The store is charming and has a lot of different candy to try. The pics on the wall show that this is an old school operation dating back a while and that just adds to the pleasure of the shopping. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly, and since I already had my mind set on the taffy, it was a short but sweet (excuse the pun), visit. The taffy itself was very tasty (I chose assorted colors and flavors), and the cute presentation of these little bundles of chewy candy, was the perfect gift. We only bought 2 bags one as a gift and one to sample and share, and the only regret is that we should have gotten more! Do yourself and your friends a favor and make their day by offering up a little piece of colorful, sweet, traditional ocean front specialty which is the Salt water taffy, and get an extra bag.

Lots of choices for fresh, homemade candies, fudge, popcorn and more. We had ice cream and each of my girls picked another treat. Prices were reasonable and the employees both helpful and knowledgeable about the products. We will definately be back!

This store has never asked a kid to leave ever, I have never seen such a grumpy old obnoxious individual since the 80s, and I've been coming here for the last 30 years with my children and now my grandchildren. They always go out of their way to make sure everybody is accommodated and they even set up face painting and tattoos for the kids outside. This is a very welcoming store to all and a family candy store in downtown York Beach, Maine. Considering you came in so hot with that hat on and you were definitely trying to make a political statement in a candy store that caters to families.

I'm not familiar with the area, and when I saw what looked like either another candy store right next door or possibly an extension of Sweet Josie's, I casually asked the woman behind the counter if the two stores were affiliated. Not only was my question ignored the first time, but when I asked again, I was actually called "rude" for asking about another business. I was shocked and completely taken aback, especially with my son standing right next to me. Needless to say, I left the items I was about to purchase on the counter, walked out, and went into the candy store next door. The difference was night and day. The woman behind that counter was professional and helpful, and the store itself was immaculate. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Sweet Josie's. Many of the candy bins were half empty, several contained a mishmash of different candies, and the chocolates behind the glass were not particularly impressive. Customer service matters, and this experience was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. If you're looking for a better experience, I'd recommend going next door to Sweet York Beach. I was greeted immediately, the store was clean & organized, with a great variety of candy & chocolates.
