Terrible terrible service. Cannot stress enough how rude, dishonest, and completely unprofessional these people are. Ruined a very nice dress I took in to remove a couple of minor stains. When I picked it up, there were new stains on the dress that were not previously there. OF COURSE, they tell me the stains were there before and they are faultless in the matter. The girl I spoke to when I originally brought the dress was standing right there, fully aware that they were not there originally and had been incurred while the dress was in their care. It looks horrible, much much worse than the couple stains that I brought it in with. But even more unforgivable is just how completely RUDE these people are. They don't listen, they just talk over you, offer to make no reparations, don't even offer any sort of apology. Nothing. Worst service I've probably ever had the misfortune of dealing with. DO NOT take your garments here unless you want them ruined and to subsequently be accused of lying and trying to extort some hole in the wall business with a tactless, dishonest lot of people running the place. I made this Yelp account specifically to review this business because I found the service to be that offensive. I've already told several people in my building to avoid this place. I still love them... and they seem to really love me! They know my name, they get so excited when I call them up to pick up or deliver my clothes. It's nice to be appreciated. But I just re-read my review and I don't know why I thought you could do self-serve laundry here. You can't. In fact, you can't even really get in the door the place is so cramped and tiny. Simply put, Lin Laundry Mat has drastically improved the quality of my life. Their wash and fold delivery and pick-up service could not be any easier: 1) Step 1: Realize I am down to only swimsuit bottoms for underwear. Call Lin immediately. 2) Step 2: In the 20 minutes it takes them to arrive for pick-up, I feverishly stuff all the dirty clothes I can find (which is usually everything I own by the time I end up calling them, unfortunately) into laundry bins and bags. 3) Step 3: Pick-up guy arrives. Blush as this sweet, unfortunate soul hauls 75 pounds (yes, that's right) of clothes out to his delivery bike (which is probably a U-Haul they reserve just for my ridiculous load). 4) Step 4: Call Lin 24 hours later for delivery, and all arrives within 20 minutes perfectly folded and shrink-wrapped. 5) Step 5: Sigh. Wipe away tears of gratitude. (Optional: Actually put AWAY the clean, folded clothes....) Almost 75 pounds of laundry typically costs me around $50, which is an incredible deal. They take credit cards, too. Yes, I did once find a random size XL thong (why do they even MAKE those?!) in my laundry load, but hey, for $50, I get clean, folded clothes, a new XL thong, and stress-free domestic BLISS. In the many years I've been letting someone else wash and fold my clothes, I can't say I've ever experienced anything quite as easy as Lin. Here's how a typical interaction goes with them: * You call and ask them to walk to your apartment and grab your laundry * They're at your door in 30-45 minutes * The next day you call and ask them to delivery your clean, folded laundry * They're again at your door within 30-45 minutes with a sack full of great smelling threads * The end If you're as lazy as I am, this is a remarkable service. Plus the fact that you can use your credit card to pay for your fluff & fold is something I've never experienced with other businesses of its kind. Cannot say enough about this place. I've been having my laundry done here since I moved to the East Village a little over a year ago and couldn't believe the difference in price and quality from the $1.50 a pound places I was going to in Westchester (seriously). I call on a weekday evening and am greeted with an ecstatic "JAIME! Hi! How are you doing?!" each and every time, as if we are the very best of friends. Let me tell you, Lin Laundry Mat, we certainly are. It literally puts a smile on my face every time I call. Who else can say that when they situation involves something as annoying as laundry?! "You ready for pick up?" is the next question, and within 10 minutes they are at my door. We usually send out our laundry once a month so two huge bags of laundry go at a time. I always ask if they want help but they never do. "Tomorrow?" they ask, and with a confirmation they are gone to do whatever magic it is that they do. A quick phone call the next evening, the same happy greeting, and another 10 minutes, and the laundry is delivered right to our door. Everything is folded, sorted, and separated into big plastic bags in our laundry bags. I've never had a problem with anything shrinking, coming back dirty, or missing either. Everything comes back exactly as I want it, with little to no ironing necessary (even for dress pants!) I don't think there is a better deal for laundry at .80 cents a pound. I dread the day I decide to move away from the East Village and need to seek laundry services elsewhere, but until that day, Lin Laundry Mat, we remain as one. read more

Been going here for two years and the service has always been great. The past two times, not so much. Last time I dropped off my canvas bag of dirty laundry. When i picked it up all of my clean clothes were placed neatly in a plastic bag and they told me it wouldnt fit in my canvas bag. When i got home I learned that my canvas bag was torn along both seams and had what looked like a razor blade 3" cross cut on the side. I decided not to complain and to keep using them. This week I brought another load in. When I picked up, a dry cleaned shirt had the same 3" slashes on the sleeve as if a razor cut it. When I balked, the response to me was "sorry, I don't know what happened...sorry....sorry". I argued for a bit and they didn't offer reimbursement for my shirt, or even a discount on the $55 i just spent on laundry and dry cleaning... read more

