Buyer beware..... its hit or miss if the description is accurate. I recently purchased an item that stated as new, box damage. However the item was completely unusable. I tried to return, and apparently only Amie has the power. They give you an email, as the only way to contact her. I am still awaiting a response after several days, and several emails. My guess is that this is done to avoid doing the right thing by ignoring you. My advice is to avoid vanzant auctions altogether! ​ read more

In January I won an inflatable hot tub, it was listed as "new"! Due to the fact my husband was recovering from a heart attack we did not try and put it up till March. When we opened the plastic bag the tub was in and took it out we found it was moldy and mildewed. It obviously was not "new" as listed by VanZant. When I contacted Aime, the owner it did take 3 emails before she responded. She saw the pictures I took of the tub and said she would issue a refund but she was going to talk to her warehouse people and see if they opened it. She texted me back saying they told her they did look at it and it was new. So no refund would be issued. I text her back and told her there is no way they looked at the tub or took it out of the plastic bag it was in or they would have seen the condition it was in. She has yet to respond to me. I also told her I would be happy to bring it to her so she could see for herself what the condition the tub was in. She didn't take me up on that either. Just a heads up, not to deal with these people, they could care less about their customers or the reputation of the company. Needless to say I will never do business with them again!! read more

Don't expect anything to be complete or functional so if you want to take a chance bid accordingly. Ownership are best described as not helpful but can be much more unpleasant if you have any sort of request or complaint. Well to start off the auction was going great and I was winning a lot of stuff I wanted but the last few minutes of the auction things got crazy all my bids got maxed out and I still won them but at my highest bid for most of them. Now I find it really hard to believe that no one bid on the busted bathtub that needs repairs , that are not easy, but it was a thousand dollar bathtub and I was winning it for the starting bid of 5 bucks until the last 5 minutes of the auction then I was mysteriously bid against and they stopped right below my max bid on almost 90% of my items . So I would love to see the actual bids to see if they are from a real buyer or as I suspect the bids came from the accounts set up by the owners to maximize there profits. I would like someone to look into the bidding on this company because ive been bidding on auctions for 20 plus years and this definitely was not being bid on correctly I would bet my life on it. They should loose there auction license for the bidding fraud and for the bladent use of new pictures and vague descriptions of the auction items done purposely so the items will get bid on then of course the owners come at the buyers berating them with names and threats and make it hard to deal with them in the hopes that at least half will just shut up and take the crap they just bought and go away not wanting to deal with them. This is definitely a scam auction ran by dishonest owners. The auction site is pretty nice, that's if you win. I like the fact is only for people that can pick up only in Stead/Reno area. They do not ship. Another tip Pay in Cash - Cash is KING! All the items I've won were almost all new with tags. The electric items such as air fryers were all in working order and no missing items. The description was spot on. I've purchased rugs, carpets, mats, dog items, etc. They are worked out great. Auctions start on Friday and end Sunday evening. You can pick up the winning items on Monday thru Wednesday. Very simply and easy process. I think if you purchase large and heavy items you should bring some help. I don't believe the staff there will offer assistance. read more

Have purchased several very good large appliances from them, and were very good deals, working order all was stated, and no deceit, or surprises, from Samsung new (scratch & dent) dryer to 2 door 3 drawer french LG huge new fridge, all good. My reason for star rating is only due to the language and treatment from owner. I was banned completely from purchasing at this auction, because i mentioned a different idea giving us more options for pick up and pick up times, etc. and when i did,,, wow, i got slammed with a fast talking , rude , and outraged owner,, that just started in on me, & i just sat speachless , on phone and listened,,,,,to this without a word in response, and then she ended with , "now , you are banned!" This same thing happened to another good friend of mine,, a law enforcements wife very community envolved lady, found out, she went through the same thing with this gal. I was directed to Vanzant Auctions by a family member as they have had great experiences and found some awesome deals. I was unfortunately quite disappointed with my experience. READ THE DESCRIPTIONS FOR EACH ITEM! My mistake - They have multiple of the same items for sale listed on their website, however, many of them contain a lot of similar wording so I assumed they were all the same. Not the case at all. You have to read absolutely every detail or you will be disappointed. Also be aware of the fact that the descriptions may not be entirely accurate. One of the items I purchased was a pack of Anchor jars (three different sizes); it stated that the small jar was missing, that's fine - I didn't need it anyway. But, when I got home, it was the large jar that was missing which was the one I was most excited about. Another item I purchased was a Dyson Vacuum with "signs of use." How about completely used and disgusting and you'll need to clean all of the hair out of the pieces? I was shocked at how dirty/used it was. I find it unfortunate that they use stock photos for items as you truly have no idea what you're getting until you have it in your hands and they have a very very strict return policy (one item a year...). First off the owner is awful to deal with and acts super trashy if you question anything she says. I bought many, many things here and it used to be ok. ($1000's of dollars). This last year it has gone way downhill. I bought an item that was listed incorrectly as a different model so I returned it. You have to get approval from the owner by email only. It takes many weeks and a rude reply to get that accomplished. I purchased more items a few weeks later and one of them was listed as new and tested. It was very used and broken. The owner would not email me back about it so I showed up at the business and finally was talked to. She said they sometimes make little mistakes and you just have to deal with it. I told her a wrong color or something is a small mistake, saying something was new when it doesn't even work and was abused to hell is another. The item was $300. She told me to keep it and man up (what?) or she'd give my money back but didn't want my business any more since I'm so picky on the items I buy. They will list stuff wrong then try to bully you into keeping it by saying oops, you're a jerk if you want exactly what we said it was. Disgusting owner. Stay away. Funny part was as this was happening I had 2 other people there that said they just experienced the same thing, one said he just accepted it since it was a cheap item and Amy threatened to ban him, the other said he wouldn't be back again. read more

