In this age of de-cluttering and downsizing there are many options for getting rid of "stuff." If you have lots of patience and need every penny you can scrape together, then auction houses and consignment stores are a good alternative to selling online. I've sold thru 2 different ones and I have no real complaints. I wish Sammy B's hadn't moved to Fallon. I'm finding it hard to justify the drive. Unfortunately not all my items sold. With the fee for unsold items, the commission fee and the other fee I barely made enough to cover the cost of gas to drive there. The other thing to note is it's a good idea to keep calling to make sure they mail your check. read more

I have been buying here for a few years. The online auction itself is done by another company. But when you go to pick stuff up the older woman ignores you like you aren't standing right there a few feet from her and you have to go get her to help you. Then the place is so unorganized sometimes it takes forever for them to find your stuff. And you would think they could pick up a broom and sweep or pick up all the paper and stuff all over the floor. read more

I am not sure of the negative reviews for Sammy's place. I have been a Proxibidder since over 5 yrs now. Weathervane had always delivered what I needed and trust me I never called or got a call from them. My recent shippings for Glass Art was broken and they had asked me to send the pictures of Damage and shipping label and picture of the box, still need to see how I can get refunded as Art with broken glass gets scraped and the Art is of no value and the shipping cost is an overburden and are ridiculous by Fedex. so I will still save my extra star to see the response rate. But as far as the communication, I was able to chat with them live on Proxibid and they are pretty responsive. ONE Problem, they have good stuff and my wife is angry at me to spend most of my money at one place...... hmmm, probably i might be able to sell them one day to make more money :) But these guys are good as per my experience till date, But will give another review after my experience on how they handle my case with shipping mishaps. Still am a Fan for now and give a 4**** as the one depends on how they can get me refunds and as promised will write another review. read more

This aution place is something you don't want to deal with Samantha is a problem. If there isn't a situation she will make one. If you deal with her she will make sure she has people around as she tells me witnesses. Who even thinks of the legal aspect of a bad situation unless your protecting yourself? I don't want to get into detail with the way she sucks the energy out of you with constantly having to battle over pennies. It matters to me that if your thinking of selling your things and looking for a business person that your going to intrust with your items and not question what's really going on. If you do it's regular practice for these folks to tell you your things are garbage and she will look you straight in the eye and lie. It's she will say she has been doing this for a long time and has dealt with difficult ones like yourself. I eagerly advise you to read all the yelp and any other site for what they have to say about this shady buisness. There are places that will show the price they get for your item this place refuses to show you because they have people that call in and bid and you don't see it also they will take MO ey outside of the auction from others even though it's been bid on. Basicly they are a headache I say this not angry but to alert anyone think about it. Is it worth it to deal with someone that has a bad reputation? read more

This was my first time using this company. Item was as described. Turn around was very quick. No problems.

I bid on 3 items, all were designer purses. I came back later and all 3 sold to an "onsite" bidder. I then was shocked to see that my bids were not even there. Like I never even bid on them! I was furious because the amount was the same as mine! These people are crooks and I think after reading the other reviews, that scatterbrain woman wanted those handbags and just deleted my bids. I think the place is great! I have been buying several items each week at the Friday Night Auction. Some I keep, some I sell on craigslist and ebay, and some I give as gifts. Its nice because I can find AMAZING gifts that just cannot be located anywhere else. I got my dad a beer wall mirror sign that he owned 40 YEARS AGO! I thought he was going to cry--it really pleased him and reminded him of the "old days". Everyone there has made me feel welcome and like part of the group. I've tried three times for items on weathervane auction first time I bid online was for a bass guitar and only showed the front They didn't show the back so when I got there I had to pay for the item 1st I paid for my item they brought it to me only after I paid and the whole back of the bass guitar was nothing but a big hole somebody had ripped out the electronics but they didn't show that online. That was number one. Number two I bid on a pack of CDs all wrapped up in plastic nice and tight so you couldn't get into them ,had to pay form first got out my car went home open them up there were either no CDs in the cases or the CDs were the wrong ones so they again ripped me off wrapping them up so I could not check before paying. The third time I dealt with weathervane auction I purchased are several items one being a binder full of Barbie trading cards went to pay for the item paid for it they went to look forward couldn't find it then they have the balls to tell me they sent it and mailed it off to the wrong person and that they were going to get a hold of that person to have them send them back well I went back a week later still nothing then they came up with the story well they were going to send them to me from their place another week later I go back and still nothing they were going to contact the person again they said. The fourth week I went back they would not even refund or nor offered to refund me my money. Now they've been gone out of the Sparks area for numerous months today I hope I don't my checking account and it appears they've taken approximately $50 out of my checking account that I did not give them authorization to do I have not been on anything online or in person since they moved to Fallon so beware of these thieves there are thieves and they rip you off and then they go into your checking account without your authorization and take money out of your account I will be pressing charges on them. read more

