This is probably one of the trendier restaurants in town. Glad I called for reservations as I'm certain walk ins were getting turned away. It was packed on a Friday night. I've never had risotto in my life but glad this was the first place to try it. It was silky smooth and the prawns added in made it a seafood delight. Their limoncello martini with the lemon popsicle was a visual treat. They didn't skimp on the liquor either. It was a nice buzz. I thought the bread being served was free but after getting the check they actually charged $5 for it. This spot is not a cheap eats place. Expect to drop triple digits upon paying the tab especially if you get any liquor served. Service was pretty darn good with Roberto (as other Yelpers state) being on top of it all. read more

Stopped without a reservation but said I could sit at the bar. The place was packed and extremely loud. The food was good but not really exceptional as I was hoping for. I had a caesar salad and the dressing was bland. Definitely made without anchovies which is too bad because it needed some kick. My entree was the Carbonara and I enjoyed that. Wished they used guanciale rather than pancetta. Oh well. Service was as expected for such an insanely busy place. My meal wasn't rushed so I had plenty of time to eat. One of the best lasagnas I've ever had. Have family in Foggia and spent summers eating food there and in Padua. Miguel recommended food and drink flawlessly, made our evening wonderful and everything hit. Also had the brie with orange marmalade, and my SO had the Nero pasta with seafood. Tried Limoncello for the first time tonight and was really satisfied with the experience. For a Monday night, they were jumping which was so nice to see for the neighborhood. We had: - Arancini: absolutely delicious - Bread with truffle butter: really really delicious - Caesar salad: really good. They served it with the leaves uncut so it held all of the cheese and breadcrumbs well - Sausage broccoli rigatoni: delightful. The sausage was light and flavorful - Spinach ravioli: amazing. Delicious and creamy The service was kind and attentive. It did get a bit loud in there but it's nice to have a lovely atmosphere for a Monday evening in downtown La Mesa. We went here for SD Restaurant Week a month ago. The food is decent, nothing mind-blowing and the service was pretty slow. I think we waited 30 mins for each course. As someone who lives nearby, I was really, really excited to try this place. I saw they had a restaurant week tasting menu so we thought this would be the perfect time to try. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience last night. Ambiance: it is VERY bright in there. Service: it was not super busy and service was pretty slow. It took a while for our server to come and get our initial order, clean up dirty plates after first course or even check if we needed more water. Drinks: I ordered a mocktail mojito and the drink tasted bad and like dry soda water. We let the server know and he took it to make a new one. The "bartender" added drops of syrup to the existing drink, stirred it with my straw and then poured it into a new cup instead of making/shaking a brand new drink. Food: the only good things we had were the assorted bread (listed as a side on main dinner menu) and the meatballs. The salad I was brought was a very plain salad and nothing at all like the description on the menu (I was not told they were out of anything so getting a completely different salad was surprising). The pollo Toscano entree - chicken was extremely tough to cut/chew. The potatoes were hard and bland. My entree was missing broccolini. Lasagna - presentation alone does not look like lasagna. Cutting into it, there was very little meat and cheese in between, just layers of pasta. Both entrees came out luke warm at best. Very disappointing for what we paid. I was still hoping to give this place another try, but after the entrees came out and seeing how they "remade" my drink, we won't be coming back. read more

I've wanted to try for their authentic Italian dishes plus experience the fabulous decor! We came for an early dinner (5pm) and the place was already packed! A few disappointments, but nothing major - basically, it gets pretty loud as the nite progressed (probably due to a packed restaraunt in a small space)...Lemoncello Martini with a lemon popsicle was delicious!! Espresso capaccinos were also perfect! I was excited to try the Branzino & was not disappointed, especially with the presentation. All pasta dishes are fresh & tasty. Insalatas, strawberry & beet were yummy too. Loved the portobello mushroom...fresh breads with their special butter were a must! Lastly, tiramusu was delicious, but the single serving canolli filling was perfect, but the shell was a bit harder than expected. Overall, I'd return for an earlier meal to taste other options on the menu! read more

