Limani Grille is the newest restaurant from what I read belonging to Spyropoulos Hospitality which also operates Limani in Roslyn, Limani Taverna in Woodbury, and Limani Mezze. The Bonwit Inn was a popular restaurant that had been at this location for over forty years. Limani Grill is an upscale Mediterranean restaurant with a contemporary ambience. The restaurant has two floors, with a main floor spacious bar and a dining room with tables comfortably positioned in the dining room. This is an impressive Mediterranean restaurant that has an Island feel with a white-on-white setting and a very roomy comfortable dining room. They offer high-quality seafood selections; the restaurant has a seafood-focused menu We ordered their Petalouda cocktail which was exceptionally good, and I highly recommend it. For appetizers we had the Zucchini Keftedes, and dinner we had the Chilean Seabass, and Halibut. I thought the Halibut was excellent. I real estate agent, who later became a real friend, has been asking me to get lunch with him for awhile now. It was finally time and he knew just the spot. "Limani Grille" was the spot of his choice. I figured with all this work I've spent getting the store opened, why not. We set the time for twelve noon, but traffic was not my friend. I pulled up to a small parking lot up front, but expanded towards the back. Once parked, I made my way through the large glass fitted doors. Inside, the atmosphere was elegant and modern. A giant bar with hundreds of drinks was set in the middle for all to see. The place was as remarkable as the food, which I'll get to in a minute . The hostess was extremely helpful. He reserved a table and he was there, waiting. I sat down and we started talking, at the same time they dropped a bread basket. The waiter, who was very knowledgeable, started going over the specials of the day. I was impressed with his ability to remember so much detail. We started with some appetizers for the table. About twenty minutes later they arrived fresh. Let me start by saying in my life I've eaten a lot of octopus. It's never been what I enjoyed. But after trying it today at this restaurant, I finally understood why it's so sought after. It was served over onions and had a smoky taste to it. It wasn't slippery like normal ways I've seen it prepared. This was in fact, the best I've ever had. Every appetizer was enhanced with pure flavor, a true enjoyable experience by its self. I might add, my glass was never empty. The waiters helper, was on top of her game as well. She was so nice and always asked how we enjoyed our course. It felt like we mattered while dining. Next was the main course. I got the lamp chops over potatoes. My meal was racked with flavor....see what I did there...continuing; at this point I was full, but my buddy made my try dessert. I'm glad he did. The cheesecake was incredible, it was light a had a blueberry sauce on top. It was truly delicious. At the end of the meal, I couldn't move, not because I was full, it was because I didn't want to leave. I was waiting for more delicious food to come out. I have been to Limani on the north shore, and was thrilled when we got our own Limani! I have been many, many times for dinner since they opened. My husband and I go during the week, we live close by and would rather frequent when the restaurant is less busy. I would say usually on average, a 4 star experience. This past Wednesday 7/23/25 I had the worst meal in a looooong time at ANY restaurant. I'm a bit shocked. I don't know what happened, but we won't be going back, for sure, this summer. I'm thinking maybe new kitchen and wait staff to cover for vacations? 30 minutes for our one appetizer, which obviously the waiter forgot to put in the order. Our meals came VERY quickly after. I ordered the lobster and pasta , which was a hot mess of tail shell, a TON of pasta, and the head shell on a huge oval plate. So unappetizing! I never really gripe about prices, everything is very costly now, and going out to dinner is not a necessity. But OMG, $52 for a mound of gross pasta! I've had this dish before, and this was a new look. It's supposed to be 1 +1/4 lb. lobster. It was tiny bits of lobster, so I doubt it was that much. I was hunting for lobster, cause who would eat all that pasta !? Just yuk. read more

The restaurant itself is absolutely gorgeous. The larger dining area would benefit from a dimmer light to mirror the mood in the other parts of the restaurant like the bar and back area. To start We had the pita and spreads, and the tuna tartare. Both were absolutely delicious. The tuna was very fresh. The salmon was perfectly cooked crispy on the outside and soft juicy texture inside. I don't love capers and could skip that part but a solid dish. Tonight was my first night here and I was excited to try this resturant. I really wanted to love this place but I am kind of so-so about it. First I want to say that the resturant is BEAUTIFUL. It's decorated really nicely and I was impressed when I walked in. But then it went kinda down hill from there unfortunately. The service was nice but slow and she didn't check on us much at all. Also there was a little hiccup with my order- I ordered the wagyu steak and it comes with fries and I asked if I can get vegetables instead. My waitress tells me it comes with fries and also cauliflower & broccoli and if I wanted for an upcharge I can get double vegetables or I can do potatoes with the vegetables for no extra charge. I did that because to be honest I didn't want potatoes but