Housekeeping: 5 stars! Professional and super hard working. (As other reviewers have said.)…read more Equipment and fitness floor: 2.75 stars: they have a few interesting machines, but they don't have enough of the more popular standard ones. There is one of each of the weight machines so the wait times can be pretty long any part of the day. They could repurpose some of the open mat area, which is unnecessarily large in comparison to the area dedicated to the machines. Group fitness classes: 3.5 stars: they have a lot of good classes. There is not enough variety, as other reviews noted. I remember when they had tons of Pilates mat classes. Now they focus mostly on Zumba, which is wonderful...we need more strength training (like Pilates or such). Spa and pool facilities: 2.5 stars. The women's locker room is well maintained, and is the main reason why we continue to choose this gym. They recently installed some very temperamental locks in the women's locker rooms, and the numbers on the locks are super small to read...seems like an ADA issue; As it is, the housekeeping staff needs to help with lock-outs all day. (And they still keep the place sparkling clean! Hence five stars in the first category above.) The women's steam room is offline chronically due to repair issues. And so women who use the pool need to walk, dripping with cold pool water, through a lounge/lobby area while the steam room is under construction. These conditions have been true for over two months now. And there is no good timeline for when the steam room and direct access to the pool area will be restored. The steam room was under construction in 2025, too. Security team is incredible. Bottom line: if housekeeping and security could run the whole place, this would be a five-star review; If you need to get through your workout efficiently, and don't want to wait in line for a shoulder press or leg press, maybe check another gym with more than one of each type of machine. If you want daily cardio-type fitness classes, and don't need machines or weight lifting work, this gym is a good option. Just don't bring a bag that you need to stow in a locker to avoid the hassle of getting locked out! (Bags of any kind are prohibited on the gym floor.) We have been members for a long time, and so we have a reasonable rate. I would not pay the current prices, however, as it feels like too much for what they currently offer. Hope this helps you decide on the best gym for your needs!

Half of the gym is top roping, and the other half is bouldering. This gym feels quite old, especially compared to the shinier, newer facilities of Movement MV and Santa Clara. There's a really nice view from the gym, especially from the second floor. The climbs here are interesting and creative - the route setters are doing a great job. The gym section is quite big, with lots of machines and weights.

Day 57 of my side-by-side comparison of Movement (fka Planet Granite) vs Mission Cliffs (Touchstone…read moreGym)... look. You're both getting five stars but got different reasons, but both have really made the best of their footprint to maximize their space. +Mission Cliffs (MC) change up their routes on a rotating basis and with much more frequency. They now also have partner climbs (5.11- on the left, 5.10+ on the right for two climbers and two belayers!) - while i love/hate the MC double overhang in the corner and the slightly higher number of true stemming routes, +Movement (Mvt) has some very unique and fun features like that monster stalactite, more aggressive "pretend you're Stallone in Cliffhanger) overhangs and way more in the way of slab practice routes (which are NOT my forte indoors) are various ratings from chicken sh-- to "i totally trust my toes" + not for most but crack climbing. I think Movement has easier practice routes for first timers and those who are angry at their palms being TOO supple, but def more variety at Mvmt, but the cracks in the cylinder at MC are truly a level up. - - both have very limited free weights space/benches compared to your normal "gym" gym and you might find yourselves adding a second membership or using your building or friends building gym between climbs. Both also have small footprints and get very busy even outside of peak times ++ amazing classes though at both + see the bulletin at Mvmt for when shoe resoling comes onsite. A+ perk to arrange that onsite. ++ both have tons of community get-togethers ranging from theme nights to run clubs to game nights (last two at Mvmt) though MC started a group puzzle activity and love the MC memorial pins for their 30th anniversary. + Both have study areas. Mvmt is more of a lounge, MC is a short scramble up from the bouldering. Slight edge to Mvmt but kinda cool that MC requires approach shoes ;-) the high up stretching area at Mvmt though with the views of Alcatraz and the GG Bridge though.... wow + love love love the music at MC (Dan is the man), Mvmt is much more "eclectic" but some of the 6am EDM covers by Ava Max could be skipped (sorry). Did love that the next morning it was Bach concertos and Mozart sonatas and i think the same staff. Again "eclectic" +/- Check-minus MC for transit accessibility (not the worst walk from BART) but parking is rough; + Mvmt for parking (though paid by meter after 8am), otherwise great if you're running or cycling from Cow Hollow Both have deals for new sign ups so keep an eye on those. Summer discounts, January discounts/no initiation fee. + way more generous bring-a-friend options at Mvmt (unrestricted plus one each month on top of free days), come on MC! Don't give us bad wedding flashbacks! Everyone loves the option of a plus one (just make sure you take some photos without that person in the shot... just in case... aka HIMYM "who's that bi---???") ++ MC resets like crazy but in a very organized cycle giving you a few months tops to complete your projects; Mvmt ratings are slightly more accurate but MC is starting to migrate away (especially in the new bouldering rating approach. Still MC is the Northstar of local climbing difficulty (suuuuure this is a black diamond/suuure this is a 12a) but come on, at this age, I need that ego boost!!!!! In the end, the best gym is probably the one you can get to the easiest and where your most reliable climbing buddy(ies) go(es). Both are gems and we're lucky to have them. And yes... now I've accepted that I'll just have a third gym membership and stopped doing one dinner out a month.

I can't say enough good things about Pamela. She's an awesome trainer, but what really stands out…read moreto me is just how knowledgeable she is - not only about lifting and strength training, but also nutrition, hydration, recovery, female-specific health, injuries, and how all of those things work together. I came into training with pretty limited knowledge about fitness and, honestly, not a great understanding of my own body either. Pamela has an amazing ability to take something that feels complicated and explain it in a way that actually makes sense. She doesn't just tell me what exercise to do - she explains why we're doing it, what muscles we're working, how it connects to an injury or weakness, and what I should be paying attention to. I've learned so much from her along the way. When I first started, I was dealing with chronic back pain and was pretty nervous about lifting weights. I had this idea that I needed to wait until my back was completely pain-free before I could really start getting fit. The problem was, that day never came. Pamela helped me realize that I didn't have to wait. She worked around my limitations, adjusted things when something didn't feel right, and gradually helped me build strength without making me feel afraid of hurting myself. That ended up changing so much for me. My back is much stronger now, and what used to feel like an ongoing chronic issue no longer controls what I can do. More importantly, I trust my body a lot more than I used to. One of the best and most unexpected results has been getting back into tennis. I love tennis, but because of my back, I had started to think it might be something I just wouldn't be able to seriously enjoy anymore. Getting stronger gave me the confidence and physical foundation to start playing again, and now I'm actively taking tennis classes and working on leveling up my game. I'm really grateful to Pamela because she didn't just get me stronger - she changed the way I understand fitness and my own body. She helped put me on a completely different trajectory, and I'm doing things now that I honestly didn't think would be possible when I first started working with her. I highly recommend her, especially if you want a trainer who really knows her stuff and can explain the "why" behind what you're doing in a way that actually makes sense.

She knows how to push you just enough to keep you challenged/sustainable without making it feel overwhelming. I can confidently say I feel so much stronger and way more comfortable in the gym now than I did before working with her. What I didn't expect was how much I would learn outside of the workouts. She taught me so much about nutrition and how to fuel my body. We also finished every session with an amazing stretch (honestly, it felt like a mini massage), which made such a difference and helped me take better care of my body overall. I really can't recommend Pamela enough. She's incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely wants to help you succeed.
