This is what remains as the Chinese Cemetery. Located at hole 1.

I can't believe I've never written a Yelp review about this golf course. Maybe cuz it would have been a thumbs down not a thumbs up. Hubby & I've played here multiple times over the years. Like the city of San Francisco there hills throughout the 18 holes. Up and down, down and up. Today we both golfed fairly decent. The fairways are mostly green but patches of brown overgrown areas with tall blades of grass and daisies. But overall acceptable. Pros: * senior resident rate $24 * great views especially hole 17 - the Golden Gate Bridge * civilized bathroom after hole 5 * clearly marked signs to a particular hole Cons: * cart fee $50 for one rider or $50 for two riders * cart path only unless you've got an handicap placard. Then it's 90 degrees. * hole 16 needs work. Un groomed with too many daisies. * this is more of a peeve. During the pandemic the course became a walking trail as the course wasn't being used for golf. Post pandemic it's become a habit for walkers to use the course as a walking trail which potentially can result in injuries. FORE!! There are signs posted but this a golf course after all.

One of many amazing views.

Everywhere you look is an amazing view. If only the City gave the course enough money to properly maintain the greens and tee boxes.

Played here for the first time yesterday. Pretty enjoyable. My first time playing 18 holes. Cost was around $45 to play in the afternoon hours. Amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Course itself was decently maintained. Lots of walking though so I would recommend you bring a rolling caddy. Will be back!

This is a short, par 68, tree lined, public golf course in San Francisco with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Lincoln gets a bad rap because the tees, fairways and greens are not manicured like a country club. Also when it rains the course becomes so soft that your drives will plug and disappear in the fairways. With all that said I still enjoy playing this course that requires very accurate tee shots on some drivable par 4's. It also has 2 back to back par 3's (#16, #17), with views of the Bridge, that measure 230-250 yards, that will decide your final round score. I've only played Lincoln Park in tournaments that actually ban golf carts. Any other time I would play here I would get a cart because this course is hilly and there are no cart paths.

Ask the Community - Lincoln Park Golf Course

Can you rent golf clubs here?

According to the GolfNow website they do offer Rental Clubs but call ahead to see if any Covid policies has suspended the use of rental clubs.

Does Lincoln Park use poison to "manage" unwanted animals (gophers, etc)?

I'm not sure but I'll ask the grounds crew next time I play...I will say there's a coyote that has a tracking collar and that usually hangs out near hole 3-4-5 and I have seen it feed on rats and gophers

Luckily Winston from Lincoln Golf Course was around to let us know dryvebox didn't show up today. What a freaking bummer. What a flapping disappointment. I contacted dryvebox via fb, email and voicemail. After leaving a voicemail, I got a call back in less than 30 seconds. Within 5 minutes we were already set up with a new tee time. This was my first time playing the course in like 8 years, and I forgot how beautiful this course is. The course itself is on the tougher side, but fun for all skill levels. It definitely challenges all different parts of your game. Even with the rain, the course drained pretty well. Bunkers were in a good shape (I'd know, I hit into plenty of them lol) Something I never experienced before in all the years playing golf was that I had to share a cart with a random player. I got paired with a group of 3, so I ended up sharing a cart with the 3rd. Luckily I'm comfortable enough to do this and the guys I played with were fun. It's something to think about if you are a single, that you might have to share a cart with a stranger. If that's not your thing, I'd prolly walk with a push cart. It's a hilly course but it's a good walk. Pace of play is a bit slow (expected on the weekends) so plan for a 5+ hour round. They had some issues with the conditions of the greens, which is much better now than it was back in the fall but at the time of writing this, they are offering a 15% off green fees, which is notated on their booking website. Recently they made a change to their parking lot, where you have to pay ($3/hr or $15/all day). On top of the green fee, you'll have to pay $15 just to park. I get it's to support the Presidio but with the green fees the prices they are I feel like that's plenty of support. Not a deal breaker but definitely carpool if you can do your group can save some cash for drinks at the turn instead. Overall, as I try to play every course in the Bay Area, price aside, is easily one of the most beautiful public courses you'll find in the Bay Area. Definitely will be playing again.

(Too bad there aren't more reviews of golf pros on here!)…read more I'm a 18 handicapper struggling to find consistency in my game - I wanted to meet with Dan to get a swing check up. Dan's a super nice guy, he had nothing but nice things to say and is a really positive teacher - I think this is key especially for beginners. Technically I think Dan did a good job focusing on the part of my swing that was broken and not focusing on the parts of my swing that are just different (e.g. my grip etc.). It definitely wasn't not a cookie cutter "lets work on your grip, then your takeaway, etc." approach. Dan gave me 2-3 very tangible tips that I think will eventually save me 1-3 strokes and I would definitely come back to him (and recommend him) if I come back for a lesson again. He even gave me range balls after the lesson. Only negative would be that 30 minutes ($80) is too short, and $150 for an hour is out of my price range. If I could I'd get together a group of 3-4 14-24 handicappers and do a 90 minute group lesson for (presumably) the same rate. So in summary - great guy, very enjoyable/helpful lesson and I think could be a good coach for a wide range of players. How I found Dan: New to SF and not lucky enough to be part of a club so I went to my nearest course and pick Dan based on a couple decent online references.

