This Vet Hospital saved my puppies life! Hands down the best animal hospital I've ever been to. Incredible customer service, incredible treatment of animals, incredible everything. I walked in with a puppy mouth filled with tartar and gingivitis and walked out with a happy dog and a good antibiotic. Not only did they remove the tartar, but they ended up not even needing any extractions or pain medicine because they did the work so clean and perfect. I brought my sweet dog to be spayed. When they shaved her inner thigh they nicked her and gave her a severe razor burn. They tried to say she had carpet burn. Nope, we don't have carpet. They tried to say she might have been dirty and needed a good scrub. Nope, my daughter is a groomer. My dog is always clean. Would they scrub that hard anyway?? My dog is a golden retriever and loves everyone. She was fine when we arrived. That all changed when we saw the tech and vet in the exam room. She was absolutely terrified. She had never shown that behavior toward someone. She hid under the chair, peed...I mean she covered the floor with pee, after just emptying her bladder, and her eyes had the whites showing she was utterly terrified. She never stopped shaking and was inconsolable. We will never go back. He was a newer vet and doesn't have what a good vet has... the loving connection to animals. read more

I had to have a large dog euthanized. after sitting in the car for almost an hour 85 degrees I called back into the office to see if they'd forgotten about me they said "no they were preparing a room for us " after about another 20 minutes someone came out to get us they took us into a room and we filled out paperwork she told me to hold my dog if I couldn't do it she would bring someone else in because the shot was painful (The shot was to make him drowsy) she immediately left the room within about one minute after she had left my dogs had started swinging violently back-and-forth back-and-forth back-and-forth Similar to when you see a blind person that cannot control her head movement And they move their head back-and-forth only this was much more violent He started to walk in a circle and finally his rear end gave out and he laid down his head was still moving back-and-forth violently I was holding his head trying to hold him still and talking to him to calm him down his front feet were digging into the flooring We were crammed in a small room between a table and a wall he didn't even have enough room to lay down he started gasping for air (there was absolutely no room preparation if that's what they call it ) The vet popped her head in and said "oh his head isn't all the way on the floor yet" " i'll be back in in a few minutes" his head wasn't on the floor because I was holding him to keep his head from swinging back-and-forth My dog started drooling and gasping for air clawing at the floor she finally came back in and said "oh has he been doing this very long?" She told the assistant to hurry up and shave him so they could euthanize him. He kept gasping for air and shaking his front feet clawing at the floor she listened and said "there was no heartbeat take as much time as you need" and she walked out of the room. My dog started gasping for air again it was the most horrible experience I've ever had i've had to put sick animals down before and they didn't go through anything like this my regular vet had brought in a beautiful pillow for my dog to lay on a beautiful blanket to cover them up when I had to euthanize my dog at Reid Vet I would never recommend these people read more

This last time we were on hold for 20 minutes to check in. Also they lost the paperwork for our 7 week old kitten and carried him around the parking lot talking to people before they took him in. DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE. Brought my cat in who was having trouble breathing due to asthma. Andrew Beachy listened to her wheezing, before stabilizing her breathing he took her back for an X-ray which freaked her out and made her breathing more difficult. She died from an asthma attack before they even brought her back in the room. No one(all members of staff) was apologetic or said sorry for the loss of a FAMILY MEMBER. Will never bring any of my animals back here. Will make sure I tell everyone I know to avoid this clinic. read more

