Primrose is my new favorite place to get flowers. I will happily come here instead of getting flowers from Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. I stopped in and told them the price point for a bouquet I wanted and worked with me on finding the right flowers and for me to my price point. They didn't like the way one of the flowers looked so replaced it with a more healthy looking flower. Exceptional service , kind staff and excellent selection. Will come back!

Going to make this review short and sweet. Thank you so much Abby for making me a sweet and simple flower crown for my October cemetery shoot! I came here with my dog in late October because I wanted a tiny and simple flower crown for my hair. I stated I wanted the flowers to be dark or black and Abby ordered the perfect floral arrangement with my specific corpse bride request. I'm now patiently waiting for the flowers to dry up so I can have it for a future project. The staff here gave me an extremely reasonable price on short notice and I also purchased a cute vase with three dead flowers that I included in my Day of the Dead themed cemetery shoot. I highly recommend this cute flower boutique and will use their services again without hesitation. I'm including two photo images of me at Graceland cemetery wearing the floral crown that was handcrafted by Abby herself

Awesome local business on Southport!! You get the best of both worlds with Primrose - reasonable prices on high quality/healthy plants, and incredibly knowledgeable staff invested in helping you make the right choice and keeping your plant healthy. Very happy to have found this spot! Bonus points for having reasonably priced pots and being dog friendly, too! I will be a repeat customer and highly recommend!

Small plant shop, with some houseplants as well as a lot of floral stuff; I'd say it seems to lean more heavily toward the floral direction. They also have a decent collection of pots as well; nothing unusual really, but a variety of sizes and colors. When I stopped in I didn't see anyone in the shop, though I know there had to have been because the doors were open and plants out front on the sidewalk. I didn't leave with any plants but I'd stop in again if I was looking for a floral arrangement.

Here are a few pictures! (Note that I asked Primrose to arrange a bouquet for me made up of greenery only, since green is my favorite color.) They did an incredible job, prioritizing asymmetry and "wildness" and lushness, just as I hoped they would!

It's the arrangement in the far left (the yellow and white one). The other one came from shop in the west loop.

I ordered an arrangement today as a gift. The order was for $100 (plus $30 in tax and delivery). It was delivered as requested but the arrangement looked sickly. I contacted the shop and they informed me that that I was looking at the back (with one unfortunately broken off flower). I'm embarrassed that a $130 gift looked so terrible. The shop insisted I couldn't see the front (by the photo sent)....and that it had all sorts of flowers I couldn't see. Needless to say I won't be ordering from them again. I order from this shop based on the reviews. Maybe if you go in (in person) you get a better arrangement or better service.

I've visited this plant store several times during this last year when I got into indoor perennials. They have a wide selection of foliage, aroids and large standing plants. I definitely needed help at first with selecting the right plants for my north facing home and they were extremely patient and instructive! Not to mention their store pup, who was as welcoming as the owners are. They have occasional thematic sales that I find really cute, for Harry Potter week they were selling the birds nest fern as gillyweeds which was hilarious. They're now selling Hoya kereii for Valentine's! They also have a new selection of terracota and glazed pots in the back. Smaller selection than most but they are happy to help drill a drainage hole for any pot which is a huge help! I've picked out two beautiful round 6 to 8 inch pots from their collection. Overall lovely shop for beginners and plant lovers alike!

As usual, my Yelp peeps came through and truly delivered. I was looking for a florist in Lakeview to buy my sister and brother-in-law a bouquet for their wedding anniversary and truly did not want to resort to Jewel/Whole Foods for flowers. This place is a gem. They have several freshly-made bouquets, which can be purchased with or without a $6 vase, or the staff will build a flower arrangement based on your need/ price point/ occasion. This place just gives off a great vibe - small, amenable, professional, and pretty quick. I will definitely return. Oh, and even though Southport can be busy, I find there is plenty of parking on the nearby streets. Just have the Chicago Parking app handy.

Primrose Chicago is fantastic for weddings! Leah was so kind and patient in working with us to find a decor solution that fit within our budget. One of our favorite wedding planning memories was designing the bridal bouquets together with Leah - she's a pleasure to be around! She and her team provided a nice arch with beautiful flowers, centerpieces, and all the other wedding decor we needed. 10/10 would recommend Primrose Chicago as your wedding florist!

BEST FLORIST AND PLANT SHOP AROUND! Cant recommend Leah & her team more. They have great attention to detail and excellent customer service. I'm a repeat customer and they make a note to incorporate my favorite flowers into every arrangement! Thanks for always making my day!

My fiancée and I stumbled across this place by pure coincidence after having brunch on Southport. Turns out we had been searching for a house plant for months since the start of the pandemic. We walked in and the woman who helped us could not have been nicer or more helpful. We've been looking for something both hearty and easy to care for and tried several places. Turns out fully grown house plants are expensive! Anyways, we found a fully grown money tree that we love! Everywhere else we have tried, this plant was $150 or more, so we were pleasantly surprised when she told us that the plant only cost $75. We left with the plant, a beautiful pot/tray combo, and they took care of the repotting for us for less than $130 all in. Friendly, helpful staff, great selection, and a cute friendly K9 helper - We will definitely come back!

