Best fried chicken I've ever had. Asked for spicy and the leg and thigh pieces were perfectly crisp and had a great bite to them. Juicy and delicious, if it wouldn't kill me I'd eat this all the time. One star loss for kind of dingy place (chose to take out instead of eating in) and the biscuit was not great. Great chicken, the mashed and gravy was tasty and dinner cost me less than $6. Recommend 100%!

Lindy's - awesome chicken without the 45 minute wait!

Bottom line: If you're in TLH, and you're seeking out unique-to-TLH restaurants that span the gamut, then any of the Lindy's (Orange Ave., Lafayette, N. Monroe are the only one's I know personally) fit the bill. I have been to the Southwood Lindy's - but it's more upscale and the very nature of an upscale Lindy's is a minor affront to my inner proletarian. You BET Lindy's is getting a whoppin' five-star rating from this guy. As Art S. so eloquently stated in his review methodology, ratings need to occur stacked next to their comparables. (Comps). And Comps in TLH, in my opinion, are ALWAYS also in TLH. It is ok to cite "how things are back in the big city" - but folks, do it sparingly. TLH reviews are geared towards folks who are presumably looking for best-in-TLH options... (ok, enough of the soap box). Five stars in class (Class being 1. TLH, 2. Locally Owned, 3. Iconic Fried Chicken Outlet, 4, Exceptional Gizzards/Livers (yes, a subset, but an important one) and 5. Locally renowned. There ARE good chicken outlets elsewhere in town. 'Fact, one happened to open up two doors down from me on Park Ave. But Lindy's is a part of the TLH experience, whereas no matter how "delectable" any fast-casual / QSV outlet is in town, the experience you receive generally mimics the one in Tacoma, Tempe, Tillamook, Topeka or Tucson. But the thing is, we're in Tallahassee - so why not enjoy an experience you simply can't get outside of Tallahassee? - That experience is Lindy's. (when you're off jet-settin' to Houston on that Continental TLH-IAH direct, knock yourself out with one of the fast-casuals over there!) Why is Lindy's so good? 1. Livers/Gizzards fresh at 11:30 every day. The good stuff. I'm talkin' just like the country store gas stations in the surrounding north florida counties. (even that one country-esque "city-slicker" gas station at the trecherous intersection of Old Bainbridge and Tharpe...) 2. Chicken Salad. It's from Lindy's, so, as can be imagined, it's sourced from Fried Chickens. Can't extend this out to parallel the Portlandia skit concerning actual Poulet Pedigree, but I've stretched it to the point where I can reference the skit so that if you're unfamiliar with it, you - in turn, can check out both Portlandia and the particular skit involving sourced locally-raised chickens). 3. Chicken Filet Sandwich. I'm not, by any means, knocking the Chicken Filet (spelled incorrectly) sandwich available at an other outlet, or similar chicken sandwiches sold at innumerable franchise outlets across the land. Instead, I'm merely putting this one up on a well-deserved Corinthian pedestal as an example after which all other similarly intentioned sandwiches can model themselves. It's remarkably good. Remarkably good. 4. The Pork Chop Sammich. As the name implies, it's a sandwich, with a pork chop in it. (Yes, bone-on). 5. Decor. Old-school, diner, naugahyde, cheapie panelling, low ceilings, all the charm that yesteryear extended to our previous generations. Looking for a time-machine to transport you to a period when social activitism REALLY was social activism, and not the lazy, sloth-like whining of 2016? This is the sort of decor you can imagine in the 60's and early 70's. I'm not saying this would have been found in Paris, '68 - but definitely you could have seen these interiors all throughout our own civil strife of the mid+ years of the 20th century. (O.K., I'm about to reign it in. Bear with me...). 6. Staffing. I've never ONCE been to a Lindy's and experienced anything short of a respectful, courteous, professional and cheerful exchange. 212 Headhunters could learn a thing or two from the hiring process here!

And its 4.4-star rating out of 600+ via Uber Eats was the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience. Looking through the menu of Harry's, I took interest in and ended up ordering their fried grouper sandwich with Harry's collard greens, and a key lime pie, which both were items I had an interest in trying while visiting the city of Tallahassee. Whether it be Grubhub or now Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is convenient. Much praise to the Uber Eats delivery driver, Dezi, for arriving with my order at a reasonable time, as well as meeting me in front of the hotel. And Dezi also confirmed that it was me grabbing the order, which I cannot thank her so much for. Once I retrieved my order, it was so hard to not smell it inside of the elevator while heading up to my hotel room. First, I want to say that I was satisfied with the presentation of what I ordered. However, I was not satisfied with the way it was placed inside of the bag, which led to the collard greens leaking slightly, and the cream of the lime pie being splattered around the container. Now my mouth salivated prior to taking my first bite of the grouper sandwich, which appeared big! It could have easily turned into the only meal I ate for the evening and I was not complaining about that. It tasted just as good as it appeared with the addition of tartar sauce which I put a whole glob of it on, tehehe. The grouper sandwich made me forget about the way my food was placed inside of the bag. After letting the grouper sandwich settle off my taste buds, I went for the collard greens, which I enjoyed outside of picking out the chunks of meat! There was a point while eating the collard greens, I said to myself "This is good!". If you love collard greens as much as I do, then I recommend Harry's collard greens, but keep in mind that it has meat chunks inside of it. Now, I saved the best for last, which was the key lime pie! Mm... It was basically a cheesecake in the form of lime pie! And oh my was it tasty! I would be lying if I said that I left some crumbs behind because it sure was satisfying. Okay, Harry's you have won over this traveler from the Midwest. Being that I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille again whether it be Uber Eats delivery or takeout whenever visiting the city of Tallahassee. Service: 4 | Ambiance: N/A | Food: 5 | Overall rating: 4 ~ Keep moving Forward ~ Thomas G