We are totally addicted-- so many cool things and prices are crazy good. Blair,one of the auctioneers, is so dang good at getting the "job done" it is crazy. So much fun. Addicting! This person has the worst customer relations skills I have ever seen, and I've been doing this for almost 20 years. She's so unorganized it's ridiculous, what a nightmare trying to deal with her. I won an auction item online and was never sent an invoice (any professional auction house sends out invoices for items won). I had to contact them days later to find out if I won, since I saw a charge on my card I figured I must have won something. She couldn't find the invoice, couldn't tell me what I'd won, said I didn't receive an invoice because of a computer glitch which had made it magically disappear so I had to walk her through what I'd bid on, etc, she was clueless. Then the real fun began, after I had paid (within 3 days of close of sale, after I initiated contact), I talked to her about shipping. She said it would go out Thursday or Friday, and it didn't. I was watching for the shipping charge to show up on my account and it never did. I had to call her on Monday to figure out what was going on (she didn't call me once, I called her every time trying to figure out what was going on). She had all kinds of excuses until I said I was done and was contacting my credit card company to refund the transaction and hung up on her. Then she quickly puts another charge on my card for shipping but doesn't ship for an additional 4 days! Mind you, this is a week and a half since I had paid before it got shipped. I can't see how someone can be as borderline shady as this and stay in business. Two weeks later the shipment has finally gone out, and I won't get my items for another week, three weeks after the auction! This person has no business dealing with the public, she's got a chip on her shoulder a mile wide and the crappiest, most juvenile attitude I've ever seen on an auctioneer. Unreliable, unprofessional, rude, and not very intelligent. I seriously thought she was an 80 year old running a business out of her house, she's so slow on the uptake, confused and scattered. Avoid this place like the plaque, Lightning auctions is the way to go in Nevada, Sammy is a joke. Fool me once... I wouldn't do business with them again if my life depended on it! read more

I have participated in 2 auctions at Sammy B's. Both times I bid online because I was unable to be there for the live auction. Both times my items just HAPPENED to go for my highest bid. I believe the auctioneer said "I have a bid of $15, would anyone like to go higher? No, ok $15 is it!" Which is NOT how an absentee auction is suppsoed to work. If that wasn't bad enough, I "won" the second item on May 25th (I am writing this review June 13th) and I have yet to receive it. Why? Because they auction took place in Carson and my item is "one of three" that they "forgot" in Carson. Of course they failed to mention that little tid bit to me until after I had already paid for it! I have called multiple times and I am always told they don't know when they will be able to go get it. Considering there is an auction in Carson this week, I had better receive my item not long after! I will not be participating in another auction at Sammy B's again. I wish I never been in this auction house. It shouldn't even be open for business anymore for they are the rudest and most ridiculous people anyone could ever deal with. Judgmental and straight up, I don't know how Sam even was allowed to open a business. They just seem to allow anyone to run a business now days. If you want to win an item....don't bid online. I can't tell you how many times I won the online auction only to have the item go to someone else bidding onsite or by proxi. I'm new to auction bidding so it is possible I'm doing something wrong with Sammy. I guess I need to be onsite to steal items from people bidding online. Take your time and money and bid on a true online auction at Lightning Auctions. If Sammy B ever fixes this I'll be back. read more
