I have used this tailor before for coat alterations and was happy with the results. However, my most recent experience was quite different. A pair of pants took eight weeks to be altered, with very little communication throughout. When I then brought in a dress for alterations, I was told they would not take it as it is not a bridal item. I found this disappointing, especially as a returning customer. read more

If I could give 6 stars, I would. Lilianne hemmed my Daughter's grad dress. it wasn't simple. lace overlay with scalloped hem. My phone call was returned. I was asked for photos and given a quote for 2 options. less expensive option cut lace, sew scalloped edging back on. Second much more expensive option was to remove skirt and hem from the waist, not easy as there are 2 layers and a zipper. Daughter chose the less expensive option. When we picked up the dress Lilianne had made the executive decision to hem from the waist as she felt that cutting the lace would interrupt the pattern too much. We were not charged for the upgrade. Other local seamstress suggested my daughter wear higher heels. No way we could add another 4 inches to her already high heels. read more

I was under a very tight timeline from the purchase of my dress to my wedding date (approximately 3 weeks). I read the reviews on yelp and went to Lilianne's. She and her team are fabulous at what they do. I picked up my wedding dress yesterday thinking everything was fine. When I got home I realized it was still a little big in the waist. I went back today and they fixed everything up for me and my dress is now a perfect fit. I am beyond pleased with the service I received there and they never once made me feel bad for bringing the dress back which I truly appreciate. If you need alterations in Vancouver your first stop should always be Lilianne's! Also to note she was significantly cheaper than the quote I received from a large bridal outlet. After seeing a bride cry during her alterations appointment at bello wedding, I knew I had to find somewhere else to get my wedding dress altered. I read many reviews on yelp of many alteration tailors but upon stumbling across Lilianne's and calling her to get a quote I felt she was sincere and helpful. She gave me a general idea of what it would cost and the time it would take for her to complete over the phone and I was convinced enough to go see her with my dress. Her location could be easily missed amongst the row of "outdoorsy stores" along the Broadway corridor, and it's not really like the prettied up bridal stores you see in New Westminster, however the attention to detail, courtesy, genuine care and professionalism that Lilianne provides is undeniably top notch. My dress wasn't complex, she knew exactly the alterations that were needed (shortening the dress, adding a bustle, sewing in bra cups and even fixing a tear caused by the other wedding store who left a pin in my dress). She gave me a price for the work, setup my next fitting appointment and had it done on time. She is fair in what she charges, and the quality in the sewing job was to perfection. Amazing service. Lilianne is really nice and attentive. Her attention to detail is impeccable and her pricing is reasonable given how much work she did for me. She hemmed 9 layers of tulle and other skirt materials! Added three bustles, adjusted the size of the dress (it was too small so she let go about two inches of the top). She also adjusted my veil. Lilianne took my very unique, albeit fragile, 1950's vintage drop-waist dress and had it fitting perfectly within less than a week. (Unfortunately(?), I lost an inch or so a couple weeks later for my actual wedding and the dress was a little too loose around the waist, which is no fault of Lilianne's.) I was so pleased with her amazing turnaround rate and her very reasonable pricing that we also put my mom's dresses, my grandmother's gown, my reception dress and my brother's suit into her very capable hands. Since then I've been singing Lilianne's praises and passing out her business cards as if they're some sort of trade secret. She's definitely a gem in the Vancouver wedding industry-- would not hesitate to recommend her over and over again! P.S. But in true Asian business fashion, she takes cash only, folks! Lilianne's Bridal gets 5 stars from me, not for the store's decor or broad inventory, but because the owner is fantastic to deal with. She is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, offers fair prices on gown alterations and is willing to go out of her way to order inventory of a particular item if she doesn't have it in stock. This store is not swank inside or out; I've probably driven by it a million times and never noticed it before. I'm writing this post to help other brides save A LOT of money and to reassure them that this little Vietnamese woman is someone you should consider as an alternative to pricy gown shops for alterations. I myself was in a hurry to get a gown altered and paid an outrageous amount of money at a gown shop to have the alterations completed on time. A week later, I discovered this little gem of a shop. If I had only found her sooner....I'm still kicking myself. I did not have a chance to get my dress altered here but I definitely would consider coming back in the future. Her prices are less than half of what your standard bridal shop charges, so give her a try! She is altering a veil for me for $10 though -- I pick it up today. read more

