The husband-wife doctors are lovely, lovely people but the front desk not so much. I received no response from the following sent on February 27, 2025, so after much research, we joined the practice of Dr. Elizabeth Weaver in Herndon. Outstanding front desk staff. Dear Dr. Mir and Dr. Zahir, Dr. Mir, thank you for the time yesterday to discuss x's Vitamin D levels, and a few front office concerns. I totally get that there is a demanding job to be done for so many patients, but I wanted to share my experiences shown in the attached of phone calls diverted to text and DAYS to respond where often I'd have to choose between calling again or texting again ... or just moving on with my life to figure my question out for myself, managing two littles, a household, work, teaching, volunteering, etc. I was so sick in September and am deeply grateful for Dr. Zahir's immediate diagnosis of pneumonia, but I had a follow-on concern regarding a prolonged roller-coaster fever that wouldn't break for several days. It was FRUSTRATING to call, get diverted to text then have the texts ignored for days. It was FRUSTRATING to not be able to have a simple question answered - should my daughter and I get our bloodwork taken first before having a follow-up regarding our Vitamin D levels? If yes, could someone submit bloodwork orders? Again, no one picked up the phone, my text was misunderstood, and it took far too much time for me to chase down an answer to this simple question. It was FRUSTRATING that our follow-up appointments were canceled. It was FRUSTRATING that it took so much time to find an alternate dates/times. It is FRUSTRATING to receive four texts in a week to confirm/check-in for any appointment. It was FRUSTRATING to pull my daughter out of class only to have the receptionist tell us not to come in because the appointment was scheduled as virtual. I had planned to be in person because I wanted to have her BP checked after she recently experienced super low BP from a serious flu. It was FRUSTRATING to have her later in our conversation say, "Well, you can come in if you'd like." Because the appointments were now pushed back to 3:15 and 3:30, I would have been late to pick up my son at his school just down the street from your office as I had originally planned. It was FRUSTRATING to receive a demand call ten minutes before our follow-up appointment on February 27, shaking me down for payment after the FIRST AND ONLY bill was emailed on February 11 that, if not paid, we could not keep the appointment with you. It was FRUSTRATING that she didn't explain upfront: x amount is for x service on x date for x person. She whizzed through the balance due without explaining these details until I finally said, "Hold on. Why haven't I received a bill until now for appointments in September and October?" to which the response was, "We emailed you a bill on February 11." It was FRUSTRATING that I have concerns about my own health but didn't have time (or demeanor) to have a focused conversation with you yesterday. Hopefully I'll find time soon to go through the process of calling, texting, waiting then needless back and forth to set an appointment. May I respectfully suggest going through patients' calls and texts, observe how patients are treated, and perhaps it will become apparent that simply picking up the phone to talk with patients, not forcing patients to text their concerns, clearly responding to them within a reasonable time frame, and, most of all, have a CARING attitude will make a significant difference. Can't speak more highly of my first time here seeing Dr. Zahir! I needed to find a new primary care doctor and called the office after reading great reviews. I was able to get an appointment for a standard physical the very next day! I was delighted that they took me back ON TIME, moved through standard take-in procedures in a timely fashion, and I had a great visit with Dr. Zahir. I can tell already why he makes lists of "the greatest" in the region. Other pluses? Super easy parking and on-site bloodwork! All the staff were also very friendly and professional. I have been a patient of Dr Zahir for many years. I have found him personable, warm, attentive and respectful. Dr. Mir is also kind and a wonder physician. Unfortunately, I cannot say enough about how unpleasant the experience has been with the front desk and front office staff are. Phone messages would go unresponded to, blatant disrespect and inappropriate attitudes, and the most disrespect I have ever encountered in the medical industry. Until the front operations team is retrained/rehired, I will never set foot back in this practice. Plenty of better options in Northern Virginia. read more

Dr. Mir is a great doctor, I have been seeing her for 7 years. Unfortunately, the front desk staff is unresponsive, and lacks both customer service and professionalism. As a long-term patient, I strongly encourage this practice to consider hiring a different staff. The last thing you need when you're sick is a bad receptionist making you feel worse. read more

I visited this office several times, and they're always prompt and thorough. During each visit. I highly recommend them!

