WOW! Being from Seattle I know my Asian cuisine, I eat it constantly and know what's good and what isn't. Miss Gin is legit!
Miss Gin is a tiny little hole in the wall on Thorvald Meyers Gate. I hopped on in and browsed the cold and hot case curiously. I saw something called pig ear salad that was almost interesting enough to buy and take home, maybe next time. I ended up ordering the pork banh mi to go. It took about 10 minutes or so, which went by quickly while sitting on their comfy stools (I am short so they were just the right height). While waiting I saw pictures on the wall of other items on the menu... the fresh rolls look really good! I plan on ordering those next time.
I took my banh mi to go and nestled it in my sack hoping it'd stay warm on the hike home. It's aroma tempted me on my journey and I was happy to see that it was still warm when I unwrapped it in my kitchen. Miss Gin does a great job on the bread, it's delicious, I am not sure if they bake it in house or order it in, but I did see him toast it in the oven, so it had a pleasant crunch. The mayo, to meat, to pickled veggie ratios were spot on! The meat was really really flavorful, I am not sure what spices or marinade were involved but it was so good. I polished off the whole thing, send a picture to my husband, and bragged I had an amazing banh mi in Norway! I can't wait to go back! read more
