Lightning auctions provides weekly local auctions, curating items from multiple estate sales or sellers. Items up for sale range from collectibles, to small appliances, art, serving ware, furniture, jewelry, and more. What I like about this auction is that you can preview what's for sale online on Thursday night, in-person on Fridays, and then the auction closes (soft close, so no last-minute sniping) on Sunday. Fast and straightforward, with the benefit of not having to rely on photos only, and no shipping fees since it's local. Condition of items does vary, so you need to review carefully before bidding (everything sold as-is), and check carefully when collecting your won items. I've seen broken things or things you'd find at a garage sale mixed with really expensive items. Items are laid out nicely in a spacious room, and staff are helpful if you have questions. Definitely something fun to check out but make sure to do your due diligence. Tip: closed M-W 12-12:30 for lunch

My sister recently introduced me to Thai auction house. They usually do one virtual auction a week starting Friday and ending Sunday. I've won the bud a couple times now and got a $10 snowboard and a $32 vintage telephone table (unbeknownst to me at the time the leg was broke so check your stuff before leaving the auction house!) There is also a 15% fee they add on and tax on top of the sale so keep that in mind when figuring out the final price. The process for pick up is easy, they will email you with your invoice on Monday and you just swing by the warehouse by Wed to pick it up. Even when there is a line, pickup goes pretty smooth. Good luck and don't outbid me! :)

I want to first start this review by writing that I've been a long time customer since they started…read morenear Grove street before they moved to the North Valley's area. However, today that changes. I won an item at the start of the Hawk fire before it was given it's official name. Vanzant told me to go and pick up my item; but I was in the evacuation zone and couldn't leave since I wouldn't be let back in, so I was unable to pick up my item. Plus on top of that I was dealing with a strain of Covid during the same week. Fast forward to when evacuations were finally lifted and I was able to go and pick up my item; however, I was told that they had already sold my item because I wasn't there to "pick it up in time". They knew I still lived out by where the Hawk fire was and knew that I was a loyal customer and they still didn't care. I was then told that I would have to pay a $25 dollar fee just to bid again. This is unacceptable and just outright unprofessional, I am blown away by the lack of care for your customers. From now on I will not be using your site ever again.

I tried to return, and apparently only Amie has the power. They give you an email, as the only way to contact her. I am still awaiting a response after several days, and several emails. My guess is that this is done to avoid doing the right thing by ignoring you. My advice is to avoid vanzant auctions altogether!

I did get a few cars here and out of that one was a not so good so I turned around and placed it back on the auction for a fee, I did learn to take my OBD2 tester with me to run the codes on the other two I got, truly a learning experience. I did hear about some bad deals made here but I can say I lucked out on those situations.

Then we pull out of the driveway and it wouldn't shift and wouldn't go faster than 20mph. This car was junk. I feel completely taken. I get it's an auction but my god this car belongs in a dumpster and instead it's sitting at a shop in Carson cause there is no way it would have made it home to reno. Do yourself a favor and keep it moving. I've bought cars at auctions in California and Oregon and even here in reno and have never bought such a pile. 1 star for being completely dishonest. Anyone with half a Brain would have gotten in that car and took it out of the driveway would have noticed something seriously wrong. *Update 11/19/17 After 2500 bucks to Christensen automotive in carson and another 800 bucks to replace the transmission the car still won't pass smog and I'm told the cat is bad and needs replaced.. car still doesn't run.. Been sitting in my drive way... stay away from these con artist! The cars here are not the deal your looking for.