The staff is both unorganized and dishonest. The nurse will call you to cancel an existing appointment, saying that you don't need to see the Dr., you can just pick up the medication, and then when you come to pick up the medication the front desk girl will tell you that you need an appointment to get said medication. No particular complaints about the medical care, but the lack of competence and integrity encountered with the front desk staff makes going to this place a nightmare. Avoid this place, and save yourself the headaches. read more

I saw Dr. Zahir for a few years. Generally I liked him and thought him pretty good, though often a bit too peripatetic if not outright ADD during the visits. I don't ask or expect much from primary care physicians, and even was willing to overlook his prescribing the wrong dosage for a medication because he failed to read the relevant research for its use in my condition which I provided for him. However, over the past year and a half, the office started trying to force me to come in for routine refills on medication I've been taking stably for decades. There is no medical reason for me to come in and I never had to come in for refills of the same meds with previous primary care physicians (or with him until recently.) Dr. Zahir knows that not only do I have a physical with him every year, but have an extremely comprehensive physical from the fire department annually as well. The only conceivable reason he wants me to come in 4 times a year now to write my refills is $$s. This month was the last straw. The office refused to refill a prescription once again unless I came in and additionally refused my request that he recommend a specialist. Again they wanted to force me to come in. However my insurance does not require referrals for specialists so would likely deny the claim if I went in for that. I tried to explain this via email but they ignored numerous messages. It was only after I told them I was done and going to get a new primary care physician did they bother to respond. And still they made no apology. Because of their delay I may not be able to get the procedure I need from the specialist before my deductible goes back to zero next month. So their greed may cost me a thousand dollars. I cannot state strongly enough that my statement that there is no medical reason for me to come in is factual and not opinion. I myself am a medical professional and my wife is a physician, and she agrees that the there is no medical justification for me coming in for this. Others have concurred. Over the course of my time as a patient, I've never experienced anything but absolutely outstanding care from this provider. Dr. Zahir is attentive, kind, knowledgeable, and helpful - he genuinely cares about his patients. The desk staff are exceptionally helpful and have managed to find room in the calendar for ad hoc appointments when I've needed them. I have been a patient of this practice for nine years. Unfortunately, the practice has been going downhill for a while, but my latest visit was the last straw. I am on a maintenance medication. Historically, that required me to come in at least once annually for a check-up. However, with no notice to me, the practice changed that policy to require visits every 6 months. In and of itself, this would only be a little irritating, but this time it meant having to make a healthy visit to the office two days after coronavirus was declared a pandemic. As you can imagine, I was hesitant to make a routine office visit during these circumstances. The office was not willing to make any exceptions. When I finally saw Dr. Zahir at my appointment, I expressed frustration at the situation and questioned whether the visit was valuable. He then responded by asking whether it would be valuable if he didn't give me the medication. I was astonished. He then launched into a tirade about how stressed he was and concluded by suggesting I find a different practice. This is by far the most unprofessional interaction I've ever had with a doctor. I'll certainly be taking the doctor up on his suggestion to find a new practice. A few other issues I have encountered over the years include: 1) A steadfast refusal to share my lab results. They require a visit to the office to discuss something as minor as slightly elevated cholesterol with a recommendation to eat less fried food. The administrative staff couldn't have just called me? 2) Being made to sit in the waiting room past my appointment time with a stomach virus while they verified my insurance (which hadn't changed). I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for care. read more