I was catching an early flight in a couple of days and once I was assured I would receive my dry cleaning in time, I left it for service. I was told to pick it up just before closing the following day. I called the day I was supposed to pick it up to double check and everything was a-ok. However, when I went to pick up my laundry, of course, it was no where to be found. Just my luck. Wouldn't have been a big deal to me except I was moving back home and was not returning to NYC anytime soon (and the items that I were waiting on were pretty important to me). I was frustrated but the woman that runs the place did a great job of rectifying the situation. She UPS'd me my items (internationally) at her expense and didn't charge me for my dry-cleaning. They were only a week behind my arrival. Considering I was open about moving away she could've just said ok to my face and then just let it be as I had no way of holding her accountable. Regardless, they operate with integrity and my dry cleaning eventually made it back to me. If I were back in NY, I'd use them again (just not when I'm in a rush :P ) read more

I love this place! I did all my requisite Yelp research when I first got to NYC 3months ago, looking for a place that wouldn't lose/destroy my laundry... They really aren't kidding, these people know your name (it's like Cheers up in here)... it's a great comfort in a rather anonymous city. Sure, your darks might be a little faded, but that's my only complaint so far, and I feel like it's par for the course when you're having your laundry done in industrial-grade machines. And you can't beat free delivery on these hot summer days. It's a great price, too. I can't even remember the last time I felt compelled to write a Yelp review but these guys are the WORST. Do NOT send your clothes here. They consistently lose things (five of my towels!) and give you wildly inaccurate times as to when they will arrive to either pick up or drop off your laundry, leaving you sitting at home for three hours on a Saturday, which is clearly not the best use of your weekends. To add insult to injury, the woman that mans the phones has very poor English skills and is extremely rude and defensive when she doesn't understand what you are saying. In addition, I once had to go pick up my clothes myself because they were unable to drop them off anytime within the next five hours. While there I noticed that they were co-mingling various people's loads. Gross. Seriously, go elsewhere. read more

I've meant to write so many Yelp reviews and this is the first time I've been truly compelled to do so. It might seem strange to be so enthusiastic about laundry, but this place is that amazing--such a gem and here are the reasons why: 1. They're the cheapest ($0.70/lb, you can't even get in Brooklyn) 2. They fold your clothes up nicely and tightly into this perfect little stack so nothing is wrinkled even if you let is sit in your room for 4 days before putting it away (oops) 3. They lint brush everything before folding it. I've seen them doing it... even seems a bit excessive, but I appreciate it 4. They are SO sweet and kind--they know your name (well almost, like Brice they call me Laurence, but hey, close enough!) and remember that your mom was in town or where you went on vacation or anything else you might chat about I just moved to Williamsburg and am seriously contemplating taking my laundry there across the L train. Since i found out a laundry service would be cheaper than using the laundry mat n my building- i tried this.. I called and they picked everything up in 20 min, which was great. Everything was returned the next day, nicely folded. Well- almost everything. I had included a dress for dry cleaning and a dress that could be washed but not put in a dryer. I called before I sent in the laundry with instructions. They said okay, the purple dress would b dry cleaned and the white one hung to dry, Of course, both dresses ended up bring sent out to get dry cleaned. GRRRR. I needed one for today, But what annoys me more is they acted like it was my fault when I called back inquiring where the white dress was. They stated I should have put it in a different bag.. Huh? No one told me that before... So if your laundry has piled up and you're not terribly attached to any of it, their service has a decent price tag and is convenient. If you have delicates or specific washing instructions- be careful . I doubt I'll use them again.. read more

The wash-and-fold is great, and you gotta love how they organize (in that towel, underwear, t-shirt order I love) then wrap your clothes. As this was my first time sending out my laundry, I was generally really impressed with Lin Laundry when they came and whisked away my dirty clothes and just-changed sheets. However, as their service continued, I was ultimately very disappointed by the end result of their handling of my laundry. Customer service? Speedy, helpful, nice... Great. But when my sheets come back looking worse than when I sent them... Something isn't right. When I send them back again, this time separating all of my whites into a separate bag for bleaching and make sure to tell the person on the phone that I need them bleached... And my white sheets still come back with some sort of weird gray dirt on the edges and the spot of blood that dripped from the cut on my arm is still there... Really frustrating (and gross). I think Lin Laundry probably gets a lot of great reviews because people are enthralled with the concept of sending out their laundry, and customer service is great. But my clothes never really felt clean, and the fact that I've sent this same sheet out three times and each time it comes back worse for the wear-- I'll be looking for a new place. I used them only 3 times before they lost a sweater. It wasn't that they lost my sweater that bothers me (these things happen), it was their response to the issue. The woman continued to tell me that she delivered all my clothes and that I lost the sweater on my own. I knew that I had not lost the sweater, as the whole reason for doing laundry was actually to have that sweater clean in time for a business trip, I noticed immediately after taking everything out of the bag that it was not included. The conversation with the woman regarding the missing item was completely non-productive with her continuing to tell me that all she does is clean my laundry and return it. When I asked if she would compensate me for even half of the cost of the $50 sweater she said no and hung up on me. So basically these guys are great until they lose something, then they take no responsibility and tell you that it's your fault to get out of taking any responsibility. read more

