Nothing like a BOOK!!
Nikki W.

Had the chance to stop by today and pick up a few goodies for Boss' Day tomorrow. The store looked amazing (extremely clean and sanitized - COVID aware), wonderful selection, great prices and the sweetest hostess! I'm excited to shop again soon!

The owner sold me her personal copy. Great book!

Very nice small used book store. Jenni the owner is really nice. Sometimes when I'm in a pinch I call to see if she has a title and she'll save it for me up front. I ask for recommendations when I'm in a reading slump and she always come through. The staff has read my kids books while I shop. The overall feel is friendly and welcoming. You could spend all day in there just relaxing and talking to the staff about their favorite reads. I highly recommend this place.

I absolutely love this place! Great selection of books and the prices are not bad at all. Sometimes I find some pretty new books for a good price. The lady that works here is always fun to talk with and is great at helping me find any books Im looking for. They have lots of clearance books for a 1$(hardcovers). Great selection of classics, romance, youth oriented, horror and mystery, biography's, fantasy . The list goes on! It's a great place if ur looking for a specific book that may not be in books stores like Barnes and Nobel. Great prices and great book selections. You can't go wrong if you go here! The ambiance is amazing.

I come to Turlock twice a week and in the past two months, this place is never open. I'm thinking they are permanently closed.

They just don't have too many bookstores left like this one. As the name suggests, you can bring your gently used books in and they will keep a record of them, and you will receive a discount of roughly half off of whatever you decide to buy in exchange for bringing in your old books. This turns out to be a great value considering the good condition and broad variety of the books that they carry. We can always find something good to read, and the price is definitely always easy on the pocketbook. The lovely people who work here are very well informed. I was looking for a classic by Pearl S Buck, and she knew exactly where it was located in the store. I have confidence in these guys, and I know that I can check with them before I go look elsewhere. A must see for any avid reader or bibliophile.

This bookstore is awesome!! I can't believe I've never been here until now, though I have visited…read morethe Campbell location. First off, I love the political signs posted on the windows, like the "everyone is welcome here except ICE". When I walked in, the store looked exactly like what I've always envisioned a cozy community bookstore to be like--filled to the brim with books and with a lot of character. I came here to sell some books and it was pretty quick--I had probably 20-25 books and the employee finished in less than 10 minutes. As I was waiting for my books, I walked around exploring. I was very impressed with the selection of fiction. There were actually quite a bit of new releases, but also older books and editions that I would likely not find at a corporate bookstore. If I had the time, I'd love to spend 1-2 hours here just browsing. I didn't expect to get much money for my books; I was actually going to donate them and didn't realize that they still buy books, so their offer was ok. I was moreso pleasantly surprised that the employee was so nice lol, and also a little chatty. Honestly the last time I sold books was probably 15-20+ years ago at Half Price Books and I remember they were always pretty rude/standoffish lol. In addition to the service, the atmosphere, and the book selection, the cherry on top for me was that they have a special shelf where you can buy a book there for 50% off for them to donate to the library at Elmwood Correctional Facility at a bit of a loss for the store. I used most of my credit from the books to get a Stephen King book for the library.

I've been visiting this bookstore for over 20 years and I definitely have a love/hate relationship…read morewith this bookstore lol. The Bad: The staff can occasionally come across as a bit unwelcoming, and I personally wish the storefront atmosphere stayed more focused on books and less on outside messaging. They sometimes price popular or trending used books higher than what you'd pay for a brand-new copy elsewhere. The Good: I absolutely love the character of this bookstore. Shelves packed floor to ceiling, creaky wooden floors, stacks of books everywhere, and even a cat roaming around the store it feels like something straight out of a fantasy novel. I've visited countless bookstores, and nothing beats the old vintage feel of this place. They have a great selection of beautiful leather-bound books, plus an excellent fantasy and sci-fi section. I especially love when they put books out in under $6! The prices at this location are better, and this store feels much more like a classic old bookstore. The Campbell location feels more like a modern bookstore, and the prices there can sometimes be higher. At the end of the day, this place is a San Jose landmark and everyone should visit it at least once. Even when I disagree with certain aspects of it, I still keep coming back because it's nostalgic.

It's very small (about 500 sqft, 2 rooms of books) with a jazzercise studio in the back. They have nice antique settees in both rooms. $2 for paperback and $4 for hardcover. The guy in the front was very kind. Since they have a jazzercise studio in the back, I think they should do speakeasy events there for book lovers since they have a nice enclosed parking- Bridgeton High Tea..., twilight dinners...A You marathon... Hunger Games costume party.... crafting with books.. I've never read Twilight, but since I was just in Oregon, I have to read or watch the twilight series now, but they did not have the book. They take donations so if anyone wants to donate twilight, lemme know! I had exactly $6 cash so I got myself a C.I.A. cookbook (Culinary Institute of America) because I collect cookbooks. Anthony Bourdain, Roy Choi (I ate at his restaurant, Best Friend in Las Vegas) & Grant Achatz (I dream of one day eating at his Michelin Starred restaurant, Alinea in Chicago) graduated from C.I.A. I also got a brand new paperback from Target- Love, Naturally. I am a little behind on my reading because life has taken me on a hell of a ride this year.
