A few times in the past two decades with a few friends who knew what they were doing. It was going to be 4 hours or so on the river. The weather was beautiful and it was so wonderful to soak in all the greens surrounding us. Quite a few herons, osprey, and some kind of warbler. Very nice distance to drive from Gainesville and everyone in there kayak trip today was from Gainesville and they were all very nice. The drive to kayak destination and back in itself was a nice trip with change of scenery and getting out of town on a weekend to avoid the hussles and bussles of every weekend stuff with groceries and errands. Some people saw some alligators and were trying to point them out hiding but we didn't see any on the same trip! We are told that they don't bother people much in general:) When I expreeesed the concern about not being able to keep up with all other kayakers, my husband said that he would leave me behind and if an alligator has not gotten to me on the way back, he will bring me back home if I fall behind. Yes, he is the perfect picture of support!!!! Lars is very laid back and knowledgeable and easy to talk to and we learned a lot during this trip and would love to come back for more. I was at this awesome little shop this last Saturday, 4/22- fantastic inventory for a smaller shop. There are a few shops in the area with knife selection but they're utterly inferior (but fun to check out) compared to this shop. The one thing that showed me that this shop even existed was the awesome sign that says something along the lines of, "manly toys, manly hobbies"- I had to drop in to see if the sign lived up to its claim. As I've said, I was very impressed with the offerings they've got at this shop. Wasn't just that though- both of the employees on shift were absolutely top-notch. One of them was working on a tool or busy with something iirc but when I walked by him he greeted me and told me to please let him know if there's anything he can help me with. A few minutes later I took him up on it and asked if I could take a closer look at a nice camo para 2 I had my eye on. He dropped what he was doing and said, "oh absolutely brother, no trouble at all". Love the attitude. We chatted for a good 5-10 min, the guy is super knowledgeable.. steels/general metallurgy, guns, actions, history, etc.- the guy knew darn near everything. I forgot to ask his name but he's the guy who had a grandpa who worked on design for one of the big firearm manufacturers back in the day. I had just finished eating a big meal so I was a little sleepy- wish I remembered which manufacturer as that would help identify the guy (he and I were looking at one of the bright yellow serrated H2 knives that had a depressed glass-breaker at the butt of the knife's handle- we were both confused as neither of us had ever seen that mechanism in a knife before. It pops out when you squeeze the handle with the blade closed). He was great- best interaction I've had with an employee/salesperson in a good while- he definitely belongs in sales/customer service as he was warm, welcoming, very knowledgeable, conversational, etc. I genuinely enjoyed conversing with him and will definitely be back to this shop primarily because of him (it's hard to find good help nowadays- someone who actually cares about something other than tiktok, especially in the younger generations... I should know as I'm a part of those younger gens) but also because of the solid product selection. Anyway, there was a skinnier gentleman working behind the counter as well- he was great and very helpful. TL;DR : Come visit this shop- I promise you will absolutely not regret it! Great selection (Spyderco, Benchmade, Kershaw, Microtech, CRKT, etc), great staff, and solid location. I'll be back very soon! The only thing I'd like to see different is for them to start carrying Zero Tolerance. They're absolutely fantastic knives, rock-solid and they use great steels.

In addition, the people who own The Wake Station also own Lake Area Water Sports: the latter company deals more in boats and the big-ticket item side of wakeboarding while The Wake Station side deals in wakeboards, boardshorts, clothing, life vests, sunscreen, stickers--the softgoods and cute stuff side of things. I think Lake Area Watersports has a warehouse/garage for the boats tucked away elsewhere in Melrose but if you drive up to the converted service station which now is The Wake Station, you're likely to see some pretty sick boats pulled up in the parking lot, too. Even though I said the store was "small", it certainly contains all you need for wakeboarding--from the boards to clothing by Quiksilver, Roxy, O'Neil, and Billabong to sunglasses by Spy Optics. I'm just getting into wakeboarding so I don't know as much about the brands of wake-specific stuff they carry, but it looked like a very good selection. We're lucky to have a store like this in Melrose close to the heart of local wakeboarding action, plus, they give a lot back to their sport insofar as sponsoring wakeboarding camps and contests for kids. We did a quick walk thru with a technician and found various issues. No appliances run for us. Upon delivery the unit was filthy and dark streaked whereas was promised to be washed. Inside also dirty. We paid to have it washed. We put out the slideouts and found electric outlets still not working, crooked barn doors, and other issues found at walk thru. We turned in THE A/C at thermostat and it did not come in. Called CWN.Jax and was told by the "service manager" he heard it run. Called Coleman/Mach the AC manufacturer and thru video link after removing bottom cover a tech said it could not have worked it was missing a harness. We called CWN.Jax and they sent a tech. He wired in a harness and the AC came on...we left and came back unit was 66° inside set at 74°. Called CWN.Jax and a tech came out, asked to borrow a screwdriver & flashlight . Said he was returning to CWN.Jax with his diagnosis. We called next day and could never get the service manager again. Asked should we get a lawyer (brand new camper) and CWNJ ax refused to talk to us after that and other repairs never fixed. Thankfully I contacted Forest River who sent a tech who determined the brand new thermostat was NOT brand new. We still have missing items and issues but are working with Forest River since Camping World N.Jax abandoned us after paying cash.
