We had been shopping in the hardware store across the street and on the way to a light lunch took a look here first. We saw beautiful accent pieces and small items but clearly they do a lot of design with custom fabrics too. Apparently they must have been working on such a project in back because we did hear some voices in quiet discussion, but there did not seem to be a way to summon someone from the counter. I did find something I wanted to buy but had some questions. We eventually went towards the back and asked if someone could come out front to help. A staff member or perhaps owner did come out and gracious offer to help. The item I wanted was packaged in such a way that it was impossible to see how to hang it or otherwise display it without opening it completely and taking off the tags. The staff said she had never seem them out of the package herself so she did it. There were several styles and I was only interested in the bees. It would have been nice if they had on choice open on display to make it easy for the casual browser. I did get the item, which was hand made in Denmark of felted wool though actually priced very well. Everything was handles so nicely and I wish I could have chosen more items from here when I was still decorating my home, but the item I got is a nice memento of the trip and the town. I only worry that they might need a higher presence in the front room for security reason and to encourage people to linger and buy. Maybe they do on the busy weekends and normally have few customers on a Monday morning.

They have nice shady parks, a local history museum, and lots of independent shops, coffee houses, and restaurants. Parking is phenomenally easy-- and free. While I was here, I passed The Cookie Momster, a Victorian-themed gift shop, and a Bear Claw coffee on my way to the Dexter card shop. From there, I visited Christine's, a gift shop, and bought a butterfly finger puppet for my niece whose fourth birthday is coming up soon. From there, I strolled over to the Dexter Bakery and got a really good donut. If you're looking for somewhere cute and quaint to do some shopping or meet a friend for coffee or lunch, Dexter is an excellent choice.

Now they've expanded in there and they've filled the space with even more beautifully curated goodies, new and "found." There's a bit of everything in here, perfect for finding a gift for a friend, family, or a partner, or a little goodie for yourself. They've got beautiful art prints from independent artists, handmade ceramics, plus stationery, a bangin' candle section, lovely housewares and textiles like throws, pillows, and tea towels, plus jewelry, the list goes on and on. Plus when you shop here you're really shopping small, because most of what they carry falls into that category. If you go to their website you can take a look at a list of the artists they carry in store, and I love recognizing names of friends and people I admire in their respective fields.
