Eight (!) years ago my friend recommended her favorite place - The Fairmount. She emphasized that…read morethe ambiance and cocktails are something to experience. Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!

COVENTRY, Cleveland - You guys. The fries. Terrific. Wife…read moreand I were in the adjacent bookstore on a Friday evening, around 7ish. Both a little hungry. Figured we'd give Tommy's a shot, not knowing it's this long-standing institution with a devoted fan base. That fandom is deserved. Brightly lit, clean, friendly staff. We were seated immediately. Really interesting menu with a lot of vegetarian and eclectic choices. $5 basket of fries was wayyyy big and some of the best fries I've ever had - a nice crispness on the outside, while fluffy inside. Wife's spinach pie with muenster cheese ($11.85) was flaky and generous with the fillings. Loved my $3 phosphate. My DC falafel sandwich ($14) - with sesame seeds, cheese, sprouts and tomatoes - was crazy big and the falafel was perfectly cooked, with a nice crunch. Our server Kelsey was really personable. All in all, just a great dining experience and if we lived in the area, we'd be frequent fliers at Tommy's.

And they kindly found a table for us. I really appreciate that. On the other hand, the only word I can think of that describes the place is ... "Disheveled". That's all I've got... Disheveled. It was a bit messy, a little out of order and busy. The waitress was a very kind lady that really did do a good job in taking care of us. She was attentive, pleasant, and on the ball. The menu is extensive and the food was as you would expect from a diner/deli type restaurant. It was hot, substantial, filling, and arrived fast. There was a lot of it so we took half of it home. The coffee was very good and so was the ice cream. Considering that we ended up with a bill for only $51, I think we did all right.

Brought the wife and a couple of fiends here for my birthday. I had been raving about the food at…read moreBorgata and they were curious, so what better place to go on a Friday night? So many great restaurants in Little Italy that it's hard to walk in to a random establishment and not have a great meal. But this little bar tucked away at the corner right before heading up Mayfield hill is a hidden gem. It's not a big place. It's not fancy. It's a "bar". But I promise you... they have GREAT food here! There's always a crowd at the actual bar during the few times I've gone, but for as small as the dining area with tables is, I'm a bit surprised as to why it isn't full of diners more often. Perhaps because they've labeled themselves a "bar" and maybe most passerby's think you can only drink there. So this is my one little way of getting the word out: EAT @ BORGATA!!! You won't be disappointed... Especially if you try the blackened chicken Alfredo! Perfectly seasoned, super tender chicken, creamy Alfredo sauce, with the 3 pieces of the most perfect garlic toast - it's carb heaven on a plate!!! DO IT!! One of the greater things about this establishment is that if you savor and enjoy your meal and drinks patiently enough and not rush out, you'll likely meet the chef as he goes from table to table asking how you are enjoying your meal. Twice I've had a nice conversation with Chef Armun, this time a little extended as we got to know more about each other. One of my friends happen to mention that it was my birthday. Jerk! (something I don't really like to announce). Then something happened when we were done with our meal and were on our way out. Chef Armun stopped us and said "Can you give me 5 minutes? You can't leave yet." I'm confused, but said "oooohkay, sure." A few minutes passes by and comes out with a slice of the most decadent cake with a candle on it and the whole place started singing happy birthday! For sure an occasion I will always remember. And it's things like this that endear places and people near your heart... where and when you truly feel treated as friend or family by a small, local business. To Chef Armun and Borgata... thanks for the impactful experience!! To everyone reading this: EAT & DRINK @ BORGATA! You won't be disappointed!

Borgata was such a delightful experience! The food and the people and the karaoke! Loved it all :)read more

In past we had been to Marble Room and Red the Steak house both excellent. This year she tried.Tutu Carne. The restaurant is accross the street from the old Baricellis in MurrayHill /Little Italy district. Smaller restaurant with bar. Started with drinks and appetizers . My bourbon cherry drink was very good and all other cocktails were enjoyed. We got shrimp cocktail and oysters for appetizers and disappeared quickly with 6 people. The bread basket and butter were also good. The hit of the evening is large family style steak. We tried the Chateaubriand which was sliced on two plates. We all agreed to do medium rare and was excellent. Sells by oz with size listed on chalkboard. We had no waste. For sides we had Brussel sprouts, bolognese Gnocci and pasta carbonara all good. Best gnocci I have had Deserts were also good.

We came 10 mins early to our reservation and got sat right away!! Our server introduce themselves and gave us menus!! We decided on drinks-- for me a white wine off their valentines menu and my boyfriend the Columbus brewing light beer! (Both delicious) As we were enjoying our drinks and snacking on the perfectly cooked focaccia bread -- we picked what we were going to order....but another slightly older couple was sat next to us, and we couldn't help but notice the difference between how we were served and how they were served. The same server went over the menu with this couple extensively, showed them the front board with their specials on it and what meat & cut came with each number and special and how it was cooked etc. We just felt a little sad that, probably because we looked very young we weren't treated the same But regardless the dinner was phenomenal and our server was still very sweet to us! My boyfriend order the 10oz top sirloin cap, it came with their house steak sauce and a chimichurri sauce!!!! And it was delicious!!!!!!!!!! Especially paired with the chimichurri sauce! It was perfectly cooked how we asked and the presentation was awesome! I decided on the cavetelli bolognese and it was so so good! A decent portion to fill a cast iron pan and the sauce was a perfect traditional bolognese sauce!! I would definitely like to come back and give this place a second chance! But again, either way this is great food and they deserve great reviews!!!?
