I chose this place for lunch on my trip to Lawrence and I am so glad that I did. I sat up at the bar which had a great view of the wood fire pizza oven! Brian was bartending and not only did he provide wonderful service and local recommendations for my stay, but per his suggestion I tried out the brussels sprouts. They were some of the best that I have had. They were savory, crunchy, with a touch of sweetness from the saison cherries! He crafted me a cucumber gimlet off menu that was refreshing & delicious. And then between the 3 pizzas I narrowed it down to, he surprised me with the Bianco e Nocci. Reduced cream as the base, gruyere, mozzarella, crushed pistachios and some lemon zest and herb oil on top. Unique, light, and delicious. My 1 year old and myself were turned away this evening at 7:15pm The young bar maid informed us they were no longer seating eventhough there were plenty of folks in the place. Presumably the early close was from a speckling of snow. Regardless, it was pretty classless to turn away a parent and child, in a rush to leave early, The last time I brought both of my sons and the help was curt and the time before the stew was half cold and service was fake nice. It's like there is a workplace sickness in the air of bad attitude. Visited this place for the first time tonight and loved everything about it. We sat at the bar and were waited on by Cal who was very helpful and a fantastic bartender. I started out with a Halfway to Scarborough and it was so delicious and had a touch of spice, Yummy!! My husband had a rumhouse old fashioned which he said was interesting and good. He was very helpful and professional, even though we were his last table of the night. Props to hostess who was also very accommodating and positive. bar: Handful of classic cocktails, enough wine choices, and good range of beers - although nothing too out of the ordinary. I drank a Free State Yakimanic IPA ($6, as of 8/2024). food: The Butter Leaf Wedge comes in two varieties, one has ranch with croutons ($10) and one has blue cheese dressing with pecans ($13). We went with the blue cheese choice and thought it excellent. Menu offers both classic pizzas and lots of innovative choices. The sausage ($19) was exceptional. This restaurant rightly is best known for its excellent pizza. But it has other merits worth considering. They have a surprisingly large choice of innovative "snacks," such as the spaghetti squash snack, cauliflower gratin, broccoli rabe, and shishitos. The happy hour is 4 pm - 5:30pm, which unlike many restaurants is 7 days a week. It tends to include some of the "snacks," The Limestone house salad also is often on the happy hour list. There are discounts on some wines by the glass during happy hour. At other times, the best wine buys are for the carafes, with the Barbera red wine having the best price, but it is not their best wine. There is a parking lot directly behind the restaurant on New Hampshire. But it is for exit only. If you park there, you will be able to exit the restaurant directly to that parking lot, but you will not be able to enter the restaurant through that lot, which is locked from the outside. So close to being great. All the makings are here but sometimes less is not more it's just less. The ingredients are solid but the sparse toppings were disappointing. We had the sausage pizza and the sausage was really nice, the sauce is nothing to write home about and the 4 pieces of cheese was really disappointing. We also had the spud and it could have been fantastic had they precooked the potatoes and they weren't so toothsome. Finally we had the Bianco e Nocci, it was quite nice. I know alot of folks like this place but this place is like 715 mass, overpriced! 10 bucks for fries and 20 bucks for a pizza that when pick up the toppings slide off. I only go due to friends wanting to go there but no more. I just cant do it. So if you dont like neo pizza, save a lot of moolah and go elsewhere on mass like minskys, papakenos, big mill. Anyway...me, my guy, and a couple of our friends came here for dinner one Saturday (or was it Friday...) evening. We made the drive, predominately to support one of our bartender friends, but still ended up having an awesome time. Yummy food, great drinks, and a very casual vibe. We ended up ordering fries, 3 pies, a burger, and got to sample 2 desserts. I wish I could tell you exactly what they were...but honestly, it's been a minute. I think we had the Farmer, the Fig & Arugula, and...um...no idea what the last one was. FYI - the fig & arugula with prosciutto and blue cheese...heaven. Hey! I remember something!!! :) Dessert...um...was decadent (that much I remember...) and chocolatey? I know that we devoured everything, even though we were already bursting at the seams!!! Very good oven-fired pizzas and desserts! Everything is made in-house as far as I know, and even though $20/person is pricy for pizza, it's worth it on occasion. They've got a good variety of ingredients, and some creative combos (like my pizza that had white sauce, pistachios, and red