Mid-afternoon lunch at this charming country restaurant. Tomato soup was served hot and it was good. Beet Salad with greens, walnuts, dried cranberries, and fig balsamic dressing was good. Chicken breast was bland. Service was great.

I took the kids here for my Birthday lunch to try something new. What a great spot!! The outdoor seating was great as well as the service. We started with French Onion Soup and Sweet & Sticky Tempura Shrimp... Delicious. For our entrees we had the Caesar Salad, Chicken Parm, and the Baby Spinach Salad with Blackened Chicken... VERY good! Definitely a Great Spot!

Pizza slice! Chicken, peppers, onions, arugula, orange aioli, with PEACH SALSA!

We stayed in Allentown by Bar Louie and the shopping complex there. We reviewed those restaurants, but they didn't appeal to us. My boyfriend found this place less than 10 minutes away, and the charm caught his eye, but the menu and reviews sealed the deal. The bar itself is so cool. It's dark, but in a way that you want it that way, and if it was super bright, it would kill the vibe. The bartender and owner were friendly and kind. We chose the chicken taco pizza special and a salad and had 0 regrets. The aioli on the pizza was great, it also had a peach salsa that added a freshness & the orange balsamic homemade dressing with watermelon radish was fantastic. She brought out Irish soda bread and homemade butter. My first reaction (being from Boston and having had lots of Irish soda bread was ..ugh great.) I have never been more grateful to be wrong, it was light and heavy at the same time, warm and just slightly sweet. Combined with the butter, it was just perfect. The drinks were great, and the dessert was fabulous. The owners wife makes the desserts and we saw the creme brulee was popular, so we ordered it. It did not disappoint. I'm not sure we'll get back there anytime soon, but if we happen to be that area again we will certainly be stopping by. They had a lively outdoor dining area that I would like to check out in the future someday.

AWESOME! We sat outside and the patio space is SUCH a cute area. I highly recommend it. They were very accommodating, as I don't eat dairy. The chefs cooked my scallops in oil instead of butter. They'd run out of salmon and a few other things by the time of our reservation (7pm) which, to me, means everything is fresh! The building is adorable with flowering ivy growing up the walls!

Good food, very nice staff, but maybe it is because just how busy it was, service was slow.

Terrific across the board! It's funny how you end up at places sometimes. We chose Kathy's…read morespecifically for its location (halfway in between our house and a friend's), and that, other than the fact that they serve breakfast, was the only criterion. But what we got was breakfast awesomeness. It's small, with a cozy, "country" feel, as you might expect. Cute. Coffee was strong and plentiful, served in those great diner-style mugs that keep things piping hot for a good long time. Servers were totally on top of their game (the place was jumpin' so they really had to be) and all had that combination of "I'm super nice and glad you're here, but don't you dare slow me down" goodness. And the food? The food was fantastic! Each of the five people in our group got something different, and everyone was super happy with what they got, from cinnamon-raisin French toast with apple butter to a garden vegetable skillet to corned beef hash eggs Benedict. I went simple with a breakfast sandwich with a fluffy scrambled egg, thick-cut pork roll, and Cooper sharp on the lightest, airiest Kaiser roll I've ever had. And do no sleep on their thick cut bacon, which is meaty and delicious and coated in a buttery mapley goodness that tasted like Heaven. Things to note: they only take cash, and on the weekends, there's an hour limit (meaning you can't dawdle) so they don't have lines piling up outside. Breakfast for five of us was just under $80, so reasonably priced. We had a great time. And the next time we go, it'll be because it's just a great spot.

The strawberry was solid. Had chunks of strawberry in it and it was creamy and didn't have any freezer crystals or anything. The vanilla however was incredible. This had the cleanest "real" vanilla taste I've ever gotten from an ice cream. It's been days and I'm still thinking about it, it's a real problem. I'm sure it was MusikFest prices but 2 scoops was near $8. I'm not even mad about it, that vanilla is worth it and the guy working was very friendly and helpful. Batch absolutely - Didn't Suck!

Apparently, he took over the space formerly occupied by a Rita's Water Ice shop, and he has nicely transformed it into a pleasant step down basement joint that is similar to the previous occupant, but also different. It offers two forms of water ice - tradition brain freeze fruit flavored hardened slush, and Cream Ice, a hybridization of regular ice cream and hard water that is softer/creamier than water ice, but not as richly textured as Ben & Jerry's or Hagen Daz. I ordered a two-scooper of Blueberry Cheesecake and Cannoli ($5). They were both pretty good, with the Blueberry getting the nod for flavor and mouth appeal with chunks of graham cracker crust mixed in. The Cannoli was close in taste to that ricotta vanilla flavor, with tiny chocolate chips infused within. It was less pleasing than the other, but still decent. Hank is an amiable fellow, allowing me to sample any flavor I wished on finger sized wood spoons. He filled me in on the short history of his business, and gently corrected my pronunciation of Emmaus (E-May-Us). Cool dude! The Five Chilled Stars are as much for his helping keep his community Main Street vital and alive, as for his creative turn on classic Italian Water Ice.