This is regards to Prosperity Internal Medicine and my experience with them. After more than a decade with Kaiser, the Affordable Care Act forced me to find new insurance and in looking for a doctor I tried Dr Tarique Zahir, who my parents had switched to after Margaret Light retired at Prosperity. I have seen Dr Zahir for I believe 3 annual physical exams. The last one he was so overly passionate about my getting vaccinated for Coronavirus and the threats of the Delta Variant (which quickly passed). Well I don't blame anyone who feels they have to get the vaccine, but personally I am healthy and I do not trust the media or this new mRNA technology. I do not fear Coronavirus and I know easily of as many cases of bad reactions to the vaccine as I do people who have been sick with the virus. So recently after hearing a lot about the use of Hydroxychloroquine (sp? -HCQ) and Ivermectin, I sent Dr Zahir a question through their email portal asking if I was sick with the virus if he would prescribe these drugs since I have no intention of being vaccinated. That day I got a call from his office saying I Need To Find A New Doctor! I was stunned. Here I thought this was a caring guy who cared about me as a person. Obviously I don't feel that way now. I just asked a question, I did not know that these drugs were not FDA-approved for treatment of Covid-19, though many who have taken these drugs have shown good results in combination with Zinc or other supplements. I was "fired" because I wouldn't follow his advice of getting a vaccine, and maybe he thought I was asking him to prescribe these drugs but I was just trying to find out how things worked. I have been 100% virus-free for 2 years and the healthiest I have been in a long time, not even getting a common cold. I do not feel that any American has to take advice from a doctor, that is why there is such a thing as a 2ndOpinion. Maybe I had to think some more as I was weighing things out, but his reaction to my question was upsetting. I wrote him an hour or so later through the portal to point out if I had some sort of cancer, that I would have a choice between uncomfortable radiation or chemotherapy treatments, or the choice of homeopathic or other attempts to treat the cancer, or I have the choice to die and not do anything. I was very cordial and just told him I was disappointed with his reaction. The response to that was like a junior high school student.... They Blocked My Access to the Portal, which includes computer access to my medical records with his office. I am sure they would probably charge money for me to get copies of these records in the future. So I would be very wary if you were considering to hire Prosperity Internal Medicine and Dr. Zahir as a doctor. I will say in my past visits, it appeared he tried to get through the visits quickly. I remember the good old days of seeing a doctor one time a year and asking them anything, even if you have a sore knee, but any questions outside of an annual physical would be billed (though perhaps that is partly due to insurance companies). The last physical I had Prosperity Internal Medicine tried to charge me for an EKG They Didn't Give To Me; I was due to see my cardiologist the next day so didn't need one from Dr Zahir though I still had to dispute the bill. Glad I caught that mistake! I will also note that I had called weeks in advance to schedule my July 2021 appointment with Dr Zahir and Shaquana never entered it in their system, so when I showed up and they said I didn't have an appointment. I was not happy. He did end up seeing me that day, and I pointed out he needed to have better knowledge of what his staff is doing or not doing.\ Thanks for reading this, so I have to find a new doctor, but mainly pretty upset to find out this man Dr Zahir did not care for me or treat me like the intelligent man that I am (degree in mechanical engineering) for just asking a question. I have been a long time patient of this practice going back to when it was Femme Care. I was a big fan of Margaret Light, the nurse practitioner at the time, and when she left I thought I would give Dr. Mir and Dr. Zahir a try. I found them to be a dynamic husband/wife team who took exceptionally good care of my health. When they moved from Fairfax to Reston I followed them even though it was quite a distance from my house. They recently hired a physician's assistant who is absolutely lovely but has limited experience in my opinion. I saw her in the beginning of July so that I could have my prescriptions refilled. During the visit, she discovered a heart murmur which was quite concerning to me since I have never had any issues with my heart. Since I was due for a physical at the end of July (a couple of weeks later) she suggested that I could have my physical with Dr. Zahir and he could look at the EKG that would be done at that time. That sounded perfect to me. I scheduled my appointment with Dr. Zahir and was totally surprised when the PA entered the room to do perform my physical. The physical went fine and while she didn't hear the murmur again she said my EKG was abnormal and that I should see a cardiologist. I really wanted Dr. Zahir's opinion of this since he had been taking care of me for years. The next day I called the office to schedule an appointment for a second opinion with Dr. Zahir. I had reiterated my concern as to why I would schedule an appointment with one doctor and then have a PA come in for my appointment. I was told that the 3 of them are interchangeable and that was their policy. I told her that I never knew of that policy and I had been a patient much longer than she had worked at the front desk. (The front desk is a revolving door of employees.) About a half hour later, she called me back and told me that she had to cancel my appointment with Dr. Zahir. She continued that he had a zero policy for people being rude and disrespectful. I told her that I wasn't rude to her and while she agreed with me, she said that Dr. Zahir felt I was being disrespectful to the PA for wanting a second opinion with him. She then told me that Dr. Zahir wanted me to find another doctor as he would no longer be taking care of me. A couple of hours later my patient portal was deleted leaving me without any of medical information. So that's that! Years of loyalty down the drain. I would pay attention to the other negative reviews because there is a lot of truth to them. As a patient you overlook a lot of things because you are happy with the doctors but some things should definitely be done differently in this practice. read more

