All bids final so be informed on the policies. You can visit on Friday 10-5 to see the actual items you want to bid on, I would highly recommend this step so you are not disappointed when you collect the item(s). It will be your own fault if you don't do the proper research. As an example they have Hexclad cookware. Most of it is brand new but there are gently used products too. Their customer service to load the junk on your truck is great, but if you inform them of any problem with the crap you get, they could care less. Buyer beware. They sell many damaged and broken items. Sometimes they list the items after viewing hours so you have no way of checking the items condition in person before making a purchase. They will not tell you the item is damaged or broken in the listing description. They will not accept returns or give credits on damaged or broken items. I've bought many items from them in the last nine months. Most of the time things are correct. But when they are not, they will not do anything to fix the situation. I love a good deal but this place is awful. The auction listing stated I was buying a brake kit with brake pads, front rotors, and rear rotors. What I received was a box with only front rotors. HUGE difference. Now I have to take time out of my day on the one day a week that they might accept returns to try to convince them to give me store credit, which I am hesitant to even use because after reading all of these reviews I'm probably just going to end up with some other broken piece of garbage with half of the pieces missing. Seems apparent that the Bait and Switch is on at Reno Hometown Auction aka "Public Auction Reno". They advertised with photos a set of 3 swords, Model Name "Adust Carbon STEEL Roronoa Zoro Swords". After researching as to a value of these STEEL Swords, We decided to bid on them, After getting home we opened our packages of multiple items, we got to the swords which were in a torn up box, we discovered that we had been duped and Reno Hometown Auctions had given us 3 swords made of Bamboo and NOT STEEL as advertised and represented fully on our receipt as "Adust Carbon STEEL Roronoa Zoro Swords". When we brought them back in, there were a couple of girls sitting near a table, I asked for Savanah as she is the contact that said to come in and they would take care of it. Savanah was one of the two girls there. As I attempted to explain the problem, another girl that refused to identify herself started chiming in, and I asked if they knew that false advertising is illegal. They took this as a threat and tried to hand us a refund to which I made it clear that we wanted what was advertised, bid on and paid for. Savanah started to become verbal and told us to leave and never come back, We picked up our FAKE swords, refusing the credit and the other girl when asked what her name was told us to Fuck Off as my wife and I were walking out of the building. I have contacted HiBid Auctions (facilitators of the Auctions and advertising for multiple Auction sites across the country) and they apologized and said that some auctions get so large that as he put it miscommunication occurs, however will be looking into this to resolve it. I purchased a gun safe from the Reno Public Auction about a year back and haven't posted a review in order to give them an opportunity to make it right. So here we are. I purchased the safe and discussed loading into the bed of my truck. The decided plan (per the manager) was that the safe would get dropped off behind my truck, and my friend and I would tilt it in. Easy peasy right? I moved my truck per the instructions of the manager to the area with the loading bay. An employee driving a forklift came barreling out of the garage door with my safe. He didnt slow down much as he dumped the safe into my truck bed and it tilted over and landed on the roof of my truck. It caused a dent on the roof of my truck and a very small dent on the back of the safe. He repeatedly said "my bad bro" probably about 50 times. The manager told me to send pictures to the email and it would get "taken care of". I sent the pictures and my story to the email provided and the person emailed me back and essentially called me a liar and that "upon their investigation, that is not how it happened". The policy on their website says something along the lines of "if asked to help you load the item into your vehicle, we are not responsible for any damage". I never asked anyone at this whole sleezy operation to help me load it into my truck. You would think the employee admitting fault and saying "my bad" 50 times would be enough and they would be honest about it and help me fix my truck. I purchases an office chair. I did a search with the "stock" photos they provided and found it to be from Amazon $600. I won the auction for $100 (plus all the fees). It was in a box, disassembled. I assembled it at home. Some TEMU cheap piece of crap. It is not the chair in the photo! Similar on TEMU sell for $50 and less. I am taking the chair back on Friday. I will update my review after. I've been a regular public auction reno buyer for over 3 years and have won numerous great deals and some not so great deals. I have purchased thousands of dollars from them over this timeframe and I've gotten to the point that I would never do business with them again. I'm disabled and saw an auction for a wheelchair carrier for an auction scheduled for the week of October 13, 2024. I received the item, and I was so excited that i would finally free myself from the hassle of disassembling and reassembling the chair. My excitement didn't last very long when I attempted to install it to my vehicle. The item was missing the tongue and numerous other items, including all missing hardware. I took this item back to the auction house and I was told that there were no returns allowed for missing parts and hardware. I live on a fixed income and money is very tight. Unbelievably unethical! We purchased a chair. We went to inspect the chair. It's in a sealed box, great! We pick up the chair, get it home and it's a completely different (inferior) chair. We return the chair. They won't give us a refund. They're being "generous" and giving us store credit because "others" have swapped products out and tried to return them. So you won't give me a refund and you're going to treat all of your customers like criminals? They stated that when we inspected the sealed box chair that we should have taken it out of the box? I do like that they have a good system for picking up items- you text once you arrive and they bring out the items for you. The staff is friendly and professional. However, I had multiple purchases where items were badly used (showerhead), broken, or missing parts without indication in the item's listing. Other liquidators in town are better about this- they put actual pictures of the item, with a warning like "please preview" or "damaged". Public Auction uses stock photos and unless you personally preview the items, you won't know what you're buying. Not worth it! read more