If I could, I would give zero stars. Deplorable business model, rude-trashy owner and shady staff (except for Ruby), filthy warehouse, appalling customer service, and difficult business hours. The deals are great if the product isn't heavily damaged, and the poorly written descriptions are often inaccurate. (We've had several items that were completely unusable, as the damage was beyond repair and the description was incorrect.) Lack of adherence to government mandates during a global pandemic. I'd question their positive ratings, as they often offer prizes and discounts for reviews, which shows the owner's lack of integrity. The location is in Stead, which is nearly one-hour round trip from most Reno and Sparks suburbs. Pickup is only Monday-Wednesday during regular business hours. If they are too busy at pickup, they will turn you away (especially a half hour before closing.) Warning, if you miss your pickup, you will be charged and banned. I have been utilizing Vanzant Auctions, almost a year. The starting bids are always super low. Lots of items each week. The site/app, there's typically some discrepancies with images or such with the items. I would prefer a little more useful information, in the description of the items; BUT that lack of info, sometime plays into keeping items cheaper. Some of the other bidders won't look into finding info for the items. If the items has that info, could drive prices up. That thing that I am always impressed with; the staff is always cheerful, welcoming, a positive disposition. I have picked up my winnings with it snowing severely, such intense winds, and most recently blazing heat... garage door up, they are there to help get you your items, with a genuine smile and friendly "hello". I have not experienced one bitchy person, or anyone who just doesn't want to be there. It's so refreshing, to experience that. THANK YOU, for that! My neighbor introduced me to VanzantAuctions and I am glad he did! First thing is the app, many times you run into apps that are slow or laggy, but they have invested in a strong platform to make the auction experience great. Second, which could be first, the deals! I had been thinking about buying a new fridge, but the prices are not fun to look at. So when I my friend told me about VanzantAuctions, I went on that night and bid on a fridge. A few days later, I picked it up and it has been great! It was just as they described. This was the first of many purchases! Third, the staff is awesome and that includes Amie the owner. The staff are friendly, fast, and kind. Amie is passionate, so much so that she put the family name on the business and stands behind it day in and day out. Expert tips: Register for each auction individually. Look through the whole catalogue, you never know what you might find. Read the description, they are honest and accurate. Items are often mislabeled, completely different than what's in the picture, says they work and they don't, etc. You cannot take a bid back if you change your mind, and trying to return or refuse an item once you see it and it's not what you bid on in the first place. I've watched this business grow over the last 6 or so years. Amazingly so! The staff always tries their best to make sure everything is accurate. I can't imagine doing their job. Sometimes things happen, but they are quick to rectify any issues. I'm looking at some of these reviews and I'm actually shocked by the 1 stars. Things were very difficult during Covid, plus moving the warehouse, short staffed etc. I'm sure they are still trying their best to work through issues. I'm looking at some of these 1 star posts, and really? I've never know Amie to ban someone for trying to get something corrected. The staff has to figure out who is at fault. If it's them, they take ownership of the problem. If it's you, they let you know there's no fix. Simply take screenshots of your items and descriptions. I've never had a problem getting issues resolved. Sometimes it was my fault, sometimes it was theirs. Maybe Amie can do an online survey to address previous issues? She's always looking for ways to improve the business. read more

