    Fried Sausage buns
    Johannes E.

You an either pick a full menu or pick out the dishes you find interesting. Our waiter recommended ordering 2-3 dishes to get full. We got the sushi poke bowl with rice, salmon, avocado-wasabi, spring onions and kvite (a type of white fish) - tasty and fresh, but no "wow-yay!"-experience. For a second dish we had the fried sausage buns - not sure what was on but it was really tasty. For a third dish we had the dumplings with some kind of mushroom sause - tasty and good quality, however no "wow-dumpling-yay" -experience here. Great for a dumpling, but not the best ones i've had - something was missing - maybe add some spices? The last dish we had was crab cakes with kimchi-salad. The salad was fresh and the dish alright, but no "wow-crab-yay"-experience here either. Three stars for the food - but leaning towards four stars because of good service and a cosy atmosphere - would recommend a visit. A tip is to share the dishes, the plates are well suited for sharing. Next time we will probably stay for longer and try one of the menues.

Ramensøndag: Bland bowl of Tonkotsu 165kr
    Peter T.

Went to their second Ramensøndag on 24 January, 2016 due to the overwhelming respond. We managed to book the table for 17:30 just half hour after they start serving the ramen... First of all, they get the credit for being smart to tap into one of the most "under supply" dish in Oslo, therefore, the demand was high... But also can get very risky because, a good bowl of ramen require knowledge and patience. Unfortunately, the team at Hitchhiker lack both!!! I tried all the 3 ramen they had on offer that day, the Tsukemen 155kr, Tonkotsu 165kr and Shio 175kr. The noodles they used for all the 3 ramen were reasonably good in texture, very similar to the curly chinese egg noodle, so i am unsure if they even make them in-house! The Tsukemen is not the real dipping noodle because the sauce they used was the same as the tan-tan (sichuan) spicy noodle sauce you get from the jar. It has a lot of minced meat and not soupy enough for dipping. As per their description, its a "mapo" sauce, WTH? The Tonkotsu and Shio were very bland broth/consomme not even has the hint of pork. A good tonkotsu should be creamy, non-greasy and rich! I guess they pretty much made a huge amount of tonkotsu consomme (maybe from extract or concentrated) and used the other half with some additional miso paste and called it shio!!! Overall, I dislike business that try to "con" people with their inferior food. If you want to make it as "fusion" then, its a different story and should put a disclaimer clearly on the menu...

Hands down the best restaurant at Mathallen in Oslo. Simple menu, it changes all the time. On saturday it was either a 5 course for 475,- kroner og choose from those 5 dishes at 145,- for a main course. We shared delish gyoza as a starter, and had steambun, crispy duck and green curry as mains, all super noms and filling. Cosy ambiance, asian/mexican cantina with west coast hip hop playing. A great place to eat and hang out.

Honestly, I thought this place might be overhyped, but it totally lived up to the buzz. Such a perfect spot for a quick bite! The atmosphere was just chef's kiss and made for the best start to our Mexico City trip and foodie adventure for the night. This place has truly stood the test of time over the last three years, and I highly recommend checking it out! 10/10 RECOMMEND THE LYCHEE MARTINI WOW ITS THE BEST IVE EVER HAD

It was a tough decision! There were too many interesting options. The Red Sheng turned out to be a solid choice. My friend ordered the Lychee-Chee but they brought her the Chili-ling. We didn't realize it until the end of the meal. We mentioned it and they brought her the right drink at the end. She knew something was wrong when the drink was spicy and that's not something she would have ordered. For the food, the dumplings came out first. There were two of each type: green, red, orange and black. They explained each one and we had to make choices among us about who wanted to eat what. We also got the scallops, which I think are hard to mess up. They were delicious. The Hakka Noodles were a highlight. The fried rice was underwhelming. The night we were there, they had a live DJ right next to our table which we found pleasant. The music wasn't too loud and set the mood. For a large group, the wait staff was very patient and helpful.

The appetizers were delicious as the dumplings were so juicy and tasty. I had gotten a Chinese meal (they offer various asian cuisines) that was strips of fried beef with onions, peppers, and carrots. It was really tasty, and had a unique flavor I had never had before. I wish there was a bit more sauce in this meal, and that the beer selection could have been a tiny bit better. Otherwise I had a great time!

We arrived at 5:30pm, without a reservation, and they were able to accommodate us, though mentioned they'd prefer we finish up within 90 minutes. The tables around us definitely turned at least once during our time there, so they're quite proficient with their service, handily ferrying people through their dinner and our the door, expeditiously. As for dinner, we started out with the prawn chips, which were as good as they ever are (and later, we learned are all pre-fried and stored in a large bin and simply portioned out with each individual order). My friend and I both then had our own bowl of hot and sour soup (one bowl could be shared by two people, if neither of you are particularly hungry). If you love spice, you'll love this soup. Good flavors, most definitely spicy (said as someone who loves spicy food). We then both had stir fried veggies (carrots, mushrooms, snapped peas, and baby corn) with chicken and prawns, in a brown sauce, which we both liked OK (liked, not loved). Overall, we thought it was all OK, and service itself was attentive and good, but we weren't wowed as much as we hoped we'd be. We'd likely explore another option rather than coming back, though truth be told, this place isn't necessarily bad. Just...OK.