I really like Dr. Mir but unfortunately she has the worst billing department! I have been trying since early October to get a refund on a copay fee I paid on Sept. 27, 2019 (since my Explanation of Benefits shows I wasn't supposed to pay it). Yet here we are on Jan. 9, 2020 and I STILL do not have my refund. Every time I (or my insurer, CareFirst) calls them, we get the run around from Sandra in billing, and the front desk. Prosperity Internal Medicine has been life changing for me. I am consistently impressed with Dr. Mir and Dr. Zahir's compassionate andcompllete care. From the moment I walk into the office and greeted by the friendly staff to the excellent nurses who take my vitals, I feel blessed to have found such a superior health care team. The office atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant, and I love having the onsite lab to complete any bloodwork. In working with Dr. Mir, she always demonstrates genuine concern and doesn't rush through my appointment. And, she asks if I have questions and then does extra research to look for all relevant treatments. Dr. Mir and Dr. Zahir are very friendly and the office is impeccably clean. This doesn't excuse having to wait more than an hour to see the doctor for 5 minutes to confirm that my symptoms have cleared up. It doesn't help that, despite having notified the front desk that my insurance has changed, they did not inform me that they do not take my insurance and I had to foot the bill for both visits at full price. This is a huge trade-off for having nice doctors so I'll not be returning. read more

If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Fortunately my bad experience stopped at the front desk as the office rejected seeing me because I refused to give them my social security number. I'm sorry but, are you going to pay my debts if my identity is stolen? I understand hackers target big corporations for the most part but if I can play an active role to reduce the chances of identity theft I will. Working in the healthcare I know that not every place is careful with the PHI of patients. Don't be fooled these doctor offices will give you the story of saying they need it for insurance purposes or claim purposes but that's not entirely true at all. Most auto insurance companies do require it for a payout but doctors use it more so for collections purposes. Insurance companies like Medicare and Tricare are out of the few insurances that still use this method of personal identifier for their members. By law these guys are able to do so and can require it from us consumers. Small business such as these are not. There is no obligation for us to provide this information to them, so don't get fooled. Obviously they can observe the right to accept or deny care, so I understand. I can't imagine anyone would want to come to a place like this. The interaction with the lady over the phone was also not pleasant once she asked for the social. Office policy or not you don't need the social to provide care. I know there are some people who don't care and give their SSN freely, I used to be that way. Especially when I first became an adult. You know, you think your cool because your "in charge" of yourself. (Well I was a weird one) But now that I'm older and adulthood sets in, its always better to be safe than sorry. And always ask questions if you don't understand how something works. Just yesterday I received a letter from my car insurance stating that they recently got hacked and certain information was obtained... I just wanted to share my experience, hopefully it can help someone out. read more

I've been visiting Prosperity Internal Medicine for a while now and have seen Dr. Light, Dr. Kitay (who isn't there anymore I don't think), and Dr. Mir. Most of my appointments have been with Dr. Mir and she's been great. She's very warm, personable, and easy to talk to. I appreciate that I can see her for both general health issues as well as gyno. They also take blood in the office now for blood testing, which is nice. I used to have to go to LabCorp or something like it when they wanted to do blood testing. It's nice that this is a 'one stop shop' kind of place. My only complaint is not really with the office, but with the complex. There is a large parking garage on site, but depending on the time of day that you are there parking can be hard to find. I've always found a space, but sometimes it takes a little bit of circling. read more

UPDATE, Dec. 2016: This practice has closed at the Fairfax location and moved out to Reston. Also, Margaret Light has retired, which is good for her and not-so-much for me. I see Dr. Margaret Light, CNP, Ph.D. I've been going here for many years, when it was still called Femme Care and specialized in women only. I've seen Dr. Mir as well and both women are friendly, quick, knowledgeable and offered me great referrals to specialists. The gal who draws blood is quick and painless and the office staff has fit me in for emergency appointments whenever needed. My only complaint is the parking garage. It's narrow, it's crowded and sometimes it's totally full and everyone is ruthlessly looking for spots. Parking my Honda Odyssey is a challenge. read more