Sometimes you expect something fair. Like going to a store front restaurant and the experience you get is a store front experience. But, when advertisement states that it's something and you pay your money and realize that it's something else, that's no longer a fair transaction. Unfortunately, I've had that experience at Vanzant auctions twice and that's all it takes to convince me that there are other businesses that don't mis-represent. Here's the reason why I'm not happy. 1. My most recent purchase was a garbage disposal. The listing shows it as new but could not test it. No problem, if it's new, I could play around with it and hope that it will work. When I started to look at it, it was not new. It wasn't even put back into the box clean. The grinding chamber had old disgusting food in it. Which was easily identified through the drain outlet and through the top of the disposal unit. The electric wires were obviously wired, at least once. They were not straight as they would be in a new package. The reset button was broken off inside the disposal. Upon closer inspection, it was shattered and could not be repaired. 2. My second item was a tool deal. There were 3 ratchets. According to the auction, the three items were new. The photo was difficult to see details but I could discern that there were two 3/8" and one 1/2" ratchet. The 1/2" may have been new but the two 3/8" ratchets were banged up and rusted. This wasn't a huge deal breaker since the two 3/8" ratchets were Huskey and came with a lifetime warranty. I just needed to exchange them at a Home Depot. But, the point here was I purchased something from a business that stated it was something when it was clearly not. 3. My last item that was misrepresented was a 3/4" sprinkler valve. The description stated it was used but I picked it up at a good price and the photo of the unit showed that it came with the much needed solenoid. Guess what? It didn't come with the solenoid. The description stated "Previously Owned, Like new, signs of use" But, when the solenoid is gone, that's not a sign of use. That's a sign that someone took a piece off and put it back in the box! For these reasons, I don't want to gamble with my hard earned money. Some things were a great bargain. I bought a weed eater and it worked great, but it wasn't mis-represented either! In fact, the description stated heavy use but was tested and it came with the accessories that it was stated to have in the description. The service and the people that work there are A1. From the person who greets me by name to the person that brings the items up front. I couldn't ask for better service. But, they do need to have better inspection of the items. AWFUL. STAY AWAY from this place. Spend your money elsewhere. First of all, why is there no negative or zero stars on Yelp for places like this auction house. My husband and I and multiple people we know have purchased items from this place, this ended today. Purchased a garage cabinet labeled by this auction place as "NEW IN BOX". Hug lie! As soon as I opened the box when I got home, I could immediately tell that there was a part missing. After going through the entire contents, I realized that there were 3 parts/sides of the cabinets missing. I drove back to to return the item and was told that I needed to email Amee to get a return authorization first and that this was the policy. I asked them to show me where this return policy is anywhere on their website, nobody can show it to me. This so called policy in nowhere on their website or the confirmation of purchase email sent. I asked to speak to a manager and 2 women came up, never introduced themselves. I told them the issue with the purchase and the "return policy" and asked if we can just do a return now since I just drove 10 miles to come back, and that my time is also limited. The heaver set women gave me such a dumb answer that she drives all the way from Fernley! Unbelievable, why would she even compare her drive to work to mine?! I reiterated which parts were missing (there were also no assembly instructions so I looked it up) and then the same heavy set woman said that "mistakes happen", no apologies whatsoever. Why is the business not taking responsibility of the mistake and a simple " sorry" would have been nice. She then walks away and says that she was going to look it up and see which parts were missing, meanwhile I've told her that I have the manufacturer's website opened to the specific product on my phone. After a few minutes, she hands me a phone saying that Amee the owner wants to talk to me. I get on the phone and was rudely told by this business owner that they will process my return and will have to block me because things are not working out! Wow really, this is how a business owner talks to customers? I said that that was absolutely fine and will also tell people not to patronize this business, which I've already planned on not doing business with them ever! The same rude Fernley woman who earlier told me that there was no way for their system to process a return, processed my return, caught her in a lie! This business in unethical, unprofessional, rude owner and staff (guess they learned from their boss). Hard to believe that this Amee person claims to be a proud member of the Reno Christian Fellowship. They lie on their product description and they make it difficult to return items so you just get frustrated and just keep the item. They have a total lack of respect or care for their customers. Customer service is non existent here. Save your money and stay away from aggravation. Instead do business with other local auction sites. Public Auctions on 6th St have very nice staff and they even load up the vehicle for you. read more