During Sunday brunch, we were seated quickly, even without reservations, even while it was very busy. There were lots of people ~ the venue is cute and quaint... my friend, however, was stuck on the paint chips and holes in the wall. The food was great. I got fried deviled eggs (yummy), fried catfish, red velvet waffles, eggs and corned beef hash. The catfish was extremely fresh. The red velvet cupcakes came with a cream cheese sauce that tasted more like Krispy Kreme donut glaze or just a sugary sauce. I wish it had more of a cream cheese flavor. I wasn't pleased with it. The corn beef hash was good. My friend got the chicken and pancakes. The chicken was delicious, perfectly fried. The customer service was great ~ warm, attentive, inviting, quick, and well managed to be so busy. Jordan, our server, was amazing! The ambience and crowd were nice, diverse. Unfortunately, the speaker wasn't working properly so initially it was incredibly, awkwardly quiet. When the speaker did start working, it sounded busted. Hope you enjoy if you ever go visit.

I managed to secure a nice table with not even a 25 minute wait thanks to a very courteous and professional manager (thank you, Steve!). At the table, everything was clean, shiny and the server was prompt despite a very busy morning. The crowd, obviously, seemed to be mostly college students and parents. I'm pretty sure during the week it's the Capitol Hill crowd. The food was tasty and really hit the spot. Coffees fresh brewed all around, of course. We started with the Breakfast Poutine for appetizer which was hearty and all enjoyed. For entrees, two Southern Benedict, the Waffle Flight, scrambled eggs and bacon. All the food was cooked to order, presented nicely and the taste exceeded expectations. Also, kudos to our Server, Jose. We'll likely visit again and enjoyed the meal. We drove to Tallahassee that day, but unfortunately got caught in heavy traffic due to President Trump speaking in Sumter County near The Villages. As Soon as we realized we would not make our reservation, we called the restaurant to explain the unavoidable circumstances and asked if there was any way to move our reservation to another time that day. Initially, we were told no, so we canceled the reservation. Shortly afterwards, the restaurant called back and informed us we would be charged a cancellation fee of $ 150 - $ 25.00 per person. I completely understand having a cancellation policy, however, charging $ 25 per person for a lunch reservation during unavoidable traffic circumstances felt excessive and unreasonable, especially after we proactively called ahead. What was even more disappointing was the complete lack of flexibility or compassion during an important family milestone. I explained repeatedly that we were desperately trying not to miss our son's graduation celebration and were even worried about missing the ceremony itself because we were stuck in traffic. I asked about every possible alternative- a later dinner reservation, appetizers only, or even moving reservation to another day. Ever request was denied except for a 4 pm slot, which still was not realistic given the traffic situation. What upset me the most was not just the fee itself, but the unwillingness to work with us. A more customer focused approach could have been allowing the $ 150 to be applied toward a future visit. Because of this experience, my family will NEVER dine at Hayward House, and I would NOT recommend it to other FSU families celebrating special occasions.

Here is where we go for that special occasion. Tonight Carson was our waiter and he has years working here for Drew (Alas absent tonight), Savour's owner. Carson knew the menu cold along with favorite recommendations. Drinks were excellent and they have a great wine list (although the "by the glass" list was pretty short). We elected to split the Wedge salad (trust me it's more than enough for a $3 up charge) and had the Whipped Feta Cheese with Pita to go with the salads. Charcuterie board was not on the menu tonight. Since Christmas is around the corner and a Prime Rib looms, we elected to forgo steaks. Carson described the Scallops and the description matched the dish exactly. Four big scallops with a great sauce mounded on a bed of fresh corn and (sorry I didn't see what else was there). I had the fresh fish (blackened Flounder) in a New Orleans spicy sauce and rice (I'm not doing this justice). Carson advised this was spicy and it was. It was out of this world. A home run by the Chef (please come out some evenings and say hi - and take a bow). Dessert was a Lava cake with ice cream, one of 4 desserts offered tonight. Trust me, if you like gooey chocolate (like having a chocolate soufflé), this was the keeper. Service was impeccable. We missed Drew welcoming his guests but his team has been there a long time and were quick seating us. Carson was everything you could ask for in a waiter. Fully knowledgeable about the food (he started in the kitchen years ago), checked back often, staged the timing perfectly (how rare is that!) and we are sure to ask for him again. A great evening and the rain had stopped by the time we were leaving. Of course we will be back.

Now... about breakfast. It's a No for me. Enough. I had the Nashville Honey Chicken Biscuits and they are a FAIL, a No. Dry, sad, biscuits with fried frozen chicken nugget in it and not worth $16.