I can not say enough good things about Linn Vet and Dr.Braat. My cat was very very sick - and being new to the area - I didn't know where to take him. A long time resident highly recommended Dr.Braat, and so thats why I chose them. They got me in the same day - and I was a new patient. a miracle in itself. I knew, with their team, he was getting the best care he could get - and that set my mind at ease, as you must know can be torturous on those of us waiting for news. I cannot imagine going through this without their kindness and support. Everyone was patient & caring, clear, communicative. They were expert & gentle with both my little kitten and myself. Unfortunately my kitten did not pull through. Diagnosis is still being tested, as this just happened today, but it is apparent he ingested something highly toxic or poisonous. How very hard their jobs must be. I do not envy them and the challenges they must have to face on a daily basis, not only with the sweet animal souls, but also with us emotionally attached humans. I am so very grateful and thankful that they were there for my little kitten and I. And special thanks to Dr. Braat for calling me after hours and again on a Sunday to keep me apprised of my kittens status. I am eternally appreciative. After today I'm finding a new veterinarian for my pets. Have an appt today and I call to say I'm here. I'm put on hold for over 30 min. After hanging up I'm still calling back (20 min have gone by) and no one answers not even to put me on hold. This is the 2nd time this month they have done this. Last appt I had this month they put me on hold for 45 min and it was 2 1/2 hours after time of my appt that they finally came to get my puppy. And looks like it's gonna be the same today. Went here for the first time this weekend for shots and a check-up for our chihuahua. The vet tech and vet were great and the price for their services is awesome! The only issue we had was the receptionist. When I called to make the appt., she was very abrupt on the phone. I thought maybe it was just busy or she was having a bad day, but when my husband took our dog in for the appt, he said the receptionist was rude and ignored customers. Other vet said that out dog needed surgery immediately, kept trying to rack up the bill, and made me very uncomfortable and had a indifferent attitude to our dogs circumstance. .They do not respect me and I have become they're victim. Once again I was strung along and lied to. Dr. Braat I was told came to the coast and saw everyone's horse except for mine sometime in January. I emailed the office manager, and she told me she would make sure I was on the list for next time, did I want her to send my horse's medicine. I told her yes, when it never came, I called the office and asked about it. I asked him about a support letter for my horse since I have no where to move him to, and am forced to fight to keep him where he's at until I can find something. unfortunately, he's chosen sides which is unethical and unprofessional. I received a call from them saying he will not be sending any medicine or seeing my horse again. Who is hurt here, my horse has to suffer because of this. I've been singled out and set up by this office they they set me up to fail. my horse is nearly 33 yrs old. Complete gaslighting. How cruel and low can you go here, to wait until my horse's medicine is nearly out, and pull the rug. They are trying to hurt me and my horse. I have absolutely no where to go with my arab after verbal agreements were made to not have to move him again. I have been bad mouthed and exasperated and this office has absolutely no respect or empathy, it's a big clique it has been a mentally abusive, power tripping experience. BE CAREFUL with these people, they don't care about your animal when you are denied service. They don't treat people equally. I put my trust in these people and I got screwed over all because I expressed concern about animal neglect from his client where I board. Not only are they harassing me and treating me like scum, Dr. Braat has chosen sides. UNBELIEVABLE I will tell everyone I know how these people are. In times of social unrest, this was the worst move, since my husband is Indian and I've been told go back to NY you stupid Jew from another boarding facility. I thought I found a good vet and tried to form a relationship since my horse is older and I needed help with him. Now the person who was trailoring him won't do it, because she's afraid to take him off the property for the local vet here, for fear that they will lock the gate and not let my horse back in. This is the only way to get my horse's medicine. I'm filing a formal complaint with the veterinary board and if they don't do something then I'm taking it to the American Veterinary Association , as well as a BBB and consumer protection. You people SUCK and no I will not edit this review like I did last time because of being intimidated. Your office treated me like shit, when I called and called and tried to be nice about needing my horse's medicine before, and you exasperated me when it was just about an emergency and you couldn't understand my frustration. MY horse's life matters! We took our cat to Linn Veterinary to get a microchip implant since we were moving him to a new city. I only hope we can find a vet clinic this good in our new neighborhood. Dr. Barlow and all of the staff were friendly and gave us good advice on all kinds of issues unrelated to the appointment (and we need it as novice pet owners). Dr. Barlow and her tech were amazing and gentle handling our cat. He was originally a stray, and he's skittish with most people, but they made him totally relaxed. They were also flexible. We had only scheduled the microchip, but when we realized he needed his vaccinations updated, they fit that in the same appointment. I don't know if we'll have a chance to visit Linn Veterinary again since we moved from the Mid-Valley, but I highly recommend it to anyone in Albany or Corvallis. read more

