The pho here is 10/10. After just one sip of the pho broth, I was hooked. It is so flavorful and easily one of my favorite pho's that I've ever had. The only other times I have such a reaction to pho is 1) my mom's pho--we are Vietnamese and 2) Pho Dien in Houston TX. I've pho from so many places I can't count. And this is now my top (aside from my mom's of course). The spring rolls are perfect. Good amount of shrimp and pork. Sauce is amazing. This is an authentic, no-frills restaurant. Vietnamese owned and cooked. Nothing fancy-just good food. I love this place and am telling everyone I know to go there now!! MUST go!

Generous portions and flavorful dishes. Highly recommended if you're craving Asian and if you just feel like grabbing Asian

Pretty good! Sadly, when we arrived on a Friday night at 830, they had already run out of pho broth by 730. Seriously?? We got the fried egg rolls to start (really cool fry, delicious). Make sure to get the three sauces to enhance the rolls! Instead of pho, I then got the pork wok fried rice noodles instead. Noodles were tasty, lots of pork and vegetables. I also got to taste my dining partners dish - he ordered #22 which was wok fried noodles (these were curly, basically packaged ramen but so so delicious) and every imaginable meat they had on hand. Other than a sad shock of not being able to order pho, the meal was good. It was super busy when we arrived so for better service, come earlier or later. Otherwise, good place for noodles! I have no idea how authentic this is (I only really know pho) but the food was good and that's all that matters, right?

Number 12. Rive vermicelli noodles with beef, chilli and vegetables. Such a big serving I don't think I'll need dinner.

After living in Norway in another city for two years, I was craving decent vietnamese food so badly. This place is not the fanciest, but the fanciest vietnamese places are never the best, the busiest are. And boy is it busy. That being said, I've never had a problem getting a table here relatively quickly. My favourites are the Pho Bo and Vermicelli noodles with spring rolls. This place is great authentic vietnamese, not some fusion or place that tries to do chinese, vietnamese, korean, japanase and sometime pizza!? yet fails at all of them. Will be back again, and again, and again!

This place is most described by one word: authentic! I am not an expert of Vietnamese cuisine, but the whole feeling in this place gives you an authentic feeling. On the downside it is very very busy. You might end up waiting for a table, being changed from one table to another in order to fit more people or to be forgotten with your food order. But again, although they are busy, the quality of the food is good and the prices are cheap. Hence I believe it is a restaurant worth visiting for Vietnamese cravings or generally for healthy food.

Tasty food and got my food very fast! Cozy little restaurant with good menu. The staff doesn't really say much just take your order, give you the food and let you pay. But overall a nice place I'll probably return to!

The pho is awesome!! Would recommend the medium rare pho!! I usually like my meats well done but the brisket was devine. The Pho broth tastes like the pho back at home in the states. So it was lovely to get a taste of home. I love that there's plenty of veggies in the broth which made it so much better.

I have been lucky enough to visit Vietnam and a few other countries in Asia and I consider the cuisine to be one my favourites when dining out. I was delighted to see that Oslo seemed to have a good few Vietnamese restaurants and this was the second one out of the two I tried. Inside it had an authentic Asian cafe type feel and the staff were helpful when asked something but not overly friendly. The menu was quite long and had lots of interesting options that made it hard to just settle on one. I ended up with a chicken, noodle, beansprout dish which also had plenty of salad. It also came with ground peanuts and a tangy sauce up put over the top. I enjoyed it all without being particularly blown away by it, but I reckon that was more about the dish I chose & personal taste rather than the quality of the food on offer. Nice place for a meal, seemed to be quite a good effort at authentic food and was not to expensive. (Not cheap either though) Worth a look if your in the area and fancy some Asian food and a beer. (I had a Kirin)

Came here because we saw great Yelp reviews but it turned out to be a quite a disappointment. The restaurant was really busy when we got there. We had no problem waiting but the attitude of the staff was horrible. Aside from the fact they took forever to come take our order, they treated us very differently from the "local" customers. For example, they told us there's no spring rolls because they're too busy to make them now, but we saw them serving the dish to the table that came in after us. When we wanted to place additional order, they kept ignoring us. The quality of food was also not up to standard. The rice was soggy and the soup was very oily..... Really not sure why it's got such good review in Oslo.

Reasonably priced (by Norwegian standards) and very tasty Vietnamese fare in heart of Oslo. An extensive menu but rather cramped seating. The spring rolls were stuffed full of shrimps and beef pho was richly flavored. The rice vermicelli with pork is less impressive but nevertheless decent. Overall, highly recommended.