This actually makes me pretty sad to post. I have been a customer for many many years. I have spent so much money there. And the amount of issues I've had with product is insurmountable. Yet, The gentleman there have always been so kind, and so understanding, and I still come back week after week. Today with only 5 cars ahead of me, I had to wait over an hour. I had to return a car seat I had bought the previous week because not only was it used, but missing pieces. This is not only illegal for them to do so, but truly disgusting that they would rather make money ($) than worry about how it would not do it's job and protect a child in case of accident. The management of picking up days is the worst part of the auction house. Hope they have a manager who has some experience and knowledge in the auction business. Rude and cold faces will run our auction down. There are no condition reports on any items. Our customers are their workers to verify the items. But you can't return the items for any reason after the auction. They have some junk and very dirty items that may carry viruses and bacteria. OK, I was looking for quality items for a low price but little did I know that a fiberglass sink would be advertised as "enameled cast iron". Those things are radically different. I also failed to see in the description that one corner of the sink was already broken off making it useless. I have been frequently buying from auctions for 25+ years and have dealt regularly with all local auction houses and many out of town/state auctions as well. Sure, I've had some minor issues along the way, but nothing compared to this sham of a business. For starters, many items are not as described, broken or missing pieces from listings where it's not disclosed. They do accept returns, but only for a few hours on a single weekday making it difficult to get there to make the return. Then they just relist the same item, the same way for the next sucker to buy and hopefully not make the tiny return window. But the final straw for me was last week. I bought a few items, went there on Monday to pick up (Monday and Tuesday are pick up days), but they were closed. Being that I live an hour away and we had a big storm blow in, I wasn't able to get back to town until Thursday. There was absolutely zero consideration for these circumstances and, per their horrible rules, the items were forfeited and no refunds given. I tried to message them to discuss this, but they just dismissed it and gave the ridiculous reply saying, well next time read the notice on our website and pick up the items on time. This is the most unprofessional 'business' I have ever encountered. It is definitely a sham and borderline criminal what they are getting away with. I was once impressed with this auction house and how it was run but no longer. It appears constant personnel change lends to changing customer service. Where once I had great experiences in dealing with a named employee in interactions and personal service, this has changed. No name customer service has been my latest experience that resulted in lost monies, no concessions for weather and travel and complete forfeit of funds for two auctions. I was a constant customer for years, nearly weekly. Communication was good and not a problem for years. You would think they would consider this and past years communication and solid history. Nope. I've purchased several items from this auction and there have been a couple of times that we did not receive as described. the bigger problem is they sent me an email stating that my card was declined, but no worries I can pay for it when I pick up the item. When i checked my account, the money was taken out then returned, which was odd, so I called my bank, and the problem was on the auction's end. Then when we went to retrieve the item, we were informed that it wasn't available. I have left 3 messages now with no return call. Last week when I wasn't even registered for the auction, I was charged $15.30 then it was put back. I logged into the auction to see what was going on, and all my past auction bids and wins were gone. This place is the biggest scam!!! Every time I've gotten stuff from them the items are missing pieces, broken, heavily used, literal trash. For example, baby chair without the chair, bike trailer missing a wheel, incorrect product advertised and in the wrong box that resulted in bidding on the wrong item, those are just a few examples. Oh and the safes they sell are fake also, the emblem on the front is screwed on top of the actual brand, so you're not actually purchasing the Howitzer Vault. I've, very nicely, suggested and asked about inquiring about the items, since returns aren't allowed, and they repeatedly say to email them and inquire about each and they would respond. I've even tried to make easy by trying to include everything in one email, after running by them, but that didn't work. Then they said "email us by Thursday the latest", but guess what? That didn't work either. I've also made a suggestion, since they can't seem to keep up or do their job, to include in the description the condition that the items are in (like Vanzant Auction does, which by the way is a great place to buy from) but they can't and won't do that. So if I don't know the condition the items are in and they never get back at my emails like they said they would, but also don't take returns, how do I know that I'm not buying garbage, which in most of cases it is all you'd be getting from there. They're basically selling their trash intead of taking to the dump. And this morning I realized that they've blocked me from bidding on their website because responding to my emails, which again they've asked me to do, was apparently a little too much for them to do. Make sure u check items before you bid on them what you see in the picture often is not it or it's not the color it's damage etc. I kept giving this auction a chance because the deals are good but you get what you pay for trash! Every since item I've gotten from this auction is damaged or doesn't work. I got a wood bench it was broken, dresser wood was broken no hardware, vacuum doesn't work keeps powering off, coffee table missing legs. When I tried to return items the man refused I told him it was broken no hardware etc he refused but when I was leaving an older gentleman started raising his voice being super rude and guess what he got a refund! I like this auction a lot but I don't like the Saturday, Sunday thing too confusing when one starts and ends.

I have been buying here regularly. But I am getting tired of buying stuff with missing parts, cracks, soiled, not as described and broken. I have a piece of exercise equipment right now that is missing a main part plus all the hardware. I can not find the part anywhere online so I just lost my money on that one. They were good about taking returns and they should since on their site it states: returns on Friday. The issue is driving there every Friday to return stuff. I would say 75% of the things I buy have to be returned. Some things they don't like taking back. Buy a Comforter Set and then find out it is used and dirty. I understand they mention they sell used stuff but many things just are not worth the price you have to pay. I am sure they don't care because they have so many buyers looking for a deal but in the end it will hurt them if they don't take everything back when there is an issue. All of the items they carry are RETURNS. They buy by the pallet and then break it down and sell. I feel it is better than going to the dump but they need to check each item and state exact condition. If they don't I feel it is a misrepresentation. And the deals are not that good anymore. There are so many people willing to pay high prices for this used stuff. Its is a risk because you don't really know what you are getting until you get it home. I have watched prices go up 60% in the last couple years. Why are people willing to pay close to new price on used stuff? I know many people are reselling these items to try to make a profit but if you don't get it low that is a risk too. And it takes time and gas money to return broken items. Plus you can't list an item as NEW and have it be missing parts or dirty. This company needs to hire people to check out each item before it is listed.