I have been a patient of both Dr. Mir and Dr. Zahir for over 10 years. They are a bit out of the way for me but they both are absolutely worth it. They are not the run of the mill Dr's office in a major metropolitan area. They actually take their time ( neither have ever rushed me ) and unlike most Dr's in this area HAVE READ MY FILE. I detest going to Drs who are always in a rush and expect you to convey your entire medical history so they don't have to read your file . Furthermore , they are closer to my age than most Dr's I researched in the area which gives me a level of comfort because I know they too can relate. They are kind , understanding and their front office folks are too . Their practice also offers in house blood drawings , ekgs and they have a brand new covid test that you get results in 15 mins that is super accurate ! Granted the covid test was out of pocked at a cost of 225 but the instant results were totally worth it to me ! I highly recommend both of these Dr's for not only their professionalism but on a personal note , they are both just two super cool humans and I look forward to seeing them when I go ! read more

Margaret Light is absolutely the BEST nurse practitioner ever. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable, but she listens to your symptoms and doesn't downplay anything like some doctors do. My mom had some serious health scares this year and nobody could find a reason for the problem. She did! Not to mention I had some blood work recently that revealed some minor problems. She called me personally to give me the results AND to talk me through the treatment plan. And she didn't rush me off the phone, I was able to ask her my questions no problem. I've been seeing Margaret for years and she is absolutely the kindest and best!! Yes, sometimes the parking is a mess and yes, sometimes they overbook and you have to wait. It's worth it. Even though I spoke about Margaret, the other 2 dr's are amazing as well. Very smart and kind. read more

I've been to this practice three times and have no complaints. First, I met with Dr. Mir as a new patient interested in getting established with a PCP. She answered all of my questions and I got set up for allergy testing and a follow-up appointment with her. Dr. Mir is kind and friendly. I barely had to wait, and I bypassed the initial paperwork by completing everything online. About two weeks later I made an emergency same day appointment and saw Dr. Zahir. I called at 8:00 and got an appointment at 10:30 am. I had barely sat down in the waiting room when I was called back. Dr. Zahir diagnosed my sharp stomach pain as appendicitis and sent me to the ER immediately. Well, he was spot on. I had emergency surgery to remove the appendix that day and had a follow-up appt with Dr. Zahir a week later. Again, I barely had to wait, he was quick and kind, and all my questions were answered. Eventually, I plan to see Dr. Mir to move forward with the allergy testing. Even with their upcoming move to Reston, I still plan on using this practice for my primary care. Dr Zahir and Dr Mir are the absolute best!! I have been going to this office for 5 years now. I had a female doctor when I started that was ok but does not work there anymore. Then I meet Dr Zahir and his wife Dr Mir. They are so pleasant to be around. They are very professional always, very knowledgeable about medicine in general and always go the extra mile to make sure they take the time to explain everything to me and make me feel better. I have recommended all my friends and family to them and will continue to do so. I love that I can see either of them and get the same result. They recently redecorated them office and looks very nice. They also have a lab inside the office now and you can save a trip to lap corp if u need any blood work. read more

I have been a patient of Prosperity for a few months now; I am very happy with my doctor/patient relationship with Dr. Zahir and also with how nice and accomodating the staff are. Monique, Tejean, and Deb have always been wonderful and reliable. I can come to this office for routine health checkups as well as gyno appts as well. The only problem I have encountered is the parking deck for their office, which is part of a few buildings in a major health complex, is difficult to find a spot. read more

UPDATE: As you can see, I used to love this place. Even when I moved 35 mins away, I was always willing to drive and see them. Unfortunately, within the past few years, their customer service and caring culture (that, I used to LOVE) has really been lacking. I got labs done because I wasn't feeling well, and I HAD to call 2 weeks later to check the results. Their wait-times have gotten longer and longer and their front desk staff is rude and unhelpful. My messages from the doctor, that used to be responded to within 48 hours, now go over 72+ hours without a response. There are MANY more places that are way more efficient, kinder, and offer similar services--go elsewhere (I have). *******(unrelated to their service but important nonetheless**** since moving practices, I found MUCH more reasonable doctor follow-up pricing. They charge WAY over ($200+) BCBS allowed amounts, so you end up owing a TON of money to Dr. Zahir and Dr. Mir. Another way they've been swindling..... read more

