Let's give it up for DC having a ONE-LEVEL venue! Lima Twist was way more of a VIBE than I expected. For some reason, I thought it was going to be a smaller Mexican restaurant, but the menu gave more American-Asian fusion, with a LOT of sushi options. I had a mocktail and it was delicious! I didn't get a chance to eat, but the food coming out looked SO good. I was definitely tempted by the sushi, but thankfully my sense came back because we had already eaten before we got there. Anything else would've just been pure gluttony at that point. The DJ was good, the atmosphere was lively, and there were plenty of comfortable bench seats, which I appreciated because once I'm comfortable, I don't want to move. Unfortunately, our waitress/bottle girl told us that around 11:30 PM we would have to move because they transition the space into nightlife. That was a little bit of a bummer because I actually would've stayed for the party, especially since I already had myself a nice comfy spot. Oh well. Now, the part that tested my patience, a group of the bottle girls asked to borrow my selfie ring light to take a group picture. No problem. But what I thought would be a quick five-minute situation turned into a whole photo shoot. Multiple pictures, retakes, somebody didn't like one, take another one...and about 15 minutes later, I finally had to interrupt and ask for my ring light back because I was ready to GO! Plus, I could already tell we were getting close to the time when they were about to ask us to give up our seats. And listen...no seats, no patronage. I had a great time at Lima Twist in Washington, DC, definitely a solid spot for a Friday night out. The vibe was exactly what I was looking for: chill but still lively enough to feel like a night out. I recently went to lima twist for a private event. I enjoyed the atmosphere. It is a super cute lounge perfect for a girls night. The drinks were well made. I haven't heard the best reviews about the food so I only ordered the calamari. It was a little rubbery, but it was crispy and I enjoyed the sauce it came with. I did not enjoy the service. The servers did not seem prepared for such a large crowd and continuously brought orders to the wrong table. My friends and I paid and one of the servers (we had several different ones come to our table) accused of us not paying. Although we told her we had already all closed out with someone else, she insisted we didn't and had an attitude. We obviously refused to pay again, but the overall experience was very off putting. Lima Twist on a Saturday Afternoon for a Drag Brunch (for a bridal shower). I honestly did not know what to expect and was somewhat dreading it because why are we going to a brunch for 3-hours? The entertainment was for sure off the chain and well, entertaining. Our party of 9 ordered just about everything on the brunch menu (i.e. empanadas, ceviche, salmon caesar salad, chicken caesar salad, french toast, Lima waffles, and lomo saltado) l, including the bottomless mimosas. The wait staff do say that food just comes out as soon as it's made and in no particular order. Our (appetizer) ceviche came out almost 2 hours after we ordered it. The food overall was ok, nothing special/memorable, with the only highlights being the ceviche and french toast. Depending on where they seat you, some spots, you really can't see much, so that's disappointing. Also- the men's bathroom lock broke (so the line to the bathroom was always long) and the women's bathroom was already dirty when they just opened, so, yea. I went to Lima Twist for a Drag Brunch. The experience was amazing! Despite the event being super busy, the service was pretty good. The waiters were attentive and did a great job keeping up with so many people. The restaurant setting was perfect for the drag show. There were couches and comfortable chairs lined on the outside of the restaurant so the performers could perform in the middle of the aisle. There were several food items on the menu that were amazing but some were not good at all. The ceviche, chicken empanadas, and French toast were so good! The seafood in the ceviche was fresh and the citrus juice had the perfect tang. The empanadas were extremely flavorful and the chimichurri was the perfect topping. The french toast was so crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. However, the lomo saltato and the skirt steak salad were so flavorless and needed a lot of seasoning and spices. Best Drag Show in NW DC!! But Mediocre food. Drag show: there were 4-5 drag queens each with their unique personality and twist. Each show was entertaining and they often involved the guests to participate. The only bad thing is that depending on where you're sitting you may not get to see the show FOOD: most of it was terrible. Slow service and just bland tasting. We tried the french toast at the end because we were still hungry and unsatisfied and that was a hit. Don't waste your time on anything else. The lomo saltado was super dry and salty and my friend's steak salad was also bland. The ceviche was