So Lima with a twist is the old K street Lounge....the remodeled now Lima with a Twist has potential but it's not a restaurant I would want to venture back to. Too many better restaurant dining places to venture in DC...for what you're spending here- you might as well opt for some where else...trust me...this place is NOT the hype... The restaurant/lounge itself clean, beautiful- gorgeous decor and lighting. The food-the most important part of one's dining experience...BLAND! We were so disappointed. I ordered a the skirt steak...with the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes...When my order was served I was given regular sautéed spinach and my steak was not prepared to my liking...when my steak was finally brought back out to me- the chef completely forgot to season the meat. I mean it was so flavorless I couldn't understand it. Even the chimichurri sauce that it came with I felt like it was just a cup of olive oil...no cilantro, adobo, goya seasonings...or even salt and pepper. Maybe some good ol season salt?!!! But nothing... I needed A1 sauce or something to give it some flavor. My hunnie ordered the same except he opted for a side of fries and he pretty much felt the same way. We dined with friends and everyone else was disappointed as well ;((( I was disappointed to hear even the empanadas my girlfriend ordered she didn't like them either ;(((( The highlight of my meal was the salad. I had some difficulty booking my table through OpenTable--possibly due to my party size--so I reached out to the venue via their Instagram page (@limatwistdc). To my surprise, I was greeted promptly and provided with menus and live videos of the venue. The stunning look of the space sold me immediately! The person managing their social media even booked my table for me and sent a confirmation, which I really appreciated. The experience at the venue was even better than the pictures! We initially sat at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party, and the older gentleman behind the bar crafted some of the best drinks I've ever had--you can tell he's a seasoned bartender. As the night progressed, the venue transitioned to bottle service with minimums, but we were still welcome to stay and enjoy the atmosphere. The servers were incredibly friendly and moved quickly, making sure everything ran smoothly. They also surprised me with a birthday dessert and a fun light show, which absolutely made my day! I visited this restaurant today, the food was good and the decor was super cute. It's apparent they are new because they had a sun bartender with no wine opener, he may have been a waiter; staff was trying food (nothing wrong with this at all), and there weren't many customers. There was a dj playing great throwback music. One issue we had was that a chicken empanada was ordered but we received beef, my friend doesn't consume beef. It was remade and taken off the bill so we didn't make a big deal out of this. Also, please note, a 20% gratuity charge was added to the bill. I've passed by this spot several times on the way to other K street locations and finally decided to try dinner here. Restaurant by day lounge by night its a gorgeous venue, spacious, with ample intimate tables and a long bar. The cuisine is Peruvian-based as the menu features appetizers ranging from empanadas and mofongo to ceviche and grilled octopus. The entrees include birria tacos, grilled brochettes, grilled lamb chops, and grilled whole branzino with food items ranging from $10-$42. The service at the bar was really good the bartender was cordial and attentive but after being seated at my table, service got a little interesting with our server mainly because it felt like at a certain point me and my guests were being rushed out from the table upon completing our dinner once we declined on the dessert options. As for the food I ordered chicken empanadas and the Lomo Saltado (essentially a version of beef stir fry). The appetizer came out quickly but my entree took quite awhile however it ended up being worth it. The chicken empanadas were pretty good flaky and nicely seasoned, and the lomo saltado was delicious, the beef was flavorful and extremely tender. The dining experience overall was solid, while service could have been a bit better the food itself I had no real complaints about. read more