My review is similar to the below review. I am a brand new patient and had an appointment today. I went online yesterday and was able to reserve an appt with Dr. Zahir this morning. I have never had a Dr. make me feel so comfortable and assured that they cared about me. I had been misdiagnosed in the past and Dr. Zahir explained to me why the treatment I had been given was ineffective. Then he listened to all of my symptoms and concerns I've been experiencing. Yes, he LISTENED for about 15 minutes. As someone who's experienced the churn-em n burn-em type doctors, it was super refreshing to experience this. He sat and talked with me until I was ready to go, he would've stayed longer but he already answered all my questions and put me at complete ease. He gave me his diagnose, prescribed me a medicine, and I was on my way. 15-20 minutes after following his care, I feel like a new person. Part of this may be placebo effect but either way it is working. I was very stressed about what I was experiencing and Dr. Zahir calmed me down, assured me that WE were going to figure it out, and he gained a customer for life. I felt like I was talking to a friend I've had for years. The nurses were very sweet and everyone made me feel comfortable. A tough feat at a doctor's office. Hi All, I went here for the first time today as a referral from my other doctor since my former Primary physician retired. I can tell you already that I'm THRILLED to have been referred to this practice and in particular to Dr. Zahir. Dr. Zahir is wonderful and listened to me and has a very proactive attitude assuring me "we're going to get to the bottom of this and come up with a game plan". I have never seen or heard a doctor say such a thing but he was really engaged with what was going on with me. As a new patient, he spent a good 30 minutes with me asking questions so that he got a clear picture. Things that impressed me: 1. Most medical practices want you to fill out a huge stack of paperwork giving your health history only to repeat it to the nurse and/or doctor when I've noticed that most never read your paperwork anyway. Not here though! I only had to provide my insurance and driver's license before I was called to the back to meet with the nurse. 2. When meeting with the nurse, we went over some basic stuff and my weight and bp were taken. All info typed immediately into a computer as part of my electronic file. 3. Next, met with my new doctor and gave him a high level overview of health history and he typed away into my electronic record asking me questions along the way. 4. Next, saw their Phlebotomist who drew my blood so it could be sent off. 5. Checked out with the staff (both are very nice and professional ladies). 6. Beautiful practice as far as the decor, comfort and cleanliness. The doctor said he would be in touch once he had the bloodwork results. This place is so efficient! So, as much as I loved my former primary, their system was a bit antiquated as all the medical records were kept in hard copy plus I had to go to a lab for a blood draw. One more thing, I met Dr. Zahir's wife who is also another doctor there and her name is Dr. Taseen Mir and she seemed equally nice. Dr. Zahir told me that she's also available in case I want to sonetimes go to her. Overall a truly great experience and so glad I have a new Primary physician again. read more

The staff and the doctors are the best. Very professional and excellent customer service. Both Dr. Mir and Dr. Zahir are the best. The waiting time is very minimal. Both doctors are very knowledgeable and you don't feel like they are rushing you just to go to the next patient. They genuinely care about you as a patient and as a person. I have never left they with my questions not answered. At the end of the visit, I am always asked "do you have any additional questions". I have been a patient with Prosperity Internal Medicine for over 18 years. I recently had a bad experience, wrote a letter and received no response. I called today April 17, 2019 and was told they complied with my note to send my blood work to a location close to my home. Through he years I have been willing to tolerate (front desk turn-over, waiting in a cold exam room waiting 30 minutes to see the doctor, office manager not returning your call). When the office moved, I still supported their business. I live in Warrenton, VA which is a bit of a drive. Customer Service is always great when nothing is wrong. The true test of whether a business really cares about outstanding customer service is when something is wrong and they do not make it right or call to clear up any misunderstanding. I am disappointed in the management. When you listen to them speak, they boost about customer service. read more

I had a very similar experience to another that was shared on here. I, too, signed up for their medically supervised weight loss program, which promises to be one that is highly comprehensive and utilizes a multi-faced approach including dietary, group, behavioral, and medical therapy (see website). While I did fill out a behavioral assessment, I never saw any results of the analyzation of the assessment. I received mediocre (at best) service from Lorraine. I shared my concerns with Dr. Mir, who promised to follow up with Lorraine. Nothing changed. I asked for partial reimbursement for the fees I paid, because the "services" I paid for are not what I got (no group, behavioral, or medical therapy). The doctor believes I was seeking reimbursement because I did not achieve my weight loss goals. I question the ethics of this practice. Avoid. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I signed up for their medically supervised weight loss program, paid over $2500 that included a behavioral assessment, appetite suppressants and unlimited follow ups with a DOCTOR, and got mediocre service from a person called Loraine who is not a doctor and doesn't know what she is doing. In addition to paying this fee upfront, I started getting huge bills on the side. As of today, they refuse to return my money although I was only there two or three times. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and Loraine essentially lied about the case. I am now getting ready to send them to court as I am having awful effects from taking Phentermine under no medical supervision. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