Outside - Primrose, a floral and garden shop, has a brick exterior with large glass windows and a decorative sign featuring flowers and leaves.

It's my goal to visit every personally owned plant shop. This was stop 6. This shop was busy with activity and shoppers on various levels. It was very tight and hard to move around but the spirit was kind enough that we all worked around each other. Nice shop. Plants were a little pricey. But this shop meets my expectations of a shop designed for those who love plants. I found a couple of plants that caught my eye. This store, though small, has a variety of plants.

Above & Beyond. The owner, Leah, is super talented, sweet and truly is the kindest person who will really go the distance with customer service, reasonable prices and gorgeous floral designs. She genuinely cares about clients! She designed gorgeous floral (bouquet, boutonnières, wrist corsages & centerpiece) for our wedding November 3rd downtown Chicago. She made everything VERY easy to look at and guided us thru designs while collaborating with us. I called to confirm what we wanted and she calmed my nerves while asking how I was doing and feeling! Above & beyond. I even asked her to switch from darker red roses to red, red roses the week of the wedding. She did it!!! Delivery was extremely inexpensive and right on time up to my room. She also gave us a few complimentary boutonnières!!! If we could give 10 stars we would. This florist is thee best in Chicago.

I heard of this store months ago, when I was looking up plant shops to visit. I've driven by a few times because it's only about a mile away from me. Finally, when I saw that Charlene H.'s review, I first added her as a friend and then decided I needed to get to H+T sometime soon. Serendipity would lead to me to be just a couple blocks from the shop today so I decided I should stop in. That was a mistake, because I spent a lot more money than I had intended to spend. This store is at its core a home decor store, so it's not specifically a plant shop. But they DO have an extensive collection of plants, both indoor houseplants and outdoor plants. They have starters and they have seeds as well. Of course they have just about everything you need to care for your plants too: pots, gloves, potting soil, pruning shears, and so on. They have a really nice collection of pots, by the way; in addition to some of the ones I've seen at just about every plant shop, I got a couple others that I haven't seen elsewhere and are quite beautiful. Their prices are not out of line with other plant shops in the area. But I didn't stop there, because they have a seriously beautiful collection of items to decorate your home. I restrained myself to some extent but I could have gotten a lot more. I bought a photo frame, a basket for the new ZZ plant I purchased, a raven ZZ, and the two pots. They have really beautiful picture frames here so now I need to identify photos that I want prints of so I can buy more frames. (Can we bring back film photography, please?) Clever and cute idea to put photos of Lizzo in all of the frames, I dig it. I really like my plant basket too, so I may need to buy more of them. They had some really nice side tables that I would probably use as plant stands since some of them are small... or if I had more fancy furniture in my home too, I suppose. This is a store that I would love to buy things from because they'd make my home look sophisticated. The staff were really friendly, welcoming, and happy to help me. They charged me twice for one of the pots, but I realized that before leaving and they fixed it straightaway. Then when I realized I had bought a 5x7 frame instead of a 4x6 frame, the return was easy. But they do have a more conservative return policy than a mass merchandiser would, so be sure that you understand the return policy before you purchase.

This is a tiny shop, but it is PACKED with botanicals…read more The shopkeeper was friendly and quite knowledgeable, but he wasn't wearing a mask and this was a few days to a week before the mask mandate ended in Chicago (February 28, 2022) and I'm already a bit wary so I headed out. I'm not sure if that was on purpose or he didn't realize, but it was getting a little crowded in the store for me anyway so probably would have been ready to leave regardless. There are lots of plants, and my understanding is that not everything is on display since they're short on space in the main area of the shop. They have a nice collection of orchids, too; I actually considered getting one, but changed my mind. For some reason I think of them as being somewhat... difficult, or needing more attention (whether that's true or not I'm not sure), and I have enough responsibilities with the plants I already own (especially one of my calatheas that's being a bit of a drama queen at the moment!). I may have to try my hand at an orchid sometime, though. The aforementioned shopkeep gave me a huge boost of confidence that I could. In our discussion he mentioned the crucial point that orchids are just plants that flower more often than other botanical houseplants folks might keep, even though many green houseplants may flower under the right conditions. Once an orchid stops flowering, they're still plants without the flowers for you to care for. Food for thought! They also have a shop pet, which was a surprise! I don't like lizards, but luckily this one was in an enclosure. I was a bit startled, though, so be forewarned that the little guy is hanging out in his plexiglass home--he won't hurt you, since you won't be able to touch him, but I as I said, I was surprised! They don't have a huge collection of pots, but the plants all looked lovely and healthy. They have some popular favorites, but it also seemed they had some more unusual and harder to find plants. They have displays for live plant walls for which you can consult with them to install in your home or office, too, if you wish. Parking on this stretch of Damen is touch and go, and it's paid, so plan accordingly.
