Must try: Rib-Eye Steak and Asparagus side dish!…read more Why: That rib-eye steak (medium-rare) was so dang juicy, tender, and flavorful. I could taste the buttery goodness and loved the chimichurri sauce. Neat experience to see the waiter flame up to melt the butter and burn the rosemary on top. The asparagus with parmigiano-regianno cheese and guanciale (salt cured pork bits) was also amazing. Plate presentation also looked great. Notes: I came on a Sunday evening and they weren't too busy. I sat at the bar to eat dinner. I had a long travel day so wanted to treat myself to a steak dinner. Waiter/bartender was welcoming and helpful. Spacious and clean restaurant. Clean bathrooms also. Great place for date night!

I also had my usual Stroh's beer from the "dad beer" menu. Everyone in our group tried a variety of sliders: Corned beef, cheeseburger, chicken, and fiskefrikadellar, and also sides of fries and tots. Most of us had visited before, but two were new to this spot and all were ultimately very happy. Our server was Genevieve and she was fantastically welcoming, friendly, and helpful with navigating the menu and answering questions. Large parking lot and location is easy to find directly off of Poplar Level Road. Outdoor covered patio dining is also available. Can't wait to return again and highly recommended.

The bar looked nice and there was a giant wooden bear. Cheap chairs and tables... BUT the food was great, very tasty. I highly recommend the Reuben and the tater tots. Yeah there is a charge for tiny little sauces, but hey it's worth it. My vegetarian friend went on and on about the veggie sliders and the beet salad. Drinks are cheap but delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Next time I'm in town I will have to try more of the sliders.

The restaurant has this beautiful old world atmosphere that feels romantic without feeling overly formal or stuffy. It has so much character, just being there felt like an experience. The food was wonderful, the service was attentive without being intrusive, & the whole evening had a really relaxed, intimate feeling to it. It's the kind of place where you actually want to sit & longer over your food instead of feeling rushed out the door. The price is absolutely worth it, Le Relais delivered that! Definitely one of those places that feels like a little piece of Louisville history. I'd happily come back for another special evening!

Unfortunately, the food just didn't live up to what we remembered. The lamb was flavorful, but the chicken Milanese was very disappointing. It tasted burnt and had almost no flavor, and the salad was plain and bland as well. The bread and butter were great, but honestly, that was probably the highlight of the meal. We decided to give dessert a try and ordered the orange soufflé, hoping to end the meal on a high note. Unfortunately, even that was bland. We were expecting a nice fresh orange flavor, but there really wasn't much orange flavor at all. We really wanted to love this place again, especially because we've had such good experiences here in the past. Sadly, this visit just missed the mark. If we do go back, we'll probably stick with the steak. Great atmosphere and wonderful service--just very disappointing food this time around.

We hadn't had a mozzarella wheel in ages. This was a good one, especially the marinara sauce. The beer battered cod with two sides is a great choice or the 2- or 4-pc fried chicken. If you're a fan of chicken fried chicken with gravy, this was a large portion. We tried the fried green tomatoes, broccoli slaw, mashed potatoes, and green beans as sides. The tomatoes came with a sauce and it had a kick of heat. We weren't big fans of the green beans, mainly because they took the flavor of the broth they'd been cooked in. The menu is huge. We noted we'd gotten a lot of fried items; however, The Goose offers more variety to avoid that. The space is large and can accommodate groups. The parking lot is shared with other businesses and has several spots.

Food is fresh and delicious (an elite smashburger, I should give that shout out in particular), and it's hard to leave hungry. Good drinks too. Friendly and welcoming servers and staff. The community table on the patio is a pretty neat setup. Also just kind of enjoy dining indoors--not a huge space, and the wood-fired oven just makes it feel cozy to me...but that may really just be me!

After all the hype I decided to try Red Hog for lunch on a Saturday afternoon…read more It was pretty busy for lunch but we were seated inside. Lunch menu was a little pricey but we figured this meat must be amazing to have these prices. First the cocktails. Pricey at $15 a pop. We tried two that sounded pretty different the Spanish Pipe Dream and bourbon based Velvet Goldmine and they were just ok and kind of tasted way too similar. These were supposedly on the sweeter side but I'd give them a 6/10. We tried the $17 dry aged burger with an additional $2 charge for fries and it was pretty good but after all the hype it similar to all smash burgers. The dry age flavor really wasnt there. Bun was standard brioche type, not toasted. Good burger but nothing special though. I did enjoy the sauce and toppings giving. It a unique sweet flavor. 6/10 but just go to Toastys for a similar cheaper one with way better fries. The fries were disappointing. Soggy, floppy, zero seasoning and salt on the. Tasted like the oil they were fried in and that's it. Not the best. 5/10 Turkey club. 8/10. $18 with no sides. The bread and sauce really do 99% of the work because taste wise the turkey was not discernable from supermarket deli turkey. The bread is a delicious oven baked pizza crust folded over and the sauce combo tastes like a Cesar salad. I highly recommend this , it's a simple but amazing sandwich, but it at this price point for salad and turkey on pizza crust it really should have a side. Service was 2/10, non existant. Took 1.5 hours to get out of there because of how it took 20 minutes to order and another 20 just to get our drinks, and our server was busy with tables outside so we didn't see her until we were asking for our checks. Overall the food was good, drinks just ok, but the hype this place gets , at least for lunch, along with the service is grounds for dissapointment.

The restaurant itself is full of charm, with cozy, beautifully decorated dining rooms that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The bar area is especially stunning and worth taking a moment to admire. Every dish we ordered was delicious, but the standout was the praline caramel cake. Super helpful with the menu, prompt, and friendly. She recommended perfect wines based on our preferences and meal. Now for the food. Everything was perfectly executed. Nothing lacked flavor and presentation was beautiful. Their house chips with caviar are actually amazing! I could eat a whole plate of these. Loved the beets and fried green tomatoes too! The scallop entree was the best scallop dish I've ever had! The couscous side was perfect with it. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the chicken was well seasoned. Desserts were great too! They make many of them in house. I'm a sucker for key lime pie and theirs was a 10/10. The chocolate cake, praline cake, and pot de creme were wonderful. I tried the fried yucca and was glad I did. Now, the MEAT! Once you turn your card to green, be ready! There was a constant flow of Gaucho chefs with the different varieties of meat.