good but too small of a portion. The empanadas were good. SERVICE: super slow. Our waiter forgot our multiple orders and didn't check in often enough. We still gave a cash tip and I somehow got charged a double tip via my credit card which I disputed. Would not recommend. Lima Twist has so much potential and I hope with time it gets to where it wants to be. I went here for a friend's birthday celebration on Saturday, 1/6/2024. I THINK this is supposed to be part dinner, part lounge, part club with hookah for the grown folks. My friends and I were looking for just that, like where do you go when you are over 35 and don't want a club club, but still interested in a vibe-y place, with food and the option to dance. Open to recommendations! When we entered Lima Twist, we immediately noticed how cute and aesthetically pleasing this spot was, it's pretty spacious and definitely creates a nice ambiance. There were maybe three tables occupied when we arrived, so to say it was dead is an understatement. Our reservation was at 9pm, but when dealing with other people, I should have lied and said the reservation was earlier, half of us arrived at 9pm, the other half arrived around 9:45pm (insert eye roll). Our waitress was very nice and attentive to us. We ordered a round of drinks and got the Jalea Mixta (fried fish, calamari and yucca, it comes with shrimp too, but we asked for no shrimp due to a shellfish allergy) to start, this was very good, especially when dipped in the Peruvian tarter sauce that comes with it. Hookah is available starting at 10pm, so my friends ordered it when the hookah guy arrived. I don't like hookah, so I can't comment, but I thought it was vastly overpriced at $55! We also ordered various entree items, I got the linguini with shrimp, our waitress initially brought me linguini with chicken, but when I brought the error to her attention, she quickly corrected the situation. The dish was fine, it needed salt, but overall it was A-okay. The hubby got the braised short ribs, again he felt it needed more salt, but overall he said it was good. I tried the empanadas and they were delicious! I would certainly try this place again, but I wish there was clarity on what this place is trying to be and also the prices are a little much until the energy is increased at this spot - they need to get folks hooked first. Oh, I forgot to mention I asked our waitress if this place turns into more of a lounge/club scene and she said I believe so, however we left around 12am and Lima was still basically empty. read more

The good: Our server (Barbie?) was great! She was nice and funny and talked to us like we were her girlfriends which was really nice for a girls night out! The food was tasty; although a few of our dishes were HEAVY on the red chili pepper flakes. The bad: Our reservation was for 9:45 pm. We were sat around 9:38. After looking of the menu, apps and hookah, our entrees arrived at around 10:55pm. At 11:04 pm; ELEVEN OH FOUR....a hostess in a zebra jacket told our table that they were going to start flipping tables for bottle service. We all looked at her absolutely dumbfounded because we hadn't even decided what side of our plates we wanted to eat from and she was practically kicking us out. One of my girls who made the reservation stated that she was unaware of this when she made the reservation and that we had just gotten our food. She said "no one told me about that" to which the hostess stated "I'M telling you that." (With a stern look on her face as she's blinking through each word she said to really drive it home) We all did a collective woosah and asked for the manager who apologized after we told her our side of the story and assured us that since we had a reservation and had our table for a 2 hour time limit we still had 45 minutes to eat our food. The manager offered us a free round of shots which was like thanks....but it doesn't dismiss how rude the hostess was. After we had our shots and continued the eat, the hostess walked past our table again and VERY SARCASTICALLY asked us "yall good?" with a thumbs up. At this point we got the rest of our food to go and went to another spot because her attitude completely threw us off. Even if we wanted to stay longer after we finished eating, we wouldn't because of how unwelcome she made us feel. I highly suggest in more training or restructuring of your hostess staff. I'm sure her behavior would've landed very different with a younger crowd to deal with rudeness off the bat. I'm going to start with how amazing this secret gem is. I didn't know it was here and I believe it recently just opened. The outside looks like it's going to be popping when the weather breaks. After 9:00pm it turns into a club and I like that. Definitely want to go back for that. The restaurant opens at 5:00. I think they should do a brunch as well and a day party. It's very clean on both inside and outside. Now the service impeccable. I told our server that I wasn't drinking due to dry January and this guy ensured that all my drinks I wanted to order he could make