When the owners were confronted, she admitted that it would take a long time to dry on low heat. How can there be no reimbursement for the wrong doing of the Laundromat? I'd like to start off my saying I think the people that work there are very nice people. I enjoyed my first few experiences a lot, but I can no longer give them my service after a recent incident. I dropped off multiple pieces of dress clothing (dress pants and shirts) only to pick them up two days later and none of the stains were removed. They were nice enough to redo the pants for free and got the stains out. When I initially dropped the shirt off it had no stains but when I picked it up it had what appeared to be coffee stains on the collar and the chest. They tried for a few weeks to remove the stains which was very nice of them, but when they failed to remove the stains I was simply left with a stained shirt, no reimbursement on the cost of the shirt or anything of that nature. I asked if they had insurance for circumstances like this since naturally these things happen from time to time. The answer was no and so now all I can do is write this review in hopes that it could help someone else not make the same mistake. Very nice people but it's not a guarantee your clothes will come back the same. read more

They are cheery when the answer the phones all the time, are very flexible with their pick up and drop off times, and their payment method is really easy. I'm astonished at the number of positive reviews of this place, considering this is a laundromat. For many years, I've sat back on yelp and reaped the benefits of others' reviews, but the damage this place has wreaked upon my wardrobe breaks my silence. Their smiles and ability to remember my name almost guilt trip me into keeping my mouth shut. Almost. First, they've lost several items of clothing -- scarves, socks, leggings. Second, their machines are old, so they don't clean or dry that well. I've received underwear that still has girl gunk on it (TMI? Ladies, back me up on this, you know it's natural), clothing and towels with stains still on them, socks stuck in random places that aren't dry, holes in my shirts, and an abnormal amount of pilling. And the clothes just don't smell nice afterward. Okay, so maybe that's my fault. Having someone else do my laundry in Manhattan means I must suffer a few casualties. Alas, even their lower prices couldn't keep me -- I went across the street to do my laundry, which has been better, TENFOLD. But, I continued to take my dry cleaning back to them. Again, their prices are low, compared to nearby places: $4 / shirt $4 / skirt $7.50 / dress $12 / suit I figured since they sent out their dry cleaning to a place on 5th Ave., they said, it might be better. Wrong. First, even after pointing out the stain to them, I received the skirt with the stain still on. I wondered if they had even cleaned the skirt, or if they just ran an iron over it. I pointed it out to them again, they redid it, and the skirt was saved. Fine, minor inconvenience. Second time, when I dry cleaned my suits, I found one of the buttons on my slacks had broken in half. How do you break a button in half?! Those suckers are pretty hard to bend. I gave them the spare, and they re-sewed it for free. I'm so glad I save the spares that come with my suits now. Third, I had dropped my clothes off on Wednesday morning, and they told me it would be done Friday afternoon. Come Friday, it wasn't done. I was able to pick it up Sunday (no loss), but for comparison's sake, the place on 1st Ave., near 11th St., has a one day turnaround (e.g., you drop it off Wednesday morning, and it'll be done Thursday afternoon). The final straw -- a button on a blazer that went missing, another unremoved stain on a pair of slacks, and welt-like lumps and raised bumps on another blazer, I'm assuming because it wasn't properly pressed. And the dry cleaned clothes come back with a chemical smell on them. Shame on me for going there so many times. I've learned my lesson; next time I want to save a couple bucks, I'll buy a falafel for dinner. For your own (and your clothing's) good, go to the place across the street, at 1st Ave., near 11th St. read more

I've been using Lin's Laundry for over 4 years now. Ms. Lin as a person is absolutely awesome. She remembers your name and everything about you. Her service is impeccable. There might be a slight delay (5-10 mins) off of what is quoted but remember these guys are lugging 25+ lbs of laundry from multiple people on each run. Middle of a rainstorm or scorching heat, they will always be there. Think about that next time your lazy ass is too hungover to walk down the block and do some laundry. Its laundry service, not rush organ transplant service. I've moved three times and continue to use Lin even though there are closer stores that offer the same service. Nobody can match her consistency and dependable delivery guys. Not sure where the negative reviews are from at all, in 4 years, I've never had a problem.
