pit area, and a large seated area that allows the kids to top up and down. TeWinkle Park encompasses 49 acres and is named after Charles TeWinkle, the first mayor of Costa Mesa. It's connected to the adjacent Angels Playground by a walkway and is like two parks in one. There is a parking lot in the front and there is more in the back closer to Presidio Square. There are tennis courts and four large baseball fields that always hold baseball games especially on the weekend. Away from the fields there are multiple ponds, fountains, and wooden bridges. Above all, there are ducks! There are so many ducks walking around and in the pond so be careful not to run into them and invade their space. It's a really unique park that is really cool to explore and check out some ducks. read more

I absolutely adore this little gem! This park may be small, but there's a little something for everyone to enjoy! I love that there are small trails with hilly areas so you can do a couple laps, get your steps and get a little incline in. There's a playground for the littles, benches for a little rest stops, and shaded picnic areas all around the park, perfect for day in the sunshine. There's quite a nature scene for relaxation and photo ops too. I was also surprised at how well kept this park is, honestly so beautiful. Just some notes: Expect ducks and squirrels everywhere. There's a skate park (Costa Mesa Skate Park) and a dog park (Bark Park) attached and in walking distance. Look out for the ice cream van, he has tons of options! read more

Tewinkle Park is small, but wonderful. There is nothing not to like. There is a full playground for kids that is safe and up to date. They can play there for hours and there are places for parents to sit and care for their kids. You can picnic there, there are a lot of places to sit by the wonderful large pond they have. There are ducks and squirrels everywhere. It is just lovely. There are also super paths for walking or running some with little hills, some flat. The area has so many flowers and the visitors are nice. There is a dog park within walking distance. If you are in the area it is a great place just to take a break from the City and the noise. There are also places to find shade and just relax. There is also a skate park within walking distance. Have fun. read more

This is a nicely maintained neighborhood park with ample parking spaces, a playground, tennis courts, baseball fields, skate park, and a dog park. It has a nice paved walking path with good amounts of shaded areas with trees. I appreciated the multiple doggie bag stations and bathrooms as well. This is a gorgeous, clean, and safe park. My husband and I attended a pet fair with our pugs, and we had a wonderful time. There is plenty of space here, and everything is lush and green. There are also many spots for recreational activities. I'd definitely come back to this park. read more

Large, fun park with a great assortment of things to do. It is named after the first mayor of Costa Mesa and was opened in 1965. Some examples of the things that can be found here: -Large lake with ducks and turtles with a nice winding path around it. There is a relaxing waterfall that goes up a couple elevations. No barriers around the water so you can get close and your kids can throw sticks and waters into the top of the waterfall and chase it down to the lake. -Climbing hill with cemented in rocks and boulders, tree-lined at the top for shade. Kids love racing up and down this. Steep in some areas. -Large playground with padded flooring. Sections for different ages, I will always remember this park because it was the first one that looked so fun and appealing our little one ran off to play alone instead of hovering around mom or dad. read more

This park is so special!! There is a huge squirrel family that resides in the hillside. They are all such friendly cute little boogers. They enjoy people, and are so fun to interact with. The park itself is kept up nicely. It has many large spans of green grass to practice on, as well as some nice fields to play on. I don't know if it was just the day, but the static on these slides was out of control. Like I'd be walking past them and my hair and clothes would be pulled away from my body! Science! The play structure is rather large and diversified. It has a lot of shade incorporated, and the bigger kids side and the smaller kids side are connected. There are lots of things to play with and on, and there's even this interesting rocking boat feature. The only downside to this is that my one and a half year old son was trying to get on, and some lady was pushing it for her kids and didn't stop it for him so he fell and started crying. Then she looked at me like I was a bad parent instead of herself for not stopping her rocking. I actually got quite a few looks from random moms, which was weird because that doesn't usually happen to me. I guess the moms here are judgmental and unfriendly. *shrug* The playground's floor is also quite nice and more spongy than I'm used it. I like how it's in the middle of this huge park with a "lake" and a bunch of geese. My kids had fun with the birds, although they both ended up stepping in goose poop. Gross, but almost unavoidable as it's everywhere. read more

This is a very relaxing park , there's plenty of shade and a clean children's playground. The path is paved through the entire park and there are fountains and waterfalls as well. Over all pretty nice, the only downside is the duck poop everywhere but hey at least there's ducks there! read more

This park is beautiful, I enjoyed a nice little stroll through this park today and I must say I enjoyed my walk through this park. It isn't a 5 star though, but more of a 4. I give this rating because there are a lot of water fowl around & that means that there's excrements everywhere. As I was taking my stroll I almost stepped on some, but it is what it is. I can't believe I didn't know about this park when I used to go to OCC! It's right down the street from the school and has easy parking. I was surprised at the lack of poop on the ground because normally, parks with lots of ducks and geese have poop everywhere. This one felt cleaner than most. The park is large and we were able to isolate easily since most people are spread out. It wasn't that crowded for a Friday afternoon either, but the skate park seemed pretty busy. read more

This is a wonderful park for a casual stroll or for taking children to play. The partially covered play structure includes many different elements, including slides, "obstacle" courses, swings, and others. Trees provide needed shade during hot summer days. My only concern is the health of the animals in the pond, which does not seem to be maintained that well. The poor turtles are all suffering from algae stuck in their shells! read more

This was such a cute park to take your kids or have a family picnic. There's ducks, turtles, squirrels, and birds to see alongside the little lake and waterfalls. They also have a big playground for the kids. Very enjoyable spot to take pictures for any special occasion. One thing I didn't realized was that it was across the street from the OC Fair grounds.
