I stumbled upon Sprout by happenstance; as I was driving down Damen I saw what looked like plants in the window and had to drive around the block to see if my eyes deceived me. I like visiting plant shops and had just recently been thinking I wanted to get another, so how serendipitous was this? It's a nice shop. Staff are friendly; although there was one employee checking another woman out when I first arrived and started wandering around, that employee sought me out when they were done to ask if I needed any assistance, and I appreciated that. They have a large and spacious shop, as well as an extensive outdoor section. I didn't find anything that I wanted today. They had some really nice plants, but I didn't really find something I wanted that I didn't already have. Their prices seemed a bit high... though I will admit I haven't been to a plant shop in several months and with inflation making prices increase so sharply recently, that may simply be the nature of the cost of living in 2022.

It's just a wrist corsage. Worn briefly and discarded. But i was tired of buying the same variation of white rose/ranunculus. It occurred to me to ask my fav plant store (the one I've had to stay away from because I spent too much there). I asked them it they could do one that was pretty but interesting, less typical. In line with the very cool things you find in both of their stores. I could not be more delighted--gorgeous! They even honored my last minute request to try to add a little blue. Please check out their plant store too. Really cool stuff and great advice.

BEST experience at Sprout! An exceptional place to buy plants, from wonderful people. Turned my day around.

Exceptional place to buy plants, incredible customer service, turned my day around completely. These three in particular were fantastic!

Super cute shop. Great selection of euphorbias and indoor house plants (Hoya, staghorn fern, pothos, fern leaf cactus, ferns, monstera) you get the point. I did find the prices a little high but I'm not familiar with the city and it's market so that could be normal for the area. However, their pot selection was awesome! And reasonable priced. Cute spot!

The customer service is impeccable. As a new plant enthusiast, I had no idea what plants to buy as Christmas presents for my boss and mentors. The quality of service I received during that first visit was so great, I will refer my friends and family here for plants. My second visit was just as great as the first when I had to find another plant. The candles here smell amazing. I can't say enough about this shop.

In last minute need of a couple of bouquets for a and those these lovely folkx were in the middle of preparing bouquets for a wedding, they stopped to put together something nice for me. Sprout home is the perfect spot to get a lil something stunning for a loved one or to fill your own home with flowers and a treasure or 2 thank you Sprout

This place is amazing! Of course we went home with a few plants. Found some plants you can't find everywhere and of course plenty of ones you can. I'll be going back soon because I talked myself out of one and wish I hadn't.

Another plant store. Customer Service was decent. You got some attention but no stalkers. The array of plants was decent. A good size display of indoor plants. The price was competitive. But still another plant store.

They offer an exceptional plant shopping experience. Tristen and Axle were incredibly helpful, and owner Stephen's passion is inspiring. Their expertise, paired with a remarkable selection, creates a plant paradise. Their kindness and knowledge truly sets Sprout Home apart. If you are anywhere around Chicago, I highly recommend them for all your plant need.

This one was called "Champagne Toast" and very fitting for a birthday I was attending.

I always get beautiful arrangements from here. I first learned of this place when my ex used to get me flowers from here. This is my go to place for flowers for any occasions. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The only issue is finding parking if you're picking up. Once you do find parking it's a quick in and out. My puppy also loves the fresh beautiful flowers too.

Alas my quest to find the perfect house plant and live my dream of being a plant dad has been fulfilled. I'm surprised that in my past eight plus years living in Chicago, I had never heard of this place! Sprout Home is the plant mecca, the lost eighth wonder of the world, the 'Hanging Garden of Chicago'. (I'll stop). But in all serious, this place is beautiful, and the staff are so knowledgeable and welcoming. I've been in the market for a plant or two to complete my new place, and was brought here by a fellow plant-loving friend. Immediately upon entering, you feel as though you've entered the jungle, and the aroma of fresh flowers fill the air. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, I was immediately greeted by the nicest worker (didn't catch his name but had a great haircut and glasses). At first we were just browsing, getting feels from plants that spoke to me. When it was time to get serious, we request some assistance and general plant care knowledge. We decided on a beautiful Bird of Paradise plant, with huge green palms that would grow into a large, soon to be staple in my apartment. I also took this very unique cactus, that I just couldn't resist. The entire store is beautifully curated with any type of plant you could imagine. From wispy air plants, to large outdoor trees, to cactus that looked over 100 years old. They have a section of fresh cut flowers to make bouquets, beautiful glass containers to create your own terrarium, and pots of all shapes and sizes for planting. If you're looking for quality plants from experts, look no further. I have not seen another place like this in Chicago, a truly unique, magical place.

bruh the air in this shop is so frickin' C R I S P! I just moved to Chicago and have been looking for plants to populate my home - my choices (before discovering Sprout Home) were limited to Home Depot's Garden Center, so I was SO glad to come to Sprout and find some of the plants I was struggling to find: - A cute, tyrannosauric peperomia - A string of pearls succulent - A beautifully striped calathea (which I did not get but will be returning to purchase once I've replenished my plant budget). Not to mention some very lovely pots (WITH HOLES IN THE BOTTOM, bless). Great selection, fair prices. Yay Sprout!

Also, it's cash only, and make sure you bring your own boxes to carry your plants. The volunteers are really nice and helpful here. Prices started at $3 for the smaller plants and went up from there. The organic green house not only offers children's and adult classes, they also have a wonderful community garden which is open Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm. it is also the only teaching greenhouse from the Chicago Park District, located within the grounds of Kilbourn Park. They seek to connect people to nature, teach sustainable gardening practices, and promote fresh and healthy food to people of all ages through garden-based programming. Kids can enjoy the Garden Buddies program for toddlers, plus the Harvest Garden and Eco-Explorers programs for youth. Adult gardeners can attend a continuing education series and other workshops sponsored by The Friends of Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse. Although the park is one of the smaller ones in the city, they have a soccer field, tennis courts, playground, basketball court, Kilbourn Park also offers different after school programs for kids and a summer camp that is quite good.

They do have a good sized field house here, with programming for a variety of age ranges, so it's worth checking out the CPD activities schedule. There's lots of green space, but also baseball fields, tennis courts, and a nice sized playground. The playground, too, serves a nice range of ages. But what I liked most about this park was the greenhouse and outdoor natural play area. There are places for kids to sit for various activities that take place here, an outdoor kitchen, and a large greenhouse. It's called a "teaching greenhouse", and is unique amongst Chicago parks (at least as of 2026). There's a program called garden buddies aimed at toddlers and I wish I lived closer to be able to have my child participate in it! There's also a plant sale each year. If all that weren't enough, an orchard--the first in a major metropolitan city in the US!--was planted in 2008. Apples, pears, and more--including the paw paw, an unusual, native Illinois fruit--grow on these trees. Currants, berries, and more have also been planted here. I'm excited to keep an eye on their events.