onions). The espresso cheesecake I had was excellent as well. I wish they had some more affordable wine options, because everything was $9/glass and up. I also wish you could create-your-own pizza, but they discourage altering the recipes for most of the pizzas. However, I'm glad to see they have gluten-free crust and they are able to accommodate dairy and egg allergies. Service was very friendly and I enjoyed the warm restaurant ambience with the view to the open pizza kitchen. But, small rant first lol: I'm taking one star off for the headache of simply trying to find their menu/ description of menu items... no where to be found on their website, which is super odd/ frustrating to me. We ordered by phone, and got the Orechiette pasta dish (no clue if I spelled that right lol). It's delicious! So simple, yet bursting with flavor! My dads favorite. It's a funny round pasta, a flavorful thin tomato sauce, ground sausage, herbs and spices, and maybe some cheese? Couldn't tell. Slightly sweet from the honey and apples, with the salty sausage and cheese! Second pizza: Love Supreme. It was sausage, pepperoni, kale, olives, mushrooms, and I forget what else. Simple, but good. Not the best veggie meat pizza we've had, but was decent. The guys didn't love how kale heavy it was. I didn't mind. I feel it needed a bit more flavor. We loved their homemade chili sauce. The workers were all helpful and friendly, pizza was ready in 30 mins (at 7:45 on a holiday week Wednesday- busy in there!!), and food was hot and good! We'll be back! This is a tough one to write, because we did enjoy our pies and are grateful for their commitment to serve during the pandemic. Full disclosure that my standard for Neapolitan style pizza is very high. Having lived in Italy for years and growing up in California including San Francisco I've had my share of exceptional pies. The crust being a major part of the equation is one area where these guys lack slightly. A tad dry and grainy. The sauces and toppings could be more generous as well, particularly considering the well above market pricing. We had a selection of four different pies and a large order of their very tasty fries and with the REQUIRED 20% service charge our bill was $91! In nearby Kansas City, 1889 Pizza Napoletana offers a better product at a fraction of the cost. Again, the offerings were not awful but definitely not worth the exorbitant pricing. Best meal during my entire week in Lawrence! The place is not large and it does fill up quickly so be prepared to wait a bit. We arrived around 5:30 and were able to get a four-top without any trouble. Our serve was very knowledgeable about the local beers and the menu. We made our own "plate" with the olives and house made pickles. The olives were barely brined (and not pitted) with sprinkling of pepper. The pickles were large spears that had just the right balance of sweet and sour. I would have loved to sample some more of these offerings. We ordered a regular pepperoni and the NOLA. Limestone is a perfect place when you want high quality, fresh made food from local and organic ingredients, but also want a laid back, casual vibe. I tend to lean towards the pizzas (they have a gluten free option as well, by the way), but I enjoy their salads, small plates and sandwiches too. The cocktails are always tasty and I enjoy getting cider there as well. Dessert is a must, even if you only have a few square inches of volume left in your stomach and must share. The selections rotate, but among my favorites from the past: a cobbler made with local peaches, topped with house made ice cream, and a salted caramel chocolate panna cotta. We are quite familiar with Limestone Pizza, as we have enjoyed this restaurant for several years. This visit was different. The atmosphere was upbeat and enjoyable. The food was "meh." I have celiac so I always order GF pizza at all pizzerias. They must have changed their GF pizza crust since our last visit, which in the past was a nice quality, tasty crust. The crust I was served recently was a glorified cracker crust. I not only costs more but this was a very poor quality product. My husband and I also ordered our usual seasonal shrub. I'm not sure who is making the shrubs but they were not the tasty shrubs we have received in previous visits. These had flavor, but shrubs are a nice vinegary drink, these were not. So disappointed. We will not be returning anytime soon. read more

Fabulous little restaurant tucked aaway in Massachusetts in Lawrence Kansas. We primarily stayed with the pizza menu but the limestone salad was very fresh with a light lemon dressing. I also enjoyed a bowl of the Moroccan soup which was rich with lentils, sweet potato and cumin. We ordered three pizzas - Margherita, NOLA and a mushroom to go. All were well sauced with a nice amount of fresh cheese, tasty ingredients and a fabulous crust cooked perfectly in a wood burning oven. We were too full to try dessert but it looked fabulous. Next time I hope to try the fig and arugula- it looked yummy. Also our waitress was very friendly and helpful.