When I posted a review on that other site, saying we tried them because of poor service at Vanzant, the owner of Vanzant tracked us down, not apologizing or trying to make things right, but being mean and spiteful. I was just verbally abused and called names by AMY the owner. The do not answer phones and you are instructed to text or email. We recently had a major storm and I was unable to pick up on their assigned days of MTW.I texted as instructed saying my wife had phoned in a paid for the item and did I need to pick up the following week. In actuality my wife had paid the bill with their online system. The owner took such offence that I said she paid by phone she felt it necessary to start calling me a liar and several other names in a nonsensical rant. She even called my wife and called me a douche in the message she left to her. She turned a simple pickup question in to a demeaning hateful rant directed at me. In addition to everything else I had to take a pet to the emergency clinic ad because I did not respond to a text for 1 hour she decided it was fie to call me even more names. Dealing with the Owner was an unbelievable experience in all ther bad ways. All she did was lose a customer and I am letting everyone know to stay away from them. I am including the text chain in this review and I hope it is left in. It goes against the name calling policy, but it is the owner calling me names and the public deserves to know just how hateful and wrong Vanzant Auctions are. I would no longer recommend VanZant Auctions, based on the recent experience my family had with the owner and her staff. Their behavior was not only highly unprofessional, but demonstrated a total lack of care or respect for their customers. I have been a customer of VanZant from the time she first opened her business. I recently I bought some small toy items and a mini-Fridge. There was confusion on our part about the size of the fridge as The mini-Fridge was designed like a tiny table top size fridge I purchased for a relative last year. The size was not stated in the listing and I didn't realize this was much larger than the one I purchased before. Because of my work, I asked a family member to pick up my items. I had missed the pick up day for my auction and had made arrangements with the owner to pick them up late. When my relative arrived, she said the staff was very rude about the items being picked up late. She explained arrangements had been made with the owner. They showed her the fridge which was much larger than we expected and the staff told her it was her responsibility to load the fridge in our van. Well, this is a 68 yo small woman. She said she was stressed by the staff's attitude so she took the fridge out on the dolly to load it alone. There was no parking available so she had to park on the side. During the process of trying to lift the fridge, she fell and injured her knee. She said she was laying outside, crying and screaming in pain while the staff watched her. She struggled to stand and the staff offered her no assistance. She managed to stand on her own and get the item loaded, all the while the Van Zant staff stood by offering no aide. When our family member arrived home, she was unable to walk and was in severe pain. Later it was determined she probably tore her meniscus. She's now in a brace and may need surgery on her knee. I was angry that the staff left an elderly woman laying on the ground and offered no help nor asked if she needed medical attention. I text Ms. VanZant to inform her of her staff's behavior and instead of showing any concern or empathy for an injured customer, Ms. VanZant went off on a rant, stating I needed to drop the victim mentality and went off saying I had no idea what her staff went through to put on the auction. She then demanded that I apologize or she would cut me off as a customer. I had done nothing except inform a business owner of poor performance of her staff and I had no intention to apologize. I had simply and respectfully voiced a complaint of which any professional business owner would have discussed with the customer, but Ms. VanZant's reaction was to rant and attack and threaten to cut off my auction privileges after years of being a loyal customer. Well, according to other reviews, this is a pattern that she kicks people out if they ever complain or have a problem. So be it. I don't need to purchase items from VanZant and after this experience would never want to shop there again. And by the way, the mini fridge was listed as new having a damaged box only but actually had two corners dented badly which was not listed on the posting. I wasn't going to set foot in that business again so we just kept the damaged mini fridge. So beware. Take pictures of the postings and check your items when you pick them up. Since then, I went to another auction in town where the staff were very polite and they bring your items to the car and load them for you. read more

To put it bluntly, buyer beware. First off, realize what you are buying. Most of what they are auctioning has been returned to one of the listed stores and as such it didn't work right or was damaged. This is generally not disclosed and that may be intentional or unintentional. Descriptions are vague and the one or two pictures are generally not helpful at all. They use the same software as Lightning Auctions so they have the capability to provide more accurate photos if they chose but that would be an additional cost they are unwilling to bear. You have to imagine that they buy these items as a pallet of goods that they then intend to resell for the greatest profit. Somebody looks at the item briefly, composes one of their repetitive descriptions, and moves on to the next. Accuracy and thoroughness is definitely not a priority. Saying something has been "successfully power tested" means nothing more than they plugged it in, flipped the power switch, and it made noise. It doesn't tell you much. For example: a vacuum that did turn on but had a broken clip and as such no suction; a sump pump that turned on when plugged in but should only have turned on when the float was triggered and as such was useless. "Signs of use" can mean anything. Sometimes they put additional details but you can't verify any of what they say until you get it home and test it. They have you pay for the item before even seeing it and when they bring it out it is like the lottery, sometimes you are pleased but more than often there are issues. The staff at the front will only accept returns if $10 or less - which is next to none of the auctions. Anything over $10 you have to deal with the owner by email and I will let the other reviews speak to what a nightmare that is. When I inquired about returning an item I discovered had been manufactured 6 years earlier and used extensively she wanted me to email Costco telling them their return policy was unacceptable (and send her a copy) and write a positive review on Google (and send her a copy) before she would authorize the return. She also wanted an apology for emailing her on a weekend and disturbing her. It was hilarious. Needless to say, the negative reviews are likely spot-on. On the positive side, well there is not much. Online auctions can be entertaining. You may get something that works out of the box but don't count on it. Bid on things that really can't be damaged that easily ... like shovels. Electronic items are probably not a good idea. If the bid is more than 25% of retail you are probably paying too much. Remember that the buyer's premium and tax will add another 25% of whatever you bid. As I said at the start, buyer beware - these people are certainly not looking out for you. "Cash is king" and once they have your cash they are king and it is probably not worth your time trying to get it back if you are not pleased. read more

