It had been years since I've been to a Lion's Choice. Stopped in here as a last minute decision over the weekend. I have always enjoyed their thin shaved roast beef and crisp natural cut fries and their seasoning is amazing as well (it is very salty which i prefer, but if you don't know that in advance). This visit reinforced how delicious the food is! Service was friendly, helpful and fast. Food was hot and delicious! Excellent experience, i highly recommend. read more

We arrived and to our surprise were actually greeted by a friendly employee. He patiently took our order. You first timers and all. The menu was simple. Ham, Turkey and Roast Beef are the stars of the show. Hot dog looked great but having been at the ball park the day before it was not on the must try's. There was also salad and chicken which didn't peak our interest. In our group we had someone try the ham sandwich and the turkey. Both were big hits. The block sandwich had all three meats and it was a tasty blend of goodness. The baked potato was simple and delicious. And the fries were perhaps not the best but good. The Mac and cheese was another big hit. We didn't dine in but I want to say their dining room was nicely decorated and extremely clean. After the experiences we have had at other establishments in the area this was a refreshing and welcome change. This was restaurant is economical for the amount of food you receive. read more

I've been to this location twice now, and my review is split between the restaurant as a concept and this particular location. Restaurant concept: the roast beef is served medium rare, and for me that's a deal breaker. I grew up as a farm kid and meat that rare always evoked the same comment: " a good vet could save that." Now, I know that, supposedly, this is the "correct" way to cook meat, but I just can't eat bloody meat. Fortunately, when I commented about not eating rare meat, the girl behind the counter told me I could order it well done. Whew. Crisis averted. But, it seems to me this should be clearly indicated on the menu board. Let people know they have an option on the doneness of their food. However, I think the restaurant punishes those who want well done by making it dry. I know how to cook meat well done and keep it juicy. Well done does not- should not- equate dry. It does here. The horseradish is tasty and clearly ground horseradish more than a sauce like Arby's. Yum! There are lots of sauces to pick from, and they are in a pump format rather than packets. I like that. Also available are pickles, peppers, and onions. Nice. "Famous Seasoning" they add to the sandwich is mostly salt (See pic of packet/ ingredients). This location The first time I ordered I wanted a large sandwich but smaller side/drink. Apparently it doesn't work that way. Or at least not here. I couldn't get a large sandwich without large fries and drink. That's crappy. Second time I was in a line 8-10 people deep with one register open. So I stood in line for nearly 10 minutes without another register opening. Both times the roast beef (well done) was very dry and rather tasteless (except for the best saving grace of the horseradish). The second time I asked for extra "famous seasoning" which is basically salt with a few other things. I don't want salty meat- I want tasty meat. All in all, I'll stick with Arbys. read more

I'll never forget my first Lion's Choice sandwich, kind of a spiritual experience. It was refreshing to have something that looked and tasted like real roast beef. My daughter has picked this place as her favorite due to the perfect white cheddar mac n cheese. The Lion's Choice in Eureka has been the most consistent Lion's Choice location over the many years I've been visiting this chain, and I'm bummed I moved farther away from it four years ago. You can almost always expect freshly-cooked, crispy fries with a soft center (perfect!) and roast beef sandwiches cooked as they should be (not too rare and not too well done). If you're lucky enough to be visiting on days when employee Kate is working, your visit will be even better. Today's drive-thru experience and food was great! I was picking up lunch for my Pops, and right away a cheerful voice greeted me over the intercom. I recognized Kate's voice, as she has been an invaluable staple at this Lion's Choice location for many years. Kate's service was (and always is) exceptional, and she made the drive-thru experience efficient, positive, and pleasant. Not always the case at drive-thrus. The bag of hot and steamy roast beef sandwiches and fries were packed carefully and had extra napkins (always helpful). Thanks so much for the wonderful lunch! And, Lion's Choice, if you haven't given Kate praise or a raise lately, please do because she is the perfect example of who you want as an employee representing your brand. I love these restaurants I live in Ohio so I eat here whenever I am traveling through. Today I was greeted by a huge grouch, it's never happened before. The manager must have been having a bad day. This is legally the best fast food ever. I wish it wasn't only in Missouri, I live in Ohio and come out to Missouri once a year for a big dog show, but I spend the 11 months between each visit violently craving these roast beef sandwiches. I only recently discovered you can specify the rareness of the beef. That's incredible. And the fact that you can order a float or concrete with it or whatever just makes it godly. I'm three days into this dog show and I've been to the Eureka location three times now. My cargo van doesn't even fit through their drive-thru but they let me walk up to the window like a roast-beef craving zombie. They also sell tshirts with a bada$$ lion on it. There are several "musts" for me when I am in St. Louis and multiple trips to Lions Choice is one... this location is usually on the list because it's a hop-skip-and-a-jump from Six Flags (another must) so we usually stop in either before or after going to the park. I am not sure how Arby's survives the Chicago market, and Lions choice doesn't because it is 2,000% better. Arby's is microwave faux meat, Lions choice is great, succulent roast beef served with or without your choice of yummy cheeses. And, if you like, you can pour yourself a piping hot side of au jus! OMG, I want one right now and I literally just got back from the Lou yesterday...anyway... They also sell BBQ Beef, BBQ Pork, Hot Dogs, chili dogs, baked potatoes, fries (with or without cheese) salads, soups and a couple types of sandwiches. But I have to be honest, they had me at Roast Beef with cheddar cheese and fries. I haven't looked back. They also sell desserts, ice cream (frozen custard and chocolate covered cones) and cookies but when in St. Louis, I save myself for Ted Drewes frozen custard, so I can't say if their ice cream is any good. So if you happen to be in St. Louis, and want to try some local fast food, try this place....you won't be disappointed!!! read more

great roast beef sandwiches! the customer service is great as well. reading the other reviews, i did not know you cannot order a larger sandwich without the side and drink. if they had the option of getting a larger king sandwich without side or drink i would be hear more often :) update: i was going by a previous review that said you couldn't get a large sandwich by itself. i was wrong. i went there today and you can. i am such an idiot. one thing that was upsetting was that we asked for au jus for the four large sandwiches but we only got one small one, boo. the fries were limp and soggy as well. my children loved the cookies! they said it was the best fast food cookie ever. read more

