I think this is one of the best courses I've played so far as far as how it's laid out and well maintained. Definitely popular which is nice to see so many out and enjoying the course. Not hilly, lightly rolling with lots of trees but super pretty. We lucked out on the weather after a particularly wet week of rain for sunshine to greet us for the day. It was perfect conditions and I'm sure that added to other people getting out and soaking up the beautiful day. My biggest gripe here is people would glom together in groups of 6+ which is rough to play behind. One group was even playing doubles with over 10 people. Everyone was friendly and let us play through some even offered us to join their group but we were happy to play through without any pressure of others waiting on us. I look forward to playing here again; I loved it!

I love to take on new activities, especially those that are fun and get you out of the house on a nice day. Disc Golf is very challenging and fun, it's free to play on the course and discs can be very affordable. Here are few things I have learned about Disc Golf in the last couple weeks: 1.) Playing golf does not give you the advantage, playing with Frisbee discs is a completely new game. I'm still trying to get the hang of it, but at least I didn't injure anyone this time. I tagged someone in the gut last time, after they moved out of the way to avoid me. I'm a terrible shot and I admit it, but I'm getting better. 2.) The Disc Golf courses are really beautiful, I really enjoy walking around the park, the course is very scenic, especially when your disc floats into a bush and you have to play from there. Enjoy Nature! 3.) Disc Golfers are pretty laid back, they seem to enjoy themselves - music, drinks and even brought their pets. I met some pretty nice people this past weekend while out with my friend. They didn't seem to mind I was taking out one tree at a time with my disc. I really had a great time, especially since I wasn't keeping score. I'll get better as time goes on, as I do with any activity. I'll be out to play again in Golden Gate Park, so watch out for flying discs!! HEADS UP!!!

Cool park to play at. The course is challenging but fun. Also nice to get out of the city for a few hours and be surrounded by the trees. We will definitely be back to play.

It's the first course I ever played, but its still the best! Granted, I've only played one other course, but still! I never get tired of comin here. Every Thursday after work, I'm here. Usually with drink in hand. The course is very well laid out, with some pretty lengthy holes. Each tee has a little guide that shows you where the hole should be in case you can't see it. (On most holes, you cant see the basket from the tee) Only one that I can remember is graffitied up enough to be illegible. =/ It is very scenic, a great place to take your beer for a walk. It's a great course to learn on, with a midrange difficulty. Just about every single person we've come across on the course have been good people. There's one or two "pros" sometimes that take things a bit too seriously and come off a little dickish, but overall everyones cool, havin a good time. It's fun watching some of the guys come thru with bags STUFFED with discs, and seein how everyone throws. Most people have their own little pre-throw setup routine. Disc golf at GG Park is awesome. If you havent tried it, you should. It's the great outdoors, and "golf" with no green fees. Good cheap fun.

This course is pretty awesome. Clear directions as to where the basket is and where the next one starts. The people that volunteer to keep up this course sure deserve a PBR and a shot of Jameson for all the work that they do as I have never once seen the park in bad condition. If you are there towards nightfall watch out as it becomes extremely easy to lose your discs.

Climbing up to teepad 17 from the pin on 16 as the sun was breaking through the trees.

Patrick Brown and the volunteer crew do a great job at making and keeping this one of the best courses in the country. It is absolutely breath taking. I allow myself one round for watching and then one for playing hard. When I travel up from Socal I makes sure to put aside enough time to play GGP. GGP is a well groomed wooded and meadows course. Teepads are concrete and provide exceptional grip. Pin position indicators at each tee are informative and accurate. Elevation of varying forms is a factor on nearly every hole. Locals here are a great bunch. It's "San Francisco", not San Fran, and definitely not Frisco. Leave your Dodgers cap at home.

Parking on the street where we parked is 2 hours, which is enough time to take the loop and going to Lands End Lookout. The trails are well maintained. At the upper parking lot you can find a port-o-potty for those that really need to go. Thus, there are two onsite lots, we didn't see the upper lot, so there might have been parking there, but street parking worked out for us this time. There are indoor facilities at the visitor's center. Around 6 stalls, but there still is a line. We went on Sunday and it was a beautiful day, prefect for jeans and a t-shirt. There wasn't a cloud in the sky and no fog so the view was incredible. We could see the golden gate bridge clearly. We hiked to around to the look out, it was actually a leisurely walk, which is just my pace. I'm not a hiker. I didn't see any water fountains on the trail or garbage cans. even without those two things the trails were kept clean, no trash laying around and many people were carrying their own water bottles or other types of drinks. I'd like to go back and take the trail to the Legion of Honor. It's .6 miles so a little bit of a hike, but so worth it. It's beautiful over there too. I might have to find a 4 hour parking spot so I can really take my time, but if I'm quick we can make it in the 2 hour limit, but I'd rather not take my chances.

There's a variety of different terrain (flat concrete, grass, hilly dirt trails) in the park, making it suitable for dog walks, running, hiking, cycling, and recreational sports. It is far less busier than GGP, which can be great if you're opting for a peaceful stroll in nature. Although not as polished as GGP, the park is maintained fairly well. I would highly recommend this park if you're looking for a quieter, less crowded peaceful retreat in the city. I also suggest previewing the map first, as there are tons of different parks within the park, based on the activity you're going for.

The circumference of the lake is about a 2 mile flat loop. Upon entering the park felt very bizarre. You leave a nice neighborhood with nice homes then in a blink of an eye, you are surrounded by bare trees covered in moss surrounded by tons of small flat boulders. It was so bare and quiet that it felt like this portion of the earth had died. Very bizarre. You'll eventually find the parking lots which all connect together in some form. There's an $8 fee here. You can't see the lake from much of the parking lot, maybe in a few spots like where a boat ramp might be. I had to use a map in my hiking app to find which direction the lake was at. Once at the lake there are pretty much 2 trails that go around the same lake. 1 is at lake level and is a dirt trail. So it has a more hiking feel as the trail is rough with lots of heavy brush on the sides. Even tho lake level you'll only get a glimpse of the lake in only a few spots. That's because the brush is so thick and over grown that it'll block views to the water since you are at lake level. The second trail is a paved trail that is above lake level, so from most spots you are looking down on the lake. This is the trail to take if you want to take pics or just admire the water views. Also the trail to take if you want to bike or jog as it is a wider and smoother trail than the dirt one at lake level. I saw a separate swimming lagoon on one of the corners. It wasn't in operation in October when I went but looks like it could be a popular spot during the warm summer Santa Rosa months. This area of the lake is also the most landscaped as I saw lawn areas with picnic benches and nicer trees alongside the lake, even some very pretty small redwoods. I enjoyed my views most on this side of the lake. You can also add length to your route by connecting this loop with other trails. There's even a loop that connects this loop that goes to another smaller lake, which would make your route now closer to 4 miles. Nice spot may even have to bring a group here someday for a picnic day if ever back in the area.

This could be confusing depending on holes that overlapped each other on course though. The terrain is wild long grass with poison oak scattered everywhere. There are potholes all over the course with very little well trodden paths to follow around. To some extent the wild portion of the terrain is what it is, so of course this is just FYI cause I don't expect rangers to be maintaining the whole hillside/mountain area.