We came here as a large party of 9 to celebrate a friend's birthday dinner. Parking is super limited. If you're driving here, it's valet parking for $25. Otherwise you're better off finding street or garage parking and walking a couple of blocks. The service was subpar for a restaurant that's supposed to be upscale. Our server was in training and he had issues with the kiosk running slow. Instead of asking for another server for help or even taking our orders on paper, he took out his frustration on us when we tried to order our food and drinks. It was super unprofessional and it left a bad taste in our mouths for the rest of the night. We also had to get his attention multiple times to refill our waters. The manager saw the lack of professionalism with this waiter so him and another waitress took over for him the rest of the night. They made sure our orders were correct and we got what we needed. They even tried to make up for it by offering my friend free shots. We really appreciated that. The food itself was decent but nothing to write home to. We got empanadas and ceviche for appetizers and it was okay, not the best we've had. I ordered the Lomo Saltado as an entrée and the beef was so chewy it was almost inedible. Overall, it seems like the restaurant needs to train their waitstaff better. was my first time at this establishment and it will definitely be my LAST, nor will I recommend anyone to visit Lima Twist. I attended an event on 05/25, upon entering we were greeted and seated, our waitress APRIL introduced herself and took our order, which consisted of beef empanadas, vegetables sushi rolls and a combination plate of shrimp, calamari and fish stick. I informed April that I'm allergic to shrimp crab and lobster, so she had the kitchen put the shrimp on a separate plate for my friend.The drinks and appetizers came out minus the vegetable sushi, after bringing it to April attention 25 minutes later we were served the sushi, I placed one into my mouth, chewed and swallowed realizing to my horror, it was filled with crab meat, After my friend and I got the waitress attention I forgot her name but she is from Morocco, she took the tray of remaining sushi and informed us that the kitchen gave us the wrong item, the manager Carlos came over and was not very concerned. He apologized and I explained to him that I'm allergic to shellfish and he offered me CLUB SODA by then the inside of my throat started swelling, I asked if they had BENADRYL he said no, I had to leave the event walked a few blocks to the CVS pharmacy and purchase medicine and all the manager told me was sorry I even throw up twice before leaving your establishment. Had I not taken medication this could have turned out worse ,due to negligence by the kitchen staff. read more

Came here for a drag brunch and the show was AMAZING. All the drag queens were so talented, and we loved the vibe and atmosphere of it all. We bought tickets online and it was fairly easy to get in and have our large party (10ppl) sit together. Despite the fun show, the food and service left much to be desired. The kitchen had multiple mishaps with our food, which left about half of us without food for a good portion of the show. Several times, servers would bring food that wasn't ours to our table, not a huge deal, but it was frustrating that the other half of our table had to wait an additional 15 mins for food. In the end, we had to flag down our waitress for the 3 missing entrees. One person from our party had her home fries brought out an hour into the show. The waitress was very friendly and apologetic about our wait though. I ordered the mofongo and a side of eggs. The mofongo was pretty small and the plantains were tough and tasteless. The shrimp was the best part and were delicious. I ordered my eggs over easy and they came out scrambled (after asking the server for my missing eggs twice). For the price of the entrees, I was expecting a little more, but I guess you're paying for the ambiance. TLDR; 5/5 for the drag brunch 3/5 for service 2/5 for food Would come again for the amazing show, but will probably get something small or eat elsewhere. read more