So glad Safehaven recommended this hospital and Ben Braat, the vet! This man is down to earth, common sense practice and very reasonable. I went to him to get a 2nd opinion and so happy with the outcome and diagnosis given. He reminds me of the vet I used to have in California prior to moving up here. Just practical common sense and extremely intelligent. This man saved me hundreds of dollars more that I would have plunked out if I stayed with the previous vet at the Lebanon Hospital, including the wrong diagnosis given to me.....and my cat would have still been suffering! The vet in Lebanon told me the reason my cat had scabs and losing her fur was due to fleas. I'm not stupid and know what fleas look like and the fact that I have 2 cats....both indoors, and the other cat doesn't have skin issues whatsoever! She also told me that some of her teeth had to be pulled. Come to find out, my cat has a skin allergy and with a simple injection to stop her scratching, her scabs are gone and her fur is coming back in. Also, her teeth are just fine.....no need to have them yanked out! I love this vet and the whole team!! It pays to get a 2nd opinion if you feel that something just isn't right. read more

Dr. Braat and his team have been caring for our animals for over 25 years and we love them. They are always on top of things and will do there best to fit us in even on short notice and are also available for after-hours emergency consults for their patients. Dr. Braat does house calls as well which is very nice if you have large animals or can't transport your animal easily. He is an expert clinician with years of experience and you can trust him to tell you the truth and give you straight answers without leading you on or suggesting unnecessary procedures, etc. Recently he has taken care of our a litter of pups for us and went above and beyond to help when one of them became inexplicably ill. He has a close working relationship with the Oregon State University School of Veterinary Medicine and often has interns from that program working with him at his practice. Bottom line is we highly recommend Dr. Braat and his team. He is a highly skilled, kind man who cares about his patients deeply and always puts their best interest first. (PS - regarding the review warning of "inhumane euthanasia" of a cat, nothing in my extensive experience with Dr. Braat and the other veterinarians working at Linn Veterinary Hospital leads me to believe anything that is said in that review is accurate. The vet's know what they are doing, but the desk attendants are idiots. They didn't know the answer to a question, so instead of asking someone who did, they said there wasn't. Now I don't get my dog's ashes, it was hard enough loosing him. Hire new attendants or you'll be loosing a customer. read more

Since the first day I brought my dog here to this place and he started seeing Dr Andrea the very first time I new this was the place for us. The staff is always courteous and excellent and Dr Andrea is just absolutely amazing and gentle with our baby boy always and always explaines any procedure to us fully before she does it so we fully understand it I tell you she's just fabulous. Our dog had a hernia one time near his rectum an it was pretty bad and he needed surgery they said it was gonna be $400 an somthin dollars which we didn't just have write then an there so we told them that and they went ahead and did the expensive surgery without any money down with only us telling them we would pay some when we got paid an then pay the rest on the next pY day and they were fine with that and they went ahead and did our dogs surgery. Linn Veterinary Hospital is by far the best vet clinic around they truly care about the animals and it's not about the money for them like it is for most of the vet clinics around these days. Watch out for cruel euthanasia's. I was REFUSED a sedative for my cat, and her last moments were of fear, terror, pain, struggling to get away and yowling loudly with all her might. It didn't matter to this young arrogant vet. I was told by her "I got the job done" meaning she killed my cat and that is all that mattered. Seems she doesn't believe in a peaceful death. Dr. Tess Jarmain compared the yowls and struggles of my cat, to her taking a common blood draw from an animal. So if you hear your pet yowling or screaming with a blood draw at her hands, then owner beware and forewarned. Cold, callous. When I complained to Dr. Braat, he called himself a "coward" and would not even tell her to use a sedative from now on. "I don't teach medicine" I was told. Demand a sedative for your ill and old pet, or find someone that will do it humanely! Tess Jarmain is a 1 year graduate of 2010. read more

