The pho here is 10/10. After just one sip of the pho broth, I was hooked. It is so flavorful and easily one of my favorite pho's that I've ever had. The only other times I have such a reaction to pho is 1) my mom's pho--we are Vietnamese and 2) Pho Dien in Houston TX. I've pho from so many places I can't count. And this is now my top (aside from my mom's of course). The spring rolls are perfect. Good amount of shrimp and pork. Sauce is amazing. This is an authentic, no-frills restaurant. Vietnamese owned and cooked. Nothing fancy-just good food. I love this place and am telling everyone I know to go there now!! MUST go!

Generous portions and flavorful dishes. Highly recommended if you're craving Asian and if you just feel like grabbing Asian

Pretty good! Sadly, when we arrived on a Friday night at 830, they had already run out of pho broth by 730. Seriously?? We got the fried egg rolls to start (really cool fry, delicious). Make sure to get the three sauces to enhance the rolls! Instead of pho, I then got the pork wok fried rice noodles instead. Noodles were tasty, lots of pork and vegetables. I also got to taste my dining partners dish - he ordered #22 which was wok fried noodles (these were curly, basically packaged ramen but so so delicious) and every imaginable meat they had on hand. Other than a sad shock of not being able to order pho, the meal was good. It was super busy when we arrived so for better service, come earlier or later. Otherwise, good place for noodles! I have no idea how authentic this is (I only really know pho) but the food was good and that's all that matters, right?

Number 12. Rive vermicelli noodles with beef, chilli and vegetables. Such a big serving I don't think I'll need dinner.

After living in Norway in another city for two years, I was craving decent vietnamese food so badly. This place is not the fanciest, but the fanciest vietnamese places are never the best, the busiest are. And boy is it busy. That being said, I've never had a problem getting a table here relatively quickly. My favourites are the Pho Bo and Vermicelli noodles with spring rolls. This place is great authentic vietnamese, not some fusion or place that tries to do chinese, vietnamese, korean, japanase and sometime pizza!? yet fails at all of them. Will be back again, and again, and again!

This place is most described by one word: authentic! I am not an expert of Vietnamese cuisine, but the whole feeling in this place gives you an authentic feeling. On the downside it is very very busy. You might end up waiting for a table, being changed from one table to another in order to fit more people or to be forgotten with your food order. But again, although they are busy, the quality of the food is good and the prices are cheap. Hence I believe it is a restaurant worth visiting for Vietnamese cravings or generally for healthy food.

Tasty food and got my food very fast! Cozy little restaurant with good menu. The staff doesn't really say much just take your order, give you the food and let you pay. But overall a nice place I'll probably return to!

The pho is awesome!! Would recommend the medium rare pho!! I usually like my meats well done but the brisket was devine. The Pho broth tastes like the pho back at home in the states. So it was lovely to get a taste of home. I love that there's plenty of veggies in the broth which made it so much better.

I have been lucky enough to visit Vietnam and a few other countries in Asia and I consider the cuisine to be one my favourites when dining out. I was delighted to see that Oslo seemed to have a good few Vietnamese restaurants and this was the second one out of the two I tried. Inside it had an authentic Asian cafe type feel and the staff were helpful when asked something but not overly friendly. The menu was quite long and had lots of interesting options that made it hard to just settle on one. I ended up with a chicken, noodle, beansprout dish which also had plenty of salad. It also came with ground peanuts and a tangy sauce up put over the top. I enjoyed it all without being particularly blown away by it, but I reckon that was more about the dish I chose & personal taste rather than the quality of the food on offer. Nice place for a meal, seemed to be quite a good effort at authentic food and was not to expensive. (Not cheap either though) Worth a look if your in the area and fancy some Asian food and a beer. (I had a Kirin)

Came here because we saw great Yelp reviews but it turned out to be a quite a disappointment. The restaurant was really busy when we got there. We had no problem waiting but the attitude of the staff was horrible. Aside from the fact they took forever to come take our order, they treated us very differently from the "local" customers. For example, they told us there's no spring rolls because they're too busy to make them now, but we saw them serving the dish to the table that came in after us. When we wanted to place additional order, they kept ignoring us. The quality of food was also not up to standard. The rice was soggy and the soup was very oily..... Really not sure why it's got such good review in Oslo.

Reasonably priced (by Norwegian standards) and very tasty Vietnamese fare in heart of Oslo. An extensive menu but rather cramped seating. The spring rolls were stuffed full of shrimps and beef pho was richly flavored. The rice vermicelli with pork is less impressive but nevertheless decent. Overall, highly recommended.

I can confirm the marinated pork chop here is way better than the other location! Flavor bomb when biting into the porkchop.

This was unquestionably the case here at Fragrance of the Heart, which appeared out of the (literal) mist with red lentil dal, exactly at the moment I became fed up with Norwegian food and started craving red lentil dal. It was wonderful, but of course it was. It was singularly what I was searching for. Their namesake bowl wasn't as impressive. They sort of just threw a bunch of stuff into a bowl with no regard for how it might work together. Smoked tofu? Potatoes? Brown guacamole? Beans? Sure. I can say that the ginger lemonade was great and unaided by my cravings, as I didn't know I wanted it until I saw it. It was so gingery as to rival Jamaican ginger juice, which is no joke.

A calm atmosphere where the servers speak softly, people read newspaper instead of Yelping, and serene flute wafts in the background. In this respect, I get why some would adore this cafe. But to be fair, I'm not the right person to rate this establishment fully, as this opinion is strictly about food and less than a holistic view of the cafe. It may be food for the soul, but it's not exactly food for the foodies. Menu includes two kinds of quiches, two soups of the day and an assortment of veggie lasagnas, spinach pies and avocado wraps. The pies don't look that appetizing to be honest, as if it has been premade days ahead and unfrozen. The creamy leek soup was ok actually, if rather unexciting and half a note too tangy. On a good note, their coffee is raved by other reviewers and it does deliver. It is somewhat overpriced for its standards and this holds back its value.

The Masala Dosai was a crepe made from a fermented rice and uridhal (lentil) batter, served with a filling of spiced potatoes and served with dhal (lentil soup), coconut chutney, and sambar (vegetable/lentil soup) on the side. The crepe was perfectly thin and crispy, and each of the accompaniments was perfectly spiced (especially with lots of mustard seeds). I also tried the Kottu Rotti Chicken, a dish made of chopped roti flatbreads stir-fried with shredded chicken, egg, onion, and chilli. The rotis retained a chewy texture, and the meaty chicken and spices turned the boring leftovers into an exciting new dish. Even more memorable than the food, however, was our server, a new immigrant from Nepal, who made us feel right at home and made special accommodations to serve us even close to closing time. This is a great, local, small business worth supporting!