and make them taste like it was liquor but not liquor. I was impressed because I don't like sugary mocktails. All the drinks were made perfectly. Even when I finished my drink and said I was done but my friend still had hers he brung me another one and said don't have my friend drinking alone. I love his attentiveness as well. I had a few problems with my food (we went for my friend bday and restaurant week) my appetizer I had asked for chicken empanadas instead of beef so they were beef. I had to wait a while for them to come back out and they were good. My Branzino had delicious flavors and you could taste the grill as well but my fish wasn't cooked all the way. I was because after they took it back to cook more it came out dry so I was mad. My veggies were spectacular. For the dessert I thought I was getting a strawberry cake and it definitely wasn't that. There was a variety of starters ordered which included the Mofungo, empanadas. The main complaint was that all of the main entrees were bland and the mofungo was dry and bland. The octopus was enjoyed. My shrimp linguine was bland. The service was fine for our group size, there weren't any issues with ordering or closing out. I tried to discuss the situation with her, explaining that I had just arrived and ordered food, but she quickly dismissed my concerns and got security involved. I had no issue with leaving but wanted a refund before doing so. My photo timestamp at the exit was 11:35, confirming my short stay. While I understand if the group was asked to leave, the lack of professionalism from this lady was disappointing, especially as I was unaware of any prior issues. I won't be returning!! The staff I interacted with was good and very helpful. Ambiance is very nice, plush lux-like vibe. There's the one star. It went totally downhill from there. Order the calamari which came with shrimp (requested the shrimp be placed on a separate plate since my girlfriend is allergic. She explained to the staff she can not eat shellfish/seafood. BUT the hookah people (which isn't really the restaurants fault because the hookah is a 3rd party company) but the girl was terrible , they were out of the flavor we wanted so she asked us to choose another which we did and she charged my card a 2nd time for the other flavor, didn't even tell me it was a slight upcharge for that flavor. We were very polite and told her we got charged a 2nd time and she was so rude about it and she went to hand my significant other stuff for the hookah and rudely put it in his hand and drop the other one on the floor and she just walked away. We weren't being rude or anything just didn't want to pay for something we didn't get. We didn't even say anything about the upcharge for the alternative flavor we had to pick since they were out of the one we wanted to begin with. A gentleman from the hookah company came and apologized to us about being billed without being told and he politely voided the first charge. Thank goodness I get notifications of any charged on my cards right away or I wouldn't have notice we were charged twice. The hookah stuff isn't the restaurants fault since it's a 3rd party but I don't know the name of the hookah people to post a review directly to them. This place is absolutely gorgeous! Stumbled upon it while looking for an after work drink and they have a really great happy hour lineup! Staff is super great too, came twice because we liked it to so much. Very attentive. While the drinks and atmosphere is super nice, we did try their crab nachos which were not very good unfortunately. The cheese was melted too long and the crab did not taste great. So Lima with a twist is the old K street Lounge....the remodeled now Lima with a Twist has potential but it's not a restaurant I would want to venture back to. Too many better restaurant dining places to venture in DC...for what you're spending here- you might as well opt for some where else...trust me...this place is NOT the hype... The restaurant/lounge itself clean, beautiful- gorgeous decor and lighting. The food-the most important part of one's dining experience...BLAND! We were so disappointed. I ordered a the skirt steak...with the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes...When my order was served I was given regular sautéed spinach and my steak was not prepared to my liking...when my steak was finally brought back out to me- the chef completely forgot to season the meat. I mean it was so flavorless I couldn't understand it. Even the chimichurri sauce that it came with I felt like it was just a cup of olive oil...no cilantro, adobo, goya seasonings...or even salt and pepper. Maybe some good ol season salt?!!! But nothing... I needed A1 sauce or something to give it some flavor. My hunnie ordered the same except he opted for a side of fries and he pretty much felt the same way. We dined with friends and everyone else was disappointed as well ;((( I was disappointed to hear even the empanadas my girlfriend ordered she didn't like them either ;(((( The highlight of my meal was the salad.