First I would like to say that I am a third generation Dr. Braat client. My mother took all my pets there when I was a kid, and now I am almost 30 and have continued to take my animals there still to this day. Generally I give the "business" a 5 star when I have dealt solely with Dr. Braat. But there have been a couple incidents that have really knocked it down a couple stars for me (they are when I have not dealt with him). Main issue for me, not regarding animal care, is most one member of the staff. A red-headed lady that has worked there for years. On multiple ocassions I have heard her insult clients to another client after the first client left the building, tell other people about how the specific client (that just left, or they just got off the phone with) pays their bills, (or lack their of), and then other personal information which should NOT be divulged to another party. I had a male cat with a urinary blockage (he was unable to pee), they had me wait for several days before taking him in. By the time he was taken in, too many of the toxins had built up and he passed away while they were trying to unblock it. They had me leave the office and check back in an hour. When I got back they told me he had passed and had me go into one of the rooms, and brought me his body crammed in a box, covered with urine (despite this I still picked him up out of the box). They left me in there with him for a while, while they got some information on cremating him for me. While I was there waiting, the red-headed girl (that still works there to this day, and mentioned previously) began yelling and cussing at one of the other employees. After about 15 minutes of yelling she walked back in and said that they could handle everything, I looked at her and said I don't want you to handle his cremation, it's very rude and disrepectful to cuss and argue when I am going through this (pointed to my cats body), and when you know I am in here. While she was saying she was sorry, I picked up my cat (dripping urine all over me) and put him partially back into the box (as he was actually way too big for the box). This was in 2008. Our older-than-average dog hurt his neck and had to be left there overnight for observation. I did not check the kennel situation before agreeing to leave him there and I wish that I would have. When we got back the next morning to check on him they said that we should put him down mainly because he was having big issues regulating his body temperature. I wanted to see him before I made the decision, upon going back to the kennel area, it was much colder than I thought a short-haired dog should be left in (I was chilled even being there). So I opted to give him a couple days before deciding to put him down, within 2 hours of being out of their cold cement kennel his body temperature was back up to normal, and he was doing more than just laying there not wanting to eat, he was eating like he should. He did get back to being how he was before his neck injury. I got a puppy who was sick and quickly came to realize it had skin issues, they did not do any tests and made assumptions it was just one specific thing, the puppy started having changed skin color, bald patches, and they still didn't do any tests, after 3 months of looking up stuff online and talking to a couple people, I decided to call and request a skin scrape (as suggested by everything online and then asked by someone if she was diagnosed with mange)... Everyone was very surprised that due to all the symptoms that a skin scrape was not done. Upon going in for the appointment they mentioned her just having a food allergy and getting her on some allergy food, well after a few hours she did determine that the pup had demodectic mange. This was a somewhat newly graduated vet, so I don't mind this slight error. She is a happy vet that has great animal handeling skills, and I do still plan to use her as the pups primary vet while she is still at this office. Lastly, I have an older cat that usually gets a bladder infection every other year. Some of the vets at this office that have seen her, don't prescribe enough medication to her (for her weight) to clear it up in one 10-14 day treatment regiment. It usually takes a total of 4 appointments and 3 checkup regiments to clear it, when it would take a lot less if they would give her the correct dosage. Edited to add: We did try a different vet once when I was a child, but due to that vets mess up on fixing a dogs broken leg and letting other people charge care on our account (without our knowledge or permission) we came right back to LVH! We have not had any billing issues at LVH thankfully! read more

I was definitely not pleased with this veterinary hospital, may have been the vet I had, Dr. Braat. I drove over an hour, from Dallas to Albany with my miniature horse to get her teeth floated. I had heard fellow barn owners they liked his work and they recommended him, and he was cheap, $70 for the sedative and the hand float. He didn't have any way of holding my mare's head, except one person holding the float halter. Her head was going back and forth uncomfortably. He only based his floating off feel, he didn't look inside. It took him maybe 5 minutes to do it...our usual equine vet was out of town and my mini needed done, and he took well over 15 minutes. I brought her home and two weeks later, she was still packing food, worse than she was when I brought her in before the float. Dr. Braat clearly did not do a good job, and I had to call the vet and tell them they needed to do something or refund my money so I can get a good vet to come. They told me they would have a vet fix anything without charging me, but I still have to drive an hour and use my fuel again for something that should have been done right the first time. I am going in Monday, so we will see how this other vet goes. And will be making sure they aren't charging me. Until I see how this other vet is, I would not recommend this hospital. read more