The good: Margaret Light is *amazing*. She cares about the whole patient, not just one or two aspects or symptoms. I never doubted the quality of the medical or patient care I got from her. Doctor Mir and Zahir are also good, and all three are accessible - you don't have to wait weeks to get an appointment, and if you have an emergency, they get back to you quickly. The bad: the staff. I was consistently blown away by how poor the front office team was. I would call with medical questions or concerns, be shuffled into the nurses line, and would wait *weeks* for a response - even with multiple follow ups. Every time I called with a questions the staff acted as if they were doing me a favor simply by answering the phone, and certainly they never responded as if patient care and support was part of their job. read more

Update: Yes, sometimes this office drives me crazy but there are some definite pros as well. For instance, I was not feeling well and called on a Friday afternoon and they asked me if I could be there in 20 minutes. Obviously, that's fantastic! Also, blood work is taken in house. I had to go to Lab Corp recently for another reason and it reminded me how convenient it is to get blood work done at the same location. Seriously, it take 5 minutes or less. Also the person who draws the blood is very good at minimizing the pain and also not leaving bruises. Grrrrr...I am not happy with this place at the moment! I made an appointment specifically for 1pm, after the doctors return from lunch, so I would be the first appointment in line and would not have to wait uncomfortably in the exam room, while sticking to a cold exam table for 30 minutes per the usual. When I arrived at 12:45 pm, the receptionist told me my appointment was scheduled for 11:00 am that morning. I am beyond positive that I chose the 1:00 pm appointment. An 11:00 am appointment is the worst appointment time here because the 11:00 am appointment time has to compensate for all of the late people and the people who ask too many questions. There is no way I would sign up for that! Of course there was no corrective action taken on their part. They simply offered that I could book a new appointment. Well, that's really helpful considering how I strategically re-scheduled my entire day to make this appointment, took time off of work, missed important meetings, among other things that I won't get into, but believe me it was a huge inconvenience!!!! I asked if they could squeeze me in later in the day but it was an automatic no. I hate that when their staff makes a mistake, the patient (me, in this case), is the only one who has to make any concessions. It's like "oops, sorry, see ya next time, tood-a-loo..." This office could stand to invest in a confirmation system where patients can verify their appointment times at the time of booking; therefore avoiding PEBCAK errors (problem-exists-between-chair-and-keyboard). The ONLY reason I come here is because Margaret Light is a very good nurse practitioner. read more

Dr Tarique Zahir and Dr Taseen Mir are the best primary care physicians I have visited and took the time to explain every small detail during my visit. They followed up after my visit to ensure everything was going well and that I was improving. This level of care goes beyond business to how patient care should really be. As much as I like my Doctor here (Dr. Zahir), this office rejects patients from being seen due to owed/previous balances. I'm very shocked this is still happening. This may fall under an ethics policy somewhere. How can you reject someone medical care with a balance that the patient offered to pay half for? I will be looking into this matter. 3 stars are for my doctor who I will no longer see again because I'm taking my health elsewhere that won't reject me. read more

When I became a patient at Femme Care 12 years ago, I wanted a practice that specialized in women's medicine. I should have become suspicious when the practice changed its name. None of the doctors whom I have seen over the years are still there. Among the 3 professionals on staff, the only one i know is Margaret Light, a nurse practitioner, and she is wonderful. The two doctors are a husband and wife. NOBODY notified me (a long-standing patient) that the doctors were going elsewhere and that I'd have to change doctors. Moreover, today when I tried to make an appointment to see Margaret Light, the "scheduler" called me back and informed me that the practice stopped accepting Medicare in July. I would have to pay out of pocket if I wanted to see Margaret. Why weren't patients notified??? Avoid this practice. Nobody cares about long-time patients. The only reason I even learned any of these facts is because I searched online and made repeated phone calls to the practice. Finally, someone called me back.......but really didn't want to have me as a patient. read more
