I then started seeing Stephanie Richard's because dr Larson was so busy. Now I have begun seeing kelly hernandez because Stephanie is swamped with appointments. I have been going to Fox Mills for over 15 years. Dr Larson (retired) and Dr Beard (quit and for good reason) where awesome. This will be my third Doctor in two years. I asked for a simple 30 day prescription renewal which I have done many times in the past. Now, all the sudden, they would not do it. The lady on the phone was rude and certainly did not care about me, the patient. I hope I can find a Doctor soon as I am out of blood pressure meds. Disappointed to have to find a new Practice. I have been coming to Fox Mill for a long time and always found the physicians to be great (Dr Youk), so it is disappointing to have to leave a critical review. As others have mentioned, recently they seem to be understaffed with long wait times for basic services. However, the main issue is billing. I went in for my annual physical, and was surprised to receive two bills for something that was typically covered by insurance as "preventative". It turns out my visit had a "less than 15 min" consult added to it in addition to the charge for the physical. Additionally, part of my blood work was coded as "diagnostic". I was told this was due to items being flagged for follow-up in prior years, so they could no longer be considered "preventative" since I was considered to have the "condition". I was not advised of either in advance. It is difficult to reach someone to ask questions about the bill, with hurdles built in before you get to the right person. Since they are part of INOVA they will pass you back and forth. Finally, when by insurance reached out to initiate a review of the charges, they were told it would take up to two months (!) to review. Meanwhile I continue to get reminders that my bills are past due. Zero stars for the billing + two because I like the DRs. read more

Called to schedule an appointment - was told that since I had not been to the office since before the pandemic, I would have to be considered a "new patient" and they were not accepting "new patients". When I explained that my family had been going to Fox Mill Family Practice for over 20 years and that my wife had been in there offices dozens of times over the past 3 years, the person who answered the phone hung up on me. I guess that's the manner in which Fox Mill treats patients who have been there for over 20 years. Only sorry that I can't give zero stars. read more

I've been going to Fox Mill Family Practice for many years and highly recommend it. My most recent appointment was with Sharon Yuras for my annual exam. I feel like she is really listening to concerns by taking her time and answering all my questions thoroughly. I never felt rushed during the appointment. She up to date on the latest women's health care issues which is very important to me. I don't feel dismissed like I do with many physicians, especially male physicians. The practice is very good about prescription refills, making and rescheduling appointments, etc. The entire staff is friendly and professional. The lab is a separate entity from the practice. I have been a patient at this practice for over 30 years. I specifically request Sharon Yuras as my provider, because she is extremely experienced with diabetic patients. Being in the health profession, I appreciate the time she spends with me, carefully writing out what she told me during my visit. I never feel rushed. Being 65, I tend to forget! I must add, I use the patient portal, and always get prompt responses to my emails. I absolutely have confidence in Sharon Yuras, and will continue to be a patient. I have been going to see Sharon Yuras FNP at Fox Mill FamIly Practice for 26 years and counting...I actually cannot say enough great things about all the kind and caring people who work there but I want to give an extra nod to Sherry.... she's taken the very best care not only of me, but also my family. As a type 1 diabetic, I've seen more than a few "specialists" over the years and Sherry is truly tops and equal to them in knowledge of the disease. She is so current on medical advances in diabetes care and really takes the time to listen to and thoughtfully answer any questions and concerns I bring up. Dr.Larson needs to learn how to talk like a professional. I went for travel vaccines and made an appointment with his nurses who said that the time I booked my appointment was time enough for my vaccines - I get there and the Dr says the vaccine will be ineffective at this time. When I remind him his nurse was the one who said my time frame was fine he says " well you have missed appointments before so tit for tat" Who says that??!?! Especially when you get $50 for a missed appointment and I get to pay $30 to hear" I can't do anything for you, you missed appointments so tit for tat" I am extremely disappointed with this practice. Esp after going there based on the Washingtonian! I would give no stars if I could. I have taken my business elsewhere. read more

This review is for Dr. Youk. He's asian which makes me already know he has to be smart because he also wears glasses. His nurse is great... she's very much the anti-hero and knows how to take care of you when you need it. The dou is a great combination and wouldn't replace them for anything. I have to agree with some of the other people's comments. The front staff could be a little bit friendlier but i'm sure it's more from them having to deal with the number of people that come through them. read more

I used to see dr.Steck couple of years ago, till last year. After my blood test analysis she called me and said that she needs to put me on lifetime medicine prescription , because my sugar is high , my cholesterol is sky rocket and my vitamin D is low. I was able to lower my cholesterol and vitamin D by diet and Vitamins. But for following up appointment I went to other doctor. And he was amazed , he said u have excellent sugar level on the blood test taken by her. How come she tried to lied to u and said that ur sugar is too high. Be careful with her. This practice would not see me during the pandemic. I have not had primary care for 2 years. When I finally made a virtual appointment to discuss a potentially serious concern, they sent information to an old e-mail. Even though they had my updated address when I moved to DC for over a year, they only told me once I called in for the appointment, that the doctor is not legally able to do a virtual visit with me if I'm in DC. Dr. Youk is wonderful, but his office is unprofessional, disorganized, and unhelpful. read more

