The check-in personnel, the technician taking vitals, the doctor, the technician drawing blood. Every single person I interacted with was professional, accommodating, friendly, supportive. The doctor took her time with me - a 30 min appt turned into 45. I know that is unusual. The technician drawing blood was incredibly professional and fun to talk with. I will see how things proceed with questions, results, billing, etc, but I only have accolades to say about this experience.

And in 2024/2025 the practice is emphasizing cancellation fees seemingly no matter what (what if there are road closures or your child gets sick within 24 hours of your appointment) and early arrival regardless of online check in or it's considered a cancellation. So far they haven't been too late, but they have been late now and then and that could be for a number of reasons. The point is that things come up for both doctors and patients, and some of that warrants flexibility, which their policy administration doesn't reflect. There's a chance for the group to set themselves apart from others and they're missing it. Not surprising for the current culture, but even more important because of it.

Within seconds after meeting Rohina Ahmed, I was uncomfortable with having her as my care provider…read more I became more uncomfortable as the exam proceeded. By the end of the appointment I made sure I would not deal with her again. Let me explain. I am 78 years old. I felt a lump in my right armpit a couple of months ago. I then phoned the personal physician I had for many years before moving. He asked if the lump was painful. It wasn't. He said I needed to see my current health care provider immediately. For starters, I would need blood work and a diagnostic mammogram. I then called my current health care provider, Arlington Medical Associates, to make an appointment. After explaining the symptoms to the office manager, I was scheduled to see Rohina Ahmed, a Nurse Practitioner. The office manager put a note on my records, "Lump in Armpit." Rohina Ahmed entered the exam room, apologizing for being late. Apparently she hadn't noticed the note on my file. "You're here for a follow-up visit. Right?" "Mm - no I have a lump in my right armpit." Rohina then started to rapidly go through my records, at the same time asking if cancer ran in my family. It did. Of course, it was in my records, but she clearly hadn't read my records until that very moment. I then expected her to ask if I had any symptoms like night sweats, fatigue, etc. She didn't. Instead she began going through my chart and mentioned that maybe I needed a thyroid test. She then noted that I hadn't had a colonoscopy in 10 years. At this point I decided to cut to the chase. I said I had previously spoken with a physician. He said I needed 2 things immediately: blood work and a diagnostic mammogram. Rohina asked me to wait a moment. She went in to consult with a physician in the medical practice. When she returned, she said we could proceed with a Routine Mammogram, and a Thyroid Test. I immediately walked into Dr. Vidwan's office, uninvited, and explained the situation. Dr. Vidwans edited Rohina's proposed directive. The thyroid test was scratched. The "routine mammogram screening" was changed to "a diagnostic mammogram." Dr. Vidwans then ordered my blood to be drawn immediately at the office so it could be sent in that day for testing by a lab. In short, my experience with Rohina Ahmed was that she came late. She hadn't a clue why I had made the appointment. She hadn't done her homework by reviewing my records. And she ordered tests that were not specifically relevant to my condition.

I met with Dr Zahalsky as part of his Direct Care patient experience. He has chosen to contract…read morewith SignatureMD for a portion of his primary care practice. For younger patients, he told me that he is still accepting insurance. They way it works for direct care, is that for Medicare patients you pay SignatureMD $1800 per year. Due to the crazy rules of Medicare you can't give him the money. They do. He also will bill your insurance-Medicare and secondary. With the direct care agreement, he will call you and/or text you the very same day. With the money conversation out of the way (isn't it sad that medical care is first about money, then also about care), I think that Dr. Zahalsky does a very good job. FIrst of all, I think he's smart and thinks things through. Second, he genuinely cares. Next, he will make sure that if you were to need to see a high quality specialist, he'll make sure that you obtain an appointment. There is not much more I can ask. The medical care system is broken. Everyone recognizes this. Everybody feels like a insignificant cog in a money system. Doctors and nurses all seem to be burned out. I chose to spend some money so that Dr. Z can afford to spend some time with me-I had a full one hour appointment. I was able to ask each and every one of my questions and have them answered. Paying $1800/yr is not something that everyone can afford. I know that. But if you can pony up the dough, I think it's worth it.

Dr. Zahalsky is nice enough. He does the blood work himself, and after a few days it's easy to…read moreaccess your information on the online portal. The wait wasn't bad to see him. I probably won't go back, because I wasn't a fan of how he handled the fact that I had high bp. He took my bp, noted an absurdly high number, but didn't take the time to check it again later. He ranted about "protein supplements" without any detail on the supplements or even about when I use them, which I rarely was at that point. It's possible that the high blood pressure was due to dining out about 20 times a week--I am on Yelp, after all. He didn't even ask, or let me explain my poor eating habits. I solved the issue myself by watching my sodium intake and eating more fruits and vegetable I won't hold it against him that the two specialists he recommended were not helpful. I should have done my own research.

I don't have particularly complicated medical problems, but when I do bring a concern he resolves it without provoking unnecessary anxiety. He's also referred me to a couple excellent specialists, both of whom spoke very highly of him as a primary care physician. Only point for improvement (and this has nothing to do with Dr. Walsh himself, and everything to do with VHC's scheduling staff) would be a little more flexibility with scheduling annual wellness exams. It's easy to get a 15-minute appointment for a concern that arises during the year, but the 30-minute annual wellness exam has to be scheduled a year in advance. If you cancel your wellness exam for any reason, then you can't get another one until a year after the date on which you cancel your original appointment. That's completely okay, and that's why I make extra efforts to keep my appointments--I figure a cancellation on my end is my fault. But if the doctor has to cancel for any reason (and there are lots of good reasons that he might have to cancel), then the scheduling team kicks you to the back of the line, more than a year from the date on which they cancel your appointment. This happened to me recently, and caused me to miss the annual wellness screening I had scheduled for January 2026. The first available make-up appointment was November 2026. Dr. Walsh is a great doctor and totally worth the wait, and since I have only minor medical issues that I can monitor on my own I'm just going to use blood tests at CVS in the interim. And again, this is a criticism of the admin team and not Dr. Walsh.

My experience with OneMedical Rosslyn has been wonderful. The physical site is gorgeous, parking is nearby (not free though) and it's metro accessible. It's clean, the staff are friendly and professional and they have an in-house lab which saves a trip to Lab Corp. Additionally, they now offer mental health services which is a nice bonus. If you need a prescription called in to your local pharmacy, you can request via their app or website. If you have a non-urgent issue and need advice, you can message a nurse or doctor for help. If you have an urgent (non-emergency) issue, you can usually get an appointment relatively quickly; scheduling through the app is very easy. The user interface is easy to navigate. Also, the staff don't try to "upsell" you in any way or pressure you to get an unnecessary vaccine or test. In closing, I highly recommend OneMedical. It's worth the annual fee (which isn't that pricey IMHO). There are locations throughout the country - and the network of providers at every location is superb.