We just love this restaurant, beautiful atmosphere, the food is fabulous, the chefs, staff and bartenders are very friendly, Victor the bartender is top notch and makes your dinning experience at the bar seating very enjoyable. If you are looking for an authentic Italian experience Limoncello is your place. I highly recommend the BUCATINI CACIO E PEPE Pecorino + black pepper I traded out the pasta for a spaghetti pasta, which I love the fact that you can do that and I added prawns and some extra garlic. I had this on a Friday night and was craving it the next day so we went back Saturday night and I ordered it again lol I can't remember the name of this risotto, beef dish, but it was to die for it melts in your mouth. My fiancé had this one and I highly recommend it as well if you want melting in your mouth meat with a beautiful flavor this is the dish for you. This will be a regular place for sure. read more

Overall I wasn't very impressed. Atmosphere - very cute interior that is good for dates or bringing the little ones. Love the incorporation of lemons in some of the designs too. Service - pretty slow. It took a long time between each segment (drinks...order.... Coffee...dessert...check). Maybe the ratios of servers to patrons is low. Or they are overtasked with making drinks. But it was just slow. Food - really nothing really good and one thing bad. Had the meatball appetizer, arancini, bread, parppardelle, spaghetti pistachio, tiramisu, and coffee. All of these were ok, but nothing really different from every other Italian restaurant. Except the spaghetti... I believe they just way overcooked it, but it was mooshy. I don't know if that was an effect from the crème of the pistachio but yes... mooshy. read more

My girl friend and I came for a food blogger event at Limoncello today and Sofie practically ran the show. she was very descriptive of all the dishes sent out, made sure all drinks were filled and everyone had what they needed. Would go back and specifically request Sofie as our server next time! P.S. The Bucatini Amatriciana and the seasonal ravioli dish (it was pumpkin in a white cream sauce) with the Tiramisu were the dishes that really made our jaws drop! read more

After several holds and back-and-forth, I was told they couldn't refund a single item, and that the owner said I could drive back to pick up cash. I explained I was at work and moving to Temecula in two days. I wasn't rude, I was patient through every hold. I've worked in food service. If this ever happened where I worked, we would have refunded the entire order and done whatever it took to make it simple for the customer. The owner offered to drive the cash to my house, which I declined, I didn't want a stranger at my door, and honestly, it wasn't about the money. My pregnant wife ate moldy food. Not once did anyone ask if she was okay or acknowledge that this was a health concern. I never received a refund. I just expected basic accountability, apparently that was too much to ask.

After addressing this behavior with him, he slightly improved but still didn't fully engage with us, choosing instead to converse with his coworkers mid-order multiple times. The meal for two totaled $160, which felt steep considering the food's basic and bland nature. The seafood, in particular, did not meet our expectations for restaurant quality. Given it was restaurant week, this might explain the dip in service and food quality, but it doesn't justify a return visit from us. There are numerous Italian restaurants out there delivering exceptional service and culinary delights. Do not fall for all of the hype around this place! We then tried the fettuccine thinking it would be great, yet it was a fail too just being plain and tasting like tomato sauce. Then, we thought the lasagna was gonna taste good, yet just like the restaurants name it is sour! We then got sprites, and 4$ for each which wasn't even used with a refill, and it was so flat! And the waiter even persuaded us with bread, but it was 5$ for cold bread and non-melting butter. I was exited to try this new place at la Mesa a couple of weeks ago and I did love it, but I was there yesterday and the food wasn't as good as the first time that I was there. It's been just two weeks and now something is off about it, I didn't like the way that my pasta was cooked and I do love hand made pastas, but this one was hard to chew on (not even all dente, in case you're wondering) and wasn't as flavorful as before. I'm kind of disappointed about this place now. Service was okay, and for my taste the ambience was kind of loud, I know it's a new restaurant and maybe the cooks were having a bad day at work but when you go to a restaurant that you like and you are expecting to have something that you already tried before and you get something totally different that.... The food & atmosphere was amazing! I had the Gnocchi and the Lava Cake as well as the limoncello martini. Both dishes were AMAZING! The limoncello martini was TO DIE FOR! My friend ordered the berry martini and that was amazing too!! I was brought to my table so quickly and was greeted by our server Sofie. She was so warm and welcoming and attentive. I had an amazing experience! The food was excellent--every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. The service was superb, thanks to Miguel, who truly made the meal memorable.