This is my first visit at Lions Choice. To be honest I have never even hear about this restaurant chain and didn't know what they served. I saw someone eating a sandwich in line at Ted Drews and it looked good so I decided to give them a try. I am so glad that I did! I ordered the roast beef sandwich meal. I would have to say that it was the best roast beef sandwich I have ate from a chain. It blew Arby's roast beef out of the water. Lions choice actually tasted like real roast beef not processed meat. I would defiantly eat here again and recommend it to others. read more

I tried Lion's Choice a couple if times previously when in StLouis and was not impressed. I am glad I have them a second chance. I found their French dip sandwich to be very good. It is some thing different that you cannot get at a certain fast food roast beef giant. They also give you the choice of a few different types of cheese. I like the cheddar and Swiss. If you are just passing through the area, don't miss out on trying the Provel cheese unique only the St Louis area. It is deffinetly something different and perhaps an acquired taste. Don't be scared! The service at this location was also fantastic this time. They only have a few sandwich choices but a ton of sides, soups, and salads. This Lion's Choice is a great stop during the Six Flags season. I eat here often for lunch. The staff is usually friendly, and prepared to handle a rush. They cater to specific orders. (IE: You can order meat well done, toons, and extra bags for Au Jus.) Note: The soda fountain tastes good, but the local water (or the water softener) gives it a syrupy taste sometimes. read more

We had never ate here before so we got our hopes up. Well consider us gullible because the food was shit. They told us that their roast beef was fresher than that of Arby's. Well I am here to tell you that if Arby's had failed a health inspection due to rat shit in their food they would have still produced better quality food than this place. In fact the only thing good here were the unsalted and Unflavored fries. Even those had to be in some form of sauce to make it eatable. But hey at least the customer service was nice. I'm giving this location a 4 because the food was a solid Lions Choice experience...and I love Lions Choice. However, this location is no where near as nice inside the dining room as the Ellisville location, which is my go to Lions Choice. The order line, drinks, and condiments station was cramped and difficult to maneuver with other patrons trying to order, walk through, etc. But, it was clean! So, if I were in the area and had a hankering for roast beef, I'd hit it up. read more

I love the roast beef sandwiches here. I always get a little extra seasoning to put on it. I get chipotle ranch sauce to have with my fries instead of catsup. Plus, I always treat myself to a $0.25 cone before I leave, even when I drive thru. Have dessert first whatever you can. read more

Would I go back? Yes. This is a good spot for a not so bad for you fast food meal. The roast beef is tender and flavorful and the sandwich is comparatively low calorie for fast food. The service was quick and the food good. Not much else to say about a fast food joint. read more

I've been a customer of Lion's Choice for over 30 years and I have to say it definitely hasn't improved in any area. They've changed their damn buns over the years so many times I've lost count and now they really suck! They had the perfect horseradish sauce, changed to something that tasted like plaster. They switched back finally and it seems close to the original. Today my wife and I ordered fries crispy and half were raw and limp. This location is not convenient to get to by any means when traveling on the high....however I am a big fan of the restaurant chain. My adult kids chose this as their fast food option when they were small so we have been fans for a long long time. So when I had the chance to hope off the highway circle way back on the service road to get to the place...well I thought nothing of it as I was sure it would be worth the time and effort. When pulling in I notice the parking lot was quite bare for dinner time but I continued on thru the drive thru. I was met at by a nice enough person to take my order "yeah" all is good.....until I pull away and begin fishing in the bag for a fry.....the first pull at the fries was wimpy wet things.....now I am making the best of the situation so I take another jab at the bag (dark out so I have no idea what I am pulling out) so the next hand full is a bit warm....ok so it's getting better ......the next pull of the fries I decide no more yuck.....(I hate bad reviews because that means I had the bad experience!!). So next I decide to get busy with the pulled pork sandwich.....my favorite option on the menu.....so very dissatisfied I may have gotten the bottom or side of the last possible meat options available.....hard crusty pieces.....so bad that I pulled over on to should to see exactly what I was up against if I decided to eat this "sandwich......oh boy I was done with that sandwich after seeing what meat was chosen to be the best meat for the customer at the window........shame on this staff tonight. Superior, real roast beef, carved fresh. Awesome seasoning. Yummy BBQ sauce (the tangy one). I can't imagine not getting the sandwich in the King version with double meat. Just incredible. Ordered 3 sandwiches with no cheese, and I also asked for horseradish sauce. Got home with 3 sandwiches with cheese, and no horseradish sauce. Restaurant wasn't busy. Tried to call the store, they weren't concerned/didn't care. Long story short, I paid $20 for three sandwiches that were wrong. They want $15 an hour? Screw that nonsense.