Dr Stec has been my primary care dr for about 4-5 years now. I am so glad I found her because she has been such a great caring dr who truely listens to you. She has guided me through a difficult diagnoses and follow up care every couple months. I love her assistant Teri, who we have gotten to know and love seeing and catching up with at every visit. She took such care in reassuring my daughter about a shot and took her time with her. The lab tech is especially good, getting blood out of my tiny veins with ease. The HR person is very good at her job, with dealing with insurance and getting referrals. All around great practice! read more

I saw Dr Yuras for a "womens health" check up. I have never felt so embarrassed. She was incredibly condecending to me (which is a particularly sensitive kind of check up). I will absolutely never recommend her to anyone, I left the office blushed with anger at how unprofessional her comments were. It is a joke that she is a womens health provider-- she must have never gotten any kind of diversity training in her life. Is she even a Doctor? I tried to find credentials that she was, and I couldn't find anything except for nurse certifications. I usually go to Dr Larson which is why I will give two stars, because he is actually a good doctor. Yuras also mos-diagnosed my father when he went to visit for arm pain. I would stay away. The nurse staff, on the other hand, was amazingly sweet. But even that couldn't make up for the traumatic experience of her non-medical and judgmental comments. read more

I have seen Dr. Larson for 9 years now and he has always been very professional and is very efficient which I appreciate. I very much appreciate the small office feel, reminds me of a family doctor's office I had growing up as a child. I have had mixed experiences with the nurses, mostly positive but one nurse in particular was very rude but that was years ago. The front staff used to be a nightmare to work with but I have seen marked improvements in the last year or so. So overall I can recommend Fox Mill Family Practice as a very solid option. read more

Except for a three year period when I got stuck with Kaiser, I have been going to Fox Mill Family Practice since 1978. Drs. Howe and Larson took care of my three children and Dr. Howe cared for my elderly parents during the final years of their lives with great compassion and patience. I have been seeing Sharon Yuras for more than a decade and have found her to be extremely knowledgeable and thorough. She is an excellent listener, always explains her diagnosis and the medications that she prescribes, and shows real concern for her patients often following up after a visit via email to insure I am doing well. I have been with this practice over 15 years and loved Dr. Howe...who has now retired. He was a doctor who actually listened to his patients before treating. The front desk was often a bit harsh, but the nursing staff was alway wonderful. Since Privia took over, it seems visits with the doctors are very difficult to schedule....you will be scheduled to see a nurse unless you can wait a week. It generally takes 24-48 hours for the staff to return a call. FFP encourages you to go to their clinic if the office does not call back in a timely manner...there is actually a poster in their exam room stating this! In my last visit, the nurse reminded of this option several times! I do not call the doctor on a whim...but it seems like we need to plan an illness around their schedule. Mon-Fri 8-12, 1-4:30 in advance. My two stars are only for the nurses! read more

Nurse Yuras brings a wealth of experience & knowledge to how she provides care. She has helped me through several crisis situations in the past 2 years; taking the time to listen to me and working to find the best solution for me. She promptly responds to my messages sent via the Portal (very convenient and often saves a visit to the office). Nurse Yuras (and her nurses) have never keep me waiting, they are patient and polite. What a terrible place to visit! I got new medicine from this place. I was coughing for 6 weeks all day an night, A horrible experience of my lifetime. Staff members returned calls always 3 days later and not so helpful. One time I had to call them 5-6 times in order to talk to them. Doctor will give you cheapest prescription medicine to make sure that you get sick. No apologize what so ever. Don't go there. read more

This review is for Dr. Larson. He is the worst doctor I have ever seen. I have given him a couple of visits to prove himself, but each visit has gone pretty much the same: He asks what my symptoms are, asks what I think my malady might be, and what I want him to do about it. I expect a doctor to make decisions based on what my symptoms are. I don't try to make assumptions as to what I might have, and I certainly don't know what to do about it, else I wouldn't be seeing a doctor to help me get better. This last time was the worst. I immediately noticed a drastic change that concerned me greatly, but didn't want to go to the emergency room. In spite of tangible symptoms, he treated me as though I was a hypochondriac the minute I walked through the door. He did a quick exam, asked me what I thought it might be (an infection), and wrote me a prescription to get me out the door. It took me a month to get in to see a specialist, and I was suffering the entire time. She found the issue right away and it was an infection like I thought, and it was something she said he could have found if he'd done a basic exam (which he did!) did the right test that first day. In fact, the prescription he wrote me treated nothing related to an infection. This guy really shouldn't be practicing. Don't see him. read more