I couldn't resist a takeaway banh mi, and was pleasantly surprised to see not one, but SEVEN different banh mi. The charsiu banhmi was proper: crunchy baguette, zingy filling, hoisin sauce and cilantro. This dig showed promises. So yesterday I had a proper sit-down affair. The crispy duck was true to its crispiness and delicious if a bit heavy on the ginger. The wonton soup and the seafood in satay sauce (a rather unusual combination) checked out okay. The seafood tasted freshly prepared, still had a good snap to it, not drenched in sauce for hours on end. It would be even better with less ginger and bamboo shoots, but I'm nitpicking. It was a good deal, 2-course meal for 200 kr. It's not a pure Vietnamese per se. It's a pan-Asian restaurant with a rather generic menu. Normally that is a death sentence, but this is an exception because they cook everything better than standard Asian restaurants of Oslo. Apart from the lack of heat (can be fixed by a dollop of Sriracha), the spices are quite alright, and it's officially added to my honorable list of "great cheap eats".

The broth also tasted artificial and almost no flavor. I am Vietnamese and have had pho across the multiple states and countries and this was definitely one of the worst. The duck salad on the other hand was very good. It had a good seasoning and the duck meat itself was good, although small sized strips. The restaurant itself was very nice looking. Decor and atmosphere was welcoming. It was a little hard to find since it is inside the shopping center. Managed by Vietnamese lady. The service was below standard. There was only one lady managing the restaurant when we were there. She was nice until we mentioned we needed separate checked then she clearly got frustrated. I admit we should have told her beforehand so that is not all fault. However in the service industry it is not ok to display those reactions to customers. The duck salad came out in good time. The pho came out much later, and we noticed other tables got their pho before ours even though we arrived earlier (according to my friend--I did not pay close attention to this). If you want real pho go to Lille Saigon. If you want a place with a good location on a tourist street, and nice restaurant setting, but don't care about pho, then this place might do the trick for you. I'm really surprised at all the other positive reviews...they must not have had the pho.

There were alarm bells as I came in - a full bar (unless it's an upscale restaurant, Asian dives should be all about food, and not a damn about drinks).. and big groups of customers but lacking in Asians, always a bad omen in an Asian eatery.. Then it dawned to me that the name "Viet Nam House" sounds exactly like the generic name an inexperienced diner would go to ("Hei Asgeir, do you want to try 'Vietnamese' food? I think I saw a place once called Viet Nam House.") But let's drop the prejudice and give it a fair shake. I have a particular set mind when I want a Pho - a true test of a Vietnamese restaurant - rich, beefy broth, delicate balance of herbs and spices, but beefy. Thinly sliced raw beef that cooks in that very hot broth. What they serve is a weak broth, way too sweet, very dark, with thick chunks of beef. It's not tasteless, it's just not a good pho. (Norway being expensive, I ate all of it up anyway lol). It is at least a notch below the phos of the two other vietnamese around. Combined with a disappointment of another dish, a stir-fry chicken and vegetables, then I give this place a very weak 2 star. What's up with Norway's infatuation of wok dishes with huge chunks of onions anyway? The chicken stir-fry is instead a sloppy pot of bamboo shoot/quartered onions/paprika. It's a little better than average Norwegian-Asians go, so I'll give it a 1.5-star.

It's also worth mentioning that Tom Kha is my very favorite soup and theirs leaves nothing to be desired. I tried my friends pho and felt the same. I highly recommend checking this place out. A very popular…read morefood trend today is Asian fusion, but the Vietnamese has been doing this way before it became fashionable. The banh mi is a perfect example of Vietnamese fusion. A banh mi basically combines French baguette and Asian fillings. It is really the embodiment of East meets West, which Vietnamese cuisine is famous for. I myself am a big fan of Vietnamese cuisine and was very eager to try out Miss Gin. My wife and I decided to try Miss Gin after seeing excellent reviews on Yelp. We both ordered the Chasiu (roast red pork) banh mi as we both love chasiu. I must say, it was love at first bite! The baguette was crunchy on the outside and chasiu was sweet and savory. Being Vietnamese, flavors were balanced with pickled carrots and radish, bit of heat from the seasoned fish sauce, and freshness from the cucumber and cilantro (koriander). Miss Gin is a perfect example of how to stay true to one type of cuisine and doing it well. Although Miss Gin is a relatively small take out restaurant, their choice to showcase Vietnamese street food and banh mi fits their profile. Prices are extremely fair for Norway food prices. Vietnam was trully highlighted in their food selection and I look forward to trying out the other banh mi selections and spring rolls.

Miss Gin is a tiny little hole in the wall on Thorvald Meyers Gate. I hopped on in and browsed the cold and hot case curiously. It took about 10 minutes or so, which went by quickly while sitting on their comfy stools (I am short so they were just the right height). While waiting I saw pictures on the wall of other items on the menu... the fresh rolls look really good! I plan on ordering those next time. I took my banh mi to go and nestled it in my sack hoping it'd stay warm on the hike home. It's aroma tempted me on my journey and I was happy to see that it was still warm when I unwrapped it in my kitchen. Miss Gin does a great job on the bread, it's delicious, I am not sure if they bake it in house or order it in, but I did see him toast it in the oven, so it had a pleasant crunch. The mayo, to meat, to pickled veggie ratios were spot on! The meat was really really flavorful, I am not sure what spices or marinade were involved but it was so good. I polished off the whole thing, send a picture to my husband, and bragged I had an amazing banh mi in Norway! I can't wait to go back!
