I specifically worked with Monica, who gave me her personal cell in case I had any issues or questions - plus it was much easier to go back and forth texting versus a call each time. She rocks! So I ordered 100+ flowers for Valentines day @ this shop hoping based on the Yelp reviews it would look some what nice. These Yelp reviews I would review more carefully because I am not sure they are real, or true or being honest! So I am there to pick up some flowers and not waste a bunch of time since I figured they were going to be busy.. First, they don't even know where my flowers are?? I waited over 10mins in line just to pick iup.. Next they show me some flowers that state "GASON" not Jason. They said didn't you order ONLINE? NOPE I called in. And then I look at these flowers and it was just sad in a vase when they TOLD me on the phone they are bouquet NOT vase! OK! Fine it's in a Vase, but then I look at the flowers and said what are those??? So this is what $100 dollars flowers gets me?? I looked at the $100 flowers and said HUH?? That's it?? It get's worse -there regular customer had the audacity and said "be nice to the ladies".. Ok, fine -but after they can't locate my flowers (15mins), they gave me flowers in vase that says - "GASON" not Jason, who put's inside a Vase, which I did NOT order and spent $100+ that had a very poor sad looking arrangement?? I said to there regular customer "mind your own F** business" and he say's your boyfriend must like those.. So they have homophobic (hates gays) regular customers that come in there, but I am the one being the JERK? Who goes into a flower shop and expect them to screw up your order after you paid $100 and then wait 15mins to find them, brings out a order that misspelled your name (GASON) and have a regular customer of there to hate on gay people and getting harassed for them screwing up my order and wasting my time?? There regular customers harasses new ones and can't get my order correct, but I am the jerk here? I WILL NEVER BUY FLOWERS FROM THIS SHOP AGAIN! There are two identical flower shops located next to each other. I didn't know that they were rivals until I randomly decided to walk into Linda's and the owner revealed to me that her shop was there from the beginning and that she was actually a trained florist as opposed to crooks next door. That's for the local gossip column.... I guess... I walked past flower pots of gardenias and roses and finally rested my eyes on tulips. The flower pros perhaps know that it is hard to maintain tulips and that they die out pretty fast. The tulips I picked up at Linda's lasted about 5 days with daily stem trims. I enquired whether any peonies they might have stacked somewhere. She wrote down my number and after an hour she called to inform that they might have some for me. The woman (possibly owner) who called me to set up a delivery time was very polite. The delivery man was very sweet. I stopped in on V-Day to get some flowers for the gf. The lady who helped me out asked me how what I wanted and how much I was willing to spend and then she proceeded to put together a very beautiful bouquet. The service was friendly and efficient and the costs were very reasonable, especially relative to most of the florists in the Loop. I also like that they're open until 7 pm, which comes in handy when I'm feeling the urge/need to pick up some flowers on the way home from work. My only gripe -- albeit very minor -- was that the flowers did not seem as fresh as I would have liked. Maybe it was due to the weather but they seemed like they had been sitting out for awhile. I had to meet my girlfriend at the airport at 9 pm and they were able to deliver the flowers to my apartment ON TIME and I was able to get them once I had arrived home from the airport. Not only did they call me to tell me they were leaving a delivery for me the driver went back to my house to take the delivery around into the alley, through my backyard, and up the stairs to my deck to ensure I would get it. Armed with only an idea that I had found on Pinterest I walked into Linda's and sat down with Gloria who walked me through what flowers would work best for the wedding and why hydrangeas wouldn't be a good choice for the bridal bouquet. By the end of our conversation I had a better idea of what I was looking for as well as knew that they knew what they were talking about. With the little bit of information that I was able to give them and the conversation we had they were able to make beautiful arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres for the church and wedding party. Julie was my florist for my July 2010 wedding. I honestly think of her as a friend by the time the wedding day came b/c of her great business approach. We met several times to go over flower designs. I gave her pictures and ideas and then she put a flower show together for me. I was able to see samples of what a typical table centerpiece or bouquet looked like. They were beautiful from the start. Then any feedback I gave her she used. I went back as the wedding approached to find a way to bring down my flower budget. She kept my design but adjusted some flowers and touches to bring the cost down by $700 dollars. She didn't overcharge like many florists do when they hear the word 'wedding.' Julie was invested in making sure things looked gorgeous. She woke up at 4 am to put everything together on the day of the wedding-to ensure the flowers were fresh. She brought the bouquets to the salon on the day of the wedding! Then her crew set everything up at the wedding, including the runner she sold me for a very affordable price. After the wedding, she went to the banquet hall and set everything up and made sure things were perfect. She didn't drop off everything and let the hall take of of the centerpieces b/c she is a perfectionist. Julie wanted to make sure everything looked how we had planned before she left. My guests couldn't rave enough about how beautiful everything looked. Yet, it wasn't overly expensive. Actually, she gave me lots of discounts and didn't even charge me for any of the delivery/set up. Julie works with a budget and shes also creative so she can still find ways to make centerpieces/bouquets look fabulous on a moderate budget. She has a great eye and is quite talented. My experience at Linda's Flowers and Balloons was amazing. I was looking for a florist for my wedding and walked to six flower shops in Wicker Park/Bucktown. Gloria at Linda's Flowers was the only person from any of those six shops who talked to me. Every other place took my phone number and email and promised "to get back to me soon." Only one of those places ever did, and only sent me a form email asking me to call them back. However, after seeing what Julie, our florist, could do with a low budget, I must say that I am fully impressed. She found ways to lower the price, yet take nothing away from the beauty of her arrangements. She placed cylindrical vases with floating flowers in them all along the aisle at the church. She then quickly went over to the reception hall and made beautiful arrangements at the entrance and on the tables. It looked fantastic. She is dedicated to her customers.
