Never realized how something small like the convenient placement of the counter in front instead of all the way in the back can make such a big difference when I need to drop and go. Well lit, machines always in excellent working order, plenty of chairs to sit while you wait, free WiFi, and other amenities. I've actually parked myself in here for a couple of hours to work while catching up on doing loads of laundry after a few busy weeks.

I went to a couple of hot, nasty laundromats without luck. Finally found this place, with a bit of a/c. It was so hot at the others. The nice manager helped me figure it all out and now I'm an hour away from clean clothes. There's a 99 cent slice pizza place across the street which is pretty decent, too. Why is it so hot in NYC? The location is clean, and the service is efficient and consistent. 10th St. Laundromat has always accommodated special requests. (ie. Using specific detergent, dryer sheets, hang dry, low dry, color separations) I seriously mean it when I say I've never had a problem. I drop off once a week and I have definitely NOT noticed things going missing. It irks me that people are saying things like "you get what you pay for." I have to assume those people are annoying busy bodies with nothing better to do with their time but write misguided reviews for a respectable business. Here's my tip, if you're so truly neurotic about your clothing, wash it yourself - Because you're right, paying less than a dollar a pound will not get you the Taj Mahal of presentations.

The prices ($3.00 for a small washer, $4.50 for a larger) are pretty standard for East Village. I reckon that two small washers should be enough for most people's needs. Dryers are $0.25 for 7 minutes; the same amount will buy you 4 minutes in one of the extra large dryers. Bonus points for the large AC machine in the back during summer. Dry-cleaning services are available as well - $3-4 per regular sized items (dress shirts, dress pants) and $11-12 for a large windbreaker/jacket. The owners are pretty friendly but some of the staff members could really use some customer service training. All in all, tolerable, as mentioned.

Today, I came to the store straight after arriving at the airport to dry some wet clothes that were in my suitcase. The lady working in the store (who I also believe is the owner) told me that I cannot dry my bag of laundry because I did not clean it in there machines. I politely reminded her that I'm a regular customer, and I'll I'm asking is to dry one bag of clean laundry. She told me that "there is nothing she can do about it," and brushed me off. Despite the fact that this store charges MUCH MORE than other laundry stores ($6 for a single "medium" sized load of laundry, not including $0.25 for every 7 minutes of drying) I continued coming to this store every week for the last two years. Now, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Congratulations, you lost one of your most loyal customers.

The staff is also incredibly rude - they have told me to take all my stuff out of a machine just after loading it because they wanted to use that one, and somehow no matter where you stand you are in their way and they make sure to let you know they aren't happy about it. This place takes advantage of the fact that they are the only self service laundromat in the area and they exploit their customers. I walked into Supreme Laundromat for the first time, trying to act like I knew what I was doing. After about 5 minutes of being lost like Jack and Kate, I decided to be vulnerable and ask for help. We all need to be a bit more vulnerable at times. I broke down to Angie, who was the only person staffing the place that day. "This is actually my first-time doing laundry at a laundromat..." I said sheepishly with my tail between my legs. She laughed and patiently walked me step by step through the process. What a gem Angie is. I am now an absolute PRO with my eyes, heart, and soul void of fear. You've never seen someone put a tide pod in a washing machine like I do.