I was fine with the broccoli & cauliflower. When it comes I recieved no vegetables at all and when I asked my waitress she said she made a mistake and it didn't come with vegetables so they just switched the French fries to potatoes. She asked if I wanted to order a side of vegetables and they can make it quick. But to be honest I kinda feel like she should have given me the vegetables since it was her mistake and I didn't want the potatoes at all. The food is good. My son got the organic chicken and I tried it - It was delicious. I got the wagyu steak and it wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite and my friend got the filet mignon and he said the same thing - we both felt the meat wasn't very tender at all. I might try this place again just to give it another try but maybe not. I'm not sure. The octopus appetizer was perfectly executed: tender and delicious. The calamari was good but somewhat dry, and bland according to my daughter and the diner next to us. I liked it as I don't like salt. Dessert was sponge cake. Tasty but soggy due to excessive soaking in syrup. They lost a star due to the noise level, we had to shout at each other, when the place got packed. They need some sound absorbing wall panels. The place is gorgeous and ladies room was very nice too. I am very picky with Greek food so I was nervous to try Limani to be honest. Overall the food was great, we got the mezze dips to share which were all very good. The branzino was incredible, something many restaurants don't do well. The service was great, and it was a wonderful ambiance. Great place to come with friends or family for a nice dinner. However as other reviews mention it's pretty expensive. I will plan to go back for their pre-fixe menu for lunch or early dinner though, seems worth it! read more

I wanted to like the Limani Grille. I really did. Walking in, it was such an upgrade from the old Bonwit Inn (its predecessor), with a very modern feel and look. However, the four people in my party all said the exact same thing upon arrival..... The restaurant had a very strange (almost unexplainable) odor which permitted through the entire meal. Also, while the layout was modern and interesting looking, the tables were basically right on top of each other. Just had a weird feel. The food was inconsistent with our party, where some of the dishes were outstanding and some of the dishes were flavorless. I think this establishment can be summed up by one thing. The urinal placement in the men's bathroom: They have a very nice bathroom space, laid out just fine, and then their 2 urinals are placed on 90° angles (in a tight sectioned off corner) , so you have absolutely no choice but to stand side to side with another man while you're using it. Honestly, it was the strangest (and most uncomfortable) urinal experience I have ever had. My question is, was is this set up really necessary? I guess the answer is, it fits perfectly with the establishment as a whole. read more

The highly anticipated Limani grille is finally here! I've been here twice since opening and have tried several bites... first things first, the place itself is beautiful.. It's very sleek and modern looking... upstairs does have two party rooms one with round tables and gold chairs and another room that's long and kind of awkward (there is a balcony); more business event style. Did a totally ballsy move and popped in on a Saturday night without reservations (I don't rec. this).. we did grab a quick bar drink and then quickly snagged a seat on the little velvet loveseat with two small cocktail tables; it was perfect (party of 3). We ordered the saganaki.. it was ok.. would have been better if it were hot; it was served cold probably Bc the place was jamming. Limani chips .. thinly sliced crispy, fried zucchini chips with tzatziki... they're always fun.. I loved their spanikopita (only complaint was that the phyllo dough was so overly crispy, it was cracking and messy everywhere otherwise, the filling was amazing)... the branzino (meat of the fish was tremendous... I LOVE branzino and this was a good one... I don't like the salt pad they cook and serve with it.. rich and so salty... and we did have a bit of bones... I guess it's really hard to debone when it's busy but it actually put off one of my gf's so much, she didn't want it anymore)... lamb chops (amazing! I wish there were more! Loved and highlyyy recommend).. Greek salad and tomato salad is the same exact thing on their menu... it is freshly cut up tomatoes, green peppers, cucumber, onions, add a protein if you want... Had avgolemono (chicken lemon soup), I've had better.. needed salt... Hummus was great ($).. they also serve a little bit of tapenade and eggplant with bread (no $) for the table which is nice.. Another one of my gf had the linguine with feta and tomato ... said that was bland.. The baklava had the same issue with the Spanikopita.. overly crispy phyllo really just making a mess and almost inedible, I ate the filling.. I think overall they were good but obviously they're new so the kinks are still getting worked out. Great location ... right off of Vanderbilt and Commack road. Came in for an impromtu dinner on a thursday night at about 5 - no reservation was needed under these circumstances, but the place did seem to fill up and get busy while we were there. We went with the pre-fixe menu as it is obviosuly the far cheaper option - honestly if I had seen a menu ahead of coming here, the prices probabky would have pushed me away. Not exorbitant, steak