I went in to speak to Sherry a month or so ago about what I thought would be a unique and perhaps unrealistic request. Turns out, with Sherry vision, skills and determination, it was very much possible. Sherry was able to alter a wet suit to make it more adaptable and easier to use for me. This is no small feat as the material of a wet suit is difficult to work with and what I needed her to do was not a common request. Sherry was able to create and easy access pouch that would allow me easy access to my ostomy. This was pivotal as I was about to run my third consecutive Worlds Toughest Mudder, a 24 hour obstacle race. Being able to quickly access my ostomy whilst staying warm was essential to my performance during this grueling race. I cannot thank Sherry enough for her hard work, vision and ability. I was recently in a wedding and when I received my bridesmaid dress from the store, I tried it on at home and was devastated. It looked like I was wearing a potato sack. Sherry took one look at the dress and knew exactly what to do, by the time she finished with the dress it looked fantastic on me. I received tons of compliments at the wedding on how nice my dress fit and compared to the other bridesmaid dresses, no one could tell mine had been altered, it just looked like it fit me nicely. Fantastic Alterations! I had previously been using another seamstress and had experienced some problems and a friend recommended Sateen. I was so impressed with the workmanship and attention to detail. and have used Sherry ever since. Not only has she repeatedly done a great job on all my alterations but she also took 2 dresses that I was no longer wearing (but still loved the beautiful silk fabric) and made one into a cute top and the other a skirt, and now I wear them all the time. Can't say enough amazing things about Sateen!! To me, a tailor is someone that you search long and carefully for, and once you find them, you're a customer for life because you trust them implicitly. It took me years to find this person, but Sherry is the one. Not only is she a warm, hilarious person to be around, she's an absolute artist with her craft. Sherry is an excellent seamstress. I have been taking my clothes to her for almost a year now and she has altered at least 25 different items for me. From hemming to lowering waistlines and making flared jeans into skinny jeans, she does it all and she does it well. In addition to having an excellent eye for detail, she also knows what looks good. I had an incredible experience at Sateen. My little sister and I got our bridesmaids altered here (I live in New West and she lives downtown). My older sister suggested her once she got her straps altered for her wedding dress. Our alterations were perfect, but I just wanted my dress slightly tighter, and she did additional alterations free of charge. They are all SO KIND, I could not recommend Sateen more! Sherry is wonderful! She is not only an amazing person but she is an excellent seamstress. My wedding dress had a lot of complex lace and she made it look as if the dress was made for my body. She removed the top layer of lace, cut off some fabric from the inside and stitch the lace back on top while making sure the pattern had a continuous flow.