This was my first visit to Fox Mill Family Practice with Dr. Youk. My previous primary care physician had retired and my interim physician wasn't the perfect fit so I tried Dr. Youk. I met with him this week and he is the ultimate professional. The office staff were pleasant and helpful, Dr. Youk's nurse was very kind and nice and Dr. Youk was thorough and efficient. I am so pleased that I decided to come here. I highly recommend Dr. Youk and his staff. He is top notch! read more

I've been a patient with Dr. Youk of this practice for over 10 years, usually without any problems. (Yes, the front office staff could be more helpful and one time they had another patient with the same first name get my blood work results because they called for patients by their first name.) Lately, however, there's lots of new complications, and mistakes, due to their new corporate overlords at "Privia Medical Group," which apparently bought or runs the back office, including billing. We got a threat from a collections agency for a $50 bill that was supposedly a month or so late -- that's weird enough. But it turns out, after lots of calls from us and pulling cancelled checks, etc., that they agree we did pay in full, long ago, but they credited part of the money from the Fox Mill bill to another medical practice altogether. Apparently this is another group run by Privia so they saw my name on the check and paid it over to the wrong practice. I haven't been to this other group in years and there's no balance there either. After all these years we're going to have to find a new family practice group -- it's too risky having your health, or your financial health, in such shoddy hands. read more

I have been attending Fox Mill Family Practice for over 7 years, at first I had a few other doctors but then I was matched with Dr. Youk-I love his service, he really takes the time to get to know you, listens to what is going on and works with you to take care of any needs or just a friendly check up. The staff has always made me feel welcomed and smiling, and Donnie and the others too...my children were taken care of very well, triplets and twins! We moved an hour away, and although my children see our local pediatric doctor now, I still come to Fox Mill Family Practice and Dr. Youk, because they are just that good! My family and I have gone to Fox Mill Practice for 20 years. I have been continually happy with the combination of professionalism and personal attention I have experienced there. It is important to make a good connection with a doctor, since needs during illness throw us into a close relationship. My husband dislikes going to doctors, but he is willing to reach out and ask Dr. Larsen questions and this is saying a lot. Dr. Larsen is unbelievably responsive to his emails and Roger hears from him quickly. Dr. Yuras and Dr. Larsen helped both my husband and me deal with important medical issues, directing us to the right specialists. When they are not free, I have not had any trouble getting in to see one of the other doctors and I've found them all very helpful. I am grateful for all the medical help I have gotten from Fox Mill practice over the years. Reading some of the negative reviews, I don't feel they are not the rule and the front reception staff has been very kind and welcoming to us. read more

There is very little, if any, wait time involved. I have seen most of the doctor's there and had a good experience with all of them. The staff is absolutely horrible. I have been trying to retrieve my vaccination records from them for 2 months now. I have called 5 times, and never been able to speak with a person, it always goes to voicemail. The voicemail greeting says they will get back to me within 24 hours, but today is the only time I have ever been called back after leaving 5 separate voicemails over 2 months. Their hours make them really hard to reach. I was also a patient of Dr. Stek for a while and she was somewhat condescending and didn't seem to know what she was talking about. read more

I love this practice! The nurses are great also Dr. Stec, Dr. Youk, and Sharon Yuras are outstanding. I'm very impressed with the time that's spent with my family during our visits and the time taken to answer all our questions. I've even forgotten paperwork that was needed for an appt at Reston hospital for my daughter and with one phone call Fox Mill Family Practice said they would have it there within minutes, so my appt at the hospital could still happen and not be canceled. The nurses are friendly and helpful adding to the welcome feel of the clinic. I also love that it's fairly easy to get a last minute appt and be seen right when needed. My son tried to make an appointment here - he's been a patient in the past and considers them his Primary Care practice. We recently changed insurance coverage and have the top tier PPO with a highly respected carrier (not UHC). The coverage has been active for months now. When he went to make the appointment, they told him he wasn't covered under the policy and that the system had errored out with an incorrect birthdate and refused to accept his insurance. Instead of investigating why this happened, they just refused him flat out. He was extremely upset so called me, his father and the policy holder to make inquiries. I called them back and verified they actually DID have the correct information and then told me my insurance must have the wrong info, so I called my insurance provider and verified they DID have the correct information - only to learn the problem was on Fox Mill's side with their 'automated' system failing to verify correctly - but instead of them taking the time to check when my son called, they just kicked him to the curb - but would've gladly accepted a cash payment - of course they would...but check on a problem with their own system, God forbid.....this really pissed me off - not only did they needlessly cause my son undue concern, but I had to spend the morning being jerked through hoops because of their failure and their lack of customer service helping a patient figure out and investigate what turned out to be an obvious error on their part. Now...this is no reflection on their physicians, but instead, a real disappointing experience with a dysfunctional administration....and when everything seems to hinge on insurance coverage as to what care you can receive, these people need to do one hell of a better job before they turn someone away who ends up in trouble because of their utter dysfunction - I'm pissed and will be looking for a better run practice going forward. read more