The sushi place that was on my google maps didn't exist and the owner said, "if you're looking for sushi, we have the best sushi." He escorted me in and needless to say I walked in on a cool spot in the cut! They have hookahs, a dj playing the latest R&B hits and the interior is amazing. I felt at home and I couldn't wait to eat. The service is amazing and the plating follows the same level of excellence. I already did a a review before and forgot to write another about my experience when we went back again in August. We were looking for our favorite queen but she wasn't there that day. However, I like the fact that they had a different cast. Those drag queens know how to entertain. I can't remember what I ordered to eat but I think it was chicken and waffles. You can't really go wrong with that selection. It really didn't matter because we were there for the entertainment and their strong drinks. Other drag brunches in DC are amateurs compared to this one held at Lima Twist. I kid you not, those queens will have you feeling like you're at a concert. Food lacked seasoning, service was subpar, food was missing for two people out of the party of 5 I had the chicken and potatoes with basmati rice. The chicken lacked flavor but the sauce on top was good. The potatoes were somehow burnt and undercooked. The rice was dry. I also had the shrimp tempura sushi which was equally lacking in flavor. The service was terrible and I'm not sure why because we were one of about 3 small groups in the otherwise empty restaurant. As far as the cuisine, I was most pleased with the empanadas. The flavor of the fried rice was noteworthy also. My one suggestion for improvement would be to drizzle fruit and yogurt with a little bit of honey and perhaps add a little granola to truly step up the dessert option. I went to Lima Twist for the Fête Du Jour Sunday Brunch with some friends...formerly known as Fujimar. I have nothing but good things to say. Customer Service was TOP TIER 10/10. They have a 20 minute grace period on reservations if you are running late, make sure to call and let them know. The brunch runs $55 per person and it's unlimited food and Mimosas. You are periodically brought some of everything from the menu, But get this at the end of sampling everything if there was anything that you really enjoyed they will bring it out to you again. By the time I completed sampling each item I barely had room to circle back for a favorite. The majority of the items were delicious. I tried all three available flavors in the Mimosas and Passion Fruit was my favorite by far. They also offer valet parking at $25. read more

The service was great. No faults there. We ordered: Beef Empanadas- DELICIOUS Shrimp Linguine- my counterpart loved it. Lomo Saltado- I am Peruvian and had many different Lomo's. This one was OK. I wish it was better. Side Mashed Potatoes- ok, but i did not expect them to be great at this type of restaurant (South American food). This place has potential if small improvements were made. The decor and ambiance inside reminds me of a setting for a sexy or celebratory dinner that has potential for a turn up afterwards as their is a bar and lounge are past the tables and they have hookah available. The service was ok and if the staff were trained more, it could really become an elevated/luxurious experience. The branzino and sushi were not anything to write home about. The branzino was very bland (wish it had more flavor) and the presentation could have been elevated. We thought the host was going to sear it or do some sort of presentation but instead they just deboned it and stuck everything on a new plate which wasn't as appealing. However the empanadas and lamb chomps were tasty. The deserts were also lacking flavor and love. I'm fact, I'm pretty sure they were out of a box/container. I was surprised to see only a few tables filled and now I understand why. I will also note that I've passed this place several times and thought it was a corner store or something. By putting love and attention to the overall experience this could be a great spot in DC which is why I decided to give them 4 stars. read more

I was excited about this place and was very disappointed. I went on Friday evening at about 8:30 pm for dinner. I had the Foam o Marg which was $20 and it was just ok. I was told to be careful because it was a strong margarita due to it having both tequila and Hennessy in it, and it absolutely was not. I ordered the Birria Tacos and was told they didn't have it. So I just got the empanada appetizer, which was good. It was empty (only 3 other tables eating) and the service was slow. The music and vibes were great but just a little loud for such an empty restaurant. The last thing that was frustrating was the bill. We were never handed a bill or shown a breakdown. So I asked if gratuity was included. The waitress said a service charge is added but it goes to the kitchen staff and bar tenders, so of course everyone added tip. Once we requested receipts, we found we were in fact charged 20% gratuity. Gratuity is not a service charge, she literally lied to our faces. Lesson learned, won't be returning. read more

My fiancé and I came to Lima Twist to try out their brunch, and unfortunately, the tapas were lack luster. While the service was excellent- our server Hector was very courteous and attentive- the small plates we had left much to be desired. The brunch tapas during our visit included chicken tenders, avocado toast, chaufa, ceviche, bruschetta, flat bread, Caesar salad, chicken saltado, and beef empanadas. The tapas came out frequently, but the flavors were pretty 1 dimensional. If you're looking for a spot to quickly establish a foundation before going to party there or someplace else, this may be the move, but I wouldn't return for the culinary experience. read more

Both the small plate of empanadas and mimosas were good. Service was excellent. I was really impressed at how the manager and waite staff kept an eye on our tables to be sure everything was taken care of. They did it with a kind of dignity and duty.