house level prices, but enough to make my eyes bulge for a minute. They do make up for this with ingredient quality and freshness. The grilled bread and dips that were initially brought out were ok, but a little weird. We do not like tapenade, so that spread was out - and the eggplant spread had carroway in it - not a fan. So we ate the grilled bread, ok, but pita would seem to be a more normal choice for a mediterranean restaurant? My girlfriend enjoyed the fried calamari and we both liked the limani chips. The Greek salad is peppers, tomatoes, onions and cucumbers roughly chopped and dressed with a chunk of feta. I found out that this is actually a traditional Greek salad and quite authentic - notwithstanding I was not a tremendous fan -- mainly because too many tomatoes makes my mouth itch -- not the restaurant's fault on that one. The entrees were well prepared and fresh. My steak kebobs and potatoes were very good and I thought the portion was adequate. My girlfriend liked the cook on the bronzino, but it came out with what looked like a handful of capers on top. She is not a fan and pushed them to the side, but again, weird... Limani grille seems to be a place that wants to stand out and be different. None of this is bad, but perhaps the manner in which they are choosing these differences just isn't for me. read more

Welcome LIMANI GRILLE. A new restaurant in Commack which is just opened. It's located on the corner of Commack Rd & Vanderbilt Pkwy. (Bonwit location) The restaurant is beautiful. It has a upstairs party room, full bar & spacious bar with plenty of tables which are socially distant. We Love the fact that the entire staff are wearing masks & they have plenty of parking. We were greeted by the Manager John tonight & seated right away. We had a reservation and John welcomed us and was very professional and courteous. The waiter Chris was amazing & made sure we had everything we needed. The Cocktails were amazing. I had the Petalouda which I would highly recommend. We started off with baked clams which were absolutely delicious. The clams were whole with an Oreganata bread topping. The crab cake was plentiful & delicious. For dinner I had the octopus which was so tender & perfectly prepared. My husband had the Salmon which he requested well done. I was fortunate enough to sample the menu. The pita, bread, hummus, Greek salad are good appetizers. I'd avoid the calamari and fried zucchini if you're not a fan of salt. The Bronzino is delicate, but there is a lot of bones. Good lemon potatoes and broccoli/cauliflower. The desert samplers have good Greek yogurt and baklava. The parking situation can be pretty hard (read: it's a Wednesday night) and the service is a bit sluggish, the two are probably related. read more

What an upgrade from the old stand by of Commack, The Bonwit Inn, where many ladies lunches and baby showers were celebrated in drab decor. Limani has come and Commack has welcomed them! We have been back about 6 times since my last review it seems like every time we go the menu prices increase! This place is way OVERPRICED! The menu from their website is old so basically add $6 to everything on the menu! Really $28 for a burger? And $12 for a Dogfish 60 min ipa LOL. Well you would think it would be a home run nope cooked med rare like requested but dry dry as a bone not one once of juice and under seasoned. We ordered the muscles as a appetizer and we had to send them back! Why? Because half of them were not open! Old? Dead? Maybe needed another minute? The dish isn't that big and should have been Noticed before leaving the kitchen. Now let's get to NOISE LEVEL! it was semi full in the bar area and I could not hear our server! And forget about the main dinning area forget about a normal conversation more like a shouting match I actually had a headache after having dinner. This concern has been mentioned many a time in reviews but nothing has been done! Think some ACUSTIC TILES are in order! My wife likes this place so this is basically the only reason why we/I go! I refuse to pay $45 for a piece of fish or & $95 for Red Snapper for two lol! The food at Limani was delicious. We have been there as a party of 2 and a party of 15. We have had so many items and all Did not disappoint. My favorite surprise was the Limani chips that are actually a vegetable and the Brussels sprouts. Two more favorites are the Mount Rushmore size pork chops which were cooked to perfection and the cheesecake which is amazing. Also for lunch we have had the lobster mac & cheese which is also delicious. I am very picky almost like Sally from Harry Met Sally so I usually go into a new place very skeptical but Limani did not disappoint me. Having said that the place is extremely clean and beautiful definitely a contemporary flair. Atmosphere is "cute" but nothing special. They brought pita to our table which tasted wonderful and was warm. However the olive tapenade and hummus it came with - the portion was laughable, literally smaller than a teaspoon's worth. For appetizers we ordered: - Chicken keftedes: written as "to share" on the menu but only 3 of them came in the order. Overall the meat was well seasoned, cooked well and it came with a flavorful, lemony sauce. My favorite appetizer. - Limani chips: tasted good, seasoned well, but the amount of tzatziki it came with was too little and not enough for the plate of chips. - Mac n cheese: solid dish, but nothing unique or special about it. - Appetizers I saw but did not eat: shrimp (only 4 came in the