I used to love going to this auction place but since they've been putting not on starting bids but outrageous starting bids on 85 % of their items I have completely stopped shopping with them, if I wanted to buy at almost new prices I'll go straight to store. This Auction house use to be Great, we started going there before they were even on line, Now I wouldn't recommend them to ANYONE, some of the employees are okay but Amie the owner has really changed over the years and her Husband is Rude and disrespectful to the customers. If an item was wrong or not all there even after they check it per their website and you wish to return it, well that's when you get kicked off the Auction. Reno Auction is way better you are able to return item's that are broken or damaged or missing parts Better all around. Public Auction Reno is the place to go, Vanzant is not about customer service that's for sure and they are Rude to their customers heard Amie yelling at a customer that was there to pick up an item she was screaming at her on loud speaker on one of the employees cell phone, the poor young girl was trying to tell her that she must have her confused with someone else because she had only bought there 2 times, but Amie was screaming at this girl and had her in tears, said she didn't want her business and to leave. Vanzant advertised through email to me, so I signed-up and bid on items. First items I won, I arranged for UPS pick-up and shipment to California. I asked Vanzant to place items in a box, and UPS will pick up; the items were delivered in the tattered boxes they were originally sold in, but I received them intact. Recently I bid on two small items, probably wouldn't fit in a shoebox, I sent them a copy of the UPS shipping label with the request to allow for UPS pickup. Amie lectured that they had done me a favor the last time when they let UPS pick up the items, but that I had exceeded their favor threshold! They charged me over $50, kept my stuff and I'm sure they auctioned it off! Why advertise to out-of-state visitors, if you can't be bothered to provide for shipping?? Other online auction sites allow mail/packaging firms to pick the items up and send them to the owners, but the troglodytic business practices of this company defile the very nature of customer service and cogent thinking. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. If you want to find Reno's trashiest people please go here. I was trying to do a favor for my mom and was unaware of the situation. The owner came out and yelled at my fiancé and I in front of everyone, cussing. When I asked her to not talk to me that way and to be professional she said "I don't give a f** about being professional." Never buy from this place. Then the coworker told me to get out the car so she could fight me. Absolutely disgusting people and horrible customer service. Never ever go here. Worst place in Reno. Also the stuff we bought was all broken. read more

This is an awesome auction house located in Reno. They try to have a valid description and current photo of auction item. The girls are always nice and pleasant to work with. I do agree the parking is an issue, but hey this is a drive up style pick up auction house! read more

I have been a customer of Vanzant auctions for 3 years. I have spent thousands of dollars with them. The staff is very friendly. My first bad experience was about 2 years ago, with the owners husband. He was very rude and obnoxious. So much so that I stopped buying anything or dealing with them for about 8 months. Then a friend got me to start using them again. Then on 8/24/21 I purchased over 800.00 of merchandise from them, one item was damaged pretty bad, the description said it had "minor dents" When I pointed this out to the person on staff she Immediately left to bring the owner Amie. Amie came to talk to me, from the very beginning she was very rude, and nasty. She said "they work very hard" and that was why they didn't mention the damage in the description. Instead of offering a refund, for the item she said "if I had any doubt on the condition of an item then don't bid" all of her rude comments were with a raised voice, very confrontational, almost yelling. I will not use them again. I have been buying from Reno public auction, for over a year now. They are a MUCH better choice. I have made hassle free returns with them. The owner is friendly and courteous, and they even load your things in your wytSez-fedsip-6kuscivehicle for you. I have blocked and deleted Vanzant, and I will never buy from them or recommend them to anyone again. read more