I'd give Dan 5 stars but for the $90 per 30 min lesson.... then again, I feel like I got my money's…read moreworth. In one lesson he fixed my irons, in the next he fixed my driver. Now don't get me wrong, I went to the range several times after each lesson and was good at first, then terrible as I either over corrected or went back to my old habits, but then it just clicked. This morning i was hitting 220 to 250 yard drives into the wind when 200 has always my best. I'm booked for a 3rd lesson because I was screwing up my driver so badly yesterday on the range, that I was sure I'd never fix it on my own, but then I remembered Dan's insistance on swing plane, and I tried what felt like a crazy low and wide sweeping back and thru swing - and BAM I hit a monster drive perfectly straight. A little tinkering and I hit something like 20 in a row that would count as my best drives ever if I were on a golf course. What i liked about Dan is that I told him I'm more or less a once per year golfer which happens during an annual vacation when I'll get in 4 or 5 rounds, and my trip was coming up and I just wanted some basic help. So he gave me some really basic and easy to emulate tips. It is more or less completely different than my previous swing, but really, really simple too. After this morning I don't feel like I "need" a 3rd lesson.... but then again I am having trouble switching btwn my irons and the driver - they are pretty different swings. So if another $90 has me doing that - man will I be excited to see how that translates on the golf course. I'm not a beginner - I've taken lessons in the past - the last time 10 years or so ago, so I'm not sure that a beginner would have instant success. Then again, I had really bad and ingrained wrist and swing plane issues - so who knows. But for me - 3 lessons and 6 or 7 buckets of balls to hit the ball the way I did this morning.... amazing. As someone else said - skip the new driver and go with the lessons.

This is an older muni course (maybe 100 years old) but renovated within the last 25 years to make…read moreit PGA Tour sanctioned, so tournaments could be played here. Very rare for a muni course to be given these specs. So now this ain't your basic muni course anymore, it is now more premium...in greenkeeping, in price and demand to play. This was my first time playing on SF soil and I play almost weekly. I've played a few spots in Monterey, Half Moon Bay and this course has visually the same terrain, with coastal wet mornings and cypress trees all over. Now this course has no ocean views, but Lake Merced is visible from a few holes. I was enamored with the cypress tree lined fairways and the beautifully maintained grass all over. Now with all this high level groundskeeping, though beautiful is also where all the challenge is here. Because this course is fairly flat, they're using the cut of the grass to be the challenge or the penalty. The rough cuts here are borderline insane. A good challenge for a pro/near scratch golfer but very penalizing and difficult for an average to high handicapper. A 3 inch rough doesn't sound too bad, but it is long enough that if your ball touches this rough it will 1) be hard to find, unless you are on top of it; 2) lose any roll/distance as once in this rough, the ball will catch and stop, giving you a longer distance for your next shot; 3) it is hard to make a connection in this rough so that next shot will usually not be flush/ideal. So the basic gist of this place is 'stay away from the rough'. But for an average golfer that is just so improbable. Even a nice shot to a green that may miss just by a couple of feet could easily find this rough. And to be that close and to have a very difficult shot as a result, is just too much for me to swallow. Just took the fun out of the game...for me. So a tad too difficult for me, also pricier than what I could do on a weekly basis. $150 to walk on a weekend. My regular golf buds and I usually play much performance friendly courses for about $70ish. So this is definitely more of a special occasion type place. I still want to come back someday and see how I fare now that I know how things roll...or more accurately how they don't.

From the driving range to the clubhouse, the place looks in immaculate condition. Everyone from the starters to the pro shop were all great and friendly. The had a drink cart rolling around, and the drinks were fairly priced, around $10 for a high noon. The course itself is quite challenging. First time playing here in awhile, so not knowing the layout, I still happened score a 79 which is a good score considering I didn't know to play it. The views from certain holes is breathtaking. Lake Merced, never looked so pretty. It's one of those courses where it challenges you with it's dog legs and tight fairways. It's a fun experience if you love to shape the golf ball. Driver was used on most holes, but after playing it 3 wood or 3 hybrid off the tee is the smarter play. Pace of play was a bit slow, but that's normal for most public courses in the Bay Area. I think the main issue I have is the greens. Not in the best of shape, inconsistent speeds, definitely on the slower side, and honestly I expected better for the price point of a round. Luckily, I was able to find a discounted tee time via GolfNow, which made it somewhat golf affordable, especially for a TPC course. Without it though, I think the full price point (bay area resident rate) versus the quality of greens makes this a course that I won't play often but will soak it in whenever I do get a chance to play it.