Lilianne is one of a kind! She is fun, very honest, and her work is top notch! No need to pay for an appt fee, but you do have to book her for an appt. She will write out a detailed quote for you. I took my reception dress to her first to see what kind of job she can do, and she did not disappoint. When I took my wedding dress in, she was able to take a size 0 dress and change it to a size 00, take in all the layers, add bustles, shorten the straps...all for $400. I thought it would be more as my dress had many layers but she was transparent with her work. My bridesmaids also got their dresses fixed here and they were very happy with their dresses as well. I had two dresses for my wedding for Lilianne to alter. About 6 weeks before the big day I call and she tells me I can come in the next weekend. It's a quaint little unit on the 2nd floor, no frills but boy does she know her stuff - starting off in tailoring and then transitioning to fashion design and working with many local fashion designers. She was very thorough checking the pins and lengths etc, and in two weeks my dresses were ready. Upon the final fitting one of my dresses was too tight at the hips, so while I was trying on my other dress she took it to the back opened it up and fixed it so I didn't need to come back again. I highly recommend Lilianne for your alteration needs, as she's super knowledgeable and patient as I wasn't really sure what I needed or wanted done. Lilianne was recommended to me by another bride and she is great! She is reasonably priced and was able to tailor my dress in a very flattering way emphasizing my curves. My dress was completely french lace and she did a beautiful job altering it. She also hemmed my skirt for my second dress as well as surged my aisle runner. Super sweet lady! My friend brought in a lace shawl for alteration and after 3 months and 2 appt cancellations by the business, they still didn't have the alteration completed. It wasn't until the 3rd appt that we found out the alteration still hadn't been done but she'd whip it up in an hour . This is frustrating to say the least especially since it's not a complicated alteration. The only redeeming factor is that the owner is nice. I ordered the dress I'm wearing for my Vegas wedding a full size too large and didn't have time to send it back. I was pretty nervous about taking it in anywhere as it's lined and boned in the bodice (not to mention a ton of pin tucking on the skirt) so it's not the easiest job. I loved working with Lilianne. Such a lovely lady and very accommodating. I originally went just for my wedding gown alterations, she ended up altering my mother's tadashi shoji gown, my bridesmaids JS couture gown (entire thing was sequins) and my husband's Armani suit we ended up having to save from Harry Rosen's in Oakridge as they were ruining it! My gown was entirely venetian lace and she literally reconstructed the top adding 6 bones to make it fit me perfectly among many other alterations including a french bustle, my veil and shortening the length. Lilliane is very professional and excellent at making it things look good. She helped me by putting a hidden zipper in my wedding dress so I wouldn't have to be tied into and out of it, sewed down the pleats, cut off and finished the train, and sewed bands into it so I wouldn't have to wear a strapless bra. Her prices are fair, but not competitive.Some of the dresses I brought to her still ended up fitting too loose. For my wedding dress, she actually forgot to do a couple things on it even though she wrote it down and had charged me in full. Some of the things she said she would do, she didn't end up doing it the way we discussed. When I tried my dress on for the final fitting, the back was very wrinkled due to poor fitting, and she didn't even notice or think it was a problem. I think she overbooks herself because lately she seems to be overworked, doesn't deliver the work on time, and doesn't do a great job. I was also a bit pissed off that for my first fitting the next bride came in half an hour early, which basically overlapped with my entire booking. Her father, fiance, and friends were all sitting in the fitting area (which is already small enough on it's own), and I felt very awkward and rushed. In the end, I decided to bring my dress to another seamstress who seemed a bit more knowledgeable and trustworthy. read more