order), octopus (presentation nice but not a large portion), calamari (my friends said it was crispy and tasted good), oysters (decent portion). Entree/sides: I got the chicken souvlaki. Portion was great. The chicken was excellent quality, seasoned well, cooked well. It came with wedge fries. I wish the souvlaki came with more vegetables, and I wish the fries were seasoned a bit better. Overall this was a solid dish. As sides we got Brussels sprouts and lemon potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were crispy, savory and sweet, well-flavored. One of the better things we ate that night. The lemon potatoes were disappointing - they were very large chunks that weren't crispy at all and a bit underwhelming in terms of flavor (not lemony enough). For dessert I had a latte which was good, but again not unique. Overall this place was nice, the meal was good. Solid dinner experience. But I can't imagine going out of my way to come back because there isn't much unique about it. read more

I have always gone to the one in Roslyn so I wanted to try the new one in Commack. The decor was similar to the one in Roslyn and just as beautiful. It took 25 minutes for the server to acknowledge that we were seated. The menu is not as large as the one in Roslyn so I was a little disappointed. Came here for a late lunch around 4:30. The place was pretty empty mostly a few couples lined around in the booths. The Resturant is beautiful and clean. Large comfortable tables. We had the pre-fix lunch. The fried calamari was good, the baked clams were a little salty. For my entree I had the lamb chops with lemon potatoes, perfectly seasoned. So .... We are die hard foodies, meaning that restaurant week is our jam. Limani is in the old Bonwit restaurant which had been the venue for a number of family parties. Imagine my surprise at the transformation. Sleek, modern, and very lux. Only down side is the acoustic sound reverberating around making it slightly uncomfortable for the older crowd (us ). Food was superb -- best calamari EVER, great salad (gotta eat healthy) sea bass was tender and flaky, large chunks of filet mignon in the skewers that were flavored and cooked to perfection. Tried Lamani for the first time; will not be returning. Very overpriced for very mediocre food. The brown lentil soup was good, but not as good as the typical red lentil soup served at most other mediterranean restaurants. My husband's roast chicken was very dry, as was my swordfish kabob. If you're considering the whole fish, be sure to pick your fish from the iced case by the front door because we could see that some of the fish were fresher than others. They also sat us by the bar, which seemed odd because it was a Friday night and not crowded... why seat customers in the noisiest area? On the plus side, service was excellent, and decor was nice. I was here in December when it first opened, you can go back and see my review. Extremely disappointed. Decided to give it another chance.... With that being said, nothing changed. The first round of drinks were good. The second were different and some even were made wrong. There is difference between a gin or vodka martini. The wait for drinks is excessive. Maybe they needs more bartenders. The table next to me was going to bar to order their drinks for faster service. The noise volume is excessive! They need some acoustic panels to lessen sound level. I couldn't even hear the people at my own table. The food was just ok. I feel there are many other places to dine at that have much more to offer. The waiter really tried, then I think he kind of gave up. I did speak to the manager, he apologized and he offered fresh fruit and a pice of cheesecake for dessert. That was a nice gesture, but I am not looking for free stuff or a consolation prize. Just wanted good service and to get what we ordered. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed at the new location. The restaurant is beautiful. I could not recognize the old Bonwit Inn at all. BUT, the acoustics were so bad, I couldn't hear the people on my own table. We were dining with old friends we hadn't seen since Covid, and this was the wrong place to go. The waitress had to shout for us to hear her. Besides that, the food was only okay. The menu is very limited. You don't expect to go to a nice restaurant for a gyro with fries. I have had both brunch and dinner here and can say the food here is fantastic! They no longer have the brunch buffet, but when they did it was delicious. They still have brunch and it's still tasty though. Most recently, I came for dinner. They have a prix fix $35 dinner menu. They also have a similar menu for lunch for $28. I had the fried calamari for an appetizer- it was well seasoned and light and crispy, some of the best calamari I have had. For entree I had the filet mignon souvlaki, which was delicious! For dessert I had the sorbet which changed from season to season which was a great way to end the meal. The staff here is great, my only complaint was that we had to wait a few minutes for the host to return to the host stand to claim our coats from coat check, but other then that the waitstaff was attentive and the restaurant was clean. For parties of two, this place included 20% tip on the check. I don't like the way they do this. It forces customer to pay even though their service is horrible. Actually their service is horrible, the waiter didn't come to fill up the water, didn't ask how the food is.. and I have to ask if they have any daily special dishes